Sukha personally helps Raano in the beauty parlour by doing all the odd jobs like cleaning, mopping and serving tea to her clients. Soon their world turns around and they start earning money and even the landlady later helps them in their personal life by getting Sukha's cousin brother freed from the jail and then the aunt changes for good and starts living together with Sukha and Raano along with her son. Sukha and Raano have saved money but still fall Rs. 2 lakhs short to give to the immigration consultant. So they borrow some money from the landlady and collect some more from Sukha's company friends who start a chit fund to help each other.

On Sunday night two of them will again face public vote, but they will also play a game, which if won can double the percentage the contestant's votes and possibly save him/her from the eviction. Tanya learns about Max's affair with Gemma Clewes (Natalie J. Robb), but she gives their marriage one last try. As an apology, Max buys 10 Turpin Road for Tanya to open as a beauty parlour and begins spending time with Bradley.

On the stage when she receives the trophy, she gives a speech that no one in her life ever supported her and everyone including her father crushed her dream but her husband lifted her up and supported her at every step and made her dreams turn into reality and that every girl should get a thoughtful & supportive husband like Sukha. She also conveys that she will now not go to Canada as Canada is here in India only through the love and happiness that her husband gives her. She then invites him on stage and everyone applauds them. The film closes by showing them having a new beauty parlour at Sukha's village where she is taking care of her client who is Sukha's classmate.

Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother M'Lynn, and Shelby's medical battles, the group's underlying friendship is prominent throughout the drama.

On 29 September Siyouma returned to Newmarket for the Group One Sun Chariot Stakes and started at odds of 12/1 in an eight-runner field. The Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner Beauty Parlour started favourite ahead of Elusive Kate whilst the other runners were Chachamaidee (Matron Stakes), Up (Blandford Stakes), Laugh Out Loud (Prix de Sandringham), Gamilati (Cherry Hinton Stakes, UAE 1000 Guineas) and La Collina (Phoenix Stakes). Mosse settled the filly in second place as Laugh Out Loud set the early pace. Siyouma took the lead a furlong out and held off a challenge from Elusive Kate to win by three quarters of a length with Laugh Out Loud holding on to take third ahead of La Collina.

In early 2012 Samitar was bought privately by Martin S. Schwartz. She began her second season by finishing unplaced in another Tattersalls sales race over six furlongs at Newmarket on 18 April and was then sent to France for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches over 1600 metres at Longchamp Racecourse in which she finished ninth of the thirteen runners behind Beauty Parlour. On 27 May at the Curragh, Samitar was one of eight fillies to contest the Irish 1000 Guineas in which she was ridden by Martin Harley and started at odds of 12/1. Homecoming Queen (horse) started favourite after a nine-length win in the 1000 Guineas while the other runners included La Collina (Phoenix Stakes) and Yellow Rosebud (Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial).

The Indian government retaliated for what it viewed as the mistreatment of its consular official by revoking the ID cards and other privileges of U.S. consular personnel and their families in India and removing security barriers in front of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. The Indian government also blocked non- diplomats from using the American Community Support Association (ACSA) club and American Embassy Club in New Delhi, ordering these social clubs to cease all commercial activities benefiting non-diplomatic personnel by 16 January 2014. The ACSA club operates a bar, bowling alley, swimming pool, restaurant, video-rentals club, indoor gym and a beauty parlour within the embassy premises. Tax-free import clearances given to US diplomats and consular officials for importing food, alcohol and other domestic items were revoked with immediate effect.

One day as per suggestion from her younger sister, she visits an immigration consultant who advises her to join a two-year course in a Canadian cosmetology college post which she can obtain her permanent residence status. She is supposed to pay Rs. 4 lakhs every semester plus Rs. 5 lakhs upfront as their commission. Raano says she doesn't have any money at which the immigration consultant tells her not to worry as there were several guys here who are willing to shell out that much money to obtain a Canadian permanent residence by marrying her on paper. She is hesitant to do this contract marriage but the immigration consultant sends a prospective groom to the beauty parlour where she works, without her knowledge and he creates a scene with her and everyone there.

Taguchi, half Japanese and half American, was scouted by the film studio Toei while working in a beauty parlour, and soon afterwards appeared in a small part in Toei's 1975 film Wolf Guy: Burning Wolf Man directed by Kazuhiko Yamaguchi. There is a reference to Taguchi and the film in Chilean writer Antonio Skármeta 2003 novel The Dancer and the Thief where the lead character refers to a movie poster and remarks "A film with Kumi Taguchi, Mitsuyaso Mainu and Katsunori Hirose can't be all bad." She also starred in the film's sequel released by Nikkatsu in November 1975, directed by Katsuhiko Fujii.

The Southern Cross Ballroom, with a seating capacity of 500, sat on top of the south side of the plaza building, and was accessed from the main lobby. There were a total of ten bars, restaurants and function rooms within the hotel and the plaza, and the range of shops included such necessities as a pharmacy, hairdresser, beauty parlour, tobacconists, car rental, travel agents, banks, as well as fashion boutiques and gift shops. A large 350 space carpark in the basement served both guests and public (guests could park free of charge when it first opened). The shopping plaza was designed on a broad horizontal base, setback from the marked slope of Bourke and Little Collins Streets (this created a break in the continuity of the shopfronts along Bourke Street, eventually affecting its popularity and viability).
