In February 2020, Bounding Main performed at the International Sailors' Song Festival, "Shanties 2020" in Kraków, Poland. This marked Bounding Main's second appearance at this popular shanty festival. Bounding Main was the recipient of the "Hat of Krakow" award. Additionally, Christie Dalby and Gina Dalby were honored with the "Figurehead 2020" award at this festival.

They will then travel to the Netherlands to perform at the International Folk & Shanty Festival in Giethoorn, Netherlands. This will be the first appearance for Bounding Main at each of these festivals.

The cartoon's theme song, composed by Ted Nichols, is a variation on the children's song "Sailing, Sailing (Over the Bounding Main)" that was written in 1880 by Godfrey Marks, a pseudonym of British organist and composer James Frederick Swift (1847–1931). His poem "The Walloping Window Blind" can be sung to the same tune as Ten Thousand Miles Away, using the same refrain (or with minor changes). It has been variously named "Capital Ship", "Blow, Ye Winds, Heigh-Ho", and "The Walloping Window- Blind". It was called "Capital Ship" by Bounding Main on their 2005 album Lost at Sea. His poems "The Sleepy Giant" and "The Walloping Window Blind" are featured on Natalie Merchant's 2010 concept album Leave Your Sleep.
