Wellman, published by Arcadia Publishing in June 2008, Blackwell served as warden of Alcatraz at its most difficult time from 1961 to 1963 when it was facing closure as a decaying prison and financing problems and at the time of the June 1962 escape. At that time, he was on vacation in Lake Berryessa in Napa County, California. The incident in which Doc chops off several fingers with a hatchet was based on an actual incident that took place in 1937.

When the overweight Eddie slices chunks of fat from his stomach, the contraption kills him after Simone chops off her arm and tips the scale until the timer expires. Their game is observed by Mark Hoffman, who had exited the box to safety, and implants the scene with fingerprints using FBI Agent Peter Strahm's severed hand. The police and FBI Agent Dan Erickson investigate along with FBI Agent Lindsey Perez, whose survival was concealed by Erickson for her protection.

When he tries to convince her to go with him to Seoul, the Chief is enraged. He beats Mi-sook, then convince the villagers that Woo-ryong is actually a communist spy who brought the rats with him and seduced Mi-sook. At a village meeting, the Chief uses a dead cat as evidence that Woo-ryong has not rid the village of rats, and holds up Woo-ryong's English note as proof that he is a spy; it is revealed to the audience that the note actually says nothing more than 'kiss my ass, monkey.' The villagers turn against the piper and the Chief's son Nam-soo chops off several of his fingers.

The dubbed English version was completed in 1996 and released in the US on VHS on April 28, 1998, renamed as "Adventures of Mowgli".
