The annual rock and pop charity concert began in 2000, and the event sees several students auditioning to perform, from each year of the senior school. The concerts are known as "K2000", with the name changing each year (i.e. K2006 in 2006). It has become a tradition for members of the Upper Sixth to act as compères on the night of the event, and for a group of upper sixth formers to perform a comedy music and dance routine.

As for the "compères", they are all very dangerous and mean and are the archetypes of the villains, so that the series was designed as largely dualistic and moralistic.

Fathers' Day is a 1997 American comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Nastassja Kinski. It is a remake of the 1983 French film Les Compères. In the film, Collette Andrews (Kinski) enlists two former lovers, cynical lawyer Jack Lawrence (Crystal) and lonely, ex-hippie, suicidal writer Dale Putley (Williams) to help her search for her runaway teenage son Scott by telling each man that he is the father. When Jack and Dale run into each other and find out what is happening, they work together to find Scott and determine the identity of the actual father.

The Malta Song for Europe 2006 was won by Fabrizio Faniello with I Do. The event took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. The compères for the contest were Eileen Montesin and Josef Bonello, while Lou Bondì hosted the entertainment part. The festival was put up by an all-new organization committee and was under even harder scrutiny by the media than is already usual in the country. Thus the audio problems to Fabrizio Faniello (who was given the black-striped microphone instead of the red-striped one with his preferred settings) and those to Ali & Lis (who had a defective, white-striped, microphone) punctually created an uproar of criticism, apart from the obvious anxiety to the performers themselves during the evening.
