"The Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Beetle aren't exactly earth-shatteringly cool names, but they are two of the most successful models in automotive history," says Karl Brauer, analyst with Kelley Blue Book.

With the average new-car price at more than $33,000 in May, according to the latest data from Kelley Blue Book, only the Washington, D.C., metro area's nearly $100,103 median income could qualify.
"Volkswagen, because the cheating was so clear with them, sort of because the poster child for misbehavior when it comes to diesel emissions," said Karl Brauer, a senior editor at Kelley Blue Book.

Kelley Blue Book&aposs predictions for 2020 and beyond are out, with the organization announcing the 2020 model-year vehicles it projects will retain the most value after five years of ownership on Tuesday.
Kelley Blue Book predicts that drivers who buy a 2020 Toyota Tacoma — the site&aposs top pick for resale value — will be able to sell it for 61% of its MSRP in five years.

"The success of the Jeep brand under Mike Manley and his global background make him the smart choice to be the new head of FCA," said Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book.
"With new-car demand stabilizing in recent months, we're left with a market that is far more dependent on sales days within a given month," said Kelley Blue Book senior analyst Karl Brauer in a statement.
Tesla "is now reaching the point where it is going to have to jump off the pier and swim with the sharks," said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book.

"The foundation of Ford — the trucks — is still healthy, but there are concerns about whether Ford has prepared for tomorrow and the future," said Karl Brauer, executive publisher of the auto information providers Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book.
