Coming out of the fertile New York rap scene of the early 80s, Whodini was one of the first rap groups to add R&B; twist to their music, thus laying the foundation for a new genre - new jack swing. The group made its name with good-humored songs such as "Magic's Wand" (the first rap song accompanied by a video), "The Haunted House of Rock", "Friends", "Five Minutes Of Funk" and "Freaks Come Out at Night". Live performances of the group were the first rap concerts with the participation of breakdance dancers from the group UTFO. Russell Simmons was the manager of the group in the 80s.
It spawned his final two Top 10 R&B; hits, "I'm Real" and "Static", which peaked at No. 2 and No. 5, respectively, on the R&B; charts. Meanwhile, the drum break from the second version of the original 1969 hit "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" (the recording included on the compilation album In the Jungle Groove) became so popular at hip hop dance parties (especially for breakdance) during the early 1980s that hip hop pioneer Kurtis Blow called the song "the national anthem of hip hop".Liner notes – "Kurtis Blow presents: The History of Rap, Volume I". His first novel, Kid B (2006), is set in the world of Texas hip-hop and was influenced by S. E. Hinton's The Outsiders. The book is narrated in the first-person by the title character "Kid B" whose birth name is Breslin Kirwin. By following two conflicting groups of teen boys, the themes explored by Dalecki are similar to those in The Outsiders (1967), such as brotherly love (or hate as the case may be), friendship, and coming-of-age. But unlike The Outsiders, in the milieu of Kid B the groups are from similar socio-economic backgrounds (the working class) and though there is some gang activity most of the conflict revolves around breakdance competition and other aspects of hip hop.
Due to the show's popularity, the station's producer allowed Nes to expand it to a Monday through Friday, 9pm to midnight show called NightBeat that featured prominent R&B; songs as well as intermixed rap songs. With this space there was room for an eclectic group of identities to form, however none were successful in formulating a Seattle identity.
It depicted the story of two brothers, Alex and Tony, who grew up in the projects having to face everyday life in the ghetto and starting to live on the streets when their parents died. The twist at the end of the song is when the two brothers face each other in a shoot out, one being a top policeman and the other a head of organized crime. They both died in the shoot out, the story being one of the most emotional in the group's work. The album featured a larger number of featured guests such as Puya, July, Freakadadisk, Tragaci, Don Baxter and Eddy Schneider (credited as C.R.Bel, not to be confused with another Romanian artist, member of breakdance group Simplu who used this stage name).

Once Momotaros returns to the DenLiner and is reunited with Ryotaro and Kotaro. Kotaro mentions the Oni Brothers being behind the distortions in their world, just as three Tarōs disappear with Momotaros, finding themselves in 1930, where they hid by possessing the original Arms Monsters of Kamen Rider Kiva and became rice thieves. Rescued by the DenLiner crew, they join the battle on Onigashima where they possess the summoned Kamen Riders G3, Caucasus, Ohja. Like Momotaros, the Tarōs also change the appearance of any person they possess: Urataros dresses them in a suave way (Tsukasa, for example, wears a white tuxedo and top hat under his possession), Kintaros gives them a feudal Japan-era look, and Ryutaros gives an 80s' hip hop style to the person, making him/her able to breakdance.
During this time, they performed at numerous music awards shows and chart shows such as the BRIT Awards and Top of the Pops, also winning the Best Live Act award in 1995 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, having been renowned for their breakdance routines, high energy and creative tour productions. Kermit grew up in Moss Side, Manchester - where he learnt to play violin at the age of 6 - and was briefly a DJ under the name of 'DJ la Freak', whilst doing a psychology degree at Manchester Polytechnic. He joined the breakdance crew Broken Glass, who moved into making records with "Style of the Street" following a meeting with Manchester DJ and producer Greg Wilson. The song was recorded for the Street Sounds Electro UK (Street Sounds, 1984) album, but the label owner Morgan Khan was impressed with their work and persuaded them to record more tunes for the album. In order to give the impression of a thriving British hip hop scene, the songs were recorded under a variety of aliases: in truth, of the seven tracks on the album, only one was not recorded by Broken Glass.

Alongside a busy schedule as a record producer, he became increasingly involved in soundtrack work on Moroder's scores (Midnight Express, American Gigolo and Foxes) and was soon hired as composer in his own right—usually composing, performing and producing the complete score as well as a number of pop songs penned for various artists. Early on he created work for 1984's Thief of Hearts, with electronic scoring and songs for Melissa Manchester, Annabella Lwin, Elizabeth Daily and others. Then came his big break with the landmark hip hop / breakdance-influenced score for Beverly Hills Cop, featuring the worldwide hit, the "Axel F" theme (referred to by Faltermeyer himself as the "banana theme",CreaTVty Ltd, Take 2 TV Partnerships and NBD Television Ltd: Music Behind The Scenes, Episode 4 – Humour as it was originally written for a specific scene where Detroit policeman Axel Foley gives a pair of Beverly Hills police officers the slip by shoving bananas up their exhaust pipe, causing their car to stall when they try and tail him). The year after, the Fletch theme expanded on his trademark electronic soundscapes with experimental phase modulated percussion effects woven into the largely analog synth melodies.
