Barnwell East is a 2.6 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Cambridge. It is owned and managed by Cambridge City Council. The site has woodland, a pond, scrub and grassland. However, Capricorns anchor was ready to be let go. The anchor became embedded in the Blackthorns hull and ripped open the port side above the water line. Then as the two ships backed away from each other, the chain became taut. The force of the much larger ship pulling on it, caused Blackthorn to tip on her side until she suddenly capsized.

Unable to make radio contact with Blackthorn, Capricorns pilot blew two short whistle blasts to have the ships pass starboard-to-starboard. With the Blackthorn's officer of the deck (Ensign Ryan) confused in regard to the standard operating procedure and rules of navigation, Blackthorns captain issued orders for evasive action. Despite the Blackthorn's evasive action, a collision occurred. Damage to the Blackthorn from the initial impact was not extensive.

This causes Mark to reject going back to the Wild Hunt and accept being a Shadowhunter. Eventually, the Blackthorns research their family history and find out that "Lady Midnight" is based on the story of Annabel Blackthorn, a Shadowhunter who fell in love with a warlock. Emma calls Rook, the latter admitting that he worked with the Guardian to trick the Lottery winners. By piecing together the clues, she realizes that Malcolm is the Guardian.

Sheehan plays his club hurling and football with the Éire Óg club and has enjoyed much success. After impressing in various juvenile grades he first came to promise as a dual player in the minor grades. In 2006 he won a county minor 'A' championship with the club's footballers following a victory over Blackthorns of Mitchelstown. Two years later Sheehan added a county minor 'A' championship hurling medal to his collection after defeating Erin's Own in the final.

Buckley played hurling with his local club Glen Rovers, as well as playing football with the Glen’s sister club, St. Nick’s. He first came to prominence as a dual player at minor level in the seventies. In 1976 Buckley was a dual county minor championship medalist as Carrigview and Blackthorns were accounted for in the finals. Buckley subsequently joined the club's senior teams, however, he soon gave up football to concentrate on his hurling. It was a lean period for Glen Rovers with the club losing county championship deciders in 1980, 1981 and 1988.

Diego is a Centurion—graduates of Scholomanche—and claims that he was sent to investigate the Guardian's ritual, whose goal is to resurrect someone. Back home, the Blackthorns connect the ritual to an old Shadowhunter folktale, "Lady Midnight". In the story, a woman was killed by her parents and her lover made a deal with the Faerie king to conduct a ritual which required Blackthorn blood and the Black Volume of the Dead.

As the group leave with an amnesiac Kieran, they are pursued by the Unseelie faeries until a Seelie faerie, Nene, arrives at the last second to take them to the Seelie Queen. Nene is revealed to be Mark's aunt, sister of his mother, Nerissa. Back in Los Angeles, Kit, Ty, and Livvy spy on Zara, who wants to take over the Institute and plans to destroy all Downworlders. When they return, they see the Blackthorns' uncle, Arthur, rambling incoherently, and are told about his condition by Diana Wrayburn.

Blackthorns Community Primary Academy was named as one of the top 20 primary schools in England in Key Stage 2 in reading, writing and maths in April 2018. In June 2018 the trust secured £298,650 from the National College for Teaching and Leadership, for a project for the youngest disadvantaged children in Hastings primary schools. The trust has a policy of issuing toilet passes to avoid the abuse of toilet breaks during lesson time. In September 2018 an 11-year-old girl, who was experiencing her first menstrual bleed was not allowed to use the toilet and sent home with bloody knickers, tights and shorts from Hastings Academy.

There are areas of thick vegetation in which, in addition to gall oaks, there are maples, hawthorns, blackthorns and blackberry bushes, followed by areas of more scattered woodland with large clearings in some places, in which heather, badassi and juniper grow. The Artetxo sitting area contains a number of outstanding examples of mature gall oaks with a curious candelabra-like shape, a consequence of pruning done over a number of years for firewood. On the ridges you can find beech, holly and rowan and along the edges of the small streams that flow through the park, maple, hazel and ash are very common. The different environments that exist in the park are home to a rich and varied fauna including wild boars, squirrels, birds of prey and even about 30 species of small birds such as goldfinches, chaffinches, robins and great tits.
