On 1 March near the hamlet of Courcelles a man was attacked by the wolf and survived with head wounds. The next victims were two young boys, named Boucher and Maréchal, who were attacked on the road to Paris, both badly wounded. A farmer on horseback lost part of his face to the wolf before escaping to a local mill, where a seventeen-year-old boy was caught unaware and slain. After these atrocities the wolf fled to Bazoches, where it partially decapitated a woman and severely wounded a girl, who ran screaming to the village for help.

Obreška is a village near Ivanić-Grad, where on 10 September 1565 an Ottoman raiding party from Bosnia Eyalet was met by Croatian ban's troops; it was just another Ottoman raid into the Kingdom of Croatia. After the sack of Krupa, an Ottoman detachment led by Bosnian Beylerbey Mustafa Pasha Sokolović (about 12,000 men) crossed the river Sava and started to plunder along the rivers Lonja and Glogovnica towards Križevci. The Ottomans were caught unaware and after a short engagement scattered near Obreška by the army of Croatian ban Petar Erdody (1557-67)-about 1,000 cavalry and 3,000 infantry conscripts (lat. insurrectio), mostly armed serfs.
