The early Didascalicon was an elementary, encyclopedic approach to God and Christ, in which Hugh avoided controversial subjects and focused on what he took to be commonplaces of Catholic Christianity. Julie Borlaug, daughter of Norman Borlaug, added, "[Folta] has not shied away from controversial subjects and has often been the number one target of the anti- science movement on behalf of all of us who support biotechnology.

While the band worked on The Notorious Byrd Brothers album throughout late 1967, there was increasing tension and acrimony among the members of the group, which eventually resulted in the dismissals of Crosby and Clarke. McGuinn and Hillman became increasingly irritated by what they saw as Crosby's overbearing egotism and his attempts to dictate the band's musical direction. In addition, during the Byrds' performance at the Monterey Pop Festival on June 17, 1967, Crosby gave lengthy in-between-song speeches on controversial subjects, including the JFK assassination and the benefits of giving LSD to "all the statesmen and politicians in the world", to the intense annoyance of the other band members. He further irritated his bandmates by performing with rival group Buffalo Springfield at Monterey, filling in for ex-member Neil Young.

One of the more controversial subjects to come to light during the NSU murder trial is the level of cooperation and support that neo-Nazi informants and organizations receive from the Federal Office for Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany's domestic security agency. The BfV began cultivating informants from Germany's neo-Nazi groups in the early and mid-1990s to deal with the rise in anti-immigrant crime like the Rostock- Lichtenhagen riots of 1992. During the trial it became clear that BfV informants were aware or potentially aware of the homicides and other crimes attributed to the NSU and that this information was not shared with local police. Reports exist that one undercover intelligence agent, who harbors right-wing sympathies, was at the site of one of the murders.

This part concludes the Floor Show, as Riff Raff begins to fire on the group, demanding that Frank returns to Transsexual, in the galaxy Transylvania. The title of the preceding section originated from an advertisement for the lingerie company Frederick's of Hollywood, featured in every issue on the back page of a film magazine popular in Richard O'Brien's boyhood town. The advertisement presented gender-ambiguous models in a line- drawn style wearing lingerie, accompanied by the statement in a large font: "DON'T DREAM IT, BE IT!". O'Brien states in a retrospective interview for the film it was somewhat known amongst readers that the ad was directed discreetly towards 'cross dressers' and other purveyors of lingerie besides women; transvestism and gender-fluidity being highly controversial subjects at the time.

Until Butter's historical era, news in England was transmitted primarily in manuscript form; early circulating news manuscripts — rather like hand-written newspapers, available by subscription from the earliest news services -- were becoming more common in Butter's generation, and Butter himself was actively involved in their creation and dissemination. Butter's shop at the Pied Bull was itself a kind of early news agency; news correspondent (in the literal sense) John Pory sent and received his communications from there, and news-conscious customers came in to find the latest tracts and pamphlets.

The show was a major influence on TV journalism spawning many successors, most notably of which the recurring documentary series CBS Reports, and 60 Minutes, which was created by See It Now producer Don Hewitt and initially featured former See It Now producers Palmer Williams and Joe Wershba. Murrow's hard- hitting approach to the news eventually cost him influence in the world of television, although his celebrity talk show Person to Person remained a fan favorite, with better ratings than See It Now had. See It Now occasionally scored high ratings (usually when it broached particularly controversial subjects), but in general it did not score well on prime-time television. When the quiz show phenomenon took TV by storm in the mid-1950s, Murrow knew the days of See It Now as a primetime fixture on CBS were numbered.

The Communist Party has undertaken more restrictive measures as a result of the increasing challenges blogs and social media have presented to the Party. In 2008, the Ministry of Information and Communications introduced new rules banning Internet content which "opposes the state … undermines national security, social order and safety, causes conflict or discloses national security, military or economic secrets" – a very broad definition allowing for many types of Internet content to be banned. Blogs, in particular, have increased in political importance since 2006, such that the Vietnamese blogosphere today is an "active online public sphere" and blogs are seen by many Vietnamese as a source of alternative viewpoints from official government media. Activist bloggers have written about controversial subjects in Vietnam such as human rights, freedom and democracy, and some have even questioned the legitimacy of the Communist Party's right to rule and criticised important political figures.

Huey is an African- American, 10-year-old boy who recognizes and detests the absurdities and injustices (both obvious and perceived) of the society in which he lives. The charismatic side of his mentality and persona involves having logic, rationalism and intelligence, but his negative side also involves cynicism, skepticism, and criticism that often touches upon controversial subjects such as politics, religion, the media, businesses and corporations, African- American culture and American society as a whole, often in either facts or opinions. Huey is also seen quoting Khalil Gibran from time to time which shows his interest in poetry too. Tending to be obstinate in both manner and speech, Huey has demonstrated a depth of understanding that would seem to surpass his young age, such as knowing roughly what is going to happen in the future based on the actions and personalities of the people involved.

His diverse works of fiction, noted as adaptations of Expressionist techniques over conventional narratives, range from psychological and biographical novels to pioneering fantasy and science fiction writings, and also include a sizable contribution to erotic literature. Aderca's open rejection of tradition, his socialism and pacifism, and his exploration of controversial subjects resulted in several scandals, making him a main target of attacks from the far-right press of the interwar period. As a member of the Jewish-Romanian community and a vocal critic of antisemitism, the writer was persecuted by successive fascist regimes before and during World War II. He afterward resumed his activities as author and cultural promoter, but, having failed at fully adapting his style to the requirements set by the communist regime, lived his final years in obscurity. Married to the poet and novelist Sanda Movilă, Aderca was also noted for his networking inside the interwar literary community, being the interviewer of other writers and the person behind several collective journalistic projects.

The newspaper formed a reputation for tackling controversial subjects using blunt language, and publishing articles criticising what it considered to be examples of corruption or malpractice in local government and other local organisations - in fact, the last online issue had an apology on the front cover relating to an earlier story (dated 30 April 2008) alleging that a local councillor acted improperly when handling planning matters relating to business premises. As might have been expected, the relationship between the Mayo Echo and the local council (Mayo County Council) was not amicable, and, in the last online edition, editor Tony Geraghty stated that there had been a three-year boycott of the paper by the Council. It is understood that the Mayo Echo was not available in the Mayo County Library and the Council operated an advertising boycott. A Mayo Echo piece which claimed that hundreds of people would be relocated from troubled housing estates in Limerick to Mayo was described as "off the wall".

Parents who want their children taught according to the principles of their church, can choose to send their children to such schools, but unless the school is subsidized by their church, or is part of a school choice or education voucher program funded by the government, they must pay tuition. Some American Christian schools are large and well-funded, while others are small and rely on volunteers from the community. Some Christian schools, especially those sponsored by fundamentalist groups, do not accept government funding and subsidies because (in their opinion) they would put their school (and potentially their church) operations under more government scrutiny and legislation, which can lead to the government dictating their school's operation (and, possibly, the church's teachings on controversial subjects such as abortion or homosexuality). An example of this would be a requirement to adhere to a state Civil Rights law, in exchange for the subsidy, this would conflict with a Christian school that has mandatory religious requirements for admission, or does not allow its students to opt out of attending religious services.
