While working, he stumbles upon a "prototype toy" which turns out to be a life size doll. The doll acts as McCoy's girlfriend in the video and fulfills his every wish. However, she eventually becomes tired of being exploited and expresses this in a humorous scene where the two are playing Scrabble (she spells out the words 'krush', 'kill', and 'destroy').

Although Sayaka thanks Kyoko and admits that she misunderstood her, she refuses to abandon her ideals of justice. After Sayaka's soul is tainted further and she becomes the witch Oktavia, Kyoko is determined to save her and restore her to normal. She becomes tired of her pain, renounces her previous ideals, abandons her self- preservation, and chooses to destroy herself and Oktavia in an attempt to both find peace in death and make sure that Sayaka will not die alone.

At first, Pikelet has plenty of fun with the others, though he soon becomes tired of how Sando would constantly put Loonie and himself against each other - and how the older man showed favoritism towards Loonie. The two boys' friendship becomes toxic when Loonie breaks a bone and is unable to join the others for another infamous stunt, causing him to become jealous of Pikelet and treat him with increasing hostility. The final straw is when Sando invites Loonie on a trip to Indonesia with him, but purposely excludes Pikelet. This puts a heavy strain on Pikelet and Loonie's already broken friendship, ruining it forever.

Believing that Nadja had betrayed her and seeing that her dream is at the grasp of her fingers, Rosemary becomes active and manipulative and at times even reaches levels of madness and scheming that are scary for a 13-year-old girl. Even Herman starts to fear her at one point, since he knows Rosemary is perfectly able and willing to use his weaknesses against him if needed. In the end, Rosemary recovers her dignity and becomes tired of all the lies and manipulations, realizing that even in achieving victory through them that she is empty and unsatisfied. After speaking to Nadja one last time, she leaves the Preminger manor to "build her own princess castle", in her own words.

War of Honor details this political backstory and the military build down by the corrupt government which is also antagonizing its allies as well as the new Haven government under President Eloise Pritchart, which is trying to make a peace settlement. Haven becomes tired of being put off in the peace talks and, having received technological upgrades from a secret research and development program and observed the many blunders of the Manticoran government which have weakened the RMN, decides to attack. Hearing that Honor is being given a weak fleet in Silesian space, the Havenites reason that they can also attack there and deal a blow to Manticorian morale by defeating Harrington. Harrington is sent with an inadequate RMN force, but Protector Benjamin insists on reinforcing her with a special unit, The Protector's Own.
