Melsa and her debutante friends hunt for a murderer while eating bonbons, flirting with Ames, and otherwise behaving like silly young women. Ames is also after the murderer, as well as Melsa's hand in marriage. This was the first of three screen pairings for Stanwyck and Fonda, the others being The Lady Eve and You Belong to Me.

The screen would be laid upon the surface of a side table. It doubled as a serving base for elaborate porcelain dishes and glass trays containing fruits, bonbons and sweetmeats, from which the hosts and their guests could help themselves while socialising or stretching their legs between the multiple courses being served on the main table in the dining hall. This screen may have been the work of the German artisan F. Schweikhardt, who specialised in still-life studies in the style of the Dutch painter Jan van Huysum.

In "De Adhemar-Bonbons" ("The Adhemar Pralines") (1990) it is revealed that Pheip resembled Clo-Clo during his youth. In his debut appearance we don't learn his first or last name, but after marrying Madam Pheip everyone refers to him as "Meneer Pheip" ("Mister Pheip"), despite the fact that this is a violation of the law of marriage which insists that a woman takes her husband's name instead of the other way around. His first name is different in many albums: Isidoor,"Beo De Verschrikkelijke", Uitgeverij Het Volk, 1952. Antoine,"De Daverende Pitteleer" ("The Shivering Tailcoat"), Uitgeverij Het Volk, 1959.
Catalogue for Tom Smith's Christmas Novelties from 1911 As interest in his bonbons began to wane Smith had to come up with new ideas to promote sales. His first idea was to include love messages in the wrappers of the sweets in a similar way to that found in fortune cookies. In 1849 Smith replaced the bonbonHistory of the Christmas cracker – Tom Smith & Company website with such items as fans, jewellery and trinkets. In 1860 Smith added the 'snap' element, the myth being that he added this when he heard the crackle of a log on a fire.
Pauline von Metternich (1865) Wiener Bonbons (Vienna Sweets) op. 307 is a waltz by Johann Strauss II written in 1866. It was first performed on 28 January 1866 at the ball of the Association of Industrial Societies held in the Redoutensaal and was dedicated to the influential Princess Pauline Metternich-Winneburg the wife of then Austrian ambassador to Paris. The festivity was meant to raise funds to be donated to the construction of German hospitals in Paris and Strauss' younger brother Josef was initially supposed to be conducting music at the ball without his brother Johann's anticipated presence.
It enjoyed its peak popularity in the early 1970s; in 1972 a Titanes en el Ring music album, featuring the theme songs of the wrestlers, got a large commercial success, and from the same year tapes of the shows started being exported abroad. In 1973 a deal with the Felfort-brand of chocolate bonbons "Jack" also helped to popularize the program and its athletes. In the 1970s the show also did two large tours in Latin America. Two films based on the show were produced: Titanes en el ring, released in 1973, and Titanes en el ring contrataca, released in 1984.
He loses most of his childlike traits too, despite never aging beyond the age of five. In "De Adhemar Bonbons" ("The Adhemar Pralines") (1989) he reveals that he eats pralines that stop his ageing process. In some stories Adhemar returns to his childish state of mind, like "Het Zevende Spuitje" ("The Seventh Syringe") (1963) or "De Wallabieten" ("The Wallabytes") (1968), but most of the times he is the most adult of all the characters. He is a sceptic who will doubt all instances of magic, wizardry or fantastic elements and claim, in his trademark catch phrase: "Het is wetenschappelijk niet verantwoord" ("It's scientifically not possible").
He did not, in the end, become one, but used his experience in the Vatican to write a book on the final years of Pope John Paul II and the process of electing a new pope, Wachten op witte rook: De opvolging van Johannes Paulus II ("Waiting for white smoke: the succession of John Paul II", 2004). Dulmers reported in 2009 on the trial of former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadžić. In 2014, Dulmers went to Syria with Teun Voeten, in hopes of an interview with president Bashar al-Assad. They did not interview Assad but were allowed to visit for coffee (having brought Pierre Marcolini bonbons for Mrs.
This action was widely seen as an escalation of the feud between a faction of conservatives and the GOP leadership. Conservatives had long urged a coup against Boehner, whom they viewed as too eager to make deals with Democrats. On January 29, 2019, Meadows told newly seated representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that lawmakers need more than three days' notice to attend questioning because they are busy and not just "sitting around eating bonbons." The pair became confrontational during the first meeting of the Oversight and Reform Committee since Democrats took control of the House, the first time he and she appeared at a meeting together.
In "De Adhemar Bonbons" ("The Adhemar Pralines") (1989) Tuizentfloot is transformed into a baby, so we get an idea what he looked like at that age. In "Daris Doet Het" ("Daris Does It") (1978)"Daris Doet Het", Standaard Uitgeverij, 1978, strip 6. it is revealed that his mother hailed from IJmuiden and his father from Springintveld (a non-existing place which is a pun on the Dutch term "spring-in-'t-veld", used for enthusiastic people.) This would make Tuizentfloot partially of Dutch descent. He also has a sister, Dina, who is a radical feminist and also wears a pirate hat on her head.
Cordy recorded her first songs in 1952 ("Les Trois Bandits de Napoli", "Quand c'est aux autos de passer", "La bourrée d'Auvergne montagnarde") and made her debut in the musical, "La Route fleurie", alongside Georges Guétary and Bourvil. This lasted until 1955. Then she made her film debut in 1953 when she appeared as herself in Boum sur Paris, next to Jacques Pills and Armand Bernard. That same year, she had her first hit record with "Bonbons, caramels, esquimaux, chocolats" or "Léon". In 1954 she starred in April Fools' Day as Charlotte Dupuy, alongside her friend Bourvil, Louis de Funès, Denise Grey, and Maurice Biraud.
Edward created the 1960s inspired robot Metal Mickey. Voiced by Edwards with a catchphrase of "boogie, boogie, boogie", his favourite treat was Atomic Thunderbusters, which had the appearance of lemon bonbons. First shown on the Southern Television produced The Saturday Banana in 1978, friend and former The Monkees drummer Micky Dolenz picked up the rights to produce and then direct the first episodes of The Metal Mickey TV Show. Set in a family-home environment with the grandmother played by Irene Handl, the show had a peak ITV Saturday teatime viewing figure of 12 million people, and ran for three series from 1980 to 1983.
On 4 December, he returned to Carnegie Hall in New York City and gave inspired performances before enthusiastic fans. By then, several English recordings of his songs were on the charts, including Damita Jo's "If You Go Away" (based on "Ne me quitte pas"), Judy Collins' "The Dove" (based on "La Colombe"), and Glenn Yarbrough's "The Women" (based on "Les Biches"). In January 1967, Brel finished recording songs for a new studio album, Jacques Brel 67, which was released later in the year. The album included "Mon Enfance" (My childhood), "Fils de..." (Sons of...), "Les bonbons 67" (The candies 67), and "La Chanson des vieux amants" (Song of the old lovers).
Honeydukes is a popular sweets shop located in Hogsmeade that is usually crowded with Hogwarts students and occasionally even the professors of Hogwarts. The shop is filled with many different kinds of wonderful and wild sweets, such as Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans, Cauldron Cakes, Blood- Flavoured Lollipops, Acid Pops, Droobles Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Wands, Exploding Bonbons, Skeletal Sweets, and so much more. There is also a secret passageway in the cellar of Honeydukes that leads to the third floor corridor of Hogwarts, behind the large stone statue of Gunhilda of Gorsemoor. Harry used this entrance to sneak into Hogsmeade in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
In the late 1972, Dalida recorded duet "Paroles... paroles..." with her longtime friend Alain Delon who she picked on her own. Lyrics tell a story of a man offering a woman "caramels, bonbons et chocolat" and repeats "que tu es belle" (how beautiful are you), to what she answers with "paroles, paroles" (words, words) indicating that his words are nothing but hollow. The single released on 17 January with B side "Pour ne pas vivre seul", topped charts in France, Japan, Mexico and Portugal, and had a fair performance is several other countries. Receiving a triple gold certification, it also spawned a dozen of international covers, inspiring foreign singers to record it in their native languages.
The ground floor featured merchandise like stationery (and many pocket books), perfume and suitcases and a patisserie with its own bakery (all self-service, except for the bonbons, which had to be weighed). The souterrain housed a 2600 m2 supermarket, with 7000 items on sale and an assortment ranging from Russian caviar to 70 types of cheese. Extra efficiency was achieved at the seven checkout counters by using two trolleys (and no conveyor belt). A cashier would move the items from one trolley to the other and the customer could then take that to one of the 53 'packaging tables' (with assistance for those who desired it), thus reducing waiting time at the counter.
Brel himself occasionally included parts of his songs in Dutch, one of the three official languages of Belgium, as in "Marieke". He also recorded eight other Dutch versions of songs, such as "Mijn vlakke land" ("Le plat pays"), "Laat me niet alleen" ("Ne me quitte pas"), "Rosa", "De Burgerij" ("Les Bourgeois"), and "De Nuttelozen van de Nacht" ("Les paumés du petit matin"). Brel also recorded two obscure singles in Dutch, "De apen" ("Les Singes") and "Men vergeet niets" ("On n'oublie rien"), which were included in the 16-CD box set Boîte à Bonbons by Barclay. So far unreleased is the song "Als men niets dan liefde heeft" ("Quand on n’a que l’amour").
Frits's business grew to be very successful, and he was later joined by his second eldest son, Ad, in 1978. The youngest of Frits' seven sons, Ton, felt that America would appreciate his father's chocolate as much as Netherlanders did, and decided to bring fine chocolate to the U.S. The tradition of making fine Dutch chocolate continues in America at Chocolaterie Stam's corporate store, where our production facility is located. Here, Ton's nephew (Ad's youngest child), Erik, shares his love, passion and skill for making exquisite bonbons and fine confections. In 2006, Chocolate Stam USA embarked on its initial expansion effort in the United States, bringing Chocolaterie Stam to Ames, Iowa, followed by a store in Rochester, MN, in 2008.
Blank became a professor emeritus at VCU and was listed in the New Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians. In 1985 he received a commission from the New York State Council on the Arts' Presenting Organization to compose "Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet" for the Roxbury Chamber Players. Other awards mentioned in his University of Akron Bierce Library Archives composer profile are: First Prize in the George Eastman Competition (1985) sponsored by the Eastman School of Music for his Duo for Bassoon & Piano, and a grant (1985) from the National Endowment for the Arts to support his one-act opera, The Magic Bonbons. The Virginia Shakespeare Festival at Williamsburg commissioned Blank to write music for their production of Measure For Measure.
Pralines from Belgium are also known as "(soft-center) Belgian chocolates", "Belgian chocolate fondants" and "chocolate bonbons" in English- speaking countries — cases of chocolate (if from Belgium usually a quality, branded lower-melting point Belgian chocolate) filled with a soft centre. They were first introduced by Jean Neuhaus II, a Belgian chocolatier, in 1912. There have always been many types and shapes: nearly always containing a chocolate shell with a softer filling. Confusion can arise over the use of the word praline in Belgium as it may refer to filled chocolates in general known as pralines and it may also refer to a traditional praline filling common in Europe (caramelised hazelnuts (noisettes) or almonds (amandes) ground into a paste, sometimes with whey powder, condensed milk or cream) described as praliné .
They have produced real versions of Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans odd flavours in and out of the market since 2001. Apart from some "regular" flavours, the company also produces several "unusual" flavours mentioned in the books. Other flavours include bacon, dirt, earthworm, earwax, vomit, rotten egg, sausage, pickle, toast, grass and soap. A description of Honeydukes in the third book says that the store sells candies called Coconut Ice, Ice Mice (which make your teeth chatter and squeak), Fizzing Whizbees, Pepper Imps (which allow you to breathe fire on your friends), Sugar Quills, Cockroach Clusters, self-flossing mints, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum (which make a room fill up with bluebell-coloured bubbles which wouldn't pop for days), Peppermint Creams shaped like toads (which hop in your stomach), Exploding Bonbons, Jelly Slugs, Acid Pops, and blood-flavoured lollipops.
Margaret "Peg/Peggy" Wanker Bundy (Katey Sagal) is Al's lazy, self-indulgent wife. She refuses to work, cook or clean the house (although Peg occasionally displays an ability for domestic aptitude.) She cites her laziness as family tradition, getting upset with Kelly when she gets a job. She claims that Wanker women never work, and in old pioneer days, "Wanker women were getting their hair done while Wanker men got theirs scalped." During the day, she likes to watch daytime talk shows, sit on the living room couch, and eat copious amounts of ice-cream BonBons (without ever gaining weight). Peg is a redhead (brunette in the first two seasons) with a bouffant hairdo and she usually wears combinations of modern-day 1980/1990s and dated 1960s-styled fashions with skin tight Spandex pants and shirts, and stiletto heels, which make her walk in a unique way.
The Théâtre des Variétés and the Panoramas (1829) The Passage des Panoramas, opened at the very end of the 18th century, was a model for the new Parisian covered shopping street, where shoppers did not have to contend with the rain, lack of sidewalks, or traffic on the narrow streets. At the entrance of the Passage on boulevard Montmartre was a café called Véron, next to a candy shop called A la duchesse de Courtlande which sold not only bonbons but also fresh peaches, cherries and grapes, even in winter. Next door was a paper shop, Susse, with business cards and fine writing paper; then the shop of a famous modiste, Mademoiselle Lapostolle, whose speciality was straw hats. There were pastry shops, chocolate shops, shops selling coffee and tea, music, counters for changing foreign currency, and many other speciality shops, and the panoramas themselves, large-scale realistic paintings of Paris, Toulon, Amsterdam, Naples, and other cities, to be viewed for a small price.
Woburn Abbey in Bedford, England possesses a fine example of the table deckers' craft in the form of an ornate folding room screen with three panels, decorated with sand pictures protected by glass. The centre one has five spaces for sweetmeat pyramid dishes while the two side leaves of the screen have three spaces for fruit trays. There are four sand pictures in each corner of the side panels of the screen, featuring 18th-century pastoral scenes, while the remaining areas of the screen are decorated with butterflies, doves, fruit, flowers, etc. The screen would be laid upon the surface of a side table where it doubled as a serving base for elaborate porcelain dishes and glass trays containing fruits, bonbons and sweetmeats, from which the hosts and their guests could help themselves while socializing or stretching their legs between the multiple courses being served on the main table in the dining hall.
In 1963, the production of the chocolate figures, bonbons, Christmas candies (szaloncukor), jellies, chewing gums, drops and rusks was suspended but in return, the factory got the right from other factories to produce gingerbread, wafers and babapiskóta (a kind of sweet sponge-cake). In 1968, after the factory was enlarged by another division, the production of baking powder, vanilla-sugar, custard-powder and tea-flavourings could start. In 1976 due to a licence contract with the Dr. Oetker, the supply was broadened again. Moreover, in 1980 the Győri Keksz received the licence of the Negro (A kind of candy known as the ‘chimney-sweep of the throat.’ Its original flavour was anise-menthol but today it is produced in various flavours; for instance, honey, eucalyptus and cherry- menthol.) After forming a joint venture with the HAAS Company (Linz, Austria), the factory (under the name Hungarocandy Kft.) started the production of the PEZ candies (a kind of pressed candy).
