A Prepaid Variable Forward contract (PVF) is an investment strategy that allows a shareholder with a concentrated stock holding to generate liquidity for diversification or other purposes. Additionally, the shareholder will receive cash in hand without paying the capital gains taxes that would apply to a security disposal. The PVF allows the investor to receive an up-front payment (typically, 75-85% market value) in exchange for delivery of a variable number of shares or cash in the future. Since the contract establishes floor and threshold prices that govern how many shares (or cash equivalent) are returned at a given market price, the investor will be protected against downside risk below the floor while enjoying appreciation potential up to the threshold.

Edwards won the previously very safe Labor seat from the incumbent member Robert Coombs at the 2011 state election following a previous attempt for the seat at the 2007 state election. Edwards was elected with a swing of 14.0 points and won the seat with 51.1 per cent of the two-party vote. Following his election, Edwards stated that he was yet to make a decision about whether he will continue to sit both on Council and as a member of parliament. On 14 August 2014, Edwards stood aside from the parliamentary Liberal Party following the ICAC testimony of Newcastle mayor and property developer Jeff McCloy, who told the Commission he had donated $1,800 cash-in-hand to Edwards' campaign.

Although most of the workers originally planned to return to India, the planters lobbied the Government to allow them to stay and defray their settlement costs, largely to save on the costs of returning them to the Indian subcontinent. Money and land were used as incentives, with time expired Indians offered 10 or of Crown land. Often the land was mountainous and infertile so many chose to take the cash in hand and by 1877 close to £32,000 had been spent by the Jamaican authorities. The monetary grants were suspended in 1879, with the land grants being halted from 1897 to 1903 and abandoned in 1906 as there was little difference in the costs of repatriating a worker (£15 per person) and offering land grants of £12 per head.

Ellams moved into cash-in- hand poetry performance and selling his books as a way to make a living and help his mother to educate his sisters through university while his father was unable to work. Robinson mentored Ellams for his first solo play, The 14th Tale, produced by Fuel Theatre, which took a chance on Ellams despite him not having a work permit in the UK. Ellams had a gig at a sodden Glastonbury Festival, playing to a sozzled crowd. Ellams attended a Royal garden party at the Buckingham Palace at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II, with Goldie and Andrew Marr, while under threat of deportation by the Home Office. Despite this, the Home Office refuses to recognize Ellams, or the rest of his family, as British citizens.

Joanna Jeffrees had her first London acting agent at fourteen, Movie Mites, and whilst with them auditioned for a role in the Stanley Kubrick film Eyes Wide Shut. By the age of sixteen Joanna had played a variety of minor TV roles, including being the invited guest on the Cable TV Series 'Cash In Hand'. Joanna then went on to play Ellen Malpass alongside Janet Suzman, Joyce Redman, Edward Hardwicke and Richard Johnson in the Ruth Rendell Mystery 'Front Seat', directed by Sandy Johnson for Meridan and ITV Productions. More recently Joanna can be seen as the female job candidate in an episode of the British comedy TV series Peep Show, and as one of the regular daily commuters in the two part BBC TV drama 'The 7:39', starring Sheridan Smith and David Morrissey.

The Park Theatre opened in 1883 (also known as the New Park Theatre) on the partly demolished site of the Great New York Aquarium (1876–1881), which is unrelated to the later New York Aquarium. Actor Charles E. Evans, retiring from the stage with cash in hand from the long- running success of A Parlor Match, refurbished the prior Harrigan's Park Theatre as the Herald Square Theatre in 1894.Who's who on the stage, p. 90 (1906) It stood at 1331 Broadway, designed by architects Rose & Stone, with about 1150 seats and with its interior furnished by the interior of the nearby Booth's Theatre, which was being demolished. Lee Shubert took over the lease of the theatre in 1900, making it the first Broadway theatre owned by The Shubert Organization.

The boy walks away happy in his boxers with some cash in hand. After submitting his script in a khaki envelope, a lady gives him a number and tells him not to call it but rather they would use it to call him if he is selected.

About 1886 McKellar added a two-roomed cottage wing to the house. By December 1892 Thomas McKellar had returned permanently to Scotland and in March 1893 transferred his interest in Raglan, including the head station freehold, to his brother Ernest Edward McKellar, who initially resided on the property. By April 1898 John N Menzies, whose father had managed Raglan station from 1878 to 1885, had returned to Raglan as manager, a position he held for eleven years. Following the devastating drought of 1902, EE McKellar was left with a run reduced to five-sixths of its original area and in 1909 made the decision to dispose of Raglan Station, selling to John Murray Macdonald on 18 February 1910 JM Macdonald (only he chose this spelling of the family name McDonald) had sold his Ben Ean vineyard, cellar and distillery in New South Wales to Lindeman's Wines Ltd with a four-year management contract to early 1912, allowing him "cash in hand" to travel north in search of a cattle property.
