The archaeological remains of the forum, temple, church and theater of Liternum are preserved from this period. Liternum was also one of the four oldest cities in Campania in which Christianity was introduced and widely practiced, in the 1st and 2nd century AD. In the 1930s and 1940s, the ONC (Opera Nazionale Combattenti, ‘National Soldiers Works’, a welfare agency formed aftermath of the disastrous Italian defeat at the Battle of Caporetto) directed a large agricultural business in Licola. With the start of World War II, this business ceased activity and was subsequently dismantled. In the 1960s and 1970s Licola emerged as a significant tourist attraction.

In 1566 he was knighted by the second Duke of Parma, Ottavio Farnese, and made ambassador to Flanders. In 1573 he married Isabella Bonelli, great-niece of pope Pius V and sister of cardinal Michele Bonelli. The third Duke of Parma, Alessandro Farnese, appointed Torelli tutor to his son Ranuccio Farnese, and entrusted him with diplomatic missions in Flanders and in Spain. Under the nickname Il Perduto, "the lost one", Torelli was a leading figure in the Accademia degli Innominati, a society of learned and literary men founded in Parma on 13 June 1574, which ceased activity in 1608, the year of Torelli's death.

Between 298 and 306, to serve the densely populated quarters of the Quirinal, Viminal and Esquiline hills, the majestic Baths of Diocletian were built, whose remains can still be seen along Via Cernaia and in Piazza dei Cinquecento. The baths occupied the area between Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza dei Cinquecento, Via Volturno and Via Venti Settembre. They definitively ceased activity in 537, due to the cutting of the aqueducts during the Gothic war. In the eastern part of Piazza dei Cinquecento there was the agger of Servius Tullius, located near the former Porta Viminale, whose remains still rise in front of the Termini railway station.

Back to the Bible Way was the name of a periodical produced between 1952 and 1977 by Roy D. Goodrich (October 15, 1886 - December, 1976) as well as of the movement centered upon that periodical. It was headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Its primary function was to help spread the thought of Goodrich, who had been excommunicated from the Jehovah's Witnesses for disagreeing that Charles Taze Russell was the good and faithful servant promised in the Parable of the Talents, as well as 1914 being the date of the Apocalypse, as Russell had projected. The group and periodical ceased activity in 1977; after the death of Goodrich in December 1976.

Single and title track of their first album "Birth, School, Work, Death" made the U.S. Billboard Top 40 in 1988 after college radio and MTV airplay but the band were less commercially successful in the UK. Albums More Songs About Love and Hate and Unreal World followed, with Chris Burrows replacing Kris Dollimore on guitar in time for the latter, after which the Godfathers left Epic and released two albums on German label Intercord in the early 1990s. The band ceased activity in 2000. In 2003 Peter Coyne and Kris Dollimore played briefly in a band called The Germans with Rat Scabies, formerly of The Damned.

Quarrying has been prominent on the western edge of what is now Harden Moor adjacent to Ryecroft Road for over 300 years, with many of the quarrymen residing in the nearby hamlet of Ryecroft. The sandstone from these quarries (Yeadonian, which is rough rock and rough rock flags) was used to construct the iconic buildings in Saltaire and other local towns and villages. The last operational quarry was Midgeham Cliff End Quarry which was satisfying a demand for a type of sandstone (known as blockstone) that is used in locally constructed housing. The quarry had ceased activity by 2012, but was granted a licence to recycle construction and demolition waste.

Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa was founded on 5 August 1923. In 1926, Cultural Leonesa won the Regional championship and in 1929 Cultural played the Segunda División B and promoted to the second division. In 1931, the club ceased activity and several teams were created in the city with the aim to replace them, but after the Spanish Civil War, Cultural Leonesa came back to the competition. In 1955, Cultural was promoted for the first time to La Liga, but they could only play one season in the Spanish top tier. In 2011, the club was relegated to Tercera División due to unpaid debts to the players and took two years to recover the place in the third tier.

The two main veterinary colleges in the United States ceased activity at the same time and for the same reasons: the Chicago Veterinary College (1883–1920) which trained graduates, notably for the army, and the Kansas City Veterinary College (1891–1918) which trained , and also the Mc Killip Veterinary College of Chicago (1892–1920), which trained graduates and was associated with enormous clinical activity ( cases treated in 1899). Revolution By Night were originally a four piece band featuring vocalist Steve Weeks and bassist Bryon Adamson which was heavily influenced by bands such as Fields of the Nephilim and The Sisters of Mercy. They recorded the album Breathe in 1994, which was released the following year. No further releases followed other than a handful of compilation album tracks, and the group ceased activity in their current format in 1999. The band was originally known as Restoration II from 1992 until 1994 which was a continuation of Weeks' previous band Restoration, with all new members (including Bryon Adamson, Eric Gandoin and Richard Pyne) sourced via an advert placed in UK music newspaper Melody Maker.

A follow-up album called 'The Anti-Fire' was written and recording had started in LA with Nine Inch Nails producer Atticus Ross in 2008, but then encountered delays due to upheaval in the label at the time. The album was put on hold during a period of uncertainty and cost- cutting for the label. After their record label was sold in 2009 the band parted ways with the label and eventually ceased activity. Chris Gordon and Craig Grant continued to work together in Song of Return, but while Chris was involved in the writing he decided to take a back seat from playing live, preferring to focus on his career as a producer for acts including Mónica Naranjo.

The Pampean orogeny can be considered part of the larger Terra Australis orogeny or of the Brasiliano orogeny. The Pampean orogeny developed at a similar time as the Paraguai Belt of the Brasiliano Orogeny, but in difference to the Paraguay Belt that ended up in the interior of Gondwana the Pampean Orogen remained at a continental margin. The orogen eventually ceased activity and was succeeded by the Famatinian orogeny further west. The eastern magmatic belt of the Pampean orogeny is interpreted as the remains of a volcanic arc associated with an east-dipping subduction zone while the western one is thought to represent a younger volcanic arc that developed on what was once the accretionary prism of the orogen.

Before Iranian Revolution, Rafsanjani was active in the anti-Shah activities and reportedly associated with the Islamic Coalition's shura-ye ruhaniyat () and the People's Mujahedin. After several schisms, the organization has largely ceased activity. On January 28, 2017, some radical members of Magyar Gárda held a demonstration against Gábor Vona outside Jobbik's year-opening event. Participants denounced the new politics of Jobbik as a betrayal of the right wing.

The city's third professional football team Olimpia Poznań ceased activity in 2004, focusing on other sports, and remains one of the best judo and tennis clubs in the country, the latter hosting the Poznań Open tournament at the Tennis Park. The club is a large sports complex surrounded by Lake Rusałka, and apart from the tennis facilities boasts a large city recreation area: mountain biking facilities including a four-cross track; an athletics stadium (capacity 3000); and a football-speedway stadium (capacity 20 000), which fell into vast disrepair until it was acquired by the city council from the police in 2013 and was renovated. The football-speedway stadium hosts speedway club PSŻ Poznań, rugby union side NKR Chaos, American football team the Armia Poznań, and football team Poznaniak Poznań. Legia Warszawa The city has the largest circuit in Poland, Tor Poznań, located in the suburbs in Przeźmierowo.

It was rather difficult to assign Steaua's Peluza Nord and Peluza Sud fans a certain style. They could have been described by the typical Italian style, common in different respects to all Romanian groups of fans, with lots of choreographies, banners, flags, doubleholders and flags swinging in the air but on the other hand still had serious Hooligan influences existent from the defunct Armata Ultra' era. Therefore, they mostly resembled the West-European style, typical for fans such as those of AFC Ajax, Paris Saint-Germain FC, BV Borussia Dortmund, etc.

However, for the second time in the club's history, it ceased activity at the end of the 1931–32 season. Four years later, Lecce returned and competed Serie C, finishing 11th in their return season. Around this time, the club was in turmoil: the following season they withdrew from Serie C after four days, and then during the 1938–39 season, they finished in third place but were moved down to 12th after it was revealed the club had violated the league's federal regulations. The club finished in first place during the 1943–44 season, but club football was then suspended due to World War II. Nonetheless, when club football resumed, Lecce finished as champions of Serie C, gaining promotion back into Serie B. Two decent seasons followed (finishing fourth and third in respective seasons), with star player Silvestri scoring 20 goals in one season, before the club was relegated.
