The restored Ecurie Ecosse Car Transporter The team was accompanied by a 2-axle double-deck car transporter capable of carrying three cars (one inside and two on top) together with a support crew, and with mobile workshop facilities. The transporter was designed by Selby Howgate and built by coachbuilders Alexander, of Falkirk, Scotland. Based on a Commer chassis it is powered by a Commer TS3 three- cylinder horizontally-opposed two-stroke diesel engine. From the early 1990s enthusiast collector Dick Skipworth built up his remarkable Ecurie Ecosse Collection.

One other Aberdonian chassis 82525K registered XYF2 was new transporting Lola Cars then went to the John Cooper motor racing team in London as a coachbuilt (coachbuilder unknown) car transporter and a third chassis 82521A was bodied as a furniture van (registration as well as coachbuilder not currently known) to Lancashire furniture maker Eastham, Thornton.

For part of the year, the station is also served by car transporter trains from Helsinki, Turku and Tampere. A new station building was constructed at Kolari in 2000, in the style of a Lappish hut. Most trains (both freight and passenger) at Kolari are hauled by VR Class Dr16 diesel locomotives, with smaller Dv12 locomotives also seeing use.

An engineer by trade, O'Mara worked as a miner and served his apprenticeship at Chislet Colliery at 1968, delaying his move from Margate to Wimbledon to complete it. When O'Mara returned to Thanet in 1976, he worked at the Betteshanger Colliery. He later owned a plant hire company and drove a car transporter. As of 2012, O'Mara was residing in Margate.

In 2006, all Leopards were withdrawn from public service, with some even clocking up an incredible 28 years of service. In the 1980s, Ulsterbus shortened a few of its Leopards for use as towbuses. Leyland Leopards also saw use with the British Military, and were exported to many other countries. Following the success of the Dinky Supertoys range of die-cast trucks, Corgi decided to launch a range of heavy commercial vehicles in October 1957 with the release of the Carrimore Car Transporter (1101) featuring a Bedford S-Type tractor unit with full glazing in keeping with the rest of the Corgi range, and the company's first gift set including the Carrimore Car Transporter and four cars (GS1); Austin Cambridge (201), Jaguar 2.4 (208), Austin-Healey (300) and MGA (302) in time for the Christmas market in December 1957. Early models in the new 'Corgi Major' range were issued in sturdy two piece boxes featuring the blue and yellow colour scheme that had recently been adopted across the entire Corgi range, later models in the 1960s using clear fronted packaging in line with the rest of the Corgi Toys range. The Carrimore Low Loader (1100) was the next release in April 1958 which was a low loader trailer attached to the Bedford cab and was followed by the similar Machinery Carrier low loader (1104) in September 1958. In November 1958 the Euclid TC12 Bulldozer (1102) was issued.

A large earth mover which was being widely used in the construction of the M1, the UK's first motorway, the Euclid factory was only two miles from Corgi headquarters which allowed easy access to all the data required to produce a very accurate model. April 1959 saw the release of the Bedford Fuel Tanker in the red livery of 'Mobilgas' (1110) and this model was revamped in pale blue and white as the Bedford Milk Tanker (1129) in May 1962, and both were later re-issued with a more modern Bedford TK cab. The Midland Red Motor Express Coach (1120), issued in March 1960, was a model of the latest high speed coach for the motorway age fitted with a turbo-charged engine and capable of 100 mph, and a model of the pioneering SR.N1 hovercraft (1119) was released in June 1960. In November 1962 the new Bedford TK cab unit was also fitted to the existing Carrimore Car Transporter (1105) and was also included in a new Car Transporter Gift Set (GS28) in December 1963 along with four cars; Ford Consul Classic (234), Mercedes-Benz 220 SE (230), Renault Floride (222) and Fiat 2100 (232).

Lord Grant died on 19 November 1972 as a result of a road accident near Lynchat, about 3 miles north of Kingussie in Inverness-shire. He was 63 years old. Driving home alone from Brora in Sutherland, his BMW had overtaken a car transporter on a double bend, and collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction, carrying a young family home to Alness. The crash killed the driver of the other car, and seriously injured his wife and their three children, aged between three and seven years.

Leahy's boxing career came to an abrupt end in September 1965. As he was driving to see his manager in Leamington Spa, he ran into the back of a car transporter which was parked up; its driver asleep and its lights off. As a result of the crash Leahy lost the sight of his left eye and his hearing was damaged. In 2003 Leahy was on a family trip to New York with his wife Teresa; sister-in-law Eileen and eldest son, Noel; when it became apparent that his memory was failing.

During the winter season, car transporter trains operating between Thusis and Samedan also used the tunnel until 2011. Due to the threat of rockfalls and general deterioration over time, it was planned for the original tunnel to have been renovated during the 2020s. But in 2010, the Rhaetian Railway announced that it had identified the construction of a second tunnel alongside the first as its preferred option, with one of several reasons being a relatively minor difference in cost. The Ecurie Ecosse Racing Transporter (1126) issued in October 1961 was a racing car transporter custom built for the Scottish motor racing team Ecurie Ecosse, with room for three cars and an on-board workshop. The Corgi model featured operational ramps, a sliding door revealing the workshop complete with a miniature lathe, operational steering, and was finished in authentic dark blue. Racing Transporter Set (GS16) was also released in October 1961 featuring the Ecurie Ecosse transporter along with three racing cars; Vanwall (150), BRM (156) and [Lotus XI] (151). The Simon Snorkel Aerial Rescue Truck (1127) was issued in September 1964.

1970 Lancia Superjolly car transporter The low-loading truck - with a loading floor max height of only - was available with a variety of bodywork, as a van, pick-up, ambulance, and bus. There were also special designs available, such as a mobile home version and a display truck for companies to show their new products. The truck was also used by the Poste italiane. The 1966 arrival of the much simpler and cheaper Fiat 124-engined, front-wheel-drive Fiat 238 marked the beginning of the end for the Superjolly, although it soldiered on until 1970.

Alfa Romeo built the Mille in a rear-wheel drive 4x2 configuration. The Mille could carry eight metric tons of cargo in the bed and a tow up to 18 tons; a fifth wheel tractor unit version was also made, rated for a 26.2 ton towing capacity. Independent firms offered conversion to three or four axles by adding one or two dead axles, steerable or fixed; maximum bed payload went up respectively to over 10 or 13 tons. Italian Bartoletti made a car transporter version of the Mille in 1963, which could carry up to eight cars on two levels of the car and trailer.

The 1st Cornwall MRC Formula 1 Race was the first Cornwall MRC motor race, run to Formula One rules, held on 7 June 1954 at the Davidstow Circuit, Cornwall. The race was run over 20 laps of the little circuit, and was won by British driver John Riseley-Prichard in a Connaught Type A. This was the first of three Formula One races held in Cornwall during 1954 and 1955, and was the first Formula One event to include a Kieft on the grid, driven by Horace Gould."Davidstow", Peter Tutthill, 1996. Gould later caused the entire meeting to be ended prematurely when he crashed his car transporter (a converted double-decker bus) into a footbridge, bringing it down on to the track.

One layout has a high-level circuit supported by 87mm high pillars which have been created from three of the middle-rise piers firmly stacked together. This height suffices to clear an HO Railroad on a roadbed-type track, as well as any US-1 road circuit running a loaded car transporter. There were also three Plastic Construction Kits: a Mobil Truck Station, a Howard Johnson's Truck Stop, and a P.I.E. Freight Terminal, each molded in several colors to be glued together. These were supplied by Pola, in what was then West Germany and were also sold for a time as part of the Tyco model railroad range, but in plain Tyco 'Brown Box' packaging, sometimes with slightly different colorings or markings or with lights.

DB AutoZug GmbH was a German rail transport company that provided automobile (Motorail) and night passenger train services for Deutsche Bahn AG. It was based in Dortmund and was a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG. On 30 September 2013 the company was merged into DB AG's long distance division DB Fernverkehr. Night trains were operated with the sister company CityNightLine AG (headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland); until CityNightLine AG merged with DB NachtZug. DB AutoZug GmbH and CityNightLine were subsidiaries of DB Fernverkehr AG which in turn was a wholly owned subsidiary of DB Mobility Logistics AG. DB AutoZug GmbH was also responsible for the car transporter trains from Niebüll - Westerland, known as the SyltShuttle, as well as the Schifffahrt und Inselbahn Wangeroogeshipping (Island railway of Wangerooge).

The stickers have a tendency to dry out and fall off over time and the gantries themselves are delicate and prone to breakage, deformation and yellowing. They are often discarded or not used, as they obstruct the cleaning of the contact rails, attending to a vehicle, or resetting an action station. The earlier gantries have a clearance height of 60mm from the ground and have 35mm long flat feet on either side intended to be tucked under the track. These are not very effective at standing up and are too low for the loaded car transporter to pass beneath. The later type of gantries have a 70mm clearance from the ground and the feet are only 25mm long, but each has a wedge shape projecting against the side of the track.

The Alfa Romeo 500 was used by the Royal Italian Army during World War II under the heading of "500 DR." It was used in the campaign in Russia and the armored version was used in the Balkan campaign. The frame of the model was also used as basis for military buses. The Army version had a top speed of , and was able to exceed a maximum gradient of 27% and had a range of with a full tank (about 100 L). From 1937 to 1940 Alfa Romeo 500 was also used by the Italian Fire Department as a fire engine or truck. The 500 was also used by Alfa Romeo and Scuderia Ferrari as a racing car transporter for both grand prix racers and Formula 1 cars.

The first rolling stock, two diesel locomotives and some flatcars, arrived on tank landing craft (LCT) that were unloaded over Utah Beach on 10 July. Later that month the Seatrain railroad car transporter ships USAT Seatrain Texas and Seatrain Lakehurst began delivering rolling stock to Cherbourg. The port was still too badly damaged for them to be berthed, so they were unloaded in the stream, with rolling stock transferred to barges that were unloaded on the shore with the aid of mobile cranes. While the seatrains brought in the heavier equipment like locomotives and tank cars, most rolling stock arrived on tank landing ships (LSTs) fitted with rails. By 31 July 1944, 48 diesel and steam locomotives and 184 railway cars had arrived from the United Kingdom, and another 100 steam locomotives, 1,641 freight cars, and 76 passenger cars had been captured. The transport USAT Seatrain Texas The commander of the 2nd Military Railway Service, Brigadier General Clarence L. Burpee, arrived in Normandy on 17 June, and by the end of July the 707th Railway Grand Division had the 720th, 728th and 729th Railway Operating Battalions and the 757th Shop Battalion operational.

The large box trailer featured sliding side doors, opening rear doors and was finished in the blue and silver 'Express Services' livery. The leap in quality of this model proved that the Major range had entered a new era, and it continued to sell well until 1972. The new Ford cab was used again in April 1966 with a new version of the Carrimore Car Transporter (1138) which had been re-designed to carry up to six Corgi cars, and which also featured in Gift Set 41 along with six cars; Ford Cortina Estate (440), Rover 2000 (252), Hillman Imp (251), Mini Cooper De-Luxe (249), Austin Seven (225) and Mini Cooper Monte Carlo 1966 (321). This gift set was initially only available by mail order but was finally issued in time for Christmas in December 1967. The Holmes Wrecker Recovery Vehicle (1142) issued in May 1967 was also based on the Ford H Series tractor unit, and featured twin boom die-cast recovery cranes with hooks attached to cotton lines that could be extended by winding a pair of spare wheels attached to the sides of the vehicle, and also included were two model mechanics previously seen with the 'Express Services' truck.
