The village has one school, three pubs, a hotel, and a garden center. Childer Thornton is exactly halfway in distance between Birkenhead and Chester and one of the pubs is named 'The Halfway House', which was a stagecoach stop between Chester and New Ferry in the 1770s. Childer Thornton's other pubs are 'The Burleydam' and 'The White Lion'. The Village Petrol Station is equipped with a charging station for electric vehicles.

Their album, Childer of Possibility, was released on Ninja Tune Records in 2005. U Can't Lurn Imaginashun was his return on BBE records in May 2009 that featured the single "Soldier" by Big Red (MC).

Notable woods in the vicinity include Colliers Wood, Childer Hill Copse, and North. Alton Abbey lies approximately away from the centre of the hamlet, and a Roman building is also situated near Wivelrod House. According to the 2011 census Bentworth had a population of 553 people, of which 33.30% of them were in full-time employment, somewhat lower than the national average of 37.70%. In addition, the parish contains 221 households with an average size of 2.62 people.

Trinity Lane originally linked the High Street (now Trinity Street) with the wharfs on the River Cam. In the 16th century, the east–west part of the lane was known as Find Silver Lane or King's Childer Lane and the north–south section formed part of Mill Street. Before King's College was built, this street continued on to what is now known as Queens' Lane, leading off the north of Silver Street. Trinity Lane has changed little for several centuries.

A third, Italianate, hall was constructed circa 1778, but this later sold to cover the Stanley family's gambling debts in 1850. The hall and adjoining land was bought by a Mr. Naylor, a wealthy Liverpool banker, for 82,000 guineas. He spent a further 50,000 guineas on the addition of a 100-foot tower, an art gallery, and a large dining hall. He also built a racecourse, polo ground, heronry, stud farm and a church in Childer Thornton in memory of his first wife.

During the middle of 1992 the band toured with the new bassist Dragiša Uskoković "Ćima", with whom they recorded the final studio album Neko nas posmatra (Somebody Is Watching Us), released in May 1993. The album featured a more accessible and communicative sound especially present in the songs "Ponos" ("Pride"), "Jadransko more" ("The Adriatic Sea"), "Just Let Me Play Some Modern R'n'R Music" and "Zajedno" ("Together"). For the first time, the band had included a cover song on and album, "Istina Mašina" ("Truth Machine"), originally performed by the Yugoslav rock band Time. The album was produced by Mladenović and featured Srđan Todorović, Tanja Jovićević and a childer choir as guest performers.

The lower ground to the south-east of Bentworth and to the south of the nearby villages of Lasham and Shalden drains towards the River Wey which rises to the surface near Alton. Near Hall Place is the village duckpond, with cottages opposite it dated to 1733. Such names as Colliers Wood and Nancole Copse in the parish point to the early operations of the charcoal burners, the colliers of the Middle Ages. Other woods in the area include Gaston Wood, Childer Hill Copse, Miller's Wood, Thedden Copse, Well Copse, North Wood, Wadgett's Copse, Bylander's Copse, Nancole Copse, Widgell Copse, South Lease Copse, Stubbins Copse and Mayhew's Wood.

With Greg Pickersgill, he was a leading light of "Ratfandom" in London in the 1970s. He produced two science fiction fanzines, Fouler (with Pickersgill) and True Rat, both noted for their acid humour; and participated in the oneshot fanzine An Egregious Guide To The Conventions with Pickersgill.
