The success of the album, bolstered by an article in the gaming magazine Nintendo Power, began a huge cult following for the band, with fans attending concerts in costumes inspired by the band's storyline and participating by way of singing along with the band's music, which was further exemplified by the group's work in Act II: The Father of Death. Fallen is an album featuring the band's signature sounds and style on mostly original songs and one cover song, unlike several of their previous albums which covered their own songs (2013's Second Coming) and covers of others' works (2011's The Covering). However, the sound of the album is heavier, but still retains the band's melodic pattern. Five singles from the album have been released per month, "Yahweh", "Fallen", "Big Screen Lies", "Let There Be Light", and Stryper's second Black Sabbath cover, "After Forever".
On February 14, 2010, Dick Valentine announced via the Electric Six website that the band is in the process of recording their 7th studio album. On April 30, 2010, Dick Valentine confirmed at a concert at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana that the seventh album would be a twelve-track compilation titled Zodiac.
The album also introduced a more experimental direction, with funk and jazz inspired songs including "Lighten Up" and "Something's Got to Give". The band returned to their hardcore punk roots for the song "Time for Livin'", a cover song originally by Frontline, a New York hardcore band from the early 80s. The addition of instruments and the harder rock sound of the album could be considered a precursor to the nu metal genre of music to come out in the later half of the 1990s.
Stylized as 5in, it is the fourth official Nine Inch Nails release and final single for Pretty Hate Machine, containing three variations of the track and Nine Inch Nails' first cover song. All three versions were produced by Keith LeBlanc and Adrian Sherwood of Tackhead.
Korean singer-songwriter JYP (Park Jin-young) and Yoo Se-yoon's hip hop duo UV released the song "Itaewon Freedom" in April 2011. The title alludes to (and the lyrics celebrate) a common Korean perception of Itaewon's foreignness and open atmosphere, in contrast with conventional Korean culture, which is more conservative. The popularity of the song and its music video inspired a parody cover song and video from the girl group Crayon Pop in 2013. Both videos were partially filmed on location in Itaewon.
His first solo track was "Adam Tzover Zichronot" (A Man Accumulates Memories), a cover song for Dorit Reuveni's song which he recorded for a musical project entitled "Avoda Ivrit" (Hebrew Work). Some fans collect versions of their favourite songs and actively debate which is the best version of any particular song, keeping lists of notable version. This may extend to the song's relative rarity in setlists of differing eras. Some bands will play on this anticipation by adding little "teases" into their sets. For example, playing a few bars of a famous cover song or hinting at a popular jam and then either never getting actually playing the song, or coming back to it after an extended jam.
The lead single off the album is the cover song "Detroit Made." Bob Seger's take on John Hiatt's song was released to radio stations on August 14, 2014, coinciding with the Woodward Dream Cruise, a classic car event that is held annually on the third Saturday of August in Metropolitan Detroit. A music video for the song showing classic cars owned by Michigan natives driving through the streets of Detroit was largely shot at this event. The lone cover song is a Myanmar favorite composed four decades ago by Alinka Kyaw Swar Shwe Pyi Aye. Myanmar conducted a historic Burmese by-elections of April 2012, in which pro-democracy icon and national hero Daw Aung San Suu Kyi ran for political office. In response, the Me N Ma Girls began writing their country's first overtly political song, "Come Back Home." The song was directed at the 10% of the population, about a half million people, who left Myanmar due to repression and poverty.
35 The only cover song on the album is the Donovan-penned ballad "Lalena", which had been a Top 40 single for its author in the US in the autumn of 1968. The first new song to be publicly performed was titled "Hey Bop a Re Bop", which aired on the Top Gear radio show on 14 January 1969. It was broadcast again on 11 February before being reworked and becoming the psychedelic blues song "The Painter". Although most recording dates are lost, it is known that the band recorded two songs on 17 February.
Paul Stanley is a 1978 solo album from American musician Paul Stanley, the singer-songwriter being best known for serving as the rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist of hard rock band Kiss. The band's first radio hit in Israel was a cover song for another Israeli musician, Shlomo Artzi, though their first album, "Tzo'akim al Ahavah" (Screaming about Love) that year received little success. Yet, their second album, "Margish Acher" (Feeling Different), gained the band the status of one of the leading rock groups in Israel, practically overnight. From this 2006 album the band produced many instant radio hits, most notably "Tir'i Zeh Ani" (Look, It's Me), "Margish Acher" and "Ashem" (Guilty). The album went gold after selling over 20,000 copies.

The band continued, but with many line-up changes and gaps between album releases. The band's current iteration, including Kryz Reid (lead guitar), Alex Kopp (keyboards), and Alex LeCavalier (bass guitar), recorded the band's fifth studio album, Dopamine, which was released in 2015. The same lineup remained stable into 2018, recording and releasing the 2016 EP We Are Drugs and the 2018 cover song EP Thanks for Everything.
In a conversation with The Guardian, Evans said the right-wing counter-protesters "absolutely came prepared to fight", were "very aggressive from the jump", and were equipped with "knives, guns, paintball guns with frozen pellets, batons". In August, the song "No Cock Like Horse Cock" became a popular protest song in the Pacific Northwest. It was unclear exactly how it became popularized, but Pepper Coyote, the artist who produced the song, surmised that protesters became aware of his work through a cover song that appeared on Evans' Behind the Bastards.
Clive Davis was instrumental in the composition of the Cruel Summer album. The band members had resisted recording another cover song, but at the insistence of their British record label, Polydor Records, as well as Arista Records, Jonas Berggren chose Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" in what he called "an easy decision". While the original version, produced by Johnny Jam & Delgado, was released as a single in Europe, it was considered unsuitable for an American release. A new rerecorded version, overseen by Arista president Clive Davis and produced by Cutfather and Joe was commissioned instead.
The decision was made to release the songs as an Ep, through Willowtip Records in the Americas and Earache Records for Europe and Asia. "Fill Your Heart", written by Biff Rose and Paul Williams, is the only track on Hunky Dory not written by Bowie; it is his first recorded cover song in six years. It replaced "Bombers" as the side two opener late in the album's development. "Fill Your Heart" is one of the more up-tempo tracks on the album, and according to Doggett is "practically identical" to Rose's original version, albeit more "bouncy" and less "swung". The piano-driven arrangement differs from Bowie's live performances of the song in 1970, when acoustic guitar dominated.

To back up the album a small tour was planned in Denmark in 2018; Studenterhuset, Aalborg April 13 and Posten, Odense April 28. Next up was a bit different from the pack. The idea of covering others material is not strange to the band, as every recording session since 2007 has contained at least one cover song (all of which are available on the Orbits box set).

In 1994, The Age of Electric released the Ugly EP, which sold well independently.
Second guitarist Johnny Crypt then switched over to bass following Nickels' departure, and the band remained a four-piece. The opening track F.N.A. was intended to sound like a disc skipping, and is rumored to be a portion of their cover song "Black Sabbath" - available on the Japanese import version of the album - simply played backwards. A hidden track can be found following an extended break at the 17 minute mark of the final track "I am Alive." The track features an exchange between a couple of prison guards discussing the pending execution of an inmate.
All four shows were released as live albums. Phish briefly toured Europe in July before returning to the United States for another month-long summer tour. The dark grooves of the previous year and the Island Tour, had somewhat subsided by this point, and Phish had begun to settle into a new style that, while still relying heavily on improvisation, was far less murky. On August 1, Phish began debuting a brand new cover song at nearly every show, starting with "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin at a show at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin.
Also for this tour Clarkson had an "Open Mic Night" where she gave fans the opportunity to perform a "cover" song on stage. Fans submitted a video of themselves through various social media websites and Clarkson then selected one winner for each city. Some highlights from the show are Clarkson singing "Heartbeat Song" with opening act Pentatonix and "Walk Away" being mashed up with Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' hit song "Uptown Funk". She opened the show with "Dance With Me", a track off Piece by Piece and closed with her hit "Since U Been Gone".
"No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed", the album's first cover song, was written by American artist Richie Havens. It opens with an orchestral theme taken from the soundtrack to the 1958 Western film The Big Country by Jerome Moross. Anderson wrote "The Prophet" telling the story of a man, followed by many, who tells others to find and believe in themselves and not follow "like sheep". The song borrows a theme from "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" from The Planets suite by English composer Gustav Holst and shows Anderson incorporating other themes from classical music, to which he listened regularly.
Unlike the previous releases the albums didn't contain any cover song. The album won the Best Hard Rock / Metal Album 2012 award in the Spanish Independent Music Awards. The group toured Spain as part of the "Recommended Tour" by Radio3, and also toured in Europe in March–April and September 2013. In October 2013 the band announce on their website that drummer Javier Planelles has decided to leave Eldorado for personal reasons and that he will be replaced by Christian Giardino, a Spanish drummer who has also worked for several years in Argentina as a session player in different bands.
Kent embarked on two accompanying US tours to promote the album. The first was in support of fellow Swedes, The Cardigans, during which they highlighted new song, "Protection", and the second was a double-bill with American band, Papa Vegas. The band would close the shows for the second leg of the tour with what they described as their "only cover song", a version of Depeche Mode's classic single, "Stripped". Singles were released in various territories for three of the album's songs, "If You Were Here", "Things She Said" and "747" (featuring the English version of "Kräm", entitled "What It Feels Like").
In most traditional and popular music styles, the bass player is expected to be able to improvise a bassline which they base in the chord progression of a song. When a bassist is playing a cover song, they may play the bassline that was originally used on the recording. A session bassist playing in a music studio is expected to be able to read a bassline written in musical notation. Bass players also perform fills in between the phrases of the vocal melody, and they may also perform bass runs or bass breaks, which are short solo sections.
Richard Curtis approached Wet Wet Wet about recording a cover song to soundtrack his film Four Weddings and a Funeral. The band got to pick between three choices of songs, the other two being "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor and "Can't Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow. Singer Marti Pellow related that the decision to pick "Love is All Around" was an easy choice "because we knew we could make it our own". The song, which has a different introduction from the Troggs' version, was recorded in B flat major on 4 January 1994 and released in April.
They also decided to release one more CD-single. This CD contained 'left-overs' from the last two recording sessions: "Roses on my Grave" was recorded at the same time as the songs for the split-MCD and had never before been released and "Headstone" was a cover song from the English band Chorus of Ruin, recorded during the Ne Vivam session. In the meantime Martin, Johan and Pim decided to continue and created a new band, XI:LIX (also known as Eleven Fiftynine or 11:59). A new guitarist, also named Johan, was recruited and they started working on new songs.
The band recorded the first album Out of the Pit in Calgary in early 2009. During the mixing of the album at Metalworks Studios in Toronto, producer Greg Godovitz invited long time friend Rik Emmett to record a guitar solo to the only cover song on the album, a remake of Motörhead anthem Ace of Spades. After playing their first 2009 Canadian tour, Paige's vocal style had changed significantly and the band approached Kevin Shirley to rerecord the vocals and remix the album. The remix was so different that many industry writers thought the band had brought in a new lead singer.
Opeth toured on the main stage of Gigantour in 2006, alongside Megadeth. Ghost Reveries was re-released on October 31, 2006, with a bonus cover song (Deep Purple's "Soldier of Fortune"), a DVD featuring a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album and a documentary on the making of the record. A recording of Opeth's live performance at the Camden Roundhouse, in London, on November 9, 2006, was released as the double live album The Roundhouse Tapes, which topped the Finnish DVD chart. On May 17, 2007, Peter Lindgren announced he would be leaving Opeth after 16 years.
May is a Korean artist who made her debut in 2006 but wasn't able to gain any success on any releases. May started her music career singing "Miracle" as a theme song along with a F.I.R. cover song "Lydia" as an insert song for a popular Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) weekend drama "Friends" in late 2005. On 7 March 2006 May had a contract with CJ Music releasing her first EP or mini album entitled "Wonderland" that featured seven songs. May did not gain much success with her first released charted at #23 on Korean top 200.
After signing a deal with Island Records, which re-released Bill (minus the cover song "Green Tambourine"), the band recorded their first major-label release, I Am an Elastic Firecracker. The music video for the song "I Got a Girl" received extended airplay on MTV. A segment of the video was used in a Beavis and Butt-Head episode, a show known to lampoon popular music videos of the time. Wakeland remained in the band until after the tour for I Am an Elastic Firecracker when he chose to leave, and was replaced by Mitch Marine and Cory Lemons.
Alternatively, she embarked on a coronavirus-friendly summer concert tour that respected the social distance dictated by the World Health Organization. During that time, she collaborated with many other artists on the benefit cover song "Escriurem (Jo Em Corono)" (originally sung by Miki Núñez), whose benefits went to Bonaventura Clotet's medical foundation. Previously she had taken part of the "People in Red" gala in Barcelona, which raised 926,000 euros "to invest them in research projects that are being carried out such as the preventive HIV vaccine, but which also helps other diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer's to benefit".
Useless Animal is an extended play by the American rock band Cult Leader. Released through Deathwish Inc. on June 16, 2015, the EP features two exclusive tracks (the original composition "Useless Animal," and the cover song "You Are Not My Blood") and one original composition titled "Gutter Gods" that would later be released on the band's 2015 debut album, Lightless Walk. Useless Animal was recorded in late 2014 by Andy Patterson, who previously recorded Gaza's 2009 album, He Is Never Coming Back—the now-defunct band that featured three members and gave birth to Cult Leader.
However, according to coverage by Alternative Press of a post and comments on the band's Facebook page in July 2017, the new record would be released in 2018, along with a new single and tour in the fall of 2017. It was released on March 30, 2018. In September 2018 an Australian tour was announced to be taking place in December of the same year featuring support from Australian band The Comfort. In December 2018, the band surprised dropped a new song entitled "Land Down Under" which later was confirmed to be a cover song by Men At Work.
On the first showdown each of the three contestants performed two songs – one new cover and the student's favourite song that they had performed during the series. The series judges were joined by guest judge, radio and TV presenter Jonathan Ross, and gave their opinions on air. Alistair and Alex were voted through to the final, and each performed another cover song chosen by the producers; Alex sang a John Lennon song, "Imagine"; Alistair sang "Everything I Own" by Bread. They each performed one of their own compositions, and performed two duets with each other and with guest singer Daniel Bedingfield.
Some of the tracks present Murs as being critical of his ex- girlfriends' new boyfriend, including "A Million More Years" and the second single, "Thinking of Me". Written by Adam Argyle and Martin Brammer, "I Blame Hollywood" draws influence from pop rock. Murs co-wrote the song "Love Shines Down" with Ed Sheeran, and it features guest vocalist Jessie J, while "Heart on My Sleeve" is a cover song written by James Morrison and originally performed by Michael Johns. Murs' second studio album, the retro-pop themed In Case You Didn't Know, was released on 25 November 2011.
The two CD compilation Wray's Three Track Shack (Acadia/Evangeline Recorded Works Ltd./Universal Music, 2005) includes Beans And Fatback along with other "shack" recordings of 1971 (Link Wray and Mordicai Jones), but the track "Take My Hand (Precious Lord)" was replaced without credit by "Backwoods Preacher Man" (a cover song of Tony Joe White) from The Link Wray Rumble album (Polydor, 1974). Steve Verroca had, allegedly, stolen the demo tapes of Beans and Fatback and sold them to Virgin Records. Link Wray recorded the Stuck in Gear album for Virgin (catalogue number V2050) so they withdrew Beans and Fatback.
In the same year Fonzie won a worldwide contest sponsored by Millencolin, to elect the best "Millencolin Cover Song". In 2002 Built To Rock was released by the North American publisher Jumpstart Records, followed by a contract with the Portuguese Movieplay, the Japanese ULF Records, the South American Sound Records, PunkNation Records in Belgium and Godschild Records in Hong Kong. They toured all over U.S., Europe, Asia and South America and Their videos were played in more than 20 territories on TV channels such as MTV, MCM, and Fuse. In 2003 Fonzie were nominated for best Portuguese act at MTV Europe Music Awards.
Famed jazz historian Scott Yanow wrote "One of the many joys of I Sing Stevie is hearing Camille giving fresh interpretations to a variety of mostly lesser- known Stevie Wonder songs. Her love for the music is obvious, as is her talented singing. One suspects that Stevie Wonder would love this CD." In March 2015, the album was nominated for Best Tribute Album in the 14th Annual Independent Music Awards. In 2017 Camille received nominations for two JPF Music Awards, including Best Tribute Album for I Sing Stevie: The Stevie Wonder Songbook and Best Cover Song for "They Won't Go When I Go".
In 2016, Gilman competed on season 11 of the reality singing competition The Voice. He attracted the attention of all four coaches, but chose to join Adam Levine's team. On the final night of performances, each of the final four contestants were required to perform one cover song, one duet with their coach, and one original song, which would also serve as his or her coronation single. "Because of Me" was written by Jacob Kasher, Nick Ruth, Phil Shaouy, and Ari Leff and was planned to be recorded by Maroon 5 for their forthcoming sixth studio album.
Chris Conley and former Saves the Day guitarist David Soloway, got together with Max Bemis and Coby Linder of Say Anything, in 2009 to form the supergroup Two Tongues. The group features Bemis and Conley sharing lead vocals and guitar duties with Soloway on bass guitar and Linder on drums. Thirteen songs were recorded in Electric Ladybug Studio, Conley's home studio in Chico, California. Bemis, Conley, and Linder previously collaborated on a cover song of Bob Dylan's "The Man In Me" for the compilation album Paupers, Peasants, Princes & Kings: The Songs of Bob Dylan released by Doghouse Records in 2006.
Robbins, Ira ed. (1985); The Rolling Stone Review; . p. 198. The second single was another cover song, "Blood from a Stone", which had been performed by The Hooters on their album Amoré (1983), and Trouser Press acclaimed the Red Rockers version as a big improvement over the original.Robbins, Ira ed. (1997); Trouser Press Guide to '90s Rock, 5th Edition; . p. 176. In the wake of this new exposure, the Hooters remade the song again the following year, on their album Nervous Night (1985). The 12-inch single featuring two versions of "Just Like You" was the band's last release.
In April 2008 a compilation from the Punk Goes... series, called Punk Goes Crunk, was released, and features New Found Glory covering "Tennessee", originally by Arrested Development. New Found Glory had previously released another cover song, "Heaven", on Punk Goes Metal. During "Not Without a Fight" tour, a split EP with Shai Hulud titled Not Without a Heart Once Nourished by Sticks and Stones Within Blood Ill- Tempered Misanthropy Pure Gold Can Stay was exclusively released. There were two colors limited to a total of only 500 copies and only for sale from either Shai Hulud or New Found Glory at these shows.
The album also contains the first cover song since Blast of Silence, an ethereal, drum-machine-laced re-interpretation of Jackson Browne's "These Days". To further highlight the album's dance elements, an EP of remixes of songs from This Is How It Feels , entitled Prison of the Rhythm, was released shortly after the CD's release. Pure, released a year later, is seen by many as the band's most focused work, owing much to the strong contributions once again of Carson, Laswell, and Skopelitis. Tracks such as "No Skin" and "Pure" continue in the dance/ambient style of the previous album.
The film also won Lebara Play Audience Choice Award for best film at London Indian Film Festival 2015. Nachom-ia Kumpasar was also included in the short list for the 2016 Oscars. Ester sang for the Konkani film 'Sophiya – a dream girl' in which she acted too which was produced by her mother Janet Noronha. Ester Noronha's Despacito Konkani cover song featuring Noel Sean in the rap went viral in April – May 2018 and went on to cross one million views in less than three months thus creating a world record of being the first Konkani song on YouTube to do so.
Verona has not worked together since their last show in 2009, although they have been seen together in a few concerts; Atari made a special guest appearance at The Ataris show on July 22. He was invited to play guitars in "Takeoffs and Landings" and "In this Diary" while the Indiana band performed in Caracas as a part of their Latin American tour. The band occasionally gets together in studios to record their next album. During the process of recording this new material, they recorded a Christmas cover song that was included in their December set list, Josef Mohr's "Silent Night".
Bassette was a pioneer in the area of producing his own recordings and releasing them on his own label, something few musicians in the Cleveland area had done before. His first mini- album, Weed and Wine, produced by TinkerToo Music & Records, featured a cover by underground comic artist Dave Sheridan, and both the cover song and the song Hello, Cleveland were local hits. He appeared at many street fairs and events in the Northeast Ohio area, and favored benefits for charitable causes including the Cleveland Free Clinic. He also appeared as a regular guest on the seminal folk-music segment, Coffeebreak Concerts, on the major Cleveland Rock radio station WMMS.
"Misery" is a 1995 song performed by the Minneapolis rock band Soul Asylum. Although Let Your Dim Light Shine critically suffered in comparison to its predecessor, Grave Dancers Union, the single, "Misery", reached number 20 on The Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in the US. The song featured prominently in Kevin Smith's 2006 movie Clerks II and on an episode of the TV show Hindsight. It was also parodied by "Weird Al" Yankovic as "Syndicated Inc." on his album Bad Hair Day. The B side on the single is Hope, a cover song from the Descendents' first album Milo Goes to College (1982).
It is notable than in 2000, Markus "Black Raven" Vainionpää won The Annual Air Guitar World Championship contest by performing Deuteronomium's song "Crosshope" - from the Tribal Eagle EP.. Summary of The Annual Air Guitar World Championship in 2000 (in Finnish) Deuteronomium officially split up in 2001. They released Street Corner Queen and Tribal Eagle as a digipak edition with One Bad Pig cover song of "Red River" as a bonus track. After that Manu Lehtinen Sold his Little Rose record selling business rights to Lasse Niskala and Päivi Niemi who would form Maanalainen Levykauppa - The Underground Record Store. During the years the band members went to seraparate ways.
Elsewhere on the LP, Smith's lyrics discuss issues such as drugs on the ranting "Ketamine Sun", and his favourite meal on the jazz-influenced "Pumpkin Soup and Mashed Potatoes". The Unutterable is notable for not featuring a cover song in any format, unlike all of the group's other studio albums from Bend Sinister forward, although "Ketamine Sun" reportedly started life as a cover of Lou Reed's "Kill Your Sons", there is little musical similarity between the two tracks. This was the first and only Fall ‘official’ studio release to be issued on CD only, without a corresponding vinyl version. A double-LP set was eventually issued in 2014.

In the early 1980s, Australian born singer Rick Springfield was signed to RCA Records and began work on what would become his international breakout album, Working Class Dog. Keith Olsen was asked to produce several tracks for the album and, after listening to Springfield's demos, he selected "Jessie's Girl". Olson also felt that Springfield should include a cover song on the album, which ended up being "I've Done Everything For You". During a 2018 interview with Eddie Trunk, Springfield stated that he was uncertain if Olsen had settled upon the song or if Neil Giraldo (guitarist and bassist for the album) had suggested it to Olsen.
During the middle of 1992 the band toured with the new bassist Dragiša Uskoković "Ćima", with whom they recorded the final studio album Neko nas posmatra (Somebody Is Watching Us), released in May 1993. The album featured a more accessible and communicative sound especially present in the songs "Ponos" ("Pride"), "Jadransko more" ("The Adriatic Sea"), "Just Let Me Play Some Modern R'n'R Music" and "Zajedno" ("Together"). For the first time, the band had included a cover song on and album, "Istina Mašina" ("Truth Machine"), originally performed by the Yugoslav rock band Time. The album was produced by Mladenović and featured Srđan Todorović, Tanja Jovićević and a childer choir as guest performers.
Kaplan told an interviewer: "I think we gained an element of comfort with using that kind of instrumentation, and it became something we could draw on for our other songs." In addition, the album was book-ended with two guitar jams lasting over ten minutes each. In 2006, the band released Yo La Tengo Is Murdering the Classics, a compilation of their live impromptu cover-song performances on the New Jersey freeform radio station, WFMU. As part of the station's annual fundraising marathon, listeners who call in to pledge money to the station may request a favorite which the band will then perform on the spot.
The band's name changed from HyJinX to Stealing Jane in 2007 once the band's focus shifted from a mix of original songs along with cover song material to original material only. Stealing Jane (HyJinX) has played at venues such as Giants Stadium, The Bitter End, BB Kings, and the Webster Theater. They have played with OneRepublic, Spin Doctors, Lifehouse, Hanson, Pepper, Toots & the Maytals, Catch 22, Big D and The Kids Table, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Zox, RX Bandits, and Eve 6, among other acts. As HyJinx, they received first place in the Long Island Music Festival, held by Long Island, NY publication Good Times Magazine.
After recording In Defense of the Genre, Say Anything band members Max Bemis and Coby Linder worked with Saves the Day's Chris Conley and David Soloway on a side project named Two Tongues.

A deluxe collectors’-edition boxed set of the album was also released. Packaged in a silver foil embossed black velvet box the set includes the 3 Special Edition CDs, a 180-Gram Double LP, a DVD with isolated audio tracks for each instrument, a lithograph of the album cover, with only 100 being signed by Hugh Syme, and a mouse pad. Those who pre-ordered were able to download a newly recorded cover song each week beginning on May 19, 2009 until the album's release. 100 box sets contained a "silver ticket" entitling the purchaser and one guest to a meet-and-greet with the band.
Like the band's previous album, Condition Critical features a Slade cover song as the second track. Tracks "Party All Night" (also known as "Party All Nite") and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" had music videos made for them, both receiving some airplay on TV. The same man with a metal mask from the last album cover is on this cover as well as many of the band's subsequent album covers, establishing him as the band's mascot. The character also has cameos in both aforementioned music videos. The track "Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet" shares its title with the original American title to Slade's 1974 album Old New Borrowed and Blue.
This choice didn't sit well with many critics at the time, who pointed out that the song didn't fit with the rest of the record. The Choir never recorded another cover song until after Mark Heard's death, when they contributed their version of "Tip of My Tongue" to two tribute albums dedicated to him. Several years later, they covered "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for their Christmas album Peace, Love & Light. In October 2016, The Choir announced that the original Wide-Eyed Wonder-era line-up, complete with Robin Spurs on bass, would reunite and tour in Spring 2017, performing the album in its entirety.
Love Among the Ruins (1997) is the sixth studio album by 10,000 Maniacs and the first album with their new lead singer, Mary Ramsey, after Natalie Merchant left in 1993. The two singles from the album, a cover of Roxy Music's "More Than This" and "Rainy Day", were not originally intended to be included on the album. John Lombardo had just written "Rainy Day", which was deemed more radio-friendly than the other songs, and the record company insisted that the band record a cover song for inclusion. The band chose to credit the songs as group collaborations so that all members would receive equal royalties.
A fifth music video was released alongside the single as well. On why the band decided to do a cover song, Mincolla said "Industrial bands have a long history of subverting popular culture songs...We’ve just always been a fan of this sort of thing and felt it would be a good time to take an iconic song of the late 2000s and give it some unexpected 2019 industrial darkness." On January 17, 2020, ALTÆR was released as the album's sixth single along with a music video. While touring in support of Metawar, the band recorded one original track and two cover songs for the film Guns Akimbo.
The tour was billed as VooDoo Chile and featured works of Jimi Hendrix as well as original material from both Gales and Stevens. In February 2013, Magna Carta Records released the album Pinnick Gales Pridgen, produced by Mike Varney and featuring Gales on guitar and vocals, Doug Pinnick on bass and vocals, and Thomas Pridgen on drums. The 13-track album featured one cover song, "Sunshine of Your Love", originally by Cream, one short instrumental based on Ludwig van Beethoven's "Für Elise", and the remaining songs written by some combination of Pinnick, Gales, Pridgen and Varney. The follow-up album, PGP2, was released in July 2014.
Sain and Blue released the full-length album Urchin Tear Soda in 1999, and then toured the U.S to support it with additional musicians Dhanan Zakheim on bass guitar and guitarist James Webb (recruited from Santa Barbara thrash metal band Asinine, for whom Sain had produced a demo recording earlier that year). The album included a cover of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" by Pink Floyd. This marks the first time that Trance to the Sun included a cover song on one of their albums, though they have recorded several for various compilations over the years. Urchin Tear Soda was more synthetic and refined than previous releases.
The title referenced future planned volumes for other singles from the album, which would follow the same cover song format, but their struggles with the label would ultimately result in the series ending at just a single volume. The band also embarked on their "World Tour of Tiny Spaces" in support of the album; a fourteen-month trek that would span the globe. While on tour, the band pressed self-released a single for Gun Sluts, which was a one-track single featuring the eponymous song from the unreleased album. The CD single was initially available exclusively on tour, then later through the band's website.
The DVD was recorded from the tour Rebeldes Teen Festival. The show was recorded in two days; the first was the recording of the album and the second of the DVD. In the show each one of the six components of the band makes a cover for the section "DJ Party": Sophia Abrahão sings "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga; Chay Suede sings "Last Nite" by the band The Strokes; Lua Blanco sings "Firework" by Katy Perry; Arthur Aguiar sings "Toda Forma de Amor" by Lulu Santos; and Mel Fronckowiak sings "Loca" by Shakira. The only member of the band who does not sing a cover song is Micael Borges.
The initial lineup of Solace of Requiem (Jeff Sumrell, Chris Young, and Luke Downing) began under the moniker Sarcophagus when they were just teenagers in 1990. They took hiatus in 1993, and it wasn't until 2001 that they reunited under the name Solace of Requiem. In 2004 they recorded their first full length (self-titled) album which featured the cover song "I Need You" by Grave (from their Soulless album), after permissions were granted by Century Media Records. The self titled album was recorded at Master Sound Studio in Virginia Beach, VA. The album attained international distribution in 2004 and a video was eventually produced for the song "Beyond Grace".
The first single was the title track, which was released in Finland on February 27, 2008, and features the cover song "Lookin' Out My Back Door" as a B-side. The videos for "Blooddrunk" and "Hellhounds on My Trail" were shot in Berlin, Germany, in December 2007. Blooddrunk entered the Billboard 200 at number 22, making it the band's highest charted album thus far in their career, and the third highest death or black metal recording chart in the USA, just behind Dethklok's debut The Dethalbum and second album Dethalbum II.[ Billboard.com - Artist Chart History - Children of Bodom] The band streamed "Blooddrunk" on their MySpace page a week before its release.
The driving drumbeat and catchy chorus of "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" have made it a crowd favourite during live performances. It had the distinction of being one of the few Bon Jovi songs to be played at virtually every live concert since its introduction, until The Circle Tour in 2010, where it was only played occasionally. When played, it is often incorporated into a medley with a cover song inserted into the middle, such as "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by The Rolling Stones, or "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" by The Undisputed Truth. Concert footage of "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" can be viewed on the Live From London and The Crush Tour DVDs.
Cross My Palm is the second studio album to be recorded in the United States, for first time in 5 years after her debut album Prologue and the first studio album to be produced by western musicians and writers as David Batteau, Tony Humecke, Roger Daltrey, Julia Downes and Sandy Stewart. Nakamori come up with the inspiration of this album from the movies as Top Gun and Footloose. Modern Woman is the cover song of Femmes d'aujourd'hui by French singer Jeanne Mas and leading track Cross My Palm is cover of same title by British writer Chris Morris. Nakamori self-cover her single Blonde by the same writer, Sela under the title The Look That Kills.
See was nominated for two Streamy awards in 2013 at the 3rd Streamy Awards, under the "Best Online Musician" and "Audience Choice Finalists for Personality of the Year" categories. He received a further four nominations in 2014, winning the "Original Song" category for his song "Whistle While I Work It" in collaboration with Toby Turner and Wayne Brady. He was also nominated in the "Best Collaboration" (for his cover of "No Diggity" by Blackstreet with Flula Borg), "Best Cover Song" (for his cover of "Roar" by Katy Perry with Andy Lange, Andrew Garcia and Josh Golden) and "Best Musical Artist" categories. In 2014, See's YouTube Channel was listed on New Media Rockstars Top 100 Channels, ranked at #44.
The only cover song is "He's in My Life", which was an album track by The Glass House featuring Freda's sister Scherrie Payne. It was written by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland (under their common pseudonym "Edythe Wayne" to avoid copyright claims by their former employer Motown), jointly with Ron Dunbar. Three singles were lifted from this album: "Cherish What Is Dear to You (While It's Near to You)," "You Brought the Joy," and "The Road We Didn't Take." The anti-war protest song of "Bring the Boys Home" was released before the latter two to high demand and was not included in the first 50,000 copies of this album.
European tour with The Memorials After completing 3 tours (Freedom Tour, Equinox Tour, Waterguns, B B Q, & Hot Chocolate Tour) over the United States with The Memorials, the band are preparing for a European tour to launch in October 2012. Pinnick Gales Pridgen On 12 February 2013, Magna Carta released the Mike Varney-produced "Pinnick Gales Pridgen," featuring Eric Gales on guitar and vocals, dUg Pinnick (of King's X) on bass and vocals, and Pridgen on drums. The 13-track album features one cover song, "Sunshine of Your Love", originally by Cream, one short instrumental based on Ludwig van Beethoven's "Für Elise", and the remaining songs written by some combination of Pinnick, Gales, Pridgen and Varney.
The album also contains two cover songs. The first,"Sound and Vision", was originally done by David Bowie, who is one of the band's biggest heroes and inspirations. The second cover song, "Woyaya", originally done by Ghanaian Afro-pop group Osibisa and later covered by Art Garfunkel, features Ted Ottaviano on lead vocals, a lone drum beat, and the ambient noise of a city protest. Prior to the album release, the band released the first single "Boy Pop" in May 1993, a dance track and ode to gay men, with its lyric of "brother love... across the nation... on the bottom or the top, when we go, we go pop... boys united cannot be divided...".

Celtic Frost playing in Tuska in 2006 In 2005, Tom produced vocal (performed by Martin Eric Ain) and guitar tracks (Erol Uenala) for a "gothicized" version of Slayer's classic "Black Magic" recorded by Los Angeles-based gothic rock band Hatesex. The track appeared on their debut album entitled "Unwant". Due to the 'internal conflict' within Celtic Frost, Tom left the band on 2 April 2008, and has launched a new band named Triptykon. In 2008, he played guitars and bass for the cover song "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" from the 1349 (a Norwegian black metal band) album Revelations of the Black Flame and also co-mixed the album.
Brand New / Safety in Numbers is a split EP by the American bands Brand New and Safety in Numbers, released on March 6, 2002. The split was originally between Brand New and Reggie and the Full Effect, but plans fell through. After recording their debut album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001, Long Island band Brand New teamed up with their then labelmate Safety in Numbers for a split EP. Each band contributed a new song and a cover song. Brand New gave the EP a B-side called "Moshi Moshi" and a cover of the Love Spit Love song "Am I Wrong" which was popularized on the indie scene in the mid 90s.
"Night of the Living Dead" is titled after the 1968 horror film of the same name, and the song's lyrics address the zombie plot of the film: "You think you're a zombie, you think it's a scene/from some monster magazine/Open your eyes too late/This ain't no fantasy boy". "Where Eagles Dare" shares its title with a 1968 war film. "Rat Fink" is a cover of a song by Allan Sherman from his 1963 album My Son, the Nut, which itself is a parody of "Rag Mop". It was the only cover song that the Misfits recorded during their early era, though it was credited on the single itself, and on later releases, to Danzig.
The Toys Sing “A Lover's Concerto” and “Attack!” was the sole album of the girl group The Toys. It was released in 1966 right after the success of the group's first two hits, both of which are mentioned in the album's title. “Yesterday” is the only cover song on the album. The rest of the tracks are all original material that were written by the Toys' producers, Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell. Although Barbara Harris sang lead for the majority of the album (the group's producers felt that her voice was the most commercial), Barbara Parritt and June Montiero are each given a chance to sing lead as well, the former on “Hallelujah” and the latter on “Yesterday”.
This album also included their hit cover song, originally recorded by Don Henley, "The Boys of Summer", which much to the dismay of the band became their "accidental" second single after the radio station KROQ in Los Angeles started playing it, even though the band had already chosen the song "My Reply" as their second single. The single is their highest-charting single to date, reaching No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band toured behind this record for most of 2003 and into early 2004. That year also saw the release of a low-key live album, Live at the Metro, along with a track on the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack.
Live Planetarium is a live album and fifth release of Australian Christian metal band Mortification, released in 1993. It contains live versions of material from the band's three previously released studio albums, Mortification (1991), Scrolls of the Megilloth (1992), and Post Momentary Affliction (1993), as well as two new songs and a cover song. A video of Live Planetarium was released on VHS in 1994 and later on DVD in 2006. A segment on Mortification's history, from the video of Live Planetarium, was included on the Tourniquet/Mortification Collector's Edition CD Single in 1994; the disc also contained songs from Mortification's Blood World album and American Christian metal band Tourniquet's Vanishing Lessons album.
It was during this time he also began using the name "Breck Shipley". In 2014, he released a song titled Summer, and shortly afterwards, another song titled Xmas 97 under his "Jeh Sea Wells" name. In 2015, as part of Pigeons and Planes Nirvana cover song compilation Teenage Angst Has Paid Off Well, Wells recorded a cover of Heart-Shaped Box. Dead Indian released two albums, Lead Me to the Sky and When We Live, as well as one EP, Grey, during their tenure. It was announced Dead Indian was to break up on July 21, 2015 after one last concert, which was held on August 7, 2015 at The Smoke & Barrel Tavern in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Hot 8 Brass Band was propelled to wider prominence by an appearance in Spike Lee's 2006 documentary When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. Because of this appearance, according to National Public Radio, "A new legion of fans caught onto the band's mix of traditional marching music, hip hop, and R&B.;" In 2009, the band added its New Orleans style to an "Iko Iko" cover song of the Swiss band Schtärneföifi, who re-recorded their Swiss German version from 1995's Heicho - Ohni Znacht is Bed together with The Dixie Cups in New Orleans. The song was released on the new album, Wältberüemt.
Transit is the second album of the Pinoy rock band Sponge Cola, released in 2006 via Universal Records. "Bitiw" and "Tuliro" are the first two singles from the album. In an interview, Yael Yuzon explained, "I think on the first record we just wanted to have an album out as a collection of songs written from high school; while on Transit, we wanted to push the limits of our song- writing so we took a creatively different approach for every song." Transit reached Platinum status Transit Deluxe was released in 2008 with New songs,Acoustic version,Cover song from APO Hiking Society and a radio edit version,It includes a VCD with music videos from transit singles.
Spyglass Guest includes the only cover song Greenslade ever recorded, "Theme for an Imaginary Western", which Dave Greenslade and Tony Reeves had already performed with their previous band Colosseum both live and in the studio. The song was recorded against the objections of Dave Lawson, who felt it did not suit his playing style. Despite his objections, and despite the fact that he recorded all of the vocals for Spyglass Guest while being treated for a collapsed lung, most fans regard Lawson's vocal performance on "Theme for an Imaginary Western" to be a highlight of the track. The album also includes one of only two Greenslade songs to employ an outside songwriter (the other is "Hallelujah Anyway" from Large Afternoon), "Joie De Vivre".
In classical music, instrumental performers, singers or conductors may gradually make changes to the phrasing or tempo of a piece. In popular and traditional music, the performers have a lot more freedom to make changes to the form of a song or piece. As such, in popular and traditional music styles, even when a band plays a cover song, they can make changes to it such as adding a guitar solo to or inserting an introduction. A performance can either be planned out and rehearsed (practiced)—which is the norm in classical music, with jazz big bands and many popular music styles–or improvised over a chord progression (a sequence of chords), which is the norm in small jazz and blues groups.
311 Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot found his singing "freer than ever" and most of the performances "joyful", praising the music's urban blues and soul-jazz sounds. Kot said the album is a "casual tour de force", with the exception of the cover song "Moody's Mood for Love", which he felt would nevertheless be enjoyed by fans of Morrison's "Moondance" (1970). In The Village Voice, Robert Christgau said Morrison draws on the spiritual guidance of blues greats for the album's best material, highlighting the collaborations with John Lee Hooker on "Gloria" and "Wasted Years", although he lamented some aimless songs such as "In the Forest". In The Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004), Rob Sheffield said Too Long in Exile was the "breeziest" of Morrison's post-1980s albums.
The Japanese girl idol group Berryz Kobo also released a cover of the song, albeit with toned- down lyrics, which do not make mention to the more explicit details pertaining to war, rape or the consumption of alcoholic beverages found in the 1979 original. This single release marks the group's first cover song to be slotted as an a-side in a single. There are two versions to this single, a limited edition with a DVD (PKCP-5112~3) and a regular edition (PKCP-5114 – first pressing containing a photo card and a ticket for a raffle to attend an event promoting the single).ジンギスカン, Berryz工房 , Piccolotown The song was used as the main song to the group's musical, , running through January 2008.
Taylor Swift and The Weeknd were nominated for the inaugural Female and Male Artist of the Year categories (the previous two years featured simply Artist of the Year). Swift was the big winner of the night with four awards, including Best Tour and Album of the Year. Out of the 29 categories, the awards also feature 7 fan-voted categories including Best Fan Army, Best Lyrics and Best Collaboration, as well as four new categories: Best Cover Song, Best Song from a Movie, Biggest Triple Threat and Most Meme-Able Moment. Voting took place via the iHeartRadio website from February 9 through March 25, except for Fan Army and Meme-Able Moment, which continued through the evening of the awards on April 3.
Right Now was subsequently released in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2000 with a slightly modified track listing, but at first there were no plans to focus on the worldwide market. After the success of "Whole Again", the album and single were released globally except for the United States and it was decided to release the newly recorded cover song, "Eternal Flame", as well and make an additional single for the European, Australian, South African and New Zealand audiences, "You Are". A combination of their next album Feels So Good and Right Now was later released for the American audience and titled Atomic Kitten. One of the early ideas for Atomic Kitten was that of an animated pop band influenced by Japanese anime and manga.
The band added its first female member in Robin Spurs, who joined The Choir as their new bassist after a stint with local Los Angeles band The Toasters. In the year that Wide- Eyed Wonder was recorded, drummer and songwriter Steve Hindalong and his wife Nancy had their first child, Emily. Most of the songs on the album deal with Hindalong's joy over new fatherhood ("To Cover You," "When She Sees Me" and the title track) or the importance of family life ("Happy Fool," "To Bid Farewell"). After assisting with the recording of Chase the Kangaroo, Mark Heard came on board to produce two tracks for the album, including the band's first cover song, "Behind That Locked Door", by ex-Beatle George Harrison.
Drowned in Sound gave the album 8/10. In 2000 the band began to work on 'The Ugly People vs The Beautiful People' with Simon Raymonde providing his production services gratis once again, leaving his young family back in London while he and The Czars battled their way through the new songs in snowy Denver. The Czars also appeared on the compilation album, Sing a Song for You: A Tribute to Tim Buckley after being asked to cover "Song to the Siren" and were also asked to compose the soundtrack for the independent film I'd Rather Be... Gone. The EP, X Would Rather Listen to Y Than Suffer Through a C of Z's was self-produced by the band and released during the 2002 tour.
On September 9, 2009, the album was released in Japan with two bonus tracks: live versions of "I Want to Choke Your Band" and "Revol-ooh-tion" from a concert in Milwaukee, WI. On September 11, 2009, Masterful Mystery Tour was released by the German label Megapress. The CD contains a bonus track, Beatallica's cover of the J.B.O. song "Eine Guten Tag Zum Sterben" (English translation: "A Good Day For Dying"). Also of note is fact that Beatallica recorded this cover song singing the German lyrics, making this the second song they have released singing in German. Beatallica's cover version of this song was also included on the JBO 2009 album I Don't Like Metal - I Love It (Limited Edition version that includes a bonus CD).
Music critics noted the first two tracks, "Useless Animal" and "Gutter Gods," sounded both familiar and exemplary of Cult Leader's signature sound. Writing for Exclaim, Denise Falzon gave the EP a nine-out-of-ten and called these two tracks: "raw, chaotic attacks of heavy, grinding noise filled with furious, tormented aggression." Writing for SLUG Magazine, Megan Kennedy praised the EP and said these two tracks, "are short tracks, like brutal slashes with rusty blades, but there is so much energy and atmosphere in their frantic, ugly rhythms." Many critics highly praised the EP's B-side "You Are Not My Blood," a cover song originally by the indie/folk collaboration between Mark Kozelek and Desertshore from their eponymous 2013 album, Mark Kozelek & Desertshore.
Three further singles were released: the title track; "La Luna", which reached the Top 10 in Switzerland and Top 20 hit in Germany and Australia; and "(We Want) The Same Thing", which reached No. 6 in the UK. (Default is single history; may require users to click "album" tab to view album chart history). In the late autumn of 1990, the Go-Go's reunited for a tour to support their first best-of album, Greatest, including a new recording of the cover song "Cool Jerk" (The Go-Go's original cover was featured on their 1980 European EP, with a second version being released in 1982). A notable feature of the tour was an anti-fur campaign, where the band members supported the animal rights organization PETA.
The two discs released together in spring of 2008. On March 30, 2008, Borland made a post on the band's MySpace about how he filled in for the band X Japan and was "looking forward to coming home and getting back to work on the next BLB album", by which he means the second full length Black Light Burns album, due to the fact that their cover song album was already complete by that point. Two new songs appeared on Borland's MySpace page titled Cats and Cats and Cats; and B4Lf3r. Borland said that these two songs will not be on the next Black Light Burns record, and are just demos that he works on from time to time for use in other projects.
Besides Reed's "Busload of Faith", Seger included another cover song in the album, namely "Democracy", which was written by Leonard Cohen and originally released on his 1992 album The Future. A number of Seger's own compositions for the album were written and originally recorded many years or even decades ago but remained unreleased at the time. The oldest one is the uptempo rock song "Runaway Train", which was first recorded in 1993 for Seger's fifteenth studio album, 1995's It's a Mystery. The upbeat "Blue Ridge", which has been compared to Seger's "Sightseeing" from 1991's The Fire Inside, and the album's title track, "I Knew You When", both date back to 1997 and were potential candidates for Seger's 2006 album Face the Promise.
The single debuted on the Italian Singles FIMI at #2 on 5 June 2008, contemporarily, "Remedios", another cover song by Ferreri, peaked at #7 only on digital downloads. The following week "Non ti scordar mai di me" peaked at #1, but next week it was knocked off by the song "Cry" by Italian band Novecento. However, it returned at #1 after a couple of weeks and it held the pole position for an astonishing total of 15 non-consecutive weeks, becoming one of the longest running number-one hit singles as well as one of the best- selling singles ever in FIMI charts' history. The song debuted at #39 on the Italian Downloads Chart, and the following week raised-up at #2.
On June 29, Reinhart headlined the fifth annual "Rock the Runway" concert at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, and on August 29, she joined Michael Feinstein at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. On October 31, 2019, Reinhart released "Santa Baby", her first solo holiday cover song, followed by "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" on November 9 and "The Christmas Song" on November 18. On August 21, 2019, it was announced that Reinhart will make her film acting debut in Robert Rodriguez's upcoming science fiction superhero movie entitled We Can Be Heroes. The film, which follows the children of superheroes during an alien invasion, will feature an ensemble cast including Priyanka Chopra and Christian Slater and will be released via Netflix.
With more touring and an appearance at Wembley Stadium concert with Elton John and The Beach Boys, 1975 saw the recording of the band's fifth outing in the studio, the concept album Mr. Mick. It was based on stories/poems by Steve Augard and was eventually recorded at Ramport Studios, Putney with the revised line-up of Davis, Slater, Walter, Gemmell plus the addition of ex-Greenslade Dave Lawson on keyboards and Peter Van Hooke on drums. The Rocket Record Company, the group's record label, performed considerable editing on Mr. Mick, and insisted on the inclusion of a Beatles cover song, "Hold Me Tight". The album received some good press, but some shows were abandoned on the grounds that the stages were too small.

Four of the songs were holdovers from the Band sessions: "Only a Fool" and "If It Ever Stops Raining" were included on the album (the latter with new chorus lyrics as "By Your Side"), while "Peace Anyway" and "Smile" were released as B-sides. One cover song, Bob Dylan's "When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky", was recorded during the session and later released as a B-side. While touring in support of Sho' Nuff, Chris and Rich finished writing "Diamond Ring" and "Go Tell the Congregation". The two songs were recorded after the tour during a planned session for putting finishing touches on By Your Side, though the decision delayed the album's release from November 17 to January 12\.
The four remaining songs; "From Beyond", "This Goodnight", "Anti-Pop" and "Sleepy Hollow", were never released elsewhere. "Anti-Pop" is a Kommunity FK cover, which originally appeared on the band's 1983 album The Vision and the Voice; while "Sleepy Hollow" features a guest appearance by KoЯn vocalist Jonathan Davis. Another song recorded during the album sessions, but that was left out, was "Replicas"; a Gary Numan cover which originally appeared on Tubeway Army's 1979 album Replicas. The cover song was exclusively released by Beggars Banquet Records on the Gary Numan Various Artists tribute album Random on June 10, 1997. With Deadsy scheduled for worldwide release on February 25, 1997, Sire Records started pushing "The Elements" to college radio stations as the lead CD single in January 1997.
Though not successful, the experience convinced her to record a two track demo, featuring the two songs, "Mouichido" (The Kuro Buta All-Stars) and a cover song from 1970s/1980s singer-songwriter Mariya Takeuchi. She sent the demo to Avex Trax, where Mitsuru Igarashi was a producer looking for a girl for a new duo with him as the keyboardist. Impressed by her strong yet sweet voice, Igarashi asked her to join as a duo, and then asked his guitarist friend Ichiro Ito, then working as a studio receptionist, to help on the first single "Feel My Heart", created by Igarashi. Ito, over ten years Mochida's senior, has said that when first meeting the young Mochida wearing gyaru style thick platform boots, he didn't even know how to strike up conversation.

Recording was between 27 April and 3 May, and the result was a cover of the song "Down" by Jay Sean and Lil Wayne. Single "Stay" was released on June 19, 2011. On August 3, the band's debut album was released for the first time in Japan including three bonus tracks, the cover song "Down", the remixed and remastered "The Disappointment" (taken from their debut EP) and the Night Skies, the only song written during the Lightspeed recording session that didn't make it to the final cut of the album as the band didn't think it fit the rest of the album as a whole.
In 2002, Grier released Comin’ Back to Me, a solo album, to greater exposure and acclaim. She was featured on Mag Rack’s Guitar Xpress, which has also showcased artists including: The Spin Doctors, Trey Anastasio, and Les Paul. Vintage Guitar magazine wrote, “Playing songs with just your acoustic is certainly an art that some of us never master well enough to make a full album…Cathy Grier does not have that problem, whether playing fingerstyle blues, or mixing poppy chords with her strong voice”. In November 2004, she performed at Radio City Music Hall. The only cover song on the CD, Stevie Wonder’s “Love is in Need of Love Today” was chosen as a reaction to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and meant to express the need for love in tragic times.

After briefly leaving the stage, Diamandis begins the encore by performing "Happy" against a starry background; the show ends with a performance of "Blue" with snippets of the music video playing on the screens.
In July 1982, his first single was released, this time under the name of António Variações. This recording featured a cover of the seminal fado "Povo Que Lavas No Rio", immortalized by the diva of the genre, Amália Rodrigues, and an original song of his own authorship, "Estou Além", one of his best known songs that would feature in his first LP record. The cover song of the untouchable fado caused controversy among many, but over time became accepted as a heartfelt tribute of Variações to Amália Rodrigues, to whom he dedicated his first LP, "Anjo da Guarda", released in 1983, to great critical and popular acclaim. Two of the songs from this release, "O Corpo É Que Paga" and "É P'ra Amanhã" experienced frequent radio airplay, the latter being released as a Summer single.
The Use Your Illusion albums can be considered a single cohesive work, and certain elements of Use Your Illusion II underscore this intent. For instance, both albums have a version of the song "Don't Cry", and both have one cover song; "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney (Use Your Illusion I) and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan (Use Your Illusion II). Each also has at least one track sung by other members of the band: lead vocals on "So Fine" are performed by bassist Duff McKagan – the song, that was dedicated to punk rock musician Johnny Thunders, who died from a drug overdose before the recording of the album. So Fine The song "Get in the Ring" finds the band lashing out at a career's worth of critics and enemies.
In February 2017 the band released a live video of the cover song "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" by Johnny Thunders, in honor of Tia Sprocket, drummer on the band's DNA and Suburban Legends records, who had recently died. Also in memory of Tia Sprocket, Pontiac began posting weekly "cool rock bands found on Facebook" on his own profile and in a group he started called Saturday Rock Band. In May 2017 Lucid Nation's recording "Effaced" became the opening track on Silent Records compilation album Transcendigitalism - a compilation of esoteric drones followed in September by the inclusion of the Lucid Nation track "Mars Opposition Pluto" on the Silent Records compilation Tulpamancers. Spivey continued her series of Standing Rock related interviews for Reality Sandwich including activist and producer Pearl Means.
No More Hell to Pay garnered a positive reception by music critics. At CCM Magazine, Argyrakis rated the album four out of five stars, and claimed that this was one of the band's hardest and spiritually powerful albums to date. Brown of Indie Vision Music criticized the inclusion of the cover song, but gave the album four out of five stars and found the band's '80s sound a refreshing change from currently popular styles such as metalcore and techno. At HM, David Stagg gave the album three-and-a-half stars out of five, and agreed with Michael Sweet's touting of the album as the best of the band's career, stating that the one major flaw on the album is the cover of the Doobie Brothers' "Jesus Is Just Alright".
After the band's previous album Led Zeppelin III received lukewarm reviews from critics, they decided their fourth album would officially be untitled, and would be represented instead by four symbols chosen by each band member, without featuring the name or any other details on the cover. Unlike the prior two albums, the band was joined by some guest musicians, such as Fairport Convention vocalist Sandy Denny on "The Battle of Evermore", and Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart on "Rock and Roll". As with prior albums, most of the material was written by the band, though there was one cover song, a hard rock re-interpretation of the Memphis Minnie blues song "When the Levee Breaks". The album was a commercial and critical success and is Led Zeppelin's best-selling, shipping over 37 million copies worldwide.

His string of hits included: "I Promise to Remember", "The ABC's of Love" and "I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent". Up tempo doo-wop groups such as The Monotones", The Silhouettes, and The Marcels had hits that charted on Billboard. All-white doo-wop groups would appear and also produce hits: The Mello-Kings in 1956 with "Tonight, Tonight," The Diamonds in 1957 with the chart-topping cover song "Little Darlin'(original song by AfroAmerican group)", The Skyliners in 1959 with "Since I Don't Have You", " The Tokens in 1961 with "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". The peak of doo-wop might have been in the late 1950s; in the early 1960s the most notable hits were Dion's "Runaround Sue", "The Wanderer", "Lovers Who Wander" and "Ruby Baby" and The Marcels' "Blue Moon".
In 1998, Philips Electronics chose Gomez to cover The Beatles' song "Getting Better" for a $100 million ad campaign for Philips new lines of flat panel and high- definition television sets. The cover song was not released on an album until 2000 with Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline, a collection of B-sides and rarities. In 2005, Gomez signed a new deal with Dave Matthews' (of the Dave Matthews Band) ATO Records. Under a new label, the band released their first live album, Out West in June 2005. The double disc CD was compiled from shows recorded at San Francisco's famous Fillmore Theater in January 2005. In January 2006, the band performed on Jam Cruise before returning to the studio to put the final touches on How We Operate.
The album contains three "soundscape" tracks, which are named after internal organs, as segues between songs. Each of these songs is intended to suggest the possibilities of the deaths the members of the band may have suffered at the time: "Sinus" as death from cocaine use, "Liver" as death through alcohol abuse and "Lung" as death from smoking. In an ironic foreboding, Steele once told a close friend that he could not bear to listen to "Sinus" after it was mixed and completed, because the sound of the heartbeat escalating to its furious pace after the cocaine- snorting sound effect actually drove him to the point of an anxiety attack because of its realism. Also included at the end of the album is a cover song, a medley of three Beatles songs.

The album was fully released to the public on March 1, 2013 followed by a CD release show at 3065 Live in East Wareham, Massachusetts that night.

Five lead singers are featured in the 14 vocal songs on the album [excluding the brief musical interlude of "Doolin Dalton (Reprise II)"]: Henley, Frey, Joe Walsh, Meisner and Schmit. Songs from each Eagles studio album except one (On the Border) are included, as well as two Walsh solo tracks and one cover song: the acoustic harmony-laden "Seven Bridges Road." Plagued for years by internal strife, the band had reached a breaking point by July 31, 1980, when it performed a concert in Long Beach, California that served as a fund-raiser for then-Senator Alan Cranston's campaign. The version of "Life in the Fast Lane" for Eagles Live was recorded at this show, which was most notable for a dispute between bandmates Frey and Don Felder that culminated backstage, when they nearly came to blows.

In 2003, with the absence of Leo as a guitarist, the remaining members Jeff and Azhar Levi recorded a cover song "Dance Macabre" for a well received Cradle of Filth tribute album entitled Covered in Filth, and shortly after they released the highly progressive and experimental 1000 Thoughts of Violence which was also well received, being rated eight out of ten by Rock Hard and was regarded as a highlight of the year 2003 by Powermetal.de. A best-of collection of works and re-recordings of Kekal entitled Introduce Us to Immortality was also released that year. Diamond Rio has been featured on several projects featuring multiple country artists, including three tribute albums released between 1993 and 1994. The first was a cover of the Eagles' 1975 hit "Lyin' Eyes" for Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles, an album released in late 1993 via Giant Records which featured various country musicians covering that band's songs. Diamond Rio had originally wanted to record the song for Love a Little Stronger, but DuBois rejected the idea because he felt that they were not yet well-established enough to record a cover song on one of their own albums. The second was Keith Whitley: A Tribute Album, to which they contributed a cover of Keith Whitley's 1986 hit "Ten Feet Away", and the third was a cover of Merle Haggard's "Workin' Man Blues" for a tribute album entitled Mama's Hungry Eyes: A Tribute to Merle Haggard.
From the start of their career—namely with their debut "Celebration!" and album Lesson 1—the band's music was universally categorized by critics as a dance-influenced J-pop. However, Japanese magazine CD Journal believed that their debut adapted the trend of "soft" K-pop and EDM, two genres which were particularly prominent through the mid-2010s, along with its influenced on the Western market. Furthermore, the magazine noted its similarities between nameless Korean and Japanese bands because of their "catchy" dance melodies, and Billboard Japan commented about their inheritance of the dance genre from brother band Exile, which they described as "DNA". Majority of the content were handled by a variety of Japanese composers and producers, such as Clarabell, Kazuhiro Hara, and frequent songwriter Masoto Kotake, but their single "The Never Ending Story", a cover song originally performed by English singer Limahl, was composed by Giorgio Moroder.

GUG also provided archival material for production (after putting out a request to fans for footage they shot), and the release includes a retrospective of their work, interviews with band members, reactions from other artists like Spilles, Ronan Harris (VNV Nation), Rodney Orpheus (The Cassandra Complex), and departed co-founder Thomas Lücke, plus backstage footage, and other bonus materials, running to a total of over three hours. The new live footage is their entire WGT show, in 5.1 surround sound. In a Grenzwellen-News interview the same year, Zaphor was philosophical about the band's lack of great commercial success, but consistent fan-base and critical reception: A joint GUG and Trauma remastered anthology, Traumatized, was assembled in 2006 as a downloadable album by Van Richter, featuring every cover song either project has released (except "Body Electric" from the second demo tape) and a sampling of early Trauma tracks. The two projects had been coming closer together over successive releases anyway; e.g.

The Cyberflesh Conspiracy featured the only song that Stabbing Westward released on CD prior to being signed to a major label, while Rivet Head Culture was notable for popularizing the term "rivet head" (a descriptor for fans of industrial dance music) and featuring a song by Raw Dog, an unreleased side-project by Nivek Ogre and Dave Ogilvie of Skinny Puppy.
"Gloria" attained its highest profile via a re-working featured on the 1982 album Branigan, the first released album by Branigan. Although another selection, "All Night with Me", was chosen as the album's lead-off single, Branigan also performed the cover song during her promotional TV appearances at the time of the album's release in early 1982, and that track was released as a single in the summer, first becoming a disco favorite, and gradually accruing radio support to debut on the pop charts in July 1982. The single reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 27, behind Lionel Richie's "Truly", and remained there in the following two weeks, through December 11—when Richie had been supplanted by Toni Basil's "Mickey".Hot 100 December 11 1982 "Gloria" earned Branigan a nomination for the Best Pop Vocal Performance Female Grammy Award for the year 1982. Management problems with Don Arden, however, made this a difficult time for de Paul and her third album for Jet Records, Before You Go Tonight, was shelved as the two parted ways shortly after the release of "If I Don't Get You The Next One Will", her last single of the Jet Records label. Nevertheless, that year she recorded the only cover song of her recording career, the Lennon–McCartney song "Because" that appeared on the soundtrack to the movie All This and World War II. The song appeared on a double album released in 1976 to tie in with the film. The album charted in the US, the UK and the Netherlands, and was re-released as The Beatles and World War II on CD in July 2016. That same year she co-wrote the song "Don't You Remember When" for Dame Vera Lynn, after guesting on her show and being impressed by the length of time for which Lynn could hold a single note - the song features a long sustained note at the very end.
He felt that covering a pop song would "show people [he] could sing something other than the same old stuff", while also noting that many of his previous successful songs had been ballads. By early 1999, his version of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" had reached the top of the Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts; it was also his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, where it ascended to No. 17. Despite showing favor toward the cover song at the time, he later expressed disdain for recording it; he told the blog Taste of Country in 2018 that he did not think that it fit his established style, that neither the single nor the corresponding album sold well despite the song's success at radio, and that he had refused offers from the label to release another cover of a pop song. The corresponding album, also titled I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, went on to account for only one other single in "This Heartache Never Sleeps".
