From the time of Edward VI on, many of the most vital changes in ecclesiastical discipline were adopted in convocations at St Pauls and in the Abbey. Among the most important were those of 1547, 1552, 1554, 1562, 1571, 1604, 1605, 1640 and 1661. Known as the People's Theatre, the National Theatre was later built near the Van Kleef Aquarium on the western slope of the hill and closer to the Clemenceau Avenue road. Vassar Chapel The Vassar Chapel, built in 1904, is the main religious building at Vassar College, and is the largest religious edifice in Poughkeepsie, New York. Although it has been altered, repaired, and acoustically improved, it is one of the few buildings at Vassar that has not undergone considerable renovation. Each semester, the College community gathers in the Chapel for fall and spring convocations, in which the President and a notable member of the faculty deliver addresses.

The Convocations of Canterbury and York are the synodical assemblies of the bishops and clergy of each of the two provinces which comprise the Church of England. Their origins go back to the ecclesiastical reorganisation carried out under Archbishop Theodore of Canterbury (668–90) and the establishment of a separate northern province in 733. Until 1225 the synods were composed entirely of bishops, but during the thirteenth century more and more clergy were cited until by 1283 the membership was established as the bishops, deans, archdeacons and abbots of each province together with one proctor (representative) from each cathedral chapter and two proctors elected by the clergy of each diocese. The main purpose of the convocations was to take counsel for the well-being of the church and to approve canonical legislation, but in practice much time was spent in discussing the amount of tax to be paid to the Crown since the clergy were a separate estate of the realm and refused to be taxed in or through Parliament.

Before the end of the nineteenth century, the Convocation of Canterbury, which was numerically very much larger, played the major role and the activity of the Convocation of York was often little more than giving formal approval to the decisions taken by the southern province. In 1534 the convocations were subjected to the control of the Crown since they were a focus of resistance to Henry VIII's policies at the time of the Reformation and they continued to function in a restricted way under the supervision of the Crown. In 1603/4 they approved the updating and consolidation into one text of much of the Canon law of the Church of England and in 1661 after the restoration of Charles II they approved the text of the revised Book of Common Prayer before it was submitted to Parliament. Four years later, Archbishop Sheldon agreed to surrender the right of the clergy to tax themselves and as a result the convocations ceased to be licensed for business on a regular basis.

The legislative powers of the convocations varied considerably over the centuries. Canons require Royal Licence and Royal Assent, but form the law of the church, rather than the law of the land. Another assembly is the Convocation of the English Clergy, which is older than the General Synod and its predecessor the Church Assembly. Snap elections to the Ukrainian parliament were held on 21 July 2019. Originally scheduled to be held at the end of October, these elections were brought forward after newly inaugurated President Volodymyr Zelensky dissolved parliament on 21 May 2019, during his inauguration. The election result was the one-party majority, a novelty in Ukraine, for President Zelensky's Servant of the People party with 254 seats. About 80 percent of the elected candidates were new to parliament; 83 deputies managed to get reelected from the previous parliament and 13 deputies from earlier convocations.

In periods between convocations of the Congress of Soviets the CEC held supreme power. In between sessions of the Congress of Soviets the CEC was responsible for all the affairs of the Congress of Soviets. The CEC and the Congress of Soviets was replaced by the Presidium and the Supreme Soviet by several amendments to the 1936 constitution in 1938. Under the Constitution of the Soviet Union, the Supreme Soviet was the highest organ of state power and the sole organ in the country to hold legislative authority.

Historic Quad, also known as the Historic Quadrangle in Lewiston, Maine, is a grassy area of 22.4 acres (9.1 ha) enclosed by fences with five garnet gates. It is the oldest part of the Bates College campus, and serves as its historic center as well as the site of annual commencement exercises and other convocations. The areas is principally surrounded by College Street, Campus Avenue, Central Avenue and Andrews Road. The most center building on the Quad is Hathorn Hall, built in 1856 it was inducted into National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The Long Center is built into the slope of Linden Street, providing a single level on Linden Street and a three-story end of the building, overlooking Ridge Row. It was officially named Benton Hall in 1926 after Miami's twelfth president, Guy Potter Benton. Previously an important landmark, the former National Theatre (; Chinese: 国家剧场) was built on the slope of Fort Canning Park along River Valley Road in the Museum Planning Area of Singapore. The issue was discussed in the House of Lords, with the government sympathising but saying there was nothing they could do to help – only ancient monuments were eligible for financial assistance, and these could not be occupied buildings. The lighting system, consisting of 180 mercury vapor lights, was said to simulate "pure daylight." Partitions, portable bleachers, and a removable basketball floor made the building suitable for a wide variety of uses. While the intent was to provide a space large enough to hold the entire student body of Northwestern University at once during convocations and other such campus occasions, the auditorium was also used by the North Shore Music Festival and, soon after its opening, by the Second Assembly of the World Council of Churches. Hutchinson Commons (also known as Hutchinson Hall) at the University of Chicago is modeled, nearly identically, on the hall of Christ Church, one of Oxford University's constituent colleges. The great room (or main dining room) measures 115 feet by 40 feet, and was for many years the principal site of convocations of the university. It is located in Chicago's Hyde Park community and is currently used as a dining hall and lounge for university students and professors. The building was donated to the University by the banker, philanthropist and university trustee and treasurer Charles L. Following his appointment to the bishopric in 1984 and the designation of New Community Temple COGIC as the Jurisdictional Headquarters, another wing was added to the sanctuary; again, overseeing and participating in construction. The jurisdiction further grew under Bishop Thomas' leadership necessitating a third addition to the Jurisdictional Headquarters. Although the electoral campaign was far from being clear and transparent, representatives of the Democratic Bloc were the first to provide a legal challenge to the authority of the Communist Party of the Ukrainian SSR in parliament. A total of 442 National Deputies were elected – short of the 450 seat total, due to low voter turnout. In Canada, academic regalia are worn by university officials, faculty, students, and honoured guests during Graduation exercises (commonly referred to as Convocation), installations of their presiding officers, and special convocations, such as the inauguration of newly endowed professorial chairs and inductions to some of the honour and professional societies with university chapters. Academic regalia typically consist of a headgear (mortarboard, Tudor bonnet, or John Knox cap), robe, and hood. Until the 1930s, Canadian universities customarily prescribed academic robes for its professors and students at classes and lectures.

The Jamaat's walking on streets can be identified by its members carrying sleeping bags and packs of bare minimum cookery on their backs and walking in a straight line along the pathways and footpaths, when they are aiming to arrive at a destination by foot. These members use mosques as their base during their stays but particular mosques, due to more frequent tablighi activities, have come to be specifically associated with this organisation. These mosques generally hold the periodic, smaller scale convocations for neighbourhood members. During their stay in mosques, these jamaats conduct a daily gasht, which involves visiting local neighbourhoods, preferably with the help of a local guide.

Gaston Hall is an auditorium located on the third and fourth floors of the north tower of Healy Hall on Georgetown University's main campus in Washington, D.C. Named for Georgetown's first student, William Gaston, who also helped secure the university's federal charter, Gaston Hall was completed in 1901, around twenty years after the construction of the building within which it is housed. The 740-seat hall (including orchestra and balcony) is today used for numerous occasions including convocations and honorary degree ceremonies, theatrical and musical performances, and speeches. Gaston Hall has gained a reputation for hosting prominent heads of state, political leaders, and other public figures.

Designed by architect Bertram Goodhue between 1918 and 1924, and built between 1925 and 1928 without the use of structural steel, it contains about 70 integrated figural sculptures by sculptors Lee Lawrie and Ulric Ellerhusen, and interior work by mosaicist Hildreth Meiere. Today the chapel is used for ecumenical worship services, weddings, university convocations, guest speakers, musical programs, and occasional film screenings. Archbishop Benson In 1883 he was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury. Five years later Benson avoided the prosecution before a lay tribunal of Edward King, Bishop of Lincoln, under the Public Worship Regulation Act 1874 for six ritual offences by hearing the case in his own archiepiscopal court (inactive since 1699). In his judgement (often called "the Lincoln Judgement"), he found against the bishop on two points, with a proviso as to a third that when performing the manual acts during the prayer of consecration in the Holy Communion service, the priest must stand in a way that is visible to the people. Benson tried to amalgamate the two Convocations and the new houses of laity into a single assembly.

A tradition was immediately put in place whereby at sunset, on the night before home football games, as the Marching Chiefs play, Osceola's spear is set aflame as students, alumni, and fans gather around the statue to show their support. The flame is later extinguished at sunrise on the morning following the game. As of March, 2006, the university decided to light the spear for several reasons, including: selection into the NCAA basketball tournament, "National Player of the Year" awards for any sport, conference championships, graduations and convocations, etc.

Semyonov was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, sitting in the 11th convocation between 1984 and 1988 as representative of Okinsky, Tunkinsky and Zakamensky Districts, and in 1988 he was nominated deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of Buryatia. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union he was elected three times as a deputy of the People's Khural of the Republic of Buryatia for Zakamensky District, the first on 30 June 1994, and on 21 July 1994 he was elected to the first of two terms as its chairman, during its first and second convocations.

Legatine Council in London, 1237 Synods of Westminster were certain of the more important ecclesiastical councils held within the present bounds of London. In May 2001, the University of Calgary tartan was accredited in a ceremony presided over by the president of the Scottish Tartans Society, and the director of the Register of All Publicly Known Tartans. The accreditation ceremony for the university's tartan was the first to take place in Canada. Use of the black, red, and gold tartan is limited to formal ceremonies, convocations, and a small number of items sold by the University. The tartan is also used by the university's pipe band. On January 4, 2018, 21-year-old Connor Neurauter was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 2 years probation and had to register as a sex offender in Kamloops, B.C after obtaining and threatening to share photos of a minor under 16.

Only with the success of the Oxford Movement and its increasing emphases on ritualistic revival from the mid-19th century onward, did the term "High Church" begin to mean something approaching the later term "Anglo-Catholic". The responsibilities of the Chancellor include presiding over convocations, conferring degrees, and chairing the annual meetings of the Council, and the Chancellor is an ex officio, voting member of the Board of Trustees. A person is elected to the office of Chancellor on a three-year term by the Council unless there is more than one candidate, in which case an election is conducted among Queen's graduates. The Principal acts as the chief executive officer of the University under the authority of the Board and the Senate, and supervises and directs the academic and administrative work of the university and of its teaching and non-teaching staff. The Boston Social Forum was the first North American social forum to use the methodology of the World Social Forum process and adhere closely to its Charter of Principles. It was held at the University of Massachusetts Boston in Boston, Massachusetts in the United States from July 23-25, 2004, and coordinated by the Boston-based labor-community network, the Campaign on Contingent Work (later renamed Massachusetts Global Action). CCW executive director Jason Pramas was the lead organizer of the forum. Over 5,000 people from over 300 community organizations and labor unions participated in more than 550 workshops, plenary sessions, and convocations at the event--which was timed to take place just before the 2004 Democratic National Convention, also being held in Boston.

Convocation was, however, according to custom, immediately adjourned, and nothing further was done towards re-establishing its active functions during the life of the archbishop, Thomas Musgrave. In 1852 Trevor published The Convocations of the two Provinces, their origin, constitution, and forms of proceeding, a work which had considerable influence on clerical opinion, and in the same year he was returned proctor for the archdeaconry of York. On the union of the two houses of convocation, after the accession of William Thomson in 1862, Trevor was appointed synodal secretary, and in that capacity greatly extended the representative character of convocation. In 1868, quitting York, he retired to the living of Burton Pidsea in Holderness, and in 1871 he was translated by the archbishop to the rectory of Beeford with Lisset and Dunnington.

In 1995 elected Chairman of the Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on issues of environment and nature. Since 1996, he was vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, chairman of the Presidium of Karakalpakstan Branch of the Academy. As a member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan 8, 9, 10 and 12 convocations Ch Abdirov took an active part in political work, he headed the Committee on Environment and Nature Protection and participated in the drafting of legislation on the environment and addressing socio- environmental problems of the population of the Aral Sea coast. Since 1994, in addition to medical research and organization of health activities he was a deputy of the Oliy Majlis and headed the Committee on Environment and Nature Protection.

The Chamber of Deputies holds session in the Hôtel de la Chambre (Luxembourgish: Chambergebai, English: Hall of the Chamber of Deputies), located on Krautmaart (French: Marché aux herbes, English: Herb Market), in the Uewerstad quarter (French: Ville Haute, English: Upper City), the oldest part of Luxembourg City. It was originally built between 1858 and 1860 as an annex to the Grand Ducal Palace, which had, until then, been used as one of many venues for the Chamber's convocations. The building was designed by Antoine Hartmann in a unified historicist style, combining elements of neo-Gothic, neo-Renaissance, and neo-classical architectural styles. The Grand Ducal Palace, by contrast, was built over time in several architectural styles (primarily Renaissance and Baroque), but renovated in 1891 in a historicist neo-Renaissance manner.

Snetkov joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1945 and was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union at its tenth and eleventh convocations, which lasted from 1979 to 1989. He was also a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party between 1986 and 1990. During the March 1989 Soviet Union legislative election, the first relatively free Soviet elections, Snetkov, who was backed by the Communist Party, lost his seat, which represented a district in Yaroslavl, to reformist Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Podziruk, in a campaign focused on the issue of the existence of the Soviet draft. Snetkov married Aleksandra Ivanovna, who died 2011, and had a son, Vladislav Borisovich Snetkov, who also became an army officer, and who died in 1997.

The company rapidly expanded throughout Ontario, the North-West Territories and British Columbia, buying out, in 1887, J.B. Laing & Co., in 1890, John Birrell & Co., both of London and in 1908 they acquired Greenshields Western Ltd. He was also vice-chair of the Board of Governors of the University of Western Ontario, where he was a major influence in re-organization of the university when in 1908 it became a civic enterprise and also non-denominational. His generosity made possible the building of a stadium for both sports and convocations, which was completed in 1929 and named in his honour the J.W. Little Memorial Stadium. He served on the Board of Water commissioners, was a director of the London and Southeastern Railway and a vice chairman of The Western Fair.

On 1 May 2017, the journalistic investigation of the program Our money with Denis Bigus (channel 24) proved the connection between Oleksandr Turchynov and people's deputy Ruslan Lukyanchuk with three large companies (Absolut Finance, Magnate and Octave Finance) that own 1,200 exchange points of 3,500 legal currency exchange offices in Ukraine. These points exchanged currencies without cash registers, which violates the requirements of the law, since in this case automatic tax reporting is not provided to the State Fiscal Service. All these companies are listed on the nominees — Oksana and Ilona Brodovskaya and Hryhoriy Pron'ko (Oksana's father). However, their connection with the joint business of Turchinov and Lukyanchuk was proved by journalists — Oksana and her husband Valentin Brodovsky were assistants of Ruslan Lukyanchuk during four convocations of the Verkhovna Rada.

In 1954, at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in Moscow, Sovkhoz was awarded with a car for its achievements, and Melkonyan got a big gold medal. He has worked as Deputy Minister of the State Control of the ArmSSR since January 1955, subsequently as Minister of the State Control of the ArmSSR (1956-1958). Levon Melkonyan also held the following positions: Chairman of the Soviet Control Committee (1958-1961), Minister of Social Security (1961-1974), Deputy of the Arm SSR Supreme Council First Convocation (1938), Deputy of the fifth and the sixth Convocations in 1959 and 1963. He was also a candidate for membership at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia, member of the Council of Trade Unions. He was awarded with two badges of “Red Flag of Labor” in the years 1967 and 1971.

Herring was approaching the age to take up a parish ministry of his own, but this required ordination. Number 36 of the Book of Canons, confirmed by the Convocations of Canterbury and York in 1604 and 1606 respectively, demanded that all candidates for ordination take a three-fold oath, accepting the royal supremacy, the Book of Common Prayer and the Thirty-Nine Articles. Agnes Barclay In 1855, Quay married Agnes Barclay (1831-1911); they were the parents of several children, of whom five lived to adulthood Quay was interested in his family's history and genealogy. After discovering that two of his ancestors, John Quay and John Quay Jr., had married American Indians, Quay took an interest in Native Americans in the United States, and worked on their behalf in the Senate. The Delawares recognized him as a member of their tribe; Quay attended their annual summer convocations, and received several gifts and honors over the years, including election as a war chief in recognition of his military service and efforts on their behalf while serving as a member of the Senate's Indian Affairs Committee. Quay died in Beaver in 1904, and was buried at Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum in Beaver.

Tuttle (himself a former Missionary Bishop of Utah who had become bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri) led the consecration service, joined by California bishops William Ford Nichols, William Hall Moreland and Joseph Horsfall Johnson as well as mostly current or former western missionary bishops Talbot, James Bowen Funsten, Robert L. Paddock, Nathaniel S. Thomas, Benjamin Brewster and Louis Childs Sanford.

Formally, the idea of holding the meeting was put forward by Alexander Kerensky. His proposal was formalized by resolution of the meeting of the Provisional Government No. 144 of July 27, 1917, in which the purpose of the meeting was defined as the unity of state power with all organized forces of the country in view of the exclusivity of the events experienced. The meeting was attended by about 2,500 people: 488 deputies of the State Duma of all convocations, 129 representatives from the Soviets of Peasant Deputies, 100 from the Soviets of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies, 147 from the City Duma, 117 from the Army and Navy, 313 from cooperatives, 150 from commercial and industrial circles. and banks, 176 from trade unions, 118 from zemstvos, 83 from the intelligentsia, 58 from national organizations, 24 from the clergy, etc.

Electoral district 12 (, ), shortened to OVO No.12 () is one of 225 electoral districts that elects a member of parliament (people's deputy) to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's national parliament. Ukraine's electoral system is based on the mixed-member proportional representation system, which stipulates that half of a countries MPs are elected from proportional party lists, with the other half elected from first-past-the-post constituencies. A constituency's votes for a political bloc or party is tallied up with the rest of the 224 constituencies to determine the results of the proportional representation voting. It was created in 1998 and has only been won by three MPs; former President Petro Poroshenko, who has represented the constituency in three different convocations of parliament, his son Oleksiy Poroshenko, and the current MP Anatoliy Drabovskyi from the Servant of the People party.

In the Duma of the III and IV convocations, M. M. Alekseenko was one of the most prominent deputies and enjoyed great authority even among political opponents. During 9 sessions (1907-1917), he served as chairman of the Budget Commission, where he was able to establish an effective and rigorous review of the State List of Income and Expenses. Alekseenko managed to establish good contact with the ministers of finance (first of all, with V.N. Kokovtsev) and carefully monitored that budget initiatives put forward by the majority of the Duma would not lead, under the influence of populist considerations, to excessive inflation of the budget. Alekseenko, as the chairman of the Budget Commission, was able to achieve a businesslike and welcoming atmosphere in its meetings, while the general meetings of the Duma were often overshadowed by various kinds of attacks and mutual insults of deputies of extreme factions.

Liacouras also sought to impart an urban planning vision for Temple University in a concept he called "Temple Town". He invested considerable effort into redeveloping the University's main campus, with the development of on-campus housing at both sides of the campus, planning for new classroom and laboratory facilities to replace antiquated facilities, and the construction of an arena on campus on adjacent land sold to the University by the car dealership that previously occupied the space. The arena, originally named "The Apollo of Temple" (a pun on the Temple of Apollo, as well as a reference to the Apollo Theater in Harlem), was later renamed the Liacouras Center in his honor. The arena houses the intercollegiate basketball teams of the University and other athletics facilities, but a main focal point for its development was the desire of Liacouras to have academic convocations on-campus.

The Witenagemot was an assembly of the ruling class whose primary function was to advise the king and whose membership was composed of the most important noblemen in England, both ecclesiastic and secular. The institution is thought to represent an aristocratic development of the ancient Germanic general assemblies, or folkmoots. In England, by the 7th century, these ancient folkmoots had developed into convocations of the land's most powerful and important people, including ealdormen, thegns, and senior clergy, to discuss matters of both national and local significance.

The Wisconsin Field House (commonly known as the UW Field House) is a multi- purpose arena owned by the University of Wisconsin–Madison and located directly south of Camp Randall Stadium. In addition to sports events, the Field House has been the site of large community gatherings such as convocations and concerts. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. with The UW began supporting team sporting events in the 1800s. In 1892 the university completed the Red Gym for indoor sports, and in 1893 it bought Camp Randall to use as playing fields. Basketball was played at the UW beginning 1898 and grew in popularity, but the Red Gym seated only 2240 spectators, and was referred to as "the little cigar box gym." In 1925 the UW regents began discussing a larger space. With pushing from athletic director George Little the new UW Field House was dedicated in 1930.

Hasan Abdullayev (also spelled as Gasan Mamed Bagir ogly Abdullaev; ; ; August 20, 1918 - September 1, 1993) was a leading Soviet and Azerbaijani physicist, scientist and public official, who served as President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was a Doctor of Sciences in physics and mathematics, Professor of physics and mathematics, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, full Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, corresponding member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences and Russian Academy of Sciences, and in 1970-1983 was the longest-serving President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was also an elected member of the Azerbaijan SSR Parliament, and the elected member of the 8th, 9th and 10th convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. Academician Abdullayev was one of the founders of the Soviet semiconductors physics and a leading scientist in new technologies.

The speech Johnston delivered on August 14, 2011, to the Canadian Bar Association's annual meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, attracted media attention for its criticism of the legal profession: the Governor General lamented unnecessary and deliberate legal delays across Canada, the role of unscrupulous American lawyers in the unfolding of the global financial crisis, and said the profession was losing the public's trust. These comments were noted for being unusually controversial for a viceroy, but Johnston's colleagues and the editorial board of The Globe and Mail found the Governor General's words to be both unsurprising and welcome. In keeping with his focus on education, the Governor General, beginning in his early months in office and continuing throughout his time there, visited a number of universities across Canada, attending conferences, delivering lectures, and speaking at convocations. He also carried this theme on during his state and official visits to foreign countries, including in his itinerary, among other events, tours of early education facilities, delivering addresses at universities and colleges, and meetings with economic and social development groups, as well as education ministers.

During his term at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 6th convocation he held the office of Deputy Head of Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense (OU-PSD) faction and the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Transport and Communication. Tretyakov is a strong supporter of the democratic coalition and one of the key lobbyists of formation of the OU-PSD – YTB (Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc) coalition in December 2007 and the OU-PSD – YTB – Lytvyn Bloc in November 2008. During his term at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 4th, 5th, and 6th convocations he participated in creation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, and served as the Assembly’s Co-chairman from Ukraine.

Ukrainian O.O. Bogomolets medical university (now O.O. Bogomolets National medical university) on 18, April, 1990 opened the medical classes for the first time in ex-USSR and Ukraine at the initiative of academician in NAS, AMS and APS of Ukraine Ye.G. Goncharuk; these classes in 1991 acquired the status of state medical lyceums on the base of Lesia Ukrainka classical gymnasium No 117 (director – L.M. Boyko) and natural lyceum No 157 (director – V.I. Kostenko), which became the necessary component in construction of system for continuous medical education. The uniform Ukrainian medical lyceum, which founders were O.O. Bogomolets National medical university and Starokyivska (now Shevchenkivska) district state administration in c. Kyiv, was established on 11, June, 1997 with assistance from Ministry of education and science of Ukraine, Ministry of Health care of Ukraine, Kyiv city state administration. The Guardian Council of lyceum by 2014 was headed by Hero of Ukraine, Councilor of President of Ukraine, People's deputy of Ukraine from I-VI convocation, Chairman of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from I and III convocations, President of International P. Kulish Charitable Fund I.S. Pliusch.

The origins of the Stannary Convocations of both Devon and Cornwall are uncertain. Some Cornish nationalists have asserted that the stannary law and institutions of Cornwall and Devon predate the Roman conquest of Britain in 43 CE, although it is more likely that stannary law (as a part of the English legal code) emerged in the twelfth century as an attempt to codify the existing customs relating to tin mining and was therefore influenced by Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and Norman practices. The first written accounts of stannary law, from which the stannary institutions developed, were in relation to tin coinage (a tax payable to the Crown on smelted tin), which is first recorded as having been collected in 1156, although by that time it was recognised that there was already a body of customary law that governed the practices of tin miners, merchants and smelters. From the perspective of English law, no special administrative arrangements were made for the stannaries before 1198, which suggests that litigation in respect of the mines was brought in the ordinary hundred and shire courts of Devon and Cornwall.

During that time he was a security guard in Kyiv for the agrarian company "Ukrayina" and from 1992 the chief editor of newspaper "Tovarishch". With revival of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1993, he switched to it and was the chief editor of newspaper "Kommunist" (until 1997). In 1994 he lost in parliamentary elections placing fourth in his electoral district (Lviv Oblast). In 1998 Martyniuk was finally elected to the Verkhovna Rada as sixths on the party list for the Communist Party of Ukraine. Initially a member of the Communist faction in the parliament, in 1998-2000 he was part of non-affiliated. At the end of 2000 Martyuniuk returned to the faction of Communist Party of Ukraine. Since that time he was elected to the Ukrainian parliament for the next four convocations and was member of Communist faction until 2014. In 2004 Martyniuk's daughter, Nataliya Adamivna Martyniuk as passenger of government vehicle that was involved in a car accident in result of which died an Olympic runner-up and Ukrainian athlete Alexander Beresch. For the 2006 elections Martyniuk was second on the party list and on several occasions he held position of the first vice-speaker of the parliament.
