Morgan, then Postmaster of New York City, with a proposal to set up a not-for- profit organization (the Santa Claus Association), which would receive, verify, and respond to Christmas letters sent by needy children in New York. Gluck, who was born on Christmas Day, was seen as a natural choice for the role. The Santa Claus Association essentially served as a middleman between donors and children. Volunteers would spend their time reading and organizing letters while donors (often wealthy businesspersons or other members of the social elite) would fund the gift-giving operations.

World War II in Europe began on 1 September 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. Later that month, the Soviet Red Army invaded the eastern regions of Poland under the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. The Germans transferred the area around Jedwabne to the Soviets in accordance with the German–Soviet Boundary Treaty of 28 September 1939. Anna M. Cienciala writes that most of the Jews understandably welcomed the Soviets as the "lesser evil than the Germans", though the Orthodox Jewish majority rejected their ideology, and businesspersons and the assimilated Jewish intelligentsia did not trust their intentions; and soon enough the Soviets had moved against the Jewish intelligentsia, arrested leaders of the Jewish Bund, and nationalized private businesses.

United front officials: Another stereotype of indigenous Communist supporters are united front officials sent by the Communist Party of China to work in Hong Kong trade unions, or indigenous Hong Kongers trained thereby. 'Patriotic' entrepreneurs: It is alleged that some businesspersons support indigenous Communists; further, that some of these supporters have been drug dealers or Triad members. Some of these accusations gave the motivation that after the handover of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China in 1997, supporting the Communists would give their businesses an advantage, furthering them into oligopoly. Opponents of this kind of association attribute the scandals in the media in Hong Kong to the closer ties between the businesses and the Communists (of all shades).

The 2018 Jaipur Literature Festival was organised from 25 January to 29 January at the Diggi Palace in Jaipur. The biggest yet, the event saw participation from more than 380 people from across the world, who represented over 20 international and 15 Indian languages. As of 1988 the students often had parents who were more likely to want their children to learn and adapt to the American culture and the English language compared to typical parents living in Japan, and as of that year over 30% of the New York City area parents of Japanese school age children selected the full-time New York Japanese School instead of the weekend school and local school combination.Kunieda, p. 136. Businesspersons emigrated from Venezuela due to government price controls and corruption, shortages, and foreign exchange controls. Accountants and administrators left for countries experiencing economic growth, such as Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and the US. A Latin America Economic System study reported that the emigration of highly skilled laborers age 25 or older from Venezuela to OECD countries rose by 216 percent between 1990 and 2007. An estimated 75 percent of about 20,000 PDVSA (Petróleos de Venezuela) workers who left the company emigrated to other countries for work. Former oil engineers began work on oil rigs in the North Sea and in the tar sands of western Canada; the number of Venezuelans in Alberta increased from 465 in 2001 to 3,860 in 2011.

An early print of the West Street Building by Joseph Pennell The formation of the City of Greater New York in 1898 resulted in a sharp increase in the number of buildings being erected in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, and by the first decade of the 20th century, the neighborhood had forty new office buildings. Since the power of attorney readily and conveniently furnishes proof of an agent's authority, banking and financial institutions, and businesspersons generally, usually require agents to exhibit powers of attorney before entering into transactions with them. Although there is no general law prescribing formalities for powers of attorney, there are requirements for powers of attorney for certain specific purposes. For example, if the power of attorney is to be used in a deeds registry, it must be attested either by two witnesses above the age of fourteen years and competent to give evidence in a court of law, or by a magistrate, justice of the peace, commissioner of oaths or notary public, but no person who derives any benefit under such power of attorney may attest it.Deeds Registries Act 47 of 1937, s 95.

Only one Mexican, a man in Hong Kong, was found to be infected. On 5 May 2009, the Chinese government, warning its citizens against traveling to Mexico, sent an airplane from Shanghai to collect some 100 of its citizens (mainly tourists, students and businesspersons) from Mexico, where 22 swine flu-related deaths had already occurred, and where the citizens had been hiding in northern hotels for some days waiting for the chance to leave. Due to Düsseldorf's central location within Europe and proximity to other areas in Europe, its location in the Ruhr industrial area, and the proximity to the seaport Duisburg, Japanese companies had a preference for Düsseldorf as they established European operations in the 1970s. By 1973 2,000 Japanese were registered as living in Düsseldorf and 200 Japanese companies were located in the area.

The IFAWA came to be in May 1939 and consisted of six combined fishing unions, was affiliated with the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), and represented fishery workers in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. The union represented fishery workers from every part of the fishing process, from the fishermen catching the fish all the way to the workers that canned the fish in canneries. The decisions and rulings laid down from Office of Price Administration (OPA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), during and after World War II, had direct effect on the fishing industry in the Pacific Northwest and the IFAWA. The OPA had set price ceilings for fish caught during World War II and the FTC's anti- monopoly division concluded that the IFAWA was a group of businesspersons concluding to raise the prices of the fish that they sold.

Hunter successfully ran for the Louisiana House of Representatives District 17 seat in the general election held on November 16, 2011. He defeated a large field of candidates including seasoned politicians and businesspersons to become the first representative of the newly-drawn District 17, which includes twenty-seven precincts in Ouachita Parish. Once he established his residency in Hawaiʻi, Hatch assimilated into the mercantile class of mostly Americans, but a growing number of Europeans and Chinese were also businesspersons. He became a protege of Sanford B. Dole, the representative to the island of Kauaʻi in the legislature of the Hawaiian Kingdom. In 1893, the mercantile class became concerned that Queen Liliʻuokalani would try to rescind the 1887 Constitution of the Hawaiian Kingdom, known as the Bayonet Constitution, challenging the share of power between the monarchy and the parliament. When the Queen tried to forcibly recapture power, the business leaders of Hawaiʻi supported the parliamentarians, led by Dole, and forced the Queen into total abdication of her throne. Following the Queen’s abdication, a new provisional government was created under the presidency of Dole. While Hatch was not in Hawaiʻi at the time of the cout d’etat, Hatch was appointed Vice President of the Provisional Government in 1893.

The policy was so strict that the government regularly seized personal computers from foreign businesspersons who were visiting for ordinary business trips, because of the fear that foreign visitors were smuggling PCs to domestic users. As a result of providing courses focusing on inter-disciplinary needs, as well as an emphasis on intellectual property right laws and the American common law system, NCTU Law hosts a more diverse student body than most of the traditional law schools or departments in Taiwan, where the mainstream has been awarding bachelor's degrees in law and accepting only those with an prior law degree into more advanced legal programs. NCTU Law recruits students with a legal educational background, such as those with a first or more advanced law degree, and also students from other academical disciplines, such as literature, science, or engineering. NCTU Law accepts full-time students and part-time students, among which include those in the legal professions such as judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and counsels who seek more advanced study, and those with technical backgrounds including engineers, salespersons, and businesspersons, a lot of them being from corporations from the nearby Hsinchu Science Park, who intend to acquire knowledge of law.
