In a match played at Arena Corinthians on April 19, 2015, the teams drew in normal time by the score of 2 to 2: Palmeiras came out ahead with a goal from Victor Ramos, took the turn with goals from Danilo and Mendoza, but drew with Rafael Marques. The championship regulations provided for a single game at the home of the team with the best campaign, the unbeaten white-black.

Peter Carlisle’s opponents in 1996 for the role of Honolulu Prosecutor were defense attorney and three-year deputy prosecutor David Arakawa and former deputy prosecutor and Liquor Commission administrator Randal Yoshida. Keith Kaneshiro, who was Prosecuting Attorney since 1988, endorsed David Arakawa. David Arakawa came out ahead of Carlisle in the primary, but did not win over 50% of the vote in the September election to win outright. Carlisle steadily gained in the polls after the September Primary and beat Arakawa in the November runoff in the general election. Political analysts credited Carlisle’s more extensive experience as a deputy prosecutor, his independence from political parties, and his performance in televised debates as reasons for winning.

With no league match scheduled for the second week the Wizards visited their new cross state rival AC St. Louis. The friendly was part of a doubleheader planned to pit the Swope Park Rangers versus University of Evansville and Wizards v Saint Louis. In the opener the newest striker Sunil Chhetri struck for a hat trick against the amateur Evansville Purple Aces leading to a 5-0 victory. The Wizards fielded a weaken side for the second match but still came out ahead 2-1 thanks to a late Santiago Hirsig winner, more importantly though was the lost of backup center forward Zoltán whose ACL was torn and is expected to miss five-to-eight months.

In another controversial season, Nebraska was chosen as a national title game participant despite being ranked No. 4 in both human polls and not winning their conference. The Huskers went into their final regular season game at Colorado undefeated, but left Boulder with a 62–36 loss, and Colorado went on to win the Big 12 championship. However, the BCS computers, which contributed to 50% of the rankings, did not take into account time of loss, so one-loss Nebraska came out ahead of two-loss Colorado and one-loss Oregon, the consensus No. 2 in both human polls (but 4th in the BCS). Quebec opened the 1987 Stanley Cup playoffs with a first round matchup against the Hartford Whalers in a best of seven series. The Whalers, who swept the Nordiques in 1986, finished the season in first place in the Adams Division with a 43-30-7 record, earning 93 points, which was 21 more than Quebec. The series began with two games at the Hartford Civic Center, and the Whalers continued their winning ways against the Nordiques in the playoffs, winning the first game 3–2 in overtime, followed by a narrow 5–4 victory over Quebec in the second game to take a 2–0 series lead. With the series returning to Le Colisée for the next two games, the Nordiques responded, easily defeating Hartford 5–1 in the third game, followed by a 4–1 win in the fourth game to even the series at two. The series shifted back to Hartford for the fifth game, however, the Nordiques came out ahead with a solid 7–5 victory, to take a 3–2 series lead. Quebec would complete the upset, winning 5–4 in overtime in the sixth game in Quebec City, to win the series 4–2.
