International Conference on Interactive Computer Aided Learning (ICL) is an annual International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE) conference. ICL is a conference covering topics on interactive computer aided learning. ICL is an interdisciplinary conference focusing on the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences gained while developing and testing elements of interactive computer aided learning. This conference is annually organized by the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in Villach Austria in cooperation with a number of organizations and groups.

The Walton Foundation Library and Resource Area occupies three levels of the building and is open to medical students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The building houses two computer-aided learning centers, known as CALC labs and, atop the building, is the campus greenhouse. Fisher Hall's chemistry and biology laboratories received nearly $6 million in upgrades in 2010. The Frame-Westerberg Commons is the student center. Positioned in front of the commons is a 10.5 foot-long (3.2m) bronze panther statue created by Bradford native David Hodges. Edinburgh Electronic Medical Curriculum is an online virtual learning environment (VLE) which allows students securely protected access direct to any of the information on or for the MBChB course. It also encompasses announcements, discussions and the use of the tools embedded in EEMeC to facilitate and manage students' progress through the course including exam results and computer aided learning programmes. Created in 1998 this was one of the first of its kind in the world and has since provided a model for other medical schools to follow. Non-Instrumental Movement Inhibition (NIMI) is a psychological phenomenon; it is a form of embodied behavior, where the body reveals the thoughts and emotions in a person's mind. During NIMI, visual engagement or attention leads subconsciously to lower levels of fidgeting (and other non-instrumental movements). Non-Instrumental movements are bodily actions that are not related to the goal of the current task; for example, when in a classroom and the goal is to listen to a lecture, non-instrument (unnecessary) movements include fidgeting, scratching, postural micromovements, and certain emotional expressions. NIMI is important for recognizing boredom during human-robot interaction, human-computer interaction, computer-aided learning with automated tutoring systems, market research, and experience design.

During the late 1960s computers were beginning to make an impact on education and John Duke, the Council's newly appointed assistant Director proposed a major initiative in computer-based learning.Hooper R., 1977, Editorial Introduction, British Journal of Educational Technology, 8-3 p164 The Council set up a Working Party to investigate the potential role of the computer and to outline a programme of research and development. Following a feasibility study the Council set out the case for a 5-year programme in 'computer-based learning' in 1969. The Government, following much discussion amongst the interested departments and an intervening general election, announced the approval of Mrs Thatcher, Secretary of State for Education and Science to a 'National Development Programme in Computer Aided Learning' in a DES press release dated 23 May 1972.
