He is a pediatrician, anesthesiologist, and cardiologist with a specialty in critical care medicine. Luis Molinari (1929 in Guayaquil, Ecuador - 1994 in Quito, Ecuador) (Luis Molinari-Flores) was a member of the VAN Group (Vanguardia Artística Nacional), a collective of informal constructivist artists founded by Enrique Tábara and Aníbal Villacís. Molinari began his artistic career focused on formalism, but soon discovered the works of Vasarely and was inspired by geometric forms and their rich optical effects. Much of Izaurralde's early career focused on elucidating how this export occurs at a molecular level. The early work in Tirrell's career focused on the behavior of macromolecules in physically confined spaces, in which both the structure and motion of the macromolecule are constrained and distorted by the confining boundaries. For example, the apparent viscosity of a macromolecular solution can be lower because the centers-of-mass of the macromolecules cannot get close to the wall, giving rise to a low viscosity depletion layer (a similar phenomenon occurs, albeit at larger scales, in blood flow in narrow vessels). Tirrell was responsible for developing a quantitative, predictive theoretical picture of this type of phenomenon and comparing it with experimental rheological results. His papers describing this research have collectively been cited more than 1000 times.

Frank Hoar in the 1950s Harold Frank Hoar, FRIBA (13 September 1909 - 3 October 1976) was a British architect, artist, academic and architectural historian. Hoar first came to public prominence when, at the age of 25, he won a competition to design the first terminal building at London's Gatwick Airport in the 1930s. His architectural career focused increasingly on town planning in the post war years, when he also became a well known public commentator on domestic architecture in that era of reconstruction. A senior lecturer at University College London, Hoar was an expert on the Bavarian Baroque and wrote histories of English and European architecture at a time when architectural modernism decried the value of an historical approach to architecture.

Schwartz was a prolific writer but is most known for her 1989 article, Management Women and the New Facts of Life published in Harvard Business Review. Schwartz sparked a national debate by stating that “the cost of employing women in management is greater than the cost of employing men,” and suggesting that employers create two tracks for women, one for the career focused and one for the family focused. Roubicek continued some acting in his later years, including a small role in The Infiltrator, a 1995 film about a Jewish freelance journalist who travels to Germany for a story about Neo-Nazism. The Small Learning Community (SLC) model is structured to provide a more personalized learning environment, including collaboration amongst teachers and between students, interdisciplinary studies, and project-based learning, although schools need not offer any or all of these aspects in their curriculum model. SLCs are essentially separate clusters or groupings of learning spaces, often with a central common or flexible learning area at their heart, with a variety of learning and group meeting rooms opening onto it, including several classrooms or learning studios, and a science lab. Theme-based or career-focused SLCs in particular may also incorporate special labs, makerspaces, or vocational shops. A school would have multiple SLCs, often with between 100 and 200 students, which can be operated on a departmental, academy, or small schools model.

Malhi has advanced our understanding of the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems and how they are responding to the pressures of global change in the Anthropocene, including climate change, biodiversity decline and loss of megafauna. This work integrates insights from ecosystem ecology into earth system science, and has been characterised by an interdisciplinary approach that involves establishing broad networks of field research in tropical forests in some of the most remote and challenging regions of the world. His early career focused on Amazonia, but in recent years his research interests have expanded across Africa and Asia. He has ongoing projects in Malaysia, the Ankasa Conservation Area, Kakum National Park and Kogyae Strict Nature Reserve in Ghana, Lopé National Park in Gabon, the Serra do Mar coastal forests in Brazil.

As a sophomore in May 1929, Tolan broke the Big Ten Conference record and tied the world's record for the 100 yard dash with a time of 9.6. After his retirement from the military in 1968, Asghar Khan founded the Tehrik-e-Istiqlal (Solidarity Party) with a secular and centrist political program in direct opposition to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML), but failed to make any significant impact in the 1970 Pakistani general elections. From the 1970s–90s, Khan's political career focused towards the 'Dharna' or 'politics of agitation', against the elected civilian governments, and gained notability when he filed multiple lawsuits, over the Mehrangate bank scandal, against the PPP and the PML(N) at the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the 1990s. During this time, Khan authored many political books, some very critical or given dissenting criticism of the Pakistan Army's involvement in national politics. In 2011, Khan merged his party with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Movement for Justice).

Schwartz has had a three-decade career focused on humanitarian and human rights issues. He was educated at Binghamton University, receiving a B.A. in Political Science; at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, receiving an M.P.A. with a specialization in International Relations; and at the New York University School of Law, receiving a J.D. After law school, Schwartz worked for the human rights organization Asia Watch (now the Asia Division of Human Rights Watch). In 1989, he became a staff consultant of the United States House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. Ira Robert Byock ( ; born February 13, 1951, Newark, New Jersey) is an American physician, author, and advocate for palliative care. He is founder and chief medical officer of the Providence St. Joseph Health Institute for Human Caring in Torrance, California, and holds appointments as active emeritus professor of medicine and professor of community health and family medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. He was director of palliative medicine at Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center, from 2003–14, and associate director for patient and family-centered care at the affiliated Norris-Cotton Cancer Center. Byock's early career focused on emergency medicine and rural practice in parallel with an interest in hospice care, and then founded the Missoula Demonstration Project and became director for the Robert Wood Johnson Promoting Excellence in End-of-Life Care initiative.

On Sept. 19, 2006, KU Edwards Campus dedicated a new 1900 sq. ft. molecular biology lab which includes a teaching lab, research lab, preparatory area and sterile culture room. It features a BSL2+ designation, which enables the lab to handle most microbes used in teaching microbiology, pathogenic microbiology and genetics. On April 21, 2010, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on KU Edwards Campus for the Business, Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Building, a 75,000-square-foot, $23 million facility. The BEST Building opened on March 2, 2012, expanding the undergraduate and graduate opportunities available to 1,000 additional students in these four disciplines and offering 10 new degree programs. By fall of 2019, enrollment at KU Edwards Campus climbed 24.5 percent over the previous three years, bringing the total student credit hours for fall 2019 to 13,393 – the highest enrollment in more than 10 years. KUEC offers more than 50 graduate, undergraduate and academic certificate programs and continues to answer the unique workforce needs of the Kansas City metro area, serving nearly 2,000 nontraditional students with flexible, career- focused education.

Friedan notes that this was helped along by the fact that many of the women who worked during the war filling jobs previously filled by men faced dismissal, discrimination, or hostility when the men returned, and that educators blamed over-educated, career-focused mothers for the maladjustment of soldiers in World War II. Yet as Friedan shows, later studies found that overbearing mothers, not careerists, were the ones who raised maladjusted children. Chapter 9: Friedan shows that advertisers tried to encourage housewives to think of themselves as professionals who needed many specialized products in order to do their jobs, while discouraging housewives from having actual careers, since that would mean they would not spend as much time and effort on housework and therefore would not buy as many household products, cutting into advertisers' profits. Chapter 10: Friedan interviews several full-time housewives, finding that although they are not fulfilled by their housework, they are all extremely busy with it. She postulates that these women unconsciously stretch their home duties to fill the time available, because the feminine mystique has taught women that this is their role, and if they ever complete their tasks they will become unneeded.
