In colloquial use, carp usually refers only to several larger cyprinid species such as Cyprinus carpio (common carp), Carassius carassius (Crucian carp), Ctenopharyngodon idella (grass carp), Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (silver carp), and Hypophthalmichthys nobilis (bighead carp).

In 2012, McGee was focusing on Free-To-Play games for mobile devices with BigHead Bash, Akaneiro, and Crazy Fairies. In 2013, he opened a Kickstarter for a new game, American McGee's OZombie, however due to slow/lackluster funding the project was canceled. Another Kickstarter for a project called Alice: Otherlands, a planned series of short films leading to a theatrical film, was announced a few days later. This reached its goal on August 4, 2013, and was officially confirmed.
Rocko usually works at "Kind of a Lot o' Comics" (but once worked at Conglom-O where Ed Bighead attempted to make him quit) and his hobbies include recreational jackhammering and pining for the love of his life, Melba Toast. Due to Rocko's benevolence and non- confrontational personality, his kindness is often taken for weakness. He is often taken advantage of by the other characters. Rocko would prefer to live a quiet life, but his reckless friends often throw him into turbulent situations.

The farming of aquatic organisms, known as aquaculture, often involves fish feed that contains mercury. A study by Jardine has found no reliable connection between mercury in fish food affecting aquaculture organisms or aquatic organisms in the wild. Even so, mercury from other sources may affect organisms grown through aquaculture. In China, farmed fish species, such as bighead carp, mud carp, and Siniperca chuatsi, carried 90% of total mercury content in all of the measured fish in a study by Cheng.
Otacity Ostenaco (, or "Bighead"; –1780) in the thickly-settled Cherokee township of Tellico. It has been conjectured that he was born into the Ani- waya(Wolf) clan, the one associated in particular with bearing numerous warriors. By his thirties, he had assumed the warrior rank of Utsidihi (Mankiller), and the title of the Tassite of Great Tellico. He then rose to assume the higher Cherokee rank of Cherokee chief warrior or skiagusta, orator, and leading figure in diplomacy with British colonial authorities.
The bighead catshark (Apristurus bucephalus) is a species of fish in the family Scyliorhinidae endemic to Australia. Its natural habitat is the open seas. It belongs to a genus of poorly known deep-water catsharks, and is recorded from only three specimens taken off Perth, Western Australia. This species could be rare or uncommon, and the effects of fisheries are unknown, though if its biology is like other deep-water shark species, it may not be sufficiently fecund to withstand exploitation pressures.
The first specimens of the bighead spurdog were collected during South Pacific biodiversity surveys conducted by the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD). The species was described by Peter Last, Bernard Séret, and John Pogonoski in a 2007 Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) publication. The specific name bucephalus is derived from the Latin bu ("large") and the Greek kephalis ("of the head"). Of the four original specimens, a long immature male caught over Norfolk Ridge was selected as the holotype.
Meaford Fire Hall In 1837, when this area was part of the St. Vincent Township, locals asked the government for a piece of land at the mouth of the Bighead River. The first settler was from Ireland, before the townsite was laid out by Charles Rankin in 1845 and called Meaford. By then, a sawmill and gristmill were already operating nearby; the post office there was called St. Vincent. Meaford saw little growth until 1850 but then began booming; it had a library by 1856.
Different species feed on different foods and occupy different niches in the ponds. In this way, the Chinese were able to simultaneously breed four different species of carp, the mud carp, which are bottom feeders, silver carp and bighead carp, which are midwater feeders, and grass carp which are top feeders.FAO (1983) Freshwater aquaculture development in China Page 19, Fisheries technical paper 215, Rome. . Another development during the Tang dynasty was a fortunate genetic mutation of the domesticated carp, which led to the development of goldfish.

Hypophthalmichthys is a genus of large cyprinid fish consisting of three species. The name comes from Greek ὑπό, (hypó) "below"; ὀφθαλμός (ophthalmós), "eye"; ἰχθῦς (ichthŷs), "fish", thus "fish with eyes below", referring to the fact that the fish has its eyes below the mouth line. Members of this genus are native to fresh water in East Asia, ranging from Siberia to Vietnam, but have been widely introduced outside their native range, where often considered invasive. They are also known as bighead carp, though that term is also locally used for individual species, particularly Hypophthalmichthys nobilis.
The net and its catch is then hauled out of the largest hole by means of a capstan (see also Whim (mining)) turned by Mongolian horses. The Lake set a Guinness World Record of a single net that yielded of fish in 2006, and broke its own record with of fish in 2009. The principal species thus netted is the Bighead carp - a popular food fish, particularly at the Chinese New Year, when the consumption of fish is considered to bring good fortune in the year to come.
Rocko's Modern Life follows the life of an easily frightened Australian immigrant wallaby named Rocko (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui), who encounters various dilemmas and situations regarding otherwise mundane aspects of life. His best friends are: Heffer Wolfe (Tom Kenny), a fat and enthusiastic steer; Filburt (Mr. Lawrence), a neurotic turtle who often feels awkward or disturbed; and his faithful dog Spunky (Alazraqui). Living next door to Rocko is a middle-aged couple, Ed Bighead (Charlie Adler), a cynical and cantankerous toad who despises Rocko; and his compassionate and more friendly wife Bev (Adler).
It is one of several lakes known collectively as the heated Konin Lakes because the water temperature is raised as a result of the outflow received from two power stations. Pątnowskie Lake receives the outflow throughout the year and has a thriving population of fish including common bream, carp, common roach, tench, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp and zander. It is popular with anglers. With its large area and open shoreline, the lake is used recreationally for sailing and windsurfing and, being permanently free of ice, a winter regatta is held here.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, "reported injuries include cuts from fins, black eyes, broken bones, back injuries, and concussions". Injurious Wildlife Species; Silver Carp and Largescale Silver Carp, Federal Register: July 10, 2007 (Volume 72, Number 131) This behavior has sometimes been attributed to the very similar bighead carp, but these do not normally jump when frightened. In the late 19th century, the common carp was distributed widely throughout the United States by the United States Fish Commission as a foodfish. In the 1970s, fish farmers in mostly southern states began importing Asian carp from China to help clean their commercial ponds. The Carp Must Die in BusinessWeek, February 16, 2012Great Lakes states sue to stop Asian carp invasion in The Capital Times, 13 January 2010. The rise in the populations of bighead and silver carp has been dramatic where they are established in the Mississippi River basin.
No silver carp or black carp have yet been found in any of the Great Lakes. Common carp are abundant throughout the Great Lakes. A few bighead and grass carp have been captured in Canada's portions of the Great Lakes, but no Asian carp (other than common carp) is known to be established in Canada at this time. Concerns exist that the silver carp may spread into Cypress Hills in Alberta and Saskatchewan through Battle Creek (Milk River), the Frenchman River, and other rivers flowing south out of the hills into the Milk River.
Cottocomephoridae, or the bighead sculpins or Baikal sculpins, are a family of scorpaeniform fishes mostly endemic to Russia (one species ranges into Mongolia) where they are mostly found in Lake Baikal and surrounding lakes and rivers. The Catalog of Fishes does not recognize Cottocomephoridae as a separate family, but includes its members in the Cottidae.WN Eschmeyer, JD Fong (2015) Species by family/subfamily in the Catalog of Fishes California Academy of Sciences (15 Feb 2015) Members of Cottocomephoridae form a major part of the diet of the Baikal seal, especially in the autumn.
Accredited Fish Farm Scheme Logo The commercially important marine species are bigeye, golden thread, croaker, horse-head and pomfret. The total capture fisheries and marine fish culture production is equivalent to about 31% of seafood consumed in Hong Kong, while pond fish farmers produce about 6% of the freshwater fish eaten. The majority of fish farms in New Territories are engaged in carp polyculture (bighead carp, silver carp, common carp and grass carp) in combination with tilapia or grey mullet as the major species. Other cultured species include seabreams and spotted scat.

The rise in the populations of bighead and silver carp has been dramatic where they are established in the Mississippi River basin. Although many sources cite the record floods of the 1990s as the means by which Asian carp escaped aquaculture ponds into the Mississippi River, this is apocryphal.
Conner et al. 1980. Larval evidence for natural reproduction of the grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella in the lower Mississippi River. Fourth Annual Larval Fish Conference, Oxford, MO. Because of their prominence, and because they were imported to the United States much later than other carp native to Asia, the term "Asian carp" is often used with the intended meaning of only grass, black, silver, and bighead carp. Of the Asian carp introduced to the United States, only two (crucian and black carp) are not known to be firmly established.
2005/001 , retrieved on July 15, 2007 A few bighead and grass carp have been captured in Canada's portions of the Great Lakes. As of 2019, the Asian carp is known to be established in Canada at this time. There are concerns the silver carp may spread into the Cypress Hills of Alberta and Saskatchewan through Battle Creek, the Frenchman River and other rivers flowing south out of the hills into the Milk River. The Milk River is a tributary of the Missouri River, where populations of Asian carp are well established.
Illinois has issued advisories regarding eating fish from the river due to PCB and mercury contamination, including a "do not eat" advisory for carp more than 12 inches long. There are concerns that silver carp and bighead carp, now invasive species in the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, may reach the Great Lakes through the Chicago River. Despite the pollution concerns, the Chicago River remains a very popular target for freshwater recreational fishing. In 2006, the Chicago Park District started the annual "Mayor Daley's Chicago River Fishing Festival", which has increased in popularity with each year.
In the "Wacky Delly" episode of Rocko's Modern Life, the holler is heard at the end of the haphazardly made cartoon created by Rocko, Heffer Wolfe, and Filburt for Ralph Bighead. A version of the holler is used in a cutaway in the "Dial Meg for Murder" episode of Family Guy when Goofy is cast into Hell for causing 9/11. The term "Goofy Holler" was first created by a user of the Internet Movie Database and originated on the trivia page for A Goofy Movie. It is now generally considered the name for the sound effect.
Trouts are developed mainly in the southeast, southwest and north, while carps are primary found in the center and north. Marine finfish culture is dominated by species including rainbow trout, european bass, gilt-head bream, common carp, silver carp, bighead carp, grass carp and ohrid trout. Mussels are widespread throughout the south of the country and particularly cultivated in Lake Butrint along the proximity to the Ionian Sea. In 1980, almost 80 mussel cultivation facilities were constructed with an average production of about 2,000 tonnes per year, while in 1989 it increased to 5,000 tonnes per year.
Since 2003, however, several adult, fertile black carp have been captured from the Atchafalaya and other rivers connected to the Mississippi River. Dr. Leo Nico, in the book Black carp: Biological Synopsis and Risk Assessment of an Introduced Fish, reports that black carp are probably established in the United States. In South Florida, the local water management district actually stocks the canals with sterilized grass carp to control the hydrilla plant, which tends to block the locks and drainage valves used to control water flow from the Everglades. Bighead and silver carp feed by filtering plankton from the water.
Chatsworth is a township in south-western Ontario, Canada, in Grey County, located at the headwaters of the Styx River, the Saugeen River, the Sauble River, the Bighead River, the Spey River, and the old Sydenham River. The current township was formed in late year 2000 with the amalgamation of Holland Township, Sullivan Township, and the village of Chatsworth. The first white settlers arrived in this area in the early 19th century and a significant amount of settlement was underway in mid-to-late 1800s. Canadian suffragette and activist Nellie McClung was born in the town of Chatsworth.
An active fishery exists on the lake. Until the early 1970s, two cyprinid species, Schizothorax biddulphi and Aspiorhynchus laticeps, the latter of which is endemic to Bosten Lake and the Yarkand River, were responsible for 80 percent of the annual catch.K. F. Walker and H.Z. Yang, Fish and Fisheries in Western China, in Fish and Fisheries at Higher Altitudes: Asia (FAO Fisheries Technical Paper), December 1999 During the years 1962 to 1965, various carp species (bighead, black, silver, grass, common, and crucian carp) were introduced into the lake. In the 1970s, these species become major targets of the fishing activities.
Muir left school and travelled to the same region in 1864, and spent the spring, summer, and fall exploring the woods and swamps, and collecting plants around the southern reaches of Lake Huron's Georgian Bay. Muir hiked along the Niagara Escarpment, including much of today's Bruce Trail. With his money running low and winter coming, he reunited with his brother Daniel near Meaford, Ontario, who persuaded him to work with him at the sawmill and rake factory of William Trout and Charles Jay. Muir lived with the Trout family in an area called Trout Hollow, south of Meaford, on the Bighead River.
The project had three singles: "Cry Alone", "Runaway" and a remix of the song "Life", which was renamed "Life Is Beautiful". Peep's second posthumous project, Everybody's Everything, released on November 15, 2019, the second anniversary of Peep's death. This album was also the official soundtrack to an accompanying documentary of the same name about the late Lil Peep's life. The album contained singles from regular collaborator, producer and friend BigHead with records included a formal re- release of their hit "Witchblades" and an official release of the highly anticipated "Liar" and "Aquafina" record featuring Rich The Kid.
Yunnanilus discoloris has a very restricted range, the single spring in which it occurs contains introduced species and the spring has been modified by man. The spring is not protected and the IUCN assess the status of this species as Critically Endangered. There may be 500 individuals in the White Dragon Spring. It formerly occurred in Lake Dianchi but its extirpation from there is thought to have been the result of the introduction of black carp, grass carp, silver carp and bighead carp into the lake, as well as pollution and the resultant loss of macrophytes.
Ponticola gorlap, or the Caspian bighead goby, is a species of goby, a benthic fish native to the Caspian Sea basin. It is widespread in lower parts of many rivers in Iran, and also found in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.Brian W. Coad Freshwater Fishes of Iran (accessed 18 Feb 2015) In Russia, it occurred in the lowest part of the Volga River up to Astrakhan until 1977, but has thereafter spread upstream. In 2000 it was recorded as being established in the Ivankovo and Rybinsk Reservoirs in the Moscow region, and already invaded the Don drainage by way of the Volga-Don Canal in 1972.
Years later, in a flash-forward, a wild-haired, long-bearded Ralph finally created his masterpiece, the world's largest still life created out of rock; however, it only ended up reminding people about Wacky Delly, much to his horror. By the time of Static Cling, the character has come out as transgender; still living in the desert, Ralph becomes Rachel Bighead and begins living as a woman. At first Ed was resistant to the change, but he finally accepted it when she made a television special based on her childhood memories. Creator Joe Murray provides the voice of the character in both the Ralph and Rachel incarnations.
Heroes Con 20. Brown's most popular works - Clumsy (2002; the story of a long-distance relationship), Unlikely (the story of how Brown lost his virginity), and AEIOU (Any Easy Intimacy (Over Us)) - comprise the so-called "Girlfriend Trilogy" and its epilogue, Every Girl is the End of the World For Me. More recently, his autobiographical work has included Little Things, and the memoirs Funny Misshapen Body and A Matter Of Life. His humorous works include Bighead (a super-hero parody), I Am Going To Be Small, Cat Getting Out Of A Bag, Kids Are Weird, and the graphic novel series Incredible Change-Bots. His work has been featured in MOME Summer 2005, Vol.
The series' announcement revealed that Oswalt was set to voice M.O.D.O.K. In January 2020, Craig Erwich, Hulu's Senior Vice President of Originals, revealed that "a few episodes of" the series had completed recording, which was followed shortly by the announcement of Aimee Garcia, Ben Schwartz, Melissa Fumero, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly, and Sam Richardson as the series' cast. By that October, Oswalt confirmed that writing and audio recording for the series had concluded, under the working title Bighead. Oswalt stated that Marvel allowed him and the creative team to include a variety of popular and relatively unknown characters in the series, which include several superheroes and members of X-Men-related teams.
The film, in two parts, begins in 1876 when the Terry-Gibbon column relieves the remnants of the 7th Cavalry that had survived the Battle of the Little Bighorn. They discover Custer's Squadron has been annihilated, and the film 'flashes back' and tells Custer's story from the point of view/narrative of his wife, Elizabeth, beginning with the Kansas campaign of the mid-1860s. Concurrently, the Indian perspective is told through the narrative of Kate Bighead, a young Cheyenne woman, who encountered Custer on several occasions. Kate Bighead's narrative is also used to describe events like the Fetterman Massacre and the Battle of Washita River, as is Elizabeth Custer's, to provide a balanced point of view.
He joined the teaching staff of the Anaheim Union High School District in 1957, teaching and coaching at Western and Magnolia where he was also known to always be carrying a clipboard as his character "Little Boy" did in the 1951 movie Jim Thorpe – All-American. He joined the Katella faculty when it opened in 1966 and coached track and taught health before retiring in 1987. After retiring from teaching at Katella high School, the school name an annual track and field event in his honor. He was married to Joan Bighead, and they had two kids (Jacqueline, and Diane), three grandchildren (Casey, Jackson, and Tanner), and three great-grandchildren (Rory, Vanessa, and Kota).
The Ambiguously Gay Duo is a parody of the stereotypical comic book superhero duo done in the style of Saturday morning cartoons like Super Friends. The characters are clad in matching pastel turquoise tights, dark blue domino masks, and bright yellow coordinated gauntlets, boots and shorts. The shorts were intended to satirize suggestions that early Batman comics implied a homosexual relationship between the eponymous title character and his field partner and protégé Robin, a charge most infamously leveled by Fredric Wertham in his 1954 book, Seduction of the Innocent, the research methodology for which was later discredited. The typical episode usually begins with the duo's arch-nemesis Bighead, a criminal mastermind with an abnormally large cranium.
U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar told the Pierce County Herald, "Asian carp not only pose a serious threat to Minnesota's environment, and they also threaten the recreation and fishing industries that play a key role in the state's economy. We must do everything we can to stop the further spread of this invasive species into our lakes and rivers, and this legislation will help the state take action to protect Minnesota's waterways". In 2015, the locks of St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam were closed to control the spread of Asian carp, making Minneapolis, once again, the head of navigation on the Mississippi. In June 2015, bighead carp were caught by recreational fishermen in the St. Croix River.
The fish species reported are 481, which includes 22 exotic species. A few of the main species in capture fishing are: black sharkminnow (Labeo chrysophekadion), common carp (Cyprinus carpio), Jullien's golden carp (Probarbus jullieni), shark catfish (Pangasius), smallscale mud carp (Cirrhinus microlepis), and catfish (Kryptopterus). There are 10 exotic fish species introduced in the country. These are: Cyprinus carpio (common carp or pa nai), Carassius auratus (gold fish or pa phek in the northern Laos), Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (silver carp or pa ked lap), Ctenopharyngodon idella (grass carp or pa kin gna), Hypophthalmichthys nobilis (bighead carp or pa houa nhai), Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia or pa ninh), Labeo rohita (rohu), Cirrhinus mrigala (mrigal), Catla catla (catla) and Clarias gariepinus (African catfish or pa douk phanh).
Spiracle of a bluespotted ribbontail ray, Taeniura lymma Spiracles (Entry "spiracle" in Merriam-Webster Online DictionaryOED 2nd edition, 1989 as ) are openings on the surface of some animals, which usually lead to respiratory systems. Spiracle of a shark (bighead spurdog, Squalus bucephalus) The spiracle is a small hole behind each eye that opens to the mouth in some fish. In the primitive jawless fish, the first gill opening immediately behind the mouth is essentially similar to the other gill opening. With the evolution of the jaw in the early jawed vertebrates, this gill slit was caught between the forward gill-rod (now functioning as the jaw) and the next rod, the hyomandibular bone, supporting the jaw hinge and anchoring the jaw to the skull proper.
Silver carp were imported to North America in the 1970s to control algae growth in aquaculture and municipal wastewater treatment facilities, but escaped from captivity soon after their importation and are now considered a highly invasive species. Silver carp, with the closely related bighead carp, often reach extremely high population densities, and are known to have undesirable effects on the environment and native species including the Bigmouth Buffalo. They have spread into the Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri Rivers and many of their tributaries in the United States and are abundant in the Mississippi River watershed from Louisiana to South Dakota and Illinois. Navigation dams seem to have slowed their advance up the Mississippi River, and until late November 2008, silver carp had not been captured north of central Iowa on the Mississippi.
The Environmental Protection Agency has designated the Corpus Christi Bay system as an estuary of national significance. More than 234 species of fish are found in the bay, including the Gafftopsail catfish, Hardhead catfish, Atlantic croaker, Atlantic cutlassfish, Black drum, Red drum, Southern flounder, Crevalle jack, Ladyfish, Inshore lizardfish, Atlantic midshipman, Silver perch, Pinfish, Smooth puffer, Scaled sardine, Bighead searobin, Sand seatrout, Spotted seatrout, Sheepshead, Gray snapper, Common snook, and the Tripletail. In 2009, $1 million of federal stimulus money was delegated to the restoration of the marshland near the Nueces Bay Causeway to increase the population of birds and fish. The Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service collaborated to place soil and plant marsh near the causeway to allow a larger nursing location for fish and provide greater quantities of food for water birds.
Randall Badat conceived the idea for Surf II while he was living in Venice, California during the punk era, inspired by the colorful punk characters in his local surf scene (including a man who went by the name of Johnny Bighead), and by incidents of contaminated water and chemical spills in the area. Around this time, Badat suffered a surfing injury which warranted the use of heavy painkillers; it was during this period of being "completely out of [his] mind" that he discussed the idea for a "Frankie and Annette Go to Hell" type of beach party movie parody with his writer friends, who encouraged him to commit it to screenplay. Badat wrote Surf II - originally titled Surf Trash - over the course of two days while he recuperated from his injury. After completing the screenplay, Badat's agent dismissed it as "the worst piece of shit [he'd] ever seen".
His position with the company is usually in middle management, but it can be any position from assembly-line worker to an executive role, depending on the needs of the episode: according to his nameplate at Conglom-O, his job title is "Toad". As seen in the episode "Sailing the 7 Zzzs", he is a sleepwalker and has the habit of turning into a pirate while sleepwalking and views ordinary people and things as their pirate equivalents; he believed Rocko was an enemy pirate and proceeded to launch various household objects, such as toasters and bowling balls (cannonballs), at Rocko's house (an enemy pirate ship) from a dryer (a cannon). In the comic book, Mr. Bighead works for a similar company headed by Donald Frump, an elephant that serves as a parody of Donald Trump. Ed seems to have very bad luck wherever he goes and thus is very cynical.
Rocko's Modern Life has been noted for its racy humor. Adults made up more than one-fifth of the audience for the show during its run. The series contained numerous adult innuendos, such as Rocko's brief stint as a telephone operator at what is implied to be a sex hotline in the episode "Canned": the instructions on the wall behind him helpfully remind all employees to "Be Hot, Be Naughty, and Be Courteous" while he flatly repeats "Oh baby" into the receiver, who turned out to be Mrs. Bighead. Joe Murray noted that the season one segment "Leap Frogs" received "some complaints from some parents" due to its sexual humor, leading to Nickelodeon removing the episode from air for the remainder of the show's run, although it later aired on the cable channel Nicktoons, and was made available on DVD and video streaming sites such as Netflix.
Buffy Sainte-Marie playing the Peterborough Summer Festival of Lights on June 24, 2009 Sainte-Marie voiced the Cheyenne character, Kate Bighead, in the 1991 made-for-TV movie Son of the Morning Star, telling the Indian side of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where Lt. Col. George Custer was killed. In 1992, after a sixteen-year recording hiatus, Sainte-Marie released the album Coincidence and Likely Stories. Recorded in 1990 at home in Hawaii on her computer and transmitted via modem through the Internet to producer Chris Birkett in London, England, the album included the politically charged songs "The Big Ones Get Away" and "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" (which mentions Leonard Peltier), both commenting on the ongoing plight of Native Americans (see also the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.) Also in 1992, Sainte-Marie appeared in the television film The Broken Chain with Wes Studi and Pierce Brosnan along with First Nations Baháʼí Phil Lucas.
