Vidyasagar Setu is a toll bridge. It has capacity to handle more than 85,000 vehicles in a day. The design of the bridge differs slightly from other bridges, which are of live load composite construction. The difference is in the dead load design concept adopted for this bridge and concreting of the side spans done with support provided by the intermediate trestle.

A proposed series of canals connecting the river with Sydney Harbour was not commenced. A sewage farm operated near the mouth of the river from 1889 to 1916. By 1994 the pivot span and turning machinery of the old bridge were dismantled. In the period 2002–2003, a complete overhaul was carried out on the old bridge related to the construction of the Ladozhsky Rail Terminal with a total value of around 900 million rubles. Duaringa Ambulance Station, 2012The local ambulance station, opened in 1970, is unique in the fact that it was built almost exclusively by voluntary labour performed by local Duaringa residents. After local postmistress Nancy Andrews donated a substantial parcel of land for the purpose of establishing an ambulance station next to the Duaringa Post Office, the Rockhampton Ambulance Committee engaged the services of architect Edward Hegvold to draw up plans for the proposed building. Once the plans were approved, the voluntary labour commenced construction. Six local residents donated timber, gravel and sand for concreting.

Plans are underway to replace the RBMK-reactors with four new reactors of the VVER-1200 type, with the plant identification "Leningrad II". On 25 October 2008, Saint Petersburg Atomenergoproekt began concreting the foundation plate of the reactor building of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant II, Unit 1. The federal government and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate participated in financing the station and the state also built the new autobahn interchange. Under the planning arrangements of 1998, Rhineland-Palatinate state government would provide finance of DM 5.75 million and the town would fund DM 750,000. Montabaur mayor, Paul Possel-Dölken, expected in 1998 that the station would generate 300 new jobs and 2,000 additional apartments for new residents. Thus the new venture was established, employing local workers whose experience was crucial in the organisation of this new and intrepid undertaking. By August 1957, the Peter Klepec, a floating dredger had deepened the seabed along the northern shore of town, and concreting the area around the first berth began in December.

Wuqiu Lighthouse (labeled as 'Light' on Wu-ch'iu Hsü (Ockseu) ) (1953) The lighthouse was constructed by the Netherlands in 1874 with engineer David Marr Henderson and deputy engineer John Ropinald to serve as navigation aid for ships sailing between Fuzhou and Xiamen. The lighthouse lost its top structure during World War II and was repaired afterwards to become a lower black lighthouse in 1947. However, the lighthouse became inactive in 1951 as part of military strategy due to the tension with People's Liberation Army. In 1960-1975, works were made to improve the lighthouse, such as concreting the wall, increasing its height, adding house inside the wall and creating a connecting tunnel.

Joseph Bazalgette's remediation of the ensuing 1850s Great Stink renewed much of London's sewerage mains infrastructure during the period 1859 to 1865. However, the new design was not intended to cope with the doubling of London's population over the following 150 years. The concreting of huge amounts of London's green spaces causes substantial rainwater run-off into the drainage and sewerage systems which had been expected to soak into the ground.

Construction commenced in 1912 on new outdoor swimming pools beside the brook. During World War I, the park was used to grow potatoes and timber which was supplied to the Walsall War Agricultural Committee.
