On October 15, 2009, DJ Tukutz enlisted for two years in mandatory military service, two days after his marriage. He was discharged in August 2011. While DJ Tukutz was conscribed, Epik High's seventh studio album Epilogue was released under Woollim Entertainment on March 9, 2010 to chart success. The music video for its title track, "Run", featured several members of the Woollim-signed boy band Infinite prior to their debut: L as the video's protagonist, Sunggyu as guitarist, Woohyun as bassist, and Sungjong as keyboardist.

Shingen Yashida appears in the 2013 film The Wolverine, played by Hiroyuki Sanada. Heavily adapted from Lord Shingen, he is shown as the father of Mariko Yashida and the son of billionaire Ichirō Yashida. After the Yashida technology empire is conscribed to his daughter despite Shingen's efforts to cover up his father's near-bankruptcy, he grew hateful of him and conspired with the minister of Justice Noburo Mori in using the Yakuza. Despite Ichirō's adoption of Yukio, Shingen often treats Yukio with contempt due to her being a mutant.

During the first three decades Mandel was very fond of fighting, but a less aggressive, gentler character was developed during the highly successful period of Nils Egerbrandt's work, starting in the 1960s. Mandel Karlsson is a young man, aged perhaps 20 or 21, doing conscribed military service in the Swedish Army, based at the fictional Klackamo Regiment. His number is "91", thus he is widely known in Sweden as "91:an Karlsson", although in the comic strip itself he is almost always referred to as Mandel (Eng: Almond, an extremely unusual first name), or simply 91:an. The son of Mandolina and Johan Karlsson, Mandel comes from a working-class rural background.

However, in reality each region did not follow this conscription rule. There were departments that conscribed more individuals like Puy-de- Dôme, the Haute-Loire, and Yonne, located more in central France while other areas that sent less than expected, like Seine, Rhône, and Basses-Pyrénées—all located further from the capital of France, away from the central government troubles. Many individuals who were conscripted by the French deserted, fleeing from their duty of fighting for France without permission, in hopes of never getting caught. There were rough estimates to the number of individuals that deserted during the time of the Levée en Masse, but due to many factors, like the inability to manage and keep track of all the armies or differentiating between men with similar names, the exact number is unclear.

While he did succeed the respective bishops in Constance (1800) and Worms (1802), he failed to succeed in Mainz as bishop, though he did succeed in Mainz's temporal rights and also, de facto, in the pastoral ones as far as the right bank of the Rhine was concerned. As statesman, Dalberg was distinguished by his patriotic attitude, whether in ecclesiastical matters, in which he leaned to the Febronian view of a German national church, or in his efforts to galvanize the atrophied machinery of the Empire into some sort of effective central government of Germany. Failing in this, he turned to the rising star of Napoleon, believing that he had found in him the only force strong enough to save Germany from dissolution. By the Treaty of Lunéville in 1801, in which all territories on the left bank of the river Rhine were ceded to France, Dalberg's predecessor had to surrender Mainz and Worms; the Concordat of 1801 had reduced Mainz to a simple diocese in the province of Mechelen that conscribed the French department of Donnersberg (including the city of Worms).
