"Choosey Beggar" was a 1965 song recorded by Motown R&B; group The Miracles on its Tamla label subsidiary. It was issued as the B-side of the group's top-20 million-selling single,Coryton, Demitri; Joseph Murrells. Hits Of The Sixties: The Million Sellers "Going to a Go-Go", and was taken from the group's Billboard Top 10 Pop album of the same name. Written by Miracles members Smokey Robinson and Pete Moore and produced by Robinson, this song also became a national hit, reaching number 35 on the Billboard R&B; chart.

The remix version was performed live on an episode of the Nickelodeon series All That in February 1997. The song's big-budget video, directed by Hype Williams, was an allusion to the Martin Scorsese film Casino. Eventually, however, lead singer Ronald Isley sought interest in a few of the tracks, including the title song, which was composed by the trio of Jasper and the younger Isley brothers in response to Marvin Gaye's hit, "Sexual Healing". Adding additional composition, Ronald helped to compose "Choosey Lover" with the younger brothers with the melody based on Earth, Wind & Fire's "Devotion". Other songs reflected on social commentary included "Slow Down Children", aimed at inner city youth, and the anti-war song, "Ballad for the Fallen Soldier". Much like The Real Deal, Jasper and the other Isleys began adding background vocals to the tracks, whereas in previous Isley records, the vocals had been handled primarily by Ronald and older brothers Kelly and Rudolph.

They were similarly discriminating when presented with photographs of wing patterns instead of actual mates. The wing patterns of H. heurippa individuals also make them undesirable as mates for members of their parents' species as well, showing evidence for reproductive isolation between H. heurippa and its putative parental species. In the interview, Moore revealed for the first time that he was the group's uncredited vocal arranger. The second most prolific songwriter in the Miracles after Robinson, Moore's compositions have been recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, George Michael, The Rolling Stones, Ramsey Lewis, Tom Jones, Luther Vandross, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Debby Boone.
