One of the ironies of the company's existence was its rejection in 1910 of Graham Moffat's Scots Language comedy The Causey Saint which, under the title Bunty Pulls the Strings, went on to become the box office smash hit of London's West End in 1911 and continued to win outstanding success on international tour. Glasgow Repertory folded in the autumn of 1914 with the theatre closures which took effect in Britain in the weeks immediately after the start of World War One; this even though the company, in its final season, had broken even for the first time in financial terms.

During his administration, Feliú, like his predecessors, continued to support the Franciscan missions established at various Native American villages, and tried to revive friendly relations with former indigenous allies that former Florida governor Lucas Fernando Palacios had broken, even granting Christian Native Americans the same rights as the colonists. Following the war between Spain and England, which had revealed the vulnerability of Florida to an English attack, Feliú sought to improve the military readiness of the province. To supplement the ranks of the some 2,000 soldiers that the Florida militia could muster, Feliú invited enslaved peoples in the British and French colonies of North America to escape to Florida and become Spanish citizens in exchange for joining Florida's militia, a stratagem that proved successful. Feliú had the thick forest between Fort Mose and St. Augustine cut down to deprive the Native Americans of cover to launch their raids, saving five thousand suitable logs to use as stakes in constructing fortifications.

While the distributor's cut will vary from film to film, a Hollywood studio will typically collect half the gross in the United States and less in other parts of the world. Marketing often represents a substantial share of the overall cost of the picture too: for a film with an average sized budget the promotion and advertising costs are typically half that of the production budget, and in the case of smaller films it is not unusual for the cost of the marketing to be higher than the production budget. In some cases, a company can make profits from a box office bomb when ancillary revenues are taken into account, such as home media sales and rentals, television broadcast rights, and licensing fees, so a film that loses money at the box office can still eventually break even. There are some films notorious for large production budgets that are commonly thought to be box-office bombs, but have either broken even or turned a profit.
