Bird-Brain is one of a number of "Ani-Mates", creatures created by an insane geneticist named the Ani-Mator, combining the characteristics of human beings and other animals. The Ani-Mator subjected his creations to a number of cruel and deadly experiments, but Bird- Brain escapes the Ani-Mator's island and befriends the New Mutants. They try to acclimate him to regular society, which fails miserably time and again, mainly because Bird-Brain would eat all the food he saw.New Mutants #57 For the most part, Bird-Brain is unable to communicate with the New Mutants, despite the language powers of the New Mutant Cypher, because of how simplistic Bird-Brain's language is.

As horns are blown "for the hunt", the bird flies to the palace (from the grave of his wife), as the king and his dog arrive for the hunt; the king removes his crown and ruler and replaces them with a hunting rifle and hat, as the chief of police (the only one with a goatee) pushes a bird out of a box-cage revealed to be one of L'Oiseau's four children. The king starts shooting and missing to the applause of his sycophantic supporters, just as the bird swoops in and rescues his son; he denounces the king to be a murderer and an awful thug. The king retorts by calling him bird-brain, but the bird retorts back that the king is the bird-brain. L’Oiseau and his son escape as the police attempt to shoot them down.

Marvel Comics. When Bird-Brain sets out to free the other mutants who are enslaved by the Ani-Mator, a geneticist working for Cameron Hodge, the New Mutants follow him. Though the Ani-Mator is defeated, he fatally shoots Doug, who takes a bullet intended for Rahne. Magneto, leader of the New Mutants at the time, explains Doug's death to his parents as a 'hunting accident'.

Condor is a winged criminal scientist and is a member of the Bird-People, an offshoot of the Inhumans that adopted Red Raven. He was a member of the Terrible Trio, along with Diamondhead and Powerhouse,Nova Vol 1 #6-8, #10 and an enemy of Nova and the Champions of Xandar. During a battle with the Sphinx, he was transformed into an actual condor.Nova Vol 1 #10 Condor spent several years in the form of an animal until he landed on the island of Bird-Brain and the Ani-Mates.

Jennifer Monson began choreographing in 1983, after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in Vermont. In 2000, she began to dive into dance in relationship to the environment almost exclusively, and by 2005, she had created iLAND. Four of her projects, "BIRD BRAIN", "iMAP/Ridgewood Reservoir", "The Mahomet Aquifer Project", and "SIP/Watershed", were crucial in her career of altering the role that dance plays in people's understanding on the environment. In trying to solve the simple problems of various little kids he encounters (such as, say, a lost pencil or a missing sock), Captain Flamingo often gets into tight spots. He has, in various episodes, gotten trapped in a bubble with a full bladder, gone underwater to battle an eel, and has gotten trapped in a deadly matrix of bouncing superballs. Despite this, he never gives up and meets every failure or setback with a new attempt. He eventually gets out of these situations by using his "Bird Brain"; this can be his own instincts, but it usually is Lizbeth.

A random thought he speaks aloud might be picked up on by Lizbeth and elaborated into an actual, detailed plan (which Lizbeth will assume was what Captain Flamingo planned to do all along), or he can assume that a suggestion spoken aloud by Lizbeth is his "Bird Brain" speaking to him (although he usually misinterprets her suggestion; however, his misinterpretation usually works). In the end, Captain Flamingo always seems to stumble upon a solution either through Lizbeth's cleverness, persistent refusal to give up and constantly trying new novelty items and plans until he succeeds, or sheer luck (or, quite often, some combination of the three).

In an Indiegogo update dated June 22, 2017, the band finally announced that principal photography was wrapped and post-production work was near completion. Throughout June and July 2017, the Chicken Heads released three promotional music videos edited together from footage from the three segments of the pilot: "The Sky is Falling", "Pox" and "Bird Brain". On October 14, 2017, The Radioactive Chicken Heads Show received its world premiere as part of the OC Film Fiesta film festival in the Chicken Heads' hometown of Santa Ana, California, where several of the members appeared following the screening to host an in-character Q&A; and perform a brief acoustic set. The next week, the pilot was screened as part of the Planet 9 Film Festival at the California Institute of Abnormalarts in North Hollywood, where it was also accompanied by an acoustic set by the Chicken Heads.
