Orca Airways was a scheduled and charter airline based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The airline provided scheduled commercial service, cargo and charter services, and aircraft management in Canada and the western United States. Orca operated a fleet of that includes 14 Piper PA-31-350 Chieftains, 1 Fairchild SA227s and 2 Beechcraft Model 100 King Air. The company operated from the south terminal at Vancouver International Airport.

It was founded by Adnan Dabbagh, former Executive Vice-President of Operations of Saudia. The major stakeholders in the carrier were Saudia which held a (40%) stake in the carrier, with Bin Laden Group, the Naghi Group and Al Tayyar Travel Group holding (12.75%).
CanWest Air is a charter airline based in La Crete, Alberta. Founded in 1986 as Little Red Air Service, CanWest Air provides on-demand charter services to the communities of the Little Red River Cree Nation as well as to various other companies throughout northern Alberta. Nor-Alta Aviation also provides Air Ambulance services under contract from Alberta Health Services. Nor-Alta Aviation purchased Can-West Corporate Air Charters Ltd.
Tuguegarao Airport (; ; ) is an airport serving the general area of Tuguegarao, the capital city of the province of Cagayan in the Philippines. Located along Maharlika Highway, the airport is accessible from adjacent municipalities in Cagayan and northern Isabela. It is classified as a major commercial domestic airport by the Air Transportation Office. The airport is currently served by Cebu Pacific, Sky Pasada and charter airline Royal Air Charter Service.

Eastern Airlines, LLC, previously Dynamic International Airways, is a U.S. Certificated airline founded in 2010. The airline operates Boeing 767-200ERs and Boeing 767-300ERs. It began as Dynamic Airways, the company added "International" to its name to reflect its transition from a charter airline into scheduled international services. Under the Dynamic name, Dynamic was headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, offering service from New York to South America.
Unlike many of its contemporary charter airline rivals, as exemplified by Dan-Air, one of its chief rivals, Air Europe had made a name for itself by becoming a pioneer in offering genuinely enjoyable as well as affordable jet travel for the average holidaymaker, which decisively broke with the charter airline industry's "cheap but cheerful" image. Air Europe was also typical of the trend which dominated the British holiday market in the 1980s, with tour companies operating their own in-house airlines, which, although accruing considerable capital expense in the first instance, enabled these companies to offer lower prices by effectively cutting out the "middle man". Intasun and its associated ILG-owned tour companies, Global and Lancaster, became what many consumers saw as the cheaper alternative to the other main British tour operator of the time, Thomson Holidays. The existence of these two major brands helped open up the foreign holiday market.
One of Monarch's rivals in the package holiday sector, Court Line, was forced into receivership. While the company took on several former staff from Court Line, Monarch itself was not immune to these difficulties either. The group was founded under the Airtours brand in 1972, when David Crossland purchased a series of small travel agencies in Lancashire, United Kingdom. The group began operating package holidays and launched its own in-house charter airline, in the early 1980s. It offered their first charter flights to the Caribbean in 1987 for just £299. In 1994, Airtours purchased Scandinavian Leisure Group and in 1996 it bought Simon Spies Holding, a Danish rival.

She spent a year in Bern, Switzerland as a high school exchange student, later dropping out of high school to become first a travel agent and then a flight attendant. She was first employed in the flight industry in 1996 with a charter airline based in Miami, Florida. After the charter went out of business, Simonetti was hired by Delta Air Lines.

Since 8 June 2018, Smartwings, a Czech charter airline, is the first operator to regularly fly with a medium-sized jet to Paros. The flight is operated with a fuel stop at Santorini Airport on the return leg, due to no fuel being available at Paros. Olympic Air, a subsidiary of Aegean Airlines, financed both the construction of the first phase of the terminal and the infrastructure works for the new airport.
MyTravel Airways Limited was a British scheduled and charter airline with headquarters in Manchester, England. It operated worldwide holiday charter services mainly for its parent company, the MyTravel Group. The airline merged with Thomas Cook Airlines UK Limited in 2008 and was renamed Thomas Cook Airlines Limited. The airline was founded in 1990 as Airtours International Airways and was to be the in-house airline for Airtours Holidays, (Going Places Travel Agent).

LaMia, short for Línea Aérea Mérida Internacional de Aviación, is a defunct Bolivian charter airline headquartered in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as an Ecojet Airlines subsidiary. It had its origins in the failed Venezuelan airline of the same name. Founded in 2015, LaMia operated three Avro RJ85 aircraft as of November 2016. The airline received international attention when one of its aircraft crashed in November 2016, killing many members of Brazilian football club Chapecoense.
Air Europa was founded by the International Leisure Group (ILG) as charter airline in . Based in Palma de Mallorca, private Spanish investors made up 75% of the stock, while the remaining 25% was held by ILG. Operations started on , linking the Canary Islands with London using Boeing 737-300 equipment. In 1993, Air Europa became the first privately owned Spanish carrier in operating domestic scheduled services; international scheduled services started in 1995.
Trolley Dollies was a 20-part TV documentary series aired on British digital network LIVING in 2005. It followed the lives of a number of Cabin Crew at UK charter airline Excel Airways. During the series, Excel Airways crew travelled to various countries. The show followed their lives both in and out of work, both on the aircraft and downroute on stop-overs at exotic destinations such as Tobago, Goa and Africa.
Sunclass Airlines A/S (formerly Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia) is a Danish charter airline that operate charter services from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The company is affiliated with Ving Group, a Nordic tour operator. It and Ving Group were a part of Thomas Cook Group until 23 December 2019 when Norwegian investor Petter Stordalen and Strawberry Group rebranded the company as Sunclass Airlines. The airline was originally founded in 1994 as Premiair.
Lib Mandi Metropolitano Airport is an airport serving the coastal town of Santa María del Mar, in the metropolitan area of Lima. It is located inside the Lima Region of Peru. The runway is inland from the Pacific Ocean shore. It is a base of a school of pilots (Master of the Sky) and it serves now as a hub for the new regional charter airline Aerolink, that connects Lima with other small towns in the country.

Hawa Air was a charter airline that operated from Deurne, Belgium, in the 1970s and 1980s. The airline flew international services on jet aircraft, but included a flight school, courier service, overnight delivery service and an aircraft maintenance facility.
For similar reasons, when operating the Orlando, Florida route, the sister 747 used name of the US airline Orionair. This caused much confusion as some passengers thought they were flying with the (now defunct) British Charter airline Orion Airways of East Midlands. Lionair began to experience a string of delays due to aircraft technical issues, sometimes seeing its Airtours holiday passengers stranded for days. In 1989, Airtours decided to terminate its long-haul flying programme with the company.
Ryan Air was established in 1953 as Unalakleet Air Taxi by Wilfred Ryan Sr. as a charter airline. In the 1960s, the company began handling USPS mail delivery and transportation of schoolteachers for the Bureau of Indian Affairs between communities along the lower Yukon River. In 1977, Wilfred P. Ryan Jr. took over the company after his father died of cancer. In 1979, the company expanded service beyond the Norton Sound and changed their name to Ryan Air.
TransAer went into liquidation on 20 October 2000. Prior to the collapse, an 18-month contract was signed in 2000 to help set up a new airline in Kosovo. The collapse was blamed on the adverse effects of the Kosovo war, a failed $18 million investment in American airline TransMeridian and losses of $14 million incurred by TransAer's German and Greek charter airline business. The business failed with outstanding debts of £30 million and made 450 employees redundant.
Partnair A/S was a Norwegian charter airline which operated from 1971 to 1989. During the later 1980s it was Norway's fifth-largest airline by revenue, operating a fleet of three Convair CV-580 and six Beechcraft Super King Air. The airline was based at Oslo Airport, Fornebu, as well as operating a base at Stavanger Airport, Sola. The airline was established as Paralift in 1968 to allow a group of friends to operate a Cessna 182 for parachuting.
Lauda Air Luftfahrt GmbH, branded as Lauda Air, was an Austrian airline headquartered at Vienna International Airport in Schwechat. It was owned by Niki Lauda during much of its existence, later becoming a charter airline subsidiary for leisure operations of Austrian Airlines. In 2005, Air Berlin signed a partnership agreement with Germania. As part of the deal, Air Berlin leased some of Germania's aircraft and crew, and Germania became almost exclusively a charter airline. Plans were made for Germania to be associated with Air Berlin under a management contract. However, the contract was not signed. At the beginning of March 2008, Germania's joint owners could not reach agreement on the takeover by Air Berlin, so Germania remained an independent airline.

Yellow Air Taxi (a marketing name of Friendship Airways) was an air taxi airline based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It operated on-demand passenger services in the Southeast, Florida, the Caribbean and, the Bahamas. YAT grew from a small operation out of Pompano Beach to a fleet of four Cessna 402Cs, all painted in yellow with a white/black checkerboard tail. The carrier had some issues with the US DOT, bordering on offering scheduled service as a charter airline.
The only part of the company that survived was RAF-Avia, a charter airline set up using the four airplanes owned by the plant. The manufacturing site, complete with machinery, is owned by JSC Balitva. They considered selling it to a western auto maker, but this proved unrealistic. As of 2002, the assembly shop was still in order and all the design documents existed, so production could be started again if there should be a need.
Falcon Air Express was a charter airline which was based in Miami, Florida, United States. Falcon Air turned in its certificate to the FAA on June 5, 2015, following the loss of a contract with the US Department of Justice and mounting debt. Falcon Air Express also provided scheduled service from Miami to Curaçao under the banner Dutch Antilles Express, which also ceased service abruptly. Their remaining aircraft are currently at the Lakeland Linder International Airport.
Lancaster Airport is a public use airport four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) north of the central business district of Lancaster, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is owned by the Lancaster Airport Authority. It is served by one commercial airline (subsidized by the Essential Air Service program) and one charter airline. As per the Federal Aviation Administration, this airport had 1,673 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 4,333 in 2009, and 6,410 in 2010.
Flyjet Boeing 757-200, Manchester, 2005 Flyjet was a charter airline based at London Luton Airport, United Kingdom. It was a subsidiary of Silverjet, which is licensed for worldwide charter operations. It operated from Manchester Airport and Newcastle Airport to Mediterranean holiday destinations, as well as to the Canary Islands,. The company held a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence, and was permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats.
It carried 108 passengers, mostly German holiday-makers returning home at the end of a holiday on the Dalmatian coast, and a crew of 5. At the controls sat captain Jože Krumpak (born 1925), an experienced pilot with 10,157 flying hours, and first officer Dušan Ivanuš. Inex-Adria was a charter airline based in Slovenia, the northernmost of the constituent republics making up the federation of Yugoslavia. Both flights proceeded uneventfully until they approached the Zagreb VOR.
Trans Polar A/S was a Norwegian charter airline which operated between June 1970 and May 1971. The airline operated a fleet of three Boeing 720s and had a close cooperation with Aer Lingus for maintenance. Trans Polar was established by Thor Tjøntveit, although he never held any management positions. The airline was headquartered in Oslo, although most of the flights operated out of Copenhagen, Denmark, which was the base of Spies Rejser, Trans Polar's largest customer.
The airline was established as a company in 1998 and gained its Air Operators Certificate in 2000 commencing operations in October of that year. It launched services from Amman as the first privately owned charter airline in Jordan. Jordan Aviation operates a varied route network with a worldwide AOC. UN Peacekeepers are carried extensively on the various aircraft in the Fleet and the company also is involved in "wet-leasing" aircraft to air carriers who need extra capacity.
Seychelles International Safari Air Limited (SISA), operating as Seychelles International Airways (SIA) was a charter airline based on Mahé in Seychelles. The airline commenced operations on non-scheduled routes from the Seychelles to Basel (Switzerland) and Cologne/Bonn (Germany) on behalf of tour operator African Safari Club with one Douglas DC-8-53 (S7-SIA) on 2 November 1982. This aircraft was replaced by a DC-8-63 (S7-SIS) in December 1983. SISA ceased operations in July 1986.
Olley Air Services eventually was part of a group of airlines that included Blackpool & West Coast Air Services, Channel Air Ferries and Isle of Man Air Services. After the Second World War the airline resumed services from Croydon as both a charter airline and a scheduled service before being sold to Morton Air Services in 1953. Olley died in Wimbledon on 18 March 1958. His obituary reported that not one of his 40,000 passengers suffered a casualty.
As a new charter airline, Excel, concentrated on flights from Gatwick and Manchester to holiday destinations including Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Spain, the Canaries, St Lucia and Egypt. In March 2006, Excel Airways signed an agreement with GE Commercial Aviation Services for the lease of two Next-Generation Boeing 737-900ER (Extended Range) aircraft. They were the first examples of the latest variant of the Boeing 737 aircraft to operate in the UK when delivered in May 2008.
Domestically, Braathens SAFE received strong competition from Sterling Airways, but on the other hand this allowed Braathens SAFE to fly charter flights from Sweden. In 1968, the large Swedish–Danish charter airline Internord went bankrupt, giving Braathens SAFE increased charter traffic. The company also started purchasing a larger share of Altas Resor, until it took over all the whole company in 1978. In Sweden, Braathens SAFE used its partners to sell charter flights to Norway, and then continue their flights using scheduled flights.

The group later shifted the focus of Air Carnival to short-haul routes within South India. Coimbatore was selected as the base for its aircraft in order to offer optimum flight timings to the city's business community. Manish Kumar Singh was CEO; and S. I. Nathan, who is also the director of CMC Group, was the founder and chairman.
Snowbird's background is in the bankruptcy of Air Finland in 2012. Several senior employees of Air Finland, including Snowbird CEO Marja Aalto, went on to found Snowbird in 2013 in order to cater for the Finnish charter airline market that was left unsupplied after the bankruptcy. Despite foreign charter companies operating in Finland, provincial airports were found to be costly destinations for tour operators relying on foreign airlines. Additionally, Lapland destinations were deemed to be poorly accessible to Central European tourists.
The Hamilton International Airport is an alternate, relief airport to Pearson, but not in the GTA. Situated in Hamilton, southwest of Toronto, it is also a terminus for low-cost carrier, charter airline, and courier traffic. Travellers from Toronto to the United States are increasingly using Buffalo- Niagara International Airport (BUF). Located outside of Buffalo, New York, the lower airfares offered to U.S. destinations make travelling from BUF a cost- effective alternative, despite the time needed to make the trip by motor vehicle.
The aircraft that operated flight 4203 was a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 which was manufactured in August 1994 with serial number 53185. It was equipped with two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-219 turbofan engines. The aircraft had initially been deployed to service at Reno Air in September 1994 where it was operated until August 1999, until its merger with American Airlines where it then served until March 2001. Subsequently, Turkish charter airline Freebird Airlines had purchased the aircraft and operated it until May 2005.

Great Lakes Air began in St. Ignace, Michigan and began air charter service from Mackinac County Airport serving various destinations throughout Michigan. Over its thirty-year career, Great Lakes has established a name as one of the largest air charter companies in Michigan with its main charter destination, Mackinac Island. In addition to passenger charter, cargo is also flown throughout Michigan.
Gregorio Luperón International Airport () , also known as Puerto Plata Airport, is located in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. It is the Dominican Republic's fourth busiest airport by passenger traffic and aircraft movements, after Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros airports. The airport is named after General Gregorio Luperón, a Dominican military and state leader. Capable of handling planes of all sizes, Puerto Plata Airport has benefited from being in an area with many beaches, which are popular among charter airline passengers.
The airline begun operation on August 22, 2002 as a charter airline. Royal Air Philippines entered in the scheduled commercial operation on December December 14, 2018 with its inaugural flight from Clark to Caticlan and return flight to Clark. Currently, its main hub is at Lal-lo Airport in Cagayan Valley. Prior to its regular flights, the then RACSI, negotiated with the Department of Tourism, an agency of the government to establish a regular Macau-to-Subic Bay charter run.
As the base was being shut down it was decided that, with the growing traffic at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, an alternative airport would be needed. The runway was expanded to accommodate airliners and the facility opened in 1994 as Williams Gateway Airport. Bids began for some airlines to begin flights almost immediately. In 2004 charter airline Ryan International Airlines began MD-82 flights to Bullhead City International Airport in Bullhead City, Arizona, next to Laughlin, Nevada and many resorts.
Coastal Aviation started out as a purely charter airline in 1987. As of May 2020, charter forms a significant percentage of its business. However it also maintains a scheduled service, operating mainly from Dar es Salaam Airport and Arusha Airport. After starting with a single aircraft operating between Dar es Salaam and Selous Game Reserve, Coastal Aviation has evolved into a flying safari airline in Eastern Africa, with a fleet of 24 aircraft and flights to 42 destinations spanning Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.
The biggest Serbian tourist agency Kon Tiki Travel, Belgrade, and Metropolitan Investment Group, Belgrade, in accordance with Macedonian statutory regulations have established the new air transport company. The airline leased its first aircraft from Aviogenex, however, this plane has been returned to its owner. Skywings International Airlines, Macedonia’s largest charter airline, was left without an operating license and decided to merge with its rival MAT, with the aim of reducing costs and optimizing operations. As a result, MAT operated 2 aircraft.
Aviesa S.A de C.V is a charter airline of Mexico. Its services are FBO, ACMI, handling, aircraft lease and sale, air taxi, VIP charters, aircraft management, air ambulance, cargo, aircraft repair and support for commercial and private aviation. Founded in 1986 by Grupo Hermanos Abed (GHA), the airline was grounded in 1994 after the company's demise. The airline was reborn the next year as an independent entity and in 2002 was acquired by Asclepiodoto Abed, the former director of GHA.

After many years of operating profitably, Monarch Group, the parent company of Monarch Airlines and Cosmos Holidays, reported a large pre-tax loss of £32.3m in the financial year ending in 2009. This loss necessitated a £45m cash injection from the Mantegazzas who had co-owned the group since its inception. Monarch Airlines also changed its focus from being primarily a charter airline to becoming a predominantly "scheduled leisure airline." Monarch targeted 80% of its business to being "scheduled" (compared with only 20% in 2005).

Braathens Boeing 737-300 in hybrid Transwede livery—this was the only -300 operated by Braathens Braathens SAFE, the largest domestic carrier in Norway, entered negotiations in 1996 to purchase Transwede from its owners, Transpool. The purchase of Transwede was confirmed on 25 June; Braathens SAFE bought 50% of the company's scheduled division, Transwede Airways, with an option to purchase the rest in 1997.
The Folkestone Trophy was won by John Grierson flying a Supermarine Walrus (G-AHFN). The Lympne High Speed Handicap was won by W Humble flying a Hawker Fury I. Charter airline Air Kruise (Kent) Ltd was established at Lympne by Wing Commander Hugh Kennard and in September it was reported that the company had received the first civilian Miles Messenger aircraft. Air Kruise also operated Dragon Rapides. On 1 December 1946, Group Captain A. Bandit departed Lympne in a Miles Gemini bound for Wondai, Australia.

Following the purchase of a first aircraft, a Britten Norman Islander, series BN-2A-8 on June 8, 2003 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the company operates as an "on-demand" charter airline serving the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The airline's initial main route was a daily service between Punta Cana and Samana (Arroyo Barril Airport). On November 27, 2009, Air Inter Island received its AOC from the Instituto Dominicano de Aviacion Civil-IDAC.
During 1990, Orien Dickerson, then Vice-President of the company, was penalised by the United States Department of Transportation because he withdrew funds from escrow accounts for charter flights that still had to be carried out. In the charter airline business, it is common practice that prepayments from customers (e.g. travel agencies) to airlines are put on an escrow account until the flight is operated. This reduces the risk for the travel agency that the flight cannot be carried out due to insufficient funds.
The Brazilian retired with an accident and the Austrian Finished fourth. At the Canadian Grand Prix, after a second season marred by retirements and poor pace, Lauda informed Brabham that he wished to retire immediately, as he had no more desire to "drive around in circles". Lauda, who in the meantime had founded Lauda Air, a charter airline, returned to Austria to run the company full-time. The BT48 was replaced by the Brabham BT49 with a Ford engine for the final two races of 1979.
Condor, legally incorporated as Condor Flugdienst GmbH, is a German charter airline based in Frankfurt. It operates scheduled flights to leisure destinations in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, South Asia and North America. Its main base is at Frankfurt Airport with further smaller bases at other German airports. The airline was originally established as Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH on 21 December 1955. Its initial fleet consisted of three 36-passenger Vickers VC.1 Viking aircraft, the airline's first tourist-orientated flight commenced on 29 March 1956.
Servicios Aéreos de los Andes, also known as Andes Air, is a Peruvian airline that operates both fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft.centre for aviation Founded as a charter airline in 2005, the company specializes in transporting personnel for the mining and oil and gas industries. In 2014 the airline began offering commercial service with flights between Lima and Jauja and Cusco. In 2012, two of the company's helicopters were destroyed in an attack by the Sendero Luminoso at the Camisea Gas Project in Peru.

The aircraft acquired by NASA was used on the Space Shuttle programme as a landing systems research aircraft.
OLT announced on 4 August 2011 it would undergo major restructuring after losing its shuttle flights contract with Airbus Industries. Effective October 2011 all Fokker and Saab aircraft operations would stop and 100 of its 120 employees were to leave the company. Only the 'island-hopping' services from Emden to Heligoland and Borkum with small aircraft were to remain. In August 2011, OLT was bought by a Polish shadow banking Ponzi scheme company Amber Gold, which also bought Polish regional carrier Jet Air and the Polish charter airline Yes Airways.
To accurately reflect the destination for travelers and pilots, the Glynco Jetport was renamed Brunswick Golden Isles Airport in 2003. The new passenger terminal, completed in 2005 on the site of the former Navy air traffic control tower and base operations building, reflects the local tradition of hospitality for passengers of scheduled carrier service. Subsequent improvements have encouraged the expansion of general aviation, charter airline and scheduled airline traffic as well. The previous Navy control tower has not been replaced by the FAA and the airport currently has no active control tower.

In 1963 Alisarda was established to provide a fast and reliable air service connecting Olbia, gateway from the newly-created resort of the Costa Smeralda, to the major Italian and European destinations. In 2 May 1991, Alisarda rebranded the airline to be known as Meridiana. The airline later rebranded as Meridiana Fly after the acquisition and merger of defunct Italian airline eurofly, later returning to its original name Meridiana after the acquisition of the former charter airline Air Italy (which operated from 2005 to 2018, since 2013 operated under the Meridiana brand).
By the mid-1960s, tourism was a major hard currency earner for Bulgaria and TABSO faced home-grown competition. Executives of the Teksim trading company had decided to start their own aviation business which included crop-spraying and inclusive-tour charter airline operations under the name of Булер (Bulair). Despite trying to buy Sud Aviation Caravelle jet airliners, Bulair ended up buying more Il-18s turboprops under heavy Soviet and Bulgarian political pressure. These were operated to several Western European countries to bring holiday makers to Bulgarian resorts.
Rovos Air was a charter airline based in Randpark Ridge, South Africa. Rovos Air DC-3 Delaney named after girl born on board Rovos Air was established in 2002 by Rohan Vos, the owner of Rovos Rail, the operator of the prestigious Pride of Africa. The company operated tourist traffic between Pretoria and Victoria Falls offering passengers a nostalgic flight in classic aircraft that were fully refurbished and fitted with luxury seats to match the saloon wagon in their train. In 2009, Rovos Air was sold to TIM Holdings (PTY) LTD.

The Phantom Eagle was teenager Mickey Malone, who, though forbidden by superior officer Sergeant Flog at his military airbase in Great Britain, was determined to fight the World War II Axis powers. Donning an aviator-styled costume and building his own airplane, he takes the name Phantom Eagle and becomes a secret ace. He later forms the Phoenix Squadron, a group of fellow teen pilots. During the post-war period, Malone formed a charter airline and searched for the Golden Chalice, a lost artifact upon which is inscribed the "Formula for Peace".
Ad Astra Aero closed its first year with a huge loss of 426,365 Swiss francs, and a 410,757-Swiss- franc loss in the second fiscal year. The co-CEO of Ad Astra, Henry Pillichody, made on July 18, 1921, with five passengers the first Alpine passenger flight with the Junkers F.13 airplane in the Bernese Alps. In the first two years of operational service, aerial photography and charter airline needs were the main focus of operations: in June 1922 the first scheduled flight route Geneva-Zürich-Nuremberg-Fuerth was established.

In 1995, a Cuban-American, Mayra del Valle mortgaged her home to pursue the American dream of owning a business when her employer, Inflight Duty Free Shops, of 15 years was sold to Duty Free International. DFW opened its doors having one airline contract with a Canadian charter airline, Royal Aviation. Having a small operation and limited resources, she set off to personally train flight attendants on the technique of selling inflight travel retail in seven locations throughout Canada. In 1999, her daughter, Leylani Cardoso joined the company.

A government contract flight is a type of charter airline operation contracted with a government agency. In the United States, the massive mobility requirements during World War II proved that military transport could not meet all the logistical needs that might arise. As a result, the Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) was developed to use airline capacity to provide maximum airlift support in wartime situations. As a benefit, airlines that commit planes to CRAF are able to receive peacetime government contracts in an amount proportional to the airline's potential wartime mobilization value.
By the mid-1980s, competition in the charter airline market in Europe was intense, and in conjunction with spiralling fuel prices, the fortunes of the airline took a turn. Having an outdated fleet, the company was forced to lease in 737s from SABENA, and two Boeing 747s and a DC-10 from Malaysian Airline System. In 1987, plagued by financial troubles and labour strikes, Spantax was sold to the Aviation Finance Group, based in Luxembourg. The new owners had committed capital of 3 billion pesetas, and an investment of 4 billion pesetas.
First Choice Airways Limited was a British charter airline of European tour operator TUI Travel PLC, based in Crawley, England until its merger with Thomsonfly to form Thomson Airways (now TUI Airways) in 2008. It flew to more than 60 destinations worldwide from 14 UK and Irish airports. 70% of the airline's services were operated for its parent company, rising to 85% in the summer season, with the remainder on behalf of some 120 other tour operators. It also operated scheduled year-round leisure routes to Cyprus and the resorts of Spain and Portugal.
The division was based in Miami, Florida, and shared its offices with DAS Air Cargo's main business partner, passenger charter airline First Choice Airways-another airline which later went bankrupt. The airline was wholly owned by Joseph Roy (Chairman and Chief Executive) and Daisy Roy (Managing Director) and had 228 employees (at March 2007). DAS Air Cargo also had an EASA 145 approved maintenance facility at Kent International Airport in the UK. The facility was used for maintenance on their own aircraft as well as those of World Airways, Gemini Air Cargo and Avient Aviation.
These plans however were never materialized. On March 13, 2013, the airline announced that its name would change to POP Brasil and that as of April 16, 2013 it would start operating as a regular charter airline, pending on the necessary government authorizations. However, on September 23, 2013, the Whitejets single aircraft, an Airbus A320-214 registration PR-WTB, was returned to its owner, White Airways, making unsure the future for the airline. Furthermore, the project to operate scheduled flights and change its name to POP Linhas Aéreas was also abandoned.
Simon Ove Christian Ogilvie Spies (1 September 1921 - 16 April 1984) was a famous Danish tycoon, best known for founding the charter airline Spies Rejser, and its airway company Conair of Scandinavia. Spies Rejser is today owned by Petter Stordalen. Spies Rejser was opened in 1956 and would soon become a huge success along with the competitor Tjæreborg. In the beginning they arranged cheap bus/boattrips to Majorca, but later (in the early 1960s) Spies bought the bankrupt Danish charter operator Flying Enterprise and formed his own airline, Conair of Scandinavia.

Bond foils an assassination attempt on Goldfinger by Jill Masterton's sister, Tilly, to avenge Jill's death at Goldfinger's hands: he had painted her body with gold paint, which killed her. Bond and Tilly attempt to escape when the alarm is raised, but are captured.
The incident occurred above the city of Mbuji-Mayi on the night of 8 May 2003. The aircraft was an Ilyushin Il-76 registered as UR-UCB and was operated by Ukrainian Cargo Airways, a Ukrainian state-owned charter airline company based in Kiev. The two-hour flight was chartered by the military to transport soldiers and their families to their home in Lubumbashi, which was located on the south of the country in Haut-Katanga Province. Lubumbashi is a home to a large military base in Congo.

Tower Air was a certificated FAR 121 U.S. charter airline that also operated scheduled passenger service from 1983 until 2000 when the company declared bankruptcy and was liquidated. Scheduled flights were initially offered over a New York – Brussels – Tel Aviv route in addition to charter flights to Athens, Frankfurt, Rome, and Zurich. Short-lived New York – Los Angeles flights were introduced with the addition of an ex-Avianca Boeing 747-100 in 1984. The airline was headquartered in Building 178 and later in Hangar 17 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, Queens, New York City.

The airline had 118 aircraft of 15 types, consisting of three or more models each from Douglas, Fokker and Boeing, as well as the de Havilland Heron and British Aerospace 146. The Boeing 737-200, with 20, was the most bought type. Braathens operated five variants of the 737, totaling 64 aircraft.
Skycraft Air Transport was created as a charter airline targeting the express air freight needs of the North American automotive industry. It was based in Oshawa, Ontario, where its biggest customer, General Motors Canada, operated two large car assembly plants. Its principal competitive advantages were its diverse fleet, with different aircraft that could economically carry different sized loads, and its ability to dispatch aircraft to virtually any North American destination within one hour of a customer request. By the late 1980s the airline was operating a flying school and had diversified into the air ambulance, passenger charter and scheduled service markets.
Excalibur was the first UK charter airline to operate the A320 with its (at the time) new fly-by-wire control system. Most of the holiday charter flights were to Egypt, although that was not the only destination since they also serviced the holiday resorts in the Mediterranean and North Africa. In 1994 Excaliber offered direct services from Gatwick into Eilat (ETH) in Southern Israel. ETH is conveniently right in the town centre and at the time almost all other operators were flying into Ovda (VDA), which is about an hour by coach to the North of the town.
Range Regional Airport is a public use airport located four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) southeast of the central business district of Hibbing, in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. It was formerly known as Chisholm- Hibbing Airport or Chisholm-Hibbing Municipal Airport. The airport is mostly used for general aviation but is also served by one commercial and one charter airline. Scheduled passenger service is subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 8,896 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 8,926 enplanements in 2009, and 11,227 in 2010.
Within ten days, the operation was reportedly breaking-even; by a month later, the firm's initial fleet was operating at its maximum planned utilisation rate. On 5 October of that same year, a rival charter airline Skyways, one of Britain's foremost independent airlines during the 1950s and early 1960s, was taken over by Euravia and integrated into its operations.Williams 1963, p. 189. The Skyways takeover did not include Skyways Coach-Air, a Skyways associate, established in the early 1950s by Eric Rylands to operate low-fare coach-air services between London and several European capital cities.
Among the reasons for Dan-Air's decline was the lack of vertical integration with a UK tour operator. Dan-Air was the last major independent provider of charter airline seats to numerous large, medium-sized and small tour companies in the UK and overseas, at a time when most UK tour firms had set up their own airlines. These then competed with Dan-Air for the bulk of those operators' business, leading to a decline in rates. This resulted in a decline in Dan-Air's importance as a business partner for these tour operators, reducing its status from main to marginal provider.
The Pestana Group owns the Portuguese airline euroAtlantic Airways, and a stake in STP Airways, which is the national airline of São Tomé and Príncipe. Besides the 91 hotels, the Pestana Group has six timesharing properties, three golf courses, two real estate/touristic properties, a gambling concession for a Casino, a participation in a charter airline, a travel agency and three Tour Operators. In 2015, Pestana Group partnered with Cristiano Ronaldo to open a hotel chain under the CR7 brand. The first hotel was opened in 2016 in Funchal, above Museu CR7, later that year another hotel was opened in Lisbon.
Azman Air was established in 2010, and began operations in 2014 with its first commercial flight to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, on 15 May 2014 from Kano. The airline began operations in Nigeria with 2 Boeing 737-500 aircraft for its domestic services. In October 2017, Azman Air leased a used Airbus A330 from an Egyptian charter airline (the now defunct Air Leisure) which would be used to fly to international routes to both the Middle East and Asia. The airline has since discontinued leasing the A330, and, as of 8 February 2020, is only flying domestic routes within Nigeria.
Propair Flight 420 (PRO420) was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Dorval, Quebec to Peterborough, Ontario. The flight was carried out by Propair, a charter airline based in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, using a Fairchild Metroliner SA226. On 18 June 1998, the aircraft suffered an in-flight fire shortly after take-off from Dorval and the crew elected to conduct an emergency landing at Montréal–Mirabel International Airport. The intense heat of the fire caused a structural failure in the left wing during the landing and the aircraft crashed, killing all 11 passengers and crew on board.
In December 1994, two entrepreneurs from the Turks and Caicos Islands, Harold Charles (a native of Haiti) and John Shearer, joined forces putting together a hangar facility and 2 small piston-engine aircraft to form a small charter airline. The first revenue flight took place in January 1995. In 1996 scheduled services began using a mixed fleet of a total of eight Cessna 400 and Piper PA-23 aircraft, after which larger Short 360 aircraft were added. Over the following years, SkyKing bought some Beechcraft 1900, which eventually became the only aircraft type in the fleet.
SAT was founded in 1947 in Miami as a charter airline flying cargo to The Bahamas. By the time it was acquired by the CIA in 1960 for $300,000 (from the company's founder, F. C. Doole Jr., the Pacific Corporation. SAT's Pacific Division supported the US war effort in Southeast Asia, and operated 23 Lockheed Hercules aircraft in its fleet.
In 1988 British Caledonian was bought by and merged into British Airways. Cal Air International was of no interest to British Airways. The Rank Organisation decided to buy the other 50% share of the company making it the wholly owned subsidiary. This created a problem as the name 'Cal Air International' along with the lion rampant logo in red and its Female Flight Attendants wearing tartan uniforms, was too close in image and style to the new start up British Airways charter airline Caledonian Airways which was now the new face and product of what was known for many years as British Airtours.
Skytrans was founded by David and Sue Barnard in October 1990 as a charter airline, and began scheduled flights in 1993. In November 2000, Skytrans merged with AirSwift Aviation, another small regional airline based in Cairns. In June 2001, Skytrans took over services to Cooktown and Karumba from MacAir Airlines. In January 2005, the airline began to operate in competition with QantasLink on the Cairns to Townsville route, operating from its own terminals in both cities. In December 2006, the airline was acquired from its founders by Australian Aviation Holdings, owner of Queensland Regional Airlines (QRA) and Inland Pacific Air.
Palau Pacific Airways (PPA) was a charter airline from Palau. The airline launched scheduled charter flights between Hong Kong and its base Koror on 7 November 2014. The start-up intended to operate five times weekly charter services to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport. The carrier wet-leased a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on an annual contract from Slovakian Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) operator: Air Explore. The airline was forced to stop its operations due to a lack of Chinese tourists after China had declared Palau an “illegal tour destination”, because Palau continues to maintain links with Taiwan.
The scheduled charter airline was founded in 1995. TransMeridian originally flew on behalf of the nation’s largest tour operators from the upper Midwest and Northeast to points in the Caribbean and Mexico, but later expanded to operate its own branded scheduled charter service with an additional focus on Florida destinations. At its peak, it had 7 Boeing 727s, 11 Airbus A320, 7 Boeing 757 and 7 MD-80 aircraft in service. Over its ten-year history, TransMeridian safely carried well over one million passengers to over 150 destinations primarily within the United States, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean.
JMC Airlines Limited (also known as JMC Air, JMC Airlines or simply JMC and stylised as jmc) was a UK charter airline formed by the merger of Caledonian Airways and Flying Colours Airlines, following the purchase of Thomas Cook & Son by the Carlson Leisure Group. JMC Air was named after the initials of the son of Thomas Cook, John Mason Cook. The airline was rebranded and remodeled in March 2003 to Thomas Cook Airlines UK. The airline operated flights from its 6 operating bases in the UK, offering seat-only bookings and bookings via Thomas Cook Tour Operations (Thomas Cook Package Holidays).
Moskovia Airlines filed for bankruptcy in February 2014 but planned to continue its operations. Delays with flights returning passengers from the Montenegrin resort of Tivat and also with services from Astrakhan to Turkey were revealed in mid-; at this time, it was informed the airline was unable to pay for the fuel. An inspection that came after these delays resulted in the Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency Rosaviatsia suspending the commercialisation of tickets and the airline shrinking its operations to serve just the Moscow–Tivat route. That month, it was reported that the company would apparently continue its operations as a charter airline.
The company had enough business critical mass to set up a computer centre near Princeton, New Jersey. Court Line Aviation was a prominent British holiday charter airline during the early 1970s based at Luton Airport in Bedfordshire. It also provided bus services in Luton and surrounding areas. It helped pioneer the concept of "cheap and cheerful" package tours to Spain and other destinations in the "Med" in conjunction with Clarksons Holidays, thus taking part in the establishment of a whole new way of holidaymaking for the British public. The airline, its parent company and its subsidiary tour operators, Clarksons Travel Group and Horizon Travel, ceased trading on 15 August 1974, with at least £7 million owing to 100,000 holidaymakers.

The airlines was founded as business-charter airline. It also started scheduled operations effective from 8 September 2011 with routes from its home base at Münster- Osnabrück (FMO) to Zürich, Poznan (Poland) and Wroclaw (Poland). All flights were operated by a Saab 340A of the Polish airline SkyTaxi and other airline's aircraft up to the required demand. Due to operational reasons, the airline suspended all flights and applied for insolvency, but stated that if the necessary funding could be found they would continue routes from Münster Osnabrück Airport to Zurich, Poland and also as previously planned route to London Southend.
The aircraft was a leased Boeing 737-201 Adv. aircraft, operated by Mexican charter airline Global Air (Aerolíneas Damojh, S.A. de C.V.), on a scheduled domestic flight from Havana to Holguín on behalf of Cubana de Aviación. The aircraft's inaugural flight was in July 1979, and after being owned by a number of different airlines, it was acquired in July 2011 by Global Air, who began to operate the plane for Cubana de Aviación in 2018. A statement by Global Air said that its aircraft had passed a November 2017 Mexican government inspection and that it was up-to-date with its permits to operate and lease aircraft.

Because of the usage of the Lufthansa branding, the company was sued by West German Lufthansa. As a side effect, the East German airline was prevented from being admitted into the International Air Transport Association (it could not become a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization either, because at that time neither East nor West Germany had been accepted into the United Nations). As a consequence, Deutsche Lufthansa was liquidated on 1 September 1963. Its staff, fleet and route network were transferred to Interflug, which had been founded as a state-owned charter airline in 1958 and served as East German flag carrier thenceforth.

Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, or simply Villamor Air Base , is the headquarters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and shares runways with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). It was formerly known as Nichols Field or Nichols Air Base and possibly as Nichols Freeport Zone. Chiefly used as a PAF transport/helicopter airbase, it is also the military installation that the Philippine president uses when departing for foreign or domestic trips, though foreign departures are mostly done at the Philippine Airlines- operated NAIA Terminal 2 (as PAL is the official charter airline for the Philippine president). Also, foreign dignitaries visiting Manila would usually arrive at the air base.
BIA's Gatwick slots were required to enable fellow Gatwick- based Air Europe, ILG's rapidly expanding airline subsidiary, to build a major scheduled presence at that airport. It was created as an alternative to the British government-controlled corporation airlines and was described as the "Second Force" in the 1969 Edwards report. It was formed by the UK's second-largest, independent charter airline Caledonian Airways taking over British United Airways (BUA), then the largest British independent airline and the United Kingdom's leading independent scheduled carrier. It specialized in offering private jets for short lease from key airports in Spain and with the years it expanded its operations to include six hubs spread across the country. Las Vegas service ended in March 2014. Airbus A319s & A320s fly the bulk of Allegiant Air routes out of Plattsburgh. On March 15, 2008, the airport began hosting regular service by Direct Air, offering three direct flights weekly to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The charter airline already had a successful service to Myrtle Beach from Niagara Falls, which has drawn many passengers from Ontario just as Plattsburgh is now doing from Quebec. On April 29, 2011, the airline announced it would offer two non-stop flights per week, departing and returning on Wednesdays and Saturdays, to Lakeland Linder International Airport beginning November 10, 2011 using Boeing 737-400 aircraft.

Its main function was to carry US military personnel to and from Europe from the east coast of the USA. ONA also had a dedicated Douglas DC-7F for freight operations. For a brief period from 1964 to 1965, ONA went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize.
Twin Cities Air Service was an American fixed-base operator and charter airline based at Auburn, Maine and operated from Auburn/Lewiston Municipal Airport and the Portland International Jetport. The airline was a certified Part 135 operator, provided on demand and commuter service, while the FBO provided standard aircraft services and maintenance, specializing in overhauls of the Cessna 400 series aircraft. Beginning in March 2010, Twin Cities Air Service began a scheduled commuter route between Portland, Maine, and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. At the time of the initiation of this route, Twin Cities was the only scheduled carrier into the Yarmouth Airport, and was the only scheduled international service into the Portland International Jetport.
Following the sale of Morris Travel, Gelwix was hired as CEO of WinAir Airlines, a charter airline operating nine 737 aircraft. In 2000, Gelwix and former business partner, Mark Faldmo, formed Columbus Travel, headquartered in Bountiful, Utah. Columbus Travel has become one of the largest and most successful travel agencies in Utah and won the "Best of State" award three times as the "best travel agency in the state of Utah" and was named by Mark Travel Corporation (one of the largest tour operators in the world) as one of the "Top 10 Travel Agencies" in the country. Columbus has been awarded numerous other honors, distinctions, and citations in the travel industry.
VFR traffic, meaning aircraft navigating solely by visual reference, could even fly into some major airports without using two-way radio, using special air corridors and getting landing, take- off, and taxi instructions by coloured light signals using an "Aldis" lamp from the control tower. The Dutch charter airline Martinair, now part of the air-cargo arm of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, was founded in the 1950s by Martin Schroeder, a former Dutch Air force pilot, as a company using tethered balloons and banners. The towing aircraft used were DH 82a Tiger Moth, written off as primary trainers, and the occasional Auster. The company later set up an air charter operation at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport.

Songbird Airways established as Sky King is a charter airline based in Miami, Florida. Sky King was founded in July 1990 to fly for the NBA's Sacramento Kings. Sky King operated flights from Florida to Cuba on behalf of Customer Service Providers (CSPs). Sky King also conducted flights of deportees to undisclosed destinations on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In the past, the airline provided charter service to sports teams and businesses using Boeing 737 aircraft sporting various seat configurations. The airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 9, 2010, after it was unable to meet the payment demands of one of its largest creditors, fuel supplier Mercury Air Group.

Of particular note was during the late 1960s, with Gordon Brunton leading the diversification into the package tour business for Thomson, this was later supported by his friend from the LSE Vladimir Raitz, founder of Horizon Holiday Group. Thomson Holidays now TUI AG grew with the acquisition of Sky Tours, Rivera Holidays and a then small air carrier Britannia Airways. Britannia became a major charter airline and Thomson leased a fleet of Boeing 737-200 aircraft, becoming the first European carrier to buy the Boeing product. Brunton believed Thomson had certain advantages in entering the travel market, at a time when tastes were changing for British holidaymakers with shifting aspirations for overseas holidays.
Starting out as a Customer Service Trainer for the Thompson /Britannia Group in Mallorca, Spain, he graduated to Destination Manager in Spain, Moscow, Cyprus and Greece. In 1975 he married and upped stakes to Toronto, Canada to work for WardAir, a Canadian Charter Airline, before being recruited by someone he'd first met in Spain, Sir Freddie Laker, to serve as the General Manager for Laker Airways in Toronto. In 1979 Tait moved with the company to Miami, Florida as Vice President, Marketing for the high-profile UK carrier’s “Skytrain” low cost, scheduled transatlantic services. He stayed with Laker Airways until the company was illegally driven out of business and forced to declare bankruptcy in early 1982.
In the 1960s, Gibson formed Bechuanaland National Airways and Botswana National Airways. Beginning with a Douglas DC-3, he expanded the airlines until they operated two DC-3s, two Douglas DC-4s, and a presidential aircraft for Batswana President Seretse Khama. During the Biafran War, Gibson was operating from Gabon, and with his son Michael as co-pilot, he flew in supplies and helped to evacuate children. He later formed a charter airline Jagair, based at Kariba Dam, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and after ceasing operations due to political difficulties, he was employed by his friend and fellow wartime Royal Air Force pilot, Ian Smith, the Prime Minister of Rhodesia, as an aviation operations officer.
However, in November 2019, reports revealed that the partnership between Air Austral and Air Madagascar was at risk of dissolution after Air Austral did not contribute its second payment of €25 million for its equity share in the airline. In August 2018, Air Austral began wet leasing an Airbus A380 from charter airline Hi Fly after it grounded one of its Boeing 787s due to inspections of the plane's Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. In October 2019, Air Austral announced it was developing its plans to renew its fleet. That month, the airline signed a purchase agreement for three Airbus A220-300 aircraft that would replace its two Boeing 737-800 and ATR 72-500 jets.

As a scheduled airline, Hellas Jet initially operated two daily flights from Athens to Paris and Brussels,and a daily flight to London/Heathrow and Zurich. Later the Zurich flights were suspended due to low passenger numbers and were replaced by daily flights to London/Gatwick, while there was a slight reduction in the Paris and Brussels frequencies to enable two weekly flights from Athens to Manchester to operate. The weekend flights to Gatwick were transferred to Heathrow in 2005, although the mid-week flights were later suspended for most of the year, except for the busy Christmas and New Year period. As a charter airline, Hellas Jet operated charter flights to/from Heraklion and Rhodes, to St Petersburg, Moscow, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Paris etc.

In 2009, Nikolai Grushevski, a man from Corpus Christi, Texas, filed a lawsuit because Hooters would not hire him as a waiter. Grushevski and Hooters reached a confidential settlement on April 13. In September 2009, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against a North Carolina charter airline (formerly Hooters Air, owned by Hooters of America) on behalf of Chau Nguyen, an Asian flight attendant fired three years prior after complaining only white workers were being promoted. In May 2010, a lawsuit was filed against Hooters in Michigan after an employee was given a job performance review and was told that her shirt and short size could use some improvement by two women who held positions at the headquarters in Atlanta.
Frontier Airlines was the brainchild of Frederick W. "Rick" Brown, a United Airlines Pilot, his wife Janice Brown, and Bob Schulman, the latter two having worked at the original Frontier Airlines (1950–1986). In 1993, Continental Airlines was scaling back flights from Denver's Stapleton International Airport, and the three proposed a charter airline named AeroDenver Travel Services to fill demand on international routes, potentially in partnership with Condor Airlines. To run the company they brought in M.C. "Hank" Lund (ex-CEO of the original Frontier Airlines) as CEO and Sam Addoms as executive vice-president and treasurer (later CEO). As Continental's Denver drawback expanded in scope in late 1993, the proposed airline pivoted to fill regional routes, and adopted the Frontier Airlines name.

Eastern SkyJets was a charter airline with full infrastructure based at Dubai International Airport and Ras Al Khaima airport. ESJ had been operating flights in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Subcontinent region under its own UAE Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and CAR145 Approved Maintenance Organization. ESJ was a specialist in hostile areas with extensive experience in the Afghanistan territory and operated daily scheduled charter flights for AeroTech Aviation connecting Dubai with the military airfields of Kandahar, Bagram and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. Eastern SkyJets was a key regional air transport provider with clientele ranging from a number of multinational blue chip companies to government organizations such as the US Government, the United Nations and various military organizations.
From 1962 to 1966, Flynn played the irascible Captain Wallace "Wally" Burton Binghamton (also known as "Old Leadbottom") on ABC's McHale's Navy, in which he became known for his exasperated catch phrases "What is it, What, WHAT, WHAT!?", "What in the name of: the Blue Pacific/Halsey/Nimitz", and "I could just scream!" He also starred in two 1964 theatrical films spun off from the series, McHale's Navy and McHale's Navy Joins the Air Force. In the spring of 1970, Flynn co-starred with Tim Conway — with whom he had worked in McHale's Navy and the two McHale's Navy films — in the situation comedy The Tim Conway Show as the inept operators of the single-plane charter airline Triple A Airlines.

At first the airline used Douglas DC-4s, and later also Douglas DC-3s. In 1948, the airline moved to Oslo Airport, Fornebu and started regular scheduled flights to the Far East. In 1952, the airline started cooperation with the Icelandic airline Loftleidir, where until 1960 the two airlines in cooperation flew flights to Reykjavík. Domestic services started in 1951, using de Havilland Herons on a route from Oslo to Stavanger via Tønsberg.
After five years in the temporary terminal, Air Ontario spent $200,000 to build a new terminal in 1994, renovating an existing building and moving out of trailers. In August 1994, Toronto City Council, the Harbour Commission and the Government of Canada approved the airport's renaming to Toronto City Centre Airport. Later that year, the Government of Canada announced it would start to phase out its subsidy of the airport in 1995 and would end its subsidy of the fire station at the airport starting in April 1995. Classic Airlines, a new charter airline, started operating at the airport, using an old 28-seater DC-3 for short and medium range flights, but it would shut down early in 1995, when its insurance premiums increased from $33,000 annually to over $100,000.
In 1995, City Express's Pappalardo returned to the island airport, as he launched the charter airline TCA Trans Capital Air using a Dash 7 airplane once used by City Express. The Province of Ontario followed the Government of Canada's lead and ended its airport subsidy, dropping the $1 million annual subsidy of the island ferry. In the 1995 provincial election, Ontario Progressive Conservative leader and premier-elect Mike Harris pledged to put jets on the island airport and expand its operations, while Liberal leader Lyn McLeod and NDP leader Bob Rae both supported letting Toronto decide. In May 1995, Toronto City Hall hosted a two- day forum on the future of the airport, chaired by former federal cabinet minister Barbara McDougall, organized by the Canadian Urban Institute and sponsored by the Harbour Commission.
Fortunair Canada was a short-lived Canadian charter airline which began operations in 1994 created by former Nationair OPS employees, M. Saydoux, ( Syrian born ) was the founder; using a Boeing 747-200 from former Pan Am Airlines aircraft (USA) for charter flights between Montreal and Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, Paris, Nice and other European destinations. Services commenced on 30 June 1994 and by 19 August 1994 the courts had grounded the airline on grounds of illicit financing from former Nationair (still in bankruptcy liquidation); the licence was never reinstated, it declared bankruptcy as well in August 1994, leaving passengers stranded in Mirabel and in France. Fortunair Canada was in financial trouble as the financing for this ops were not clear how it was financed and operations ended on 23 January 1995 legally.
On 16 August 1964, the airline was rebranded, becoming Britannia Airways; this name was adopted to coincide with re-equipping with ex-British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) Bristol Britannia turboprop airliners to replace their Constellations. The type would not be used for long however; during December 1970, the last remaining Britannia 102 was withdrawn from service, consequently, the airline became an all-jet operator at this point. During the late 1960s, Britannia became the first charter airline to offer assigned seating, as well as hot in-flight meals. During the mid-1960s, Britannia had attracted the interest of the newspaper business magnate Lord Thomson, who sought a good prospect with which to diversify his business stakes; Thompson also approved of the company's activities being beneficial to the general public.
Bonhomme was born into a family of aviators. His father was an airline pilot and his mother worked as a flight attendant. His brother is a commercial pilot. Bonhomme's flying career started in 1980 at White Waltham Airfield as a general dogsbody by cleaning hangars, polishing aircraft and refuelling aircraft. Bonhomme in the 2010 Red Bull Air Race At age 18 he gained his Private Pilot Licence taking first the FAA licence at Redbird Airfield near Dallas, Texas and subsequently became a flight instructor. In 1985 he became an air taxi pilot and in 1987 joined Air Cymru, a Welsh charter airline, flying the Boeing 737. He now flies as a captain of Boeing 747s for British Airways. His aerobatics career started in 1986, flying an Ultimate Pitts.
Cossey presented the plan forged with O'Regan and Snudden. Goodman agreed to support it as an equity holder. This was the point at which Air Europe was incorporated (however Snudden decided to join Monarch Airlines.) The fact that the charter airline industry—Dan-Air in particular—were shunned by some travel companies meant broad appeal was needed at the outset, especially in terms of on-board service, including the in- flight catering. Standards were set to rival the leading scheduled service airlines, with an aim of establishing a new benchmark for the industry and for charter airlines in particular; this would enable the new airline to fly longer seasons as travel companies were expected to cancel their contracts with rival airlines—an increase in aircraft utilisation that would translate into higher profits.
In 2013, Air Memphis, an Egyptian charter airline was acquired and began new operations under the name of Air Leisure, operating charter flights to destinations in North and Northeast Africa, the Middle East and Europe using an MD-83 transferred from Air Memphis. In December 2014, the airline acquired the first of three Airbus A340-200 aircraft, which had previously been operated by Egyptair. This led to the airline being the only operator of the A340-200 in the world until 2017 when the airline phased the aircraft out in favour of the younger, more fuel efficient Airbus A330-200. In February 2016, it was announced that the airline had signed a letter of intent with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft for the purchase of four Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft with an option for six more.
Prior to operating in Timor- Leste, Air Timor first commenced its corporate life as charter airline under the name Austasia Airlines, operating charters between Australia and Indonesia from 2001 until 2007. In 2007 it relocated to East Timor, and Austasia Airlines was registered there as well as in Singapore. Following approval from the Timorese Government, Austasia Airlines commenced its first scheduled charter flights from Singapore to Dili in August 2008, operating a twice weekly schedule on Tuesday and Saturday with an Airbus A319 aircraft wet- leased from SilkAir In 2010 Austasia Airlines lodged its application to become a national company and change its name to Air Timor S. A., which was approved by the East Timor government. In October 2014 the airline commenced operations from Bali, Indonesia direct to Dili, under another charter operation.
It wholly owned cargo subsidiary Flyant (officially Servicios Aéreos Integrales S.A.) and Dublin-based Irish charter airline Futura Gael. In 2008, a few months prior to its demise, in order to reduce the cost base structure, Futura relaunched Flyant as a new passenger carrier with a class-1 AOC, while continuing freighter operations as well under the Flyant name as well. Flyant (passenger carrier) took over some Futura operations, wet leasing a Boeing 737-300 and a 737-400 to Air Algerie, both aircraft and crew were based in Algiers. Futura also set up and operated a successful turn-key airline setting up and management consultancy and offered its services and on the ground aircraft maintenance services as well to several air carriers across continents, one example being Aerolínea Principal in Chile.

In June 1987 Air UK announced that it would start a new charter airline based at London Stansted Airport which would start operating in 1988 with two leased Boeing 737-200 aircraft. The company Air UK (Leisure) Limited was formed in 1987 with Air UK providing 30% of the £2.5 million capital, B&C; Holding (the parent company of Air UK) 30% with the rest from the travel group Viking International. The airline started operations in 1988 with two leased Boeing 737-200 aircraft and placed orders for four new Boeing 737-400s from a leasing company for delivery in October 1988.
As the company's flying programme from Berlin gradually expanded, additional aircraft joined the Berlin-based fleet. By 1971, the 25th anniversary of the airline's formation, five CV-990s were stationed at Tegel Airport year-round (along with most of the airline's employees). The airport faced severe political criticism in the 1980s and 1990s. A 1995 Chicago magazine exposé called it "A Monument to Lavish Spending of Taxpayers' Money, a Haven of GOP Patronage, and the Target of a Federal Probe." According to an article by John K. Wilson: :'Pate' Philip, the patron of DuPage airport, helped push forward a disastrously expensive enterprise which included land purchases making it four times the size of Midway Airport, a $10 million terminal, a $14 million golf course, and a charter airline run by the airport. The DuPage Airport budget grew from $1.6 million in 1984 to $46 million in 1993 at a time when airport use was declining. In 1992, DuPage Airport handled only 177,000 takeoffs and landings, while Aurora Municipal Airport took care of 134,000 takeoffs and landings at a cost of only $2 million.
All three major American airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Airlines fly directly between the U.S. and the UK, principally between London and New York, although all three fly to London Heathrow Airport from a number of hubs, as well as to other major UK airports such as Birmingham Airport, Manchester Airport, Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow Airport. Additionally, Delta codeshares with the UK's Virgin Atlantic which it owns a 49% stake in. Low-cost carriers JetBlue & Southwest fly between the eastern U.S. and the British overseas territories of Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and the Turks & Caicos Islands. The British flag carrier British Airways flies to over twenty destinations in the U.S. Also the main British charter airline, TUI Airways fly to the U.S. although principally to the holiday destinations of Florida and California.
On 30 December 2011, the Federal Office for Civil Aviation of Germany revoked the operating license of Blue Wings because of solvency fears, forcing the airline to shut down all operations. Blue Wings was saved for once on 23 April of the same year, when it was announced that Elite Aviation, a VIP charter airline from Abu Dhabi, had signed a charter agreement with Blue Wings. Subsequently, the license was reinstated on 5 May. On 5 August 2011, it was announced that Iraqi Airways, Iraq's national airline, had signed a contract to lease three Blue Wings Airbus A320-232, which were used on European routes.Iraqi Airways to lease 3 Airbus A320-232 for Europe flights On 31 January 2012, Blue Wings ceased all operations, filing bankruptcy due to the financial crisis which had led to a pull-out of investors.

Abdoulaye opposed the failed attempt by former President Mamadou Tandja to extend his term under a new constitution in 2009, and supported the 18 February 2010 coup to depose Tandja, saying "The government created the environment for the coup to take place".
Air Europe became the first British charter airline to use new equipment from the outset and provide food and service that were reviewed to be comparable to established scheduled carriers. Due to the package tour industry's seasonality, Air Europe needed to ensure that it had high capacity through the entire June–September peak season: the airline needed to have finance in place to pay up-front for the deposits to take over the delivery slots of three brand-new Boeing 737-200 Advanced aircraft that had originally been booked by another airline that been forced to cancel its order. Financing these aircraft, which were due to roll off Boeing's production line during May 1979, was its biggest challenge of that year. In the late 1970s major financiers were reluctant to provide start-up capital to newly constituted airlines (dubbed 'paper') unless part of or enjoyed the backing of well-financed organisations.
The charter airline business was highly seasonal, with most of the annual commercial activity taking place over a relatively short period of barely four months between the end of May and the beginning of September. As Air Europe was operating a fleet of brand-new aircraft that incurred high financing charges unlike the older, second-hand jets operated by Dan-Air and many other rival airlines, it could not afford to kerb its fleet utilisation over the winter months. Dan-Air, by contrast for example took half of its operational Comet fleet out of service at the end of the 1976 summer season and put the aircraft into storage at Dan-Air Engineering's main base at Lasham Airfield the following winter season and saw reduced use of other aircraft in the winter.Airliner World (The Last of Dan- Air's Comets – Additional Comets), Key Publishing, Stamford, UK, November 2010, pp.
Another important factor leading to this decision was to ensure the widest possible UK coverage for its package tour operations to enable Intasun to compete better with market leader Thomson. ILG wanted to be able to do this without incurring the additional expense of stationing aircraft and crews at regional UK airports to operate a small number of seasonal flights only or, alternatively, incurring the cost of operating empty legs with aircraft repositioned from its two main bases at Gatwick and Manchester. This resulted in an arrangement whereby Air Europa's aircraft were flying German and Scandinavian holidaymakers during daytime and Intasun's regional customers at night. The resulting higher aircraft utilisation and lower direct operating costs for Air Europa compared with Thomson sister company Britannia Airways, the UK's leading charter airline and Air Europe's greater competitor in the European charter market, in turn enabled Intasun to undercut Thomson's prices.
BIA "Mark Two" BAC One-Eleven 400 at Basle Airport, June 1985 Following several unsuccessful attempts to sell the loss- making charter operation Air UK had inherited at the time of its formation from the original BIA to another airline, Peter Villa, then the Air UK managing director (as well as the original BIA's [second] MD), decided in 1982 to reconstitute BIA as a charter airline. This involved Villa's purchase of BIA Ltd, a wholly owned B&C; subsidiary that had assumed the ownership of Air UK's non-scheduled division to facilitate its eventual disposal, with a loan from the owners. The "new BIA" was headquartered at Apollo House on the industrial estate in Crawley's Lowfield Heath area (close to Gatwick Airport). It commenced operations on 1 April 1982 with the four One-Eleven 400s the original BIA had acquired in 1979 to establish a charter operation.
This contrasted with good financial results achieved by the growing operation in Berlin, which had effectively subsidised the shrinking US operation for a number of years. The additional Berlin-based aircraft and personnel also enabled Modern Air to supplement its regular charter programme from Berlin with one-off luxury charters to far-flung, exotic destinations, such as Bangkok, Colombo, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Karachi and Mauritius. An Air Rhodesia Boeing 720 at Salisbury Airport in 1977 Air Rhodesia's profits increased between 1969–1970 and the airline continued to perform well despite the challenges brought about by sanctions and the deteriorating political environment within Rhodesia. Passenger services were introduced to Kariba; the Dakota services to Wankie were upgraded to use the Viscount; and additional revenue was earned by lending surplus aircrew to other airlines. However, Air Rhodesia's performance was affected when its competitors began to use new jet airliners, and it became obvious that jet aircraft were essential for international services. The airline covertly acquired its first jets, three Boeing 720-025 jetliners, which arrived under a shroud of secrecy on the evening of 14 April 1973 during the Easter holiday; they had initially been purchased new by the original Eastern Air Lines, a U.S. air carrier based in Miami, and had then been acquired by Calair, a German charter airline that folded in 1972.
The two DC-10s were purchased for cash. Nigeria Airways became Airbus' 40th customer in 1981, when it placed an order for four Airbus A310-200s. Four new Boeing 737-200s were ordered in early 1981 for including spare parts, and late that year an order for four more aircraft of the type was placed. In 1982, Boeing 747s were successively leased from the Danish charter airline Scanair and SAS; the aircraft were deployed on services to the United Kingdom, permitting the DC-10s to be used on new routes to Frankfurt, Paris, and Zurich. The airline took possession of four new Boeing 737-200s in early 1983 that would replace leased aircraft of the same type; they were acquired with a loan of million that was arranged with seven major banks. On 28 November 1983, a Fokker F28 (5N-ANF) crashed while on approach to Enugu, claiming 23 lives from the 72 people on board.
Eaglexpress Air Charter Sdn Bhd (doing business as Eaglexpress) was a charter airline with its headquarters in Selangor, MalaysiaNEW AIRLINE: The Eagle Has Landed in Malaysia :: Routesonline and base at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airline was a joint venture between private investors in Malaysia and South Korea, with 60%-40% holding respectively,Eaglexpress fleet plan it plans on specialising in Pilgrimage, Holiday and Business charters as well as ACMI operations on behalf of other airlines. The company was set up in January 2012 and operated their first charter flight in February for a holiday group from South Korea to Malaysia, it was followed by Umra flights to Jeddah for a Malaysian Travel Agency under a six-month contract from March to mid September, flying Pilgrims from Malaysia, Southern Thailand and Indonesia.Eaglexpress striles first business deal The airline hoped to have 8 aircraft by the end of 2012, which include Boeing 737-400/Boeing 737-800, and up to 20 aircraft in the next 5 years.
The CIA reacted strongly to the book A Correspondence with the CIA: "...high-ranking officials of the C.I.A have signed letters for publication to a newspaper and a magazine, granted a rare on-the-record interview at the agency's headquarters in McLean, Va." The C.I.A letters were to the Washington Star and were signed by William E. Colby and Paul C. Velte Jr. "a Washington-based official with Air America, a charter airline that flies missions for the CIA in Southeast Asia." CIA general counsel Lawrence R. Houston wrote the book's publishers Harper & Row and asked that they be given the galley proofs so that the CIA could criticize errors and rebut unproven accusations:"C.I.A officials said they had reason to believe that Mr. McCoy's book contained many unwarranted, unproven and fallacious accusations. They acknowledged that the public stance in opposition to such allegations was a departure from the usual 'low profile' of the agency..." Hersh 1972.

Flying Higher: The Berlin Operation, 2009, p. 191 By the time Modern Air assumed Berliner Flugring's flying programme, the latter had become the city's foremost package tour operator. The two West Berlin charter flight programmes the American supplemental operated under contract to Berliner Flugring and Flug-Union Berlin accounted for approximately 500 round trips during its first summer season in West Berlin. For example, it managed to fit as many as 88 seats into its Douglas DC-4s, 139 seatsseven abreast in the forward cabin into its Trident 1Es, as many as 99 seatssix abreast; this seating arrangement was exclusive to the second and third example and required the aircraft's modification with two additional over-wing emergency exits each side of the fuselage, the only short-bodied One-Elevens to have this into its One-Eleven 400s and as many as 83 and 56 seats62 without galley into its Viscount 810s and HS 748s respectively.

In 1947, scheduled flights from Brussels to Elisabethville in Belgian Congo were launched on behalf of several companies in the Belgian colony, which held the majority of the stakes in the company. In 1949, these shares were acquired by Belgian flag carrier Sabena, which thus owned 72.29 percent in Sobelair.Sobelair portrait at berlin-spotter.de (in German) When Republic of the Congo (Léopoldville) was founded as an independent state in the former Belgian Congo, Sobelair ceased its African service, and concentrated on offering chartered holiday flights to the Mediterranean instead, as well as (between 1957 and 1962) domestic routes using small Cessna 310 airplanes.
Due to flight performance and headwinds, Airlink in March 2019 has decided to re-direct its technical fuel-stop in Windhoek to Walvis Bay Airport, a move which would accommodate more passengers on the final leg to Saint Helena Airport. Mack Air, a charter airline from Botswana has filed tri- weeekly operations between Maun and Windhoek commencing on 1 April 2020. If approved, FlySafair, a low cost-carrier of South Africa, is mulling 3 weekly flights between O.R.Tambo airport and Hosea Kutako. FlyWestair, a subsidiary of privately owned Westair Aviation introduced scheduled passenger flights between Windhoek and O.R.Tambo International Airport from early November 2020.Westair Aviation Hosea Kutako International Airport apron, August 2017 In December 2017 Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA), Namibia's flagship airport, hosted officials from the Airport Council International (ACI) APEX partners from the Dublin Airport Authority, Airports Company South Africa, Office National Des Aeroports of Morocco, Ghana Airports Company and Airports of Mauritius Company, aiming to establish commitment and ultimately confirm a declaration of ACI APEX Safety Peer-review Programme with the Namibia Airports Company (NAC).
81Home of the BAC 1-11 on the Web > Enter > Model Number and Customer Code The introduction of these jet aircraft enabled Channel Airways to become a major provider of charter airline seats to the leading package tour operators in the UK from bases at Southend, Stansted, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Manchester and Teesside. Channel's increasing dependence on the IT market made it a highly seasonal airline, with pronounced peaks and troughs in activity and aircraft utilisation. Each year, the end of the winter trough was followed by a six-week period of intense activity starting in April, when the company's aircraft were contracted by Clarksons to ferry British tourists to and from Rotterdam for the Dutch bulbfield season from ten UK departure points. The end of this season in mid-May also marked the beginning of the actual summer season, when the firm's planes commenced flying holidaymakers from the UK to Majorca, the Spanish mainland and Morocco under contract to the leading contemporary providers of package holidays in the UK. Flights to other Mediterranean resorts – chiefly in Italy and other Adriatic regions – started the following month.
Therefore, Errol Cossey, Martin O'Regan, the group finance director of Dan-Air parent Davies and Newman, and Alan Snudden, Dan-Air's managing director, tried to convince Fred Newman, Davies and Newman's majority shareholder as well as Dan-Air's long- serving chairman, that operating a brand-new fleet of Boeing 737-200 Advanced series jet aircraft – at the time the very latest, state-of-the-art aircraft – was the only way to secure Dan-Air's long-term future as a major player in the charter airline industry. Their argument to Fred Newman was that operating the latest series 200 Advanced model of the 737 would not only give Dan-Air far better cost figures than any of the existing aircraft types in its fleet but would also allow it to leap-frog Britannia, which initially operated only the basic 200 model of the 737. That model lacked important enhancements, such as a short-field capability enabling operations at airfields whose runways were too short for the basic 737-200 model. After failed attempts to convince Fred Newman of their plan's merits, Errol Cossey, Martin O'Regan and Alan Snudden decided to leave Dan-Air.
