Overlook from the Hill Xiao Yu Hill (Chinese: 小鱼山公园, meaning "Small Fish Mountain Public Park") is located north-east of the Laiyang road, Qingdao. It is 60 meters high and covers an area of 2.5 hectares. It is the first park hill with a style of classical gardens in Qingdao. In 1884 Charles Seidel, boat builder and harbormaster on Reeds Lake, thought the property would be a fine spot for a bathing beach. He leased the land for just this purpose. The property was then purchased and developed into a more substantial beach resort by Thomas Reed in 1905 His family continued to operate the facility after he died. Islip has a wealth of extant Queen Anne Revival homes. Located along the picturesque Great South Bay, Islip has a long history associated with fishing, clamming (the world-famous Doxsee Clam Company started in Islip), swimming and boating. Islip Hamlet has its own public bathing beach, under the jurisdiction of the town. Boating and yachting are as popular today as they were years ago, if not more so, with the development of the communities on the adjacent barrier beach of Fire Island.

The Sheerness Swimming Club & Lifeguard Corps is a group located on the Isle of Sheppey that provides instruction to non-swimmers, improvers, and competitive standard swimmers. It also provides life-saving instruction and personal survival training. During the period from June to September, members provide lifeguard cover on Sundays at the bathing beach on Sheerness seafront. The group is the product of a merger between The Sheerness Swimming Club, founded in 1884, and the Sheerness Lifeguard Corps, formed in 1959.

Until Lake Shore Boulevard was extended to Woodbine Avenue in the 1950s, Woodbine Beach was not a bathing beach, but rather a desolate wooded area known as The Cut. And Woodbine Avenue was the western boundary of the neighbourhood. While the official City northern boundary ends at Kingston Road, the area to the north has become known as the 'Upper Beaches' according to real estate marketers. The area bounded by Queen Street, Woodbine and Kingston Road is nicknamed the 'Beach Triangle'.

The success of the Stager Lake park led Larson to purchase land for other parks, including the area that is now Bewabic State Park. Bewabic Park was created in 1923, when Larson purchased a 120-acre farmstead on Fortune Lake containing a stand of virgin timber. Larson turned the farmhouse into a caretaker's residence, and installed a bathing beach, picnic area parking lot, and campground. Improvements at the park were minimal until 1933, when workers from the Civil Works Administration (CWA) were assigned to the park.

Jean Klock Park is a historic city park along Lake Michigan in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States. In 1917, J. N. Klock and his wife, Carrie, bought a significant stretch of lakeshore including tall dunes and of shoreline from E. K. Warren, donor of Warren Dunes, and deeded the land to the city of Benton Harbor. They gave the land in memory of their daughter, Jean, who died in early childhood. The Klock deed stipulates that the property be used for bathing beach, park purposes, or other public purposes.

The area around Woodbine Beach was once a cottage community in a similar style to the communities on the Toronto Island, today it is a popular beach. Until Lake Shore Boulevard was extended to Woodbine Avenue in the 1950s, Woodbine Beach was not a bathing beach, but rather a wooded area known as 'The Cut'. Woodbine Beach and neighbouring Ashbridge's Bay are a popular place to visit to see the fireworks for Victoria Day. There are over 90 volleyball courts, and various outdoor leisure activity rentals, such as bicycles, canoes, kayaks, and standup paddle boards.

Rehabilitation work was undertaken by the 1056th Port Construction and Repair Group, with the 332nd and 342nd Engineer Regiments and the 333rd Engineer Special Service Regiment assigned. The first priority was creating a landing site for DUKW amphibious trucks on the Nouvelle Plage, a bathing beach. This was ready on 6 July, but the DUKWs could not come ashore because the Grande and Petite Rades had been sown with mines. Proponents saw public beaches as an opportunity to accommodate demand for public baths and eliminate the expenditure of enforcement resources on ordinance violations for public bathing. The city responded by opening the first public bathing beach in 1895 in Lincoln Park primarily as a response to the efforts of the Free Bath and Sanitary League (formerly the Municipal Order League). Spaces were designated for public use and the city accepted responsibility for maintaining the beaches. Barcola is a maritime neighbourhood of Trieste, Italy. It is a popular tourist place with beaches and long promenade walkways, near to the Habsburg- established Miramare Castle. Barcola is highly valued for the high quality of life and living and the free access to the sea. The Ilanka river, which is the right-bank tributary of the Oder river, flows through the town and takes the tributary Rzepin to the south of the town, near Nowy Młyn. Among the Ilanka's hydrological curiosities is the phenomenon of bifurcation, occurring to the north of Rzepin, where the river separates its stream. As a result, some waters flow into the Łęczna river to the Warta drainage. According to testimony given to a Congressional subcommittee in 1917, it was Major Twining's idea to create a tidal reservoir and use that water to help "flush" the Washington Channel, and the design was carried out by Colonel Hains. A 1917 Army Corps of Engineers map of Washington already shows the basin with the name "Twining Lake". In August 1918 the whites-only Congressionally-funded Tidal Basin Bathing Beach was opened in front of the site of the present-day Jefferson Memorial. The beach was popular, and by one estimate attracted up to 20,000 people on a July day in 1920.

In order to provide refreshments for the prospective buyers, "Ye English Inn" was built. A dinner for $1.00 was advertised in the newspapers and proved to be a very satisfactory and well cooked meal of fried fish, fried chicken, choice of three vegetables, salad, bread and butter, ice cream, cake and coffee, and was a real drawing card. The bathing beach with bath-house was on the shore of Epping Park and was used exclusively until 1928. In the early 1980s, potable water was begun to be poured into the lake while water from the bottom of the lake was pumped out, operations resulting in a significant reduction in levels of phosphorus but which failed to affect levels of nutrients and oxygen depletion in bottom layers. Levels of lead and copper are among the highest documented in any lake in Stockholm.

The Ice Company was granted a 99-year lease for "the exclusive use of the water and its privileges." It was chartered for the purpose of "erecting a dam, for pleasure, boating, skating, fishing and the cutting, storing and selling of ice." A Presbyterian Young People's Conference held at Assembly Lodge in Pocono Pines, on an early postcard In 1902, visitors came from many of the surrounding metropolitan areas including New York City and Philadelphia. In the same year the first bathing beach was created and some lots on the north side of the lake were subdivided and sold to summer cottagers.

The beach side (east elevation) opens to an attractive courtyard which is created by the U-shaped building and an open roof structure, which is supported by columns. The north and south wings are sheltered by a contemporary mansard roof and clad in modern brick and polished concrete block veneer. These newer additions have a modern neo-colonial aesthetic that is complementary to the original central block, but differs from the building’s original 1928 design. These structures are support buildings that shelter the restrooms, showers, and changing stations for visitors of the park and bathing beach.

Bertrand Island Amusement Park was located on Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey in the Borough of Mount Arlington, New Jersey. It was actually located on a narrow finger-shaped peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides, that jutted into Lake Hopatcong. The park began as a bathing beach and soon started adding amusements in the 1910s when a connection was constructed via a trolley by the Morris County Traction Company. Later, during the 1920s, it was expanded by the owner, Louis Kraus, and ultimately included some 20 rides including a wooden roller coaster, an airplane swing, bumper cars, picnic areas, a Skee-Ball arcade, dance hall, and a cafeteria.

It was also served by steamboats operating from Detroit and small towns along the river and lakes. During this time period Sugar Island, which is one of the twelve islands commonly considered to comprise Grosse Ile, featured an amusement park, dance pavilion, and bathing beach. Paddle steamers regularly carried people from Detroit and other points along the Michigan side of the Detroit River to Sugar Island. During this era and into the early 20th century, a number of wealthy residents from Detroit and other nearby towns built summer homes along the shoreline (mainly on the southern end) of Grosse Ile in order to enjoy views of the Detroit River or Lake Erie.

By 1922, Goetz worked as a lifeguard at Clarendon Municipal Bathing Beach in the neighbourhood of Beach Park, Illinois until he was charged with sexually assaulting seven-year-old Jean Lanbert by an alley near her house where she lived in Edgewater, Chicago. Goetz denied the charges and jumped bail on June 10, 1925. Four months later, Roger Bessner implicated Goetz in a failed robbery of Dr. Henry R. Gross, in which the family chauffeur was killed. On October 20, 1925 the Illinois State Attorney had a lawsuit brought against Fred's parents, Samuel and Ottillie, who scheduled some of their empty real estate property to be used as collateral for their son's bond.

In 1878, Starin purchased a series of small islands off the coast of New Rochelle, New York for his country estate and eventually turned the property into an amusement park called Starin's Glen Island. He maintained the islands as a select summer resort, operating 12 steamboats to and from New York City. The islands were so popular that hundreds of thousands of visitors were brought every season to the attractions which included a zoo, a natural history museum, a railway, a German beer garden (around the castle- like structure which still stands today), a bathing beach, and a Chinese pagoda. A chain ferry transported visitors from a mainland dock on Neptune Island.

This museum offers a detailed overview of what were once the consequences of a divided Germany. Four cinemas and seven public libraries round the cultural life out. Since 1979, the €2,500 “Cultural Prize of the Town of Rodgau” (Kulturpreis der Stadt Rodgau) for outstanding performance by a Rodgau artist or project has been given out every year, since 1992 alternating with the “Cultural Promotion Prize” (Kulturförderpreis), specially for young artists. Rodgau became well known countrywide for hits by the band the Rodgau Monotones, for example St. Tropez am Baggersee (“St. Tropez on the Quarry Pond”, which is the nickname for the local bathing beach in the town) or Erbarme, die Hesse komme (“Have mercy, the Hessians are coming”).

Concerns remained over the lack of a nearby recreational bathing beach, and solutions were sought for bringing back the excitement of the area’s heyday. With numerous debates over the area and its use as a portion of the track for the Long Beach Grand Prix, the main development of the area did not occur until the construction and 2003 opening of The Pike at Rainbow Harbor, an entertainment-retail center that pays homage to its past as an amusement zone. The revised center spanned between the Long Beach Convention Center and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The tourist-oriented development had a large number of restaurants and a 14-theater megaplex Cinemark movie theater.

Ports were battered and a large number of vessels were lost. The damage caused by this hurricane is still visible near some sections of the southern coast, particularly in the former and now abandoned Church of São Mateus da Calehta (Igreja Velha de São Mateus da Calheta) and the homes of the Bay of Refugo. Prior to these lava flows, the area was a small semi-sheltered cove used by fishermen to tie-up their boats. Today, the area is classified by the Government of the Azores as a Class 1 bathing beach (according to the definition spelled out in Regional Decree 1/2005/A, 15 February 2005); it has a fresh-water swimming pool and a well-equipped children's playground.

In 1976 a 750-meter tram line was opened in Klagenfurt's Europapark. Known as the "Lendcanaltramway", the line has four tram halts and is operated during summer months by electric (or more rarely horse drawn) trams. Plans to extend the line have existed for a long time, but have been deferred for a succession of reasons, including planning hurdles resulting from the park's status as a nature conservation zone and, in contrast, the planning process for a convention centre, which was eventually built and is today known as the Lindner Seepark Hotel. On 27 January 2009 the city council gave unanimous support for a tourist tram service linking the bathing beach with the model village, and they gave the project the name Lake Tramway ("Seetramway").

Niverville's first park—Kinderhook Lake Park, aka The Old Park—was established in 1870 as a picnic and meeting place. By 1899 the railroad trolleys were electrified and Niverville's Electric Park was founded along Kinderhook Lake. Lit by colored lights, the amusement park featured two Ferris wheels (one run by steam, the other by electricity), a carousel, a roller coaster, and other rides, as well as live vaudeville performances held in a dancing pavilion, an aquarium stocked with native fish, and a bathing beach alongside the lake's popular boating and fishing activities. The Niverville Fire Department, established in 1916, is a central community hub serving Kinderhook Lake, residents of adjacent Chatham town along the eastern edge of the lake, and Niverville residents.

In 1935, which coincidentally was the year in which traffic in Klagenfurt switched to driving on the right side of the road, saw a new tram service connecting the Military Swimming School with the city's newly expanded opened bathing beach on the Wörthersee. The total length of tram lines now comprised 10.2 km (slightly more than 6 miles). The open ended "summer tramcars" that had been taken over from the horse-drawn trams in 1911 were still in use, and they were held in great affection so that now a new batch was ordered for the new line, with only very minor technical modifications. Operational problems nevertheless arose from lack of infrastructure investment which meant that right up to the end most of the Klagenfurt tram system operated on a single track network.

Walking Trail, Fitzroy Island There is a walking track that takes in the northern end of the island, the lighthouse on the north-west point which overlooks Little Fitzroy Island, and the island's peak, which offers stunning 360 degree views over the surrounding reefs and Cape Grafton. From the top, on a clear day it is possible to make out the Frankland Islands to the south. The trail then drops back down to the resort. Nudey Beach can be accessed by heading along the trail at the southern end of the resort, and leads along the edge of the island through rainforest, with occasional glimpses out to Cape Grafton, and then descends to Nudey Beach, which was once a nude bathing beach, with some coral available for snorkelers.

In the 1970s, the city of Long Beach began redevelopment of the area, expanding into the Pacific Ocean, eliminating the recreational bathing beach by pouring landfill over it. The city had purchased the RMS Queen Mary in 1967 and permanently docked the ship in Long Beach across the mouth of the Los Angeles River from the shoreline area of the Nu-Pike where a new road circled the parking lot and Londontowne shopping-dining complex serviced by a London Double Deck omnibus to Downtown Long Beach. The Nu-Pike was renamed "Queens Park" when the Queen Mary opened to the public in 1971 as a self-guided maritime museum tour on the upper decks and former engine room, hotel utilizing the former luxury staterooms of the mid-decks and Jacques Cousteau's The Living Sea. Focus and attention was further diverted from Queens Park with Shoreline Village and Rainbow Harbor marina, serviced by Shoreline Drive, built to connect to the Long Beach Freeway on even more ocean landfill south of the Pike, as locals continued to call it.

Starting in 1946, black residents, including the Negro Professional and Business Man's League and Dr. Von D. Mizell, requested that the County designate "a public bathing beach for colored people in Broward County"; they were not permitted at any public beach in the county, although they were tolerated on the privately owned beaches north of Ft. Lauderdale until 1953. Nothing was done about a "colored beach" until 1954, when the county acquired land for the beach, today Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, but it was only accessible by boat and for several years there were no tables or rest rooms. A bridge and access road were constructed after 11 more years, in 1965. In the meantime, to some extent inspired by the release of Where the Boys Are at the beginning of 1961, frustrated African-American residents, led by Eula Johnson, President of the Broward NAACP chapter, and Dr. Von D. Mizell, conducted a series of "wade-ins" (see sit-ins) on Ft. Lauderdale beaches between July 4 and August 8, 1961.

Attractions and rides were being added in an increasing rate: an "aerial swing," a Japanese bowling alley, a "Gee Whiz",which Sandy described as "a cross between a giant teeter-totter and a flying jinny", cited in Indianapolis Amusement Parks 1903-1911: Landscapes on the Edge - Connie J. Zeigler, Indiana University 2007 an electric carousel, a miniature railway, various arcade and carnival games... and a massive (350 feet long) shoot-the-chutes ride. Each new ride was bedecked with lighting similar to that of the Luna Parks (not only of Coney Island but also Ingersoll's burgeoning empire in Cleveland and Pittsburgh). Riverside Amusement Park also benefitted from the increased popularity of its skating rink, dancing pavilion, canoes, and rowboats - each generating revenues as the park's new rivals spent thousands of dollars with new attractions and rides."Big steer at Riverside", Indianapolis Star, 7 June 1908, cited in Indianapolis Amusement Parks 1903-1911: Landscapes on the Edge - Connie J. Sandy (as mechanical rides were rapidly declining in popularity) was the bathing beach (with a six-story-tall diving tower), opened in 1910.
