In Lumsden, Nugent established his first studio (formerly a barn) and bronze casting foundry on a 2.7-hectare parcel of land that forms the north slope of the Qu’Appelle Valley. He received numerous commissions in the decades following, initially producing religious sculptures in silver and bronze (liturgical commissions, including chalices and candleholders) while supporting his family as a chandler. According to Timothy Long, these works were "simplified, yet expressive": chalices and crucifixes which demonstrated Nugent's interest in modern interpretations of early Christian and Romanesque models. The fresco depicts an apocalyptical angel with five candleholders. Reconstruction began in 1946 and, insofar as materials could be procured, a wide range of own constructions were designed and manufactured such as spin dryers, circular saws, lamps, sledges, candleholders, scooters, coat racks, toys and Braille typewriters. 1950–1960 In the following years, separators as well as milking and feeding installations were developed and manufactured.

On March 7, 2005, the Inter- American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States reopened an investigation into the el Mozote massacre based on the evidence found by the Argentine forensic anthropologists. As of December 2011, activists continued to lobby the Inter-American Court of Human Rights to hear the case. In a January 2007 report in The Washington Post, a former Salvadoran soldier, José Wilfredo Salgado, told of returning to el Mozote several months after the massacre and collecting the skulls of the youngest victims, whose remains were exposed by recent rains, for "candleholders and good-luck charms". Seventeen bacchantes (personifications of the female servants of Bacchus, the ancient Roman god of wine) standing on orbs, their outstretched arms holding candleholders, could be inserted into small rectangular pedestals at equidistant points around the centerpiece. Numerous and prestigious are the sacred furnishings of the church, including the bronze crucifix found on the main altar, and the angel candleholders placed at the ends of the rich marble transenna, made by Giambologna, as well as the large ciborium in silver designed by Giovanni Battista Foggini (1678–86) on the altar of the Blessed Sacrament chapel. On the numerous side altars are located 16th and 17th century paintings. But "to be safe", she wrote, the court was applying the stricter standards for criminal ordinances. "Right Said Fred" (also written "Right, Said Fred") is a novelty song of 1962 written by Ted Dicks and Myles Rudge. It is about three men (the narrator, "Fred" and "Charlie") working as manual labourers who are trying to move an unidentified item of furniture (probably a piano or an organ, as it is clarified that it has feet, a seat, handles and candleholders) in a building without success, eventually giving up after having dismantled the piece of furniture, part-demolished the building – including removing a door, a wall and the ceiling – and taking numerous tea breaks. The lyrics do not specify whether Fred recovers from "half a ton of rubble [falling] on the top of his dome" (slang for head) prior to the others having a final teabreak and going home. Dicks said that he was inspired to write the song by incidents that took place when he employed men to move a grand piano he had bought.
