Song of Seven was released during Anderson's first hiatus from Yes and supported by his first solo tour. "Some Are Born", "Days", "Everybody Loves You" and "Hear It" were originally written and demoed during the Tormato sessions. The "Some Are Born" and "Days" demo versions from these sessions were included as bonus tracks on the 2004 CD reissue of Tormato, however, the arrangements recorded on Song of Seven draw more on Celtic and R&B; influences.

Manson was born in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale, Illinois, where his father had played for the Chicago Blackhawks. Manson was born days after his father was traded to the Edmonton Oilers, prior to the start of the 1991–92 NHL season. As a result of his father's career, Manson grew up in various cities in both the United States and Canada before his family settled in Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, following his father's retirement. Manson's brother Ben is a defenceman for the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

Kerry's daughter Vanessa and grandson Alexander Kerry was married to Julia Thorne in 1970, and they had two daughters together: documentary filmmaker Alexandra Kerry (born September 5, 1973) and physician Vanessa Kerry (born December 31, 1976). Kerry at the LBJ Presidential Library in 2016 Great Naadam in Mongolia, 2016 Alexandra was born days before Kerry began law school. In 1982, Julia asked Kerry for a separation while she was suffering from severe depression. They were divorced on July 25, 1988, and the marriage was formally annulled in 1997.
