However, in Major Crimes season 3 he meets a retired nurse named Patrice Perry who can match wits with him while investigating the murder of her granddaughter Keesha's boyfriend and the apparent attempted murder of Keesha. Provenza and Patrice start a relationship after Provenza arrests Keesha for her boyfriend's murder, something that causes her extended family to dislike him but Patrice doesn't hold against Provenza, particularly after hearing Keesha's disturbing confession. The qualifier round results lead to a crowd clash between the two teams, and Jaggi gets injured in the leg while trying to break off the fights. Upset, Jaggi then ignores Simi, breaks it off with his team, and returns to his village, where he eventually reunites with the village Bhangra group, Pendu Club, run by his father. Pendu Club starts making dance videos and enters the competition in London through crowdfunding.

Eventually, she and McManus form an attraction and even have sex inside an empty cell while avoiding the execution of Jefferson Keane. However, when the two receive flak from their fellow staff members over their relationship, particularly by Mike Healy, she breaks it off with McManus, who despite his reputation for bed-hopping and womanizing reacts poorly. Eventually, Whittlesey gets some bad news — Oz has made a contract with the Department of Corrections that, as a condition, will no longer allow officers to work overtime, severely impacting her finances.
