In 1999, Eyo appeared with Goldie in the David Bowie film Everybody Loves Sunshine known as B.U.S.T.E.D., internationally. She also starred in the movie G:MT - Greenwich Mean Time.

At the end of the year, returning to their origins as a covers band, they released a five-track Christmas EP, Five Great Gift Ideas from The Reels, produced by Bruce Brown and Russell Dunlop, which included Jim Reeves' "According to My Heart" and Freda Payne's "Band of Gold". She remained on the soap for two years between 1998 and 2000. When her contract was not renewed, the character was written out in a scene that saw her commit suicide by jumping in front of a lorry. The scene, watched by 17 million viewers, won Radcliffe the British Soap Award for Best Exit.

Lost in Love is a ten-track collection of songs that were recorded by Freda Payne during the decade of the seventies. With the exception of her biggest hit "Band of Gold," the rest of the tracks were recorded after she left the label of Invictus Records in 1973 (Invictus went defunct that same year). Tracks 2 through 9 were all taken from Payne's album Out of Payne Comes Love, while the final selection is from her album Payne & Pleasure, which was released a year before Out of Payne Comes Love.

While Fabergé was the owner of his workshop and while all of the eggs produced there are considered "Fabergé eggs", Fabergé himself is not known to have ever participated in the actual construction of any of them, including the first. The crafting of the first Imperial egg is instead attributed to Erik Kollin of Fabergé's workshop. It is made of gold completely coated with opaque white enamel to look like a real egg. A thin band of gold where the two halves of the shell are joined is visible around the middle of the egg.

The illustrations of Tash, a vulture headed god, by Pauline Baynes appear to be inspired by Hindu as opposed to Islamic imagery, with multiple arms and a distinct resemblance to the ancient Indian deity Garuda. Ranking below the Tisroc are his sons (princes), a Grand Vizier, and the noble classes, who are addressed as Tarkaan (male) and Tarkheena (female). The nobility have a band of gold on their arm and their marriages are usually arranged at a young age.

Attested as early as the Old Kingdom, the cap crown is most commonly associated with the Dynasty 25 Kushite kings, who are frequently depicted wearing the crown with two uraei. In that era, the crown was referred to as a sdn. The remnants of what appears to be a cap crown (JE 62699) were found on the mummy of Tutankhamun. Tutankhamun's crown consisted of a band of gold wrapped around the king's temples that secured a linen skullcap, which had mostly decayed by the time of the tomb's excavation.

"Band of Gold" is a popular song written and composed by former Motown producers Holland–Dozier–Holland (under the pseudonym of Edythe Wayne) and Ron Dunbar. It was a major hit when first recorded by Freda Payne in 1970 for the Invictus label, owned by H-D-H. The song has been recorded by numerous artists, notably competing 1986 versions by contrasting pop singers Belinda Carlisle and Bonnie Tyler, and a 2007 version by Kimberley Locke. The legendary songwriting team of Holland–Dozier–Holland used the name Edythe Wayne because of a lawsuit in which they were embroiled with Motown.

She studied at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre and her first television appearance was a small part in an episode of A Touch of Frost. She went on to star in the acclaimed drama series Band of Gold before landing a role in the film Girls' Night alongside Julie Walters and Brenda Blethyn. Full Circle is an album by Barbara Dickson, released in 2004. As the title suggests, the album saw Dickson returning to her first love - folk music. It also marked the beginning of her musical partnership with Troy Donockley who arranged and produced the album. Chapter 7, page 187. Later that decade, he founded Inferno Records which specialised in the licensing and reissuing of music made popular on the Northern soul scene. Amongst Inferno Record's releases were two popular Northern soul compilation LPs, Out On The Floor Tonight and Soul Galore and a reissue of Freda Payne's "Band of Gold" on 7". The label also attained some minor success when it leased the rights for Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love" from AVI Productions in Los Angeles and reissued the original song on 7" and an extended all-nighter version on 12" vinyl format. This was in the wake of Soft Cell's 1981 UK#1 cover version and the Inferno reissue 7" sold 45,000 copies.

Among other versions are recordings by The Boswell Sisters, Connee Boswell, Nat "King" Cole, Scatman Crothers, Gregory Isaacs, Barry Manilow, Dean Martin, Anne Murray, Willie Nelson, Linda Scott, Shakin' Stevens, Al Bowlly, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Mae Morse, and The Mills Brothers. Don Cherry, best known for "Band of Gold", his 1955 mega hit, released a version of 'Letter' in 1957 on a Coronet 78 (an Australian label), working with Ray Conniff and his Orchestra. On the flip side was So Rare. Charlie Gracie (mostly known for his 1957 #1 hit "Butterfly" on Cameo Record label #105—45rpm) recorded "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" (Cadillac Record label #141—45 rpm).

On 25 September, hours before the first Friday show was going to start, Affe Hagström, Nadja Holm and Herman Silow also tested positive for the virus, which led to changes to the week's show. The contestants therefore performed their songs from their suites at their hotel. Affe Hagström, who was going to sing the song "Sun Is Shining (Band of Gold)" by Vargas & Lagola, made the decision to not perform that week. Dubbed locally as the "Band of Gold", currently under the direction of David Edwards, the South Point High School Marching Band has received a superior rating at the Ohio Music Education Association state marching band finals for the past 11 years. The band performs at local O.M.E.A competitions and recently attended the Bands of America Grand National Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana for the first time in 2012 with their show "Beautifully Broken". The band performed in the BOA Grand National Championship again in the fall of 2014, coming as close as 9/10 of a point to making semifinals. Additionally, the band performs for football games, home basketball games, and a variety of parades as well.

Addy made his first TV appearance in 1987 in The Ritz, followed in 1988 by A Very Peculiar Practice, followed by TV performances in shows such as Heartbeat, Band of Gold, Married... with Children, Peak Practice, The Thin Blue Line, Too Much Sun, Sunnyside Farm, Trollied and The Syndicate. The song tells a story which is open to a number of interpretations – based on the lyrics in the most commonly heard version of the song, which is the seven-inch single, the story is of a recently married woman whose husband is incapable of loving her (even though he tried), resulting in the couple sleeping in separate rooms on their honeymoon, to her dismay. It would appear that the marriage ended in the husband's abandoning his bride, leaving her with no more than the 'band of gold' of the title (and the dreams she invested in it). The last few years have brought a period of change and transition to the quartet. Many personnel changes in the front line, as well as the breakup of the Band of Gold, have given a new look as well as a new sound to the group. The most notable and tragic change occurred in 2006, when Doug Riley, who co-managed Gold City in addition to playing drums (before taking over running the sound when the group streamlined their operations), was killed in an auto accident on the way to the recording studio early on the morning of January 31, 2006 to continue work on a recording. In March 2006, bass singer Bill Lawrence (who had been handpicked by former bass Tim Riley) left the group.

He played on the Jimi Hendrix album Crash Landing.

As a writer, she began working for Granada Television in the 1980s, writing for their hugely popular soap opera Coronation Street, the most-watched programme on the ITV network. In 1989, Mellor also wrote seven episodes for the popular Channel 4 soap Brookside. She wrote for the anthology drama series Dramarama, before co-creating the long- running children's drama Children's Ward with her Coronation Street colleague Paul Abbott in 1988. She also created the soap opera Families, which aired from 1990 until 1993. Since then she has written a host of highly acclaimed and popular television drama serials, including Band of Gold (1995), Playing the Field (1998) for BBC One, Fat Friends (2000), Between the Sheets (2003) and Strictly Confidential (2006) for ITV.

The proposals were then examined by a panel of experts put in place by the African Union Commission and selected from the five African regions for short listing according to the main directions given by the Heads of State and Government. At the 13th Ordinary Session of the Assembly, the Heads of State and Government examined the report of the Panel and selected one among all the proposals. The flag is now part of the paraphernalia of the African Union and replaces the old one. The old flag of the African Union bears a broad green horizontal stripe, a narrow band of gold, the emblem of the African Union at the centre of a broad white stripe, another narrow gold band and a final broad green stripe.

Bhatti began acting at age fourteen starring in the children series Dramarama, however it wasn't until the nineties until he furthered his career, for which he appeared in the British soap opera Family Pride, Band of Gold, Holding On, and most notably as Dr Rajesh Rajah in Cardiac Arrest, among many other television roles during this time. In 2002 Bhatti made a brief appearance in Bend It Like Beckham, played the central character Dave in BBC Three's dark comedy Grease Monkeys (2003), and played flashy Ash Aslan in 2006's New Street Law. In 2007 he took on a minor role for two episodes in the first series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl as Ashok, a regular client of the main character, Belle. He reappeared in 2010 in the same role.

Samantha Jane Morton (born 13 May 1977) is an English actress and director. She is known for her work in independent productions often with dark themes and has received numerous accolades, including a British Academy Television Award, a British Independent Film Award and a Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a British Academy Film Award. Morton was a member of the Central Junior Television Workshop in her native Nottingham, and later began her career in British television in 1991. She guest-starred in Soldier Soldier and Cracker and had a bigger role in the ITV series Band of Gold. She made the transition to film with lead roles in the dramas Emma (1996), Jane Eyre (1997), and the well- received Under the Skin (1997).

First single, "Mad About You", peaked at number three in the US, topped the Canadian Singles Chart, and charted on the top 10 in Australia. The song was followed by "I Feel the Magic" and by a cover version of the Freda Payne song "Band of Gold". Carlisle's second album Heaven on Earth was released in 1987 through MCA and became a Top 5 bestseller in the United Kingdom and Australia. The first single release became "Heaven Is a Place on Earth", which topped the single charts in many countries including US and UK. The second single from the album was "I Get Weak", which shot to number two in the States and number ten in the U.K.. Third single, "Circle in the Sand" was another Top 10 hit in the US, UK and Germany.

The theme song's lyrics during the opening titles provide a back story for the point where the film begins: Sam McCord left Seattle in 1892 with George and Billy Pratt, "crossed the Yukon river" and "found the bonanza gold below that old white mountain just a little southeast of Nome." By "1901" Sam was known as "a mighty man", and his partner George then tells him, "I'd trade all the gold that's buried in this land for one small band of gold to place on sweet little Jenny's hand." George feels that Jenny is his "true love", and he declares he will "build for my Jenny a honeymoon home" below the same mountain where gold was discovered. An instrumental of the song is also played at the saloon on a piano when Sam and Angel arrive in Nome.

James Garbutt (1925 – 6 April 2020) was a British actor who was active on television from the 1960s. Born in Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham in 1925, James was an RAF pilot and was trained in the United States and stationed in Africa during the second world war. After the war he then became an Art Teacher during this time, and he became a key member of The People's Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne, during the 1950s and 1960s. His credits include: The Troubleshooters, The Borderers, Z-Cars, The Onedin Line, Warship, Doctor Who (in the serial Genesis of the Daleks), Bill Brand, When the Boat Comes In, Juliet Bravo, One by One, All Creatures Great and Small, Soldier, Soldier (TV series) 'Band of Gold' episode (which features Robson & Jerome singing in an impromptu wedding band), Boon, Between the Lines and Casualty.

The series emulates dramas such as Band of Gold in presenting realistic discussion on sexuality, as opposed to "one-sided" gay characters in soap operas such as EastEnders, and eschews "heavy-handed discussion" of issues such as HIV; the show instead focuses on the party scene on Canal Street. After he wrote the pilot, he approached actors for the main characters. Christopher Eccleston was Davies' first choice for the role of Stuart Jones; Eccleston declined because of his age and suggested his friend Aidan Gillen instead. The roles of Vince Tyler and Nathan Maloney were given to Craig Kelly and Charlie Hunnam, and the secondary character Alexander Perry, originally written for the television producer Phil Collinson during his brief acting career, was portrayed by Antony Cotton, who later played the gay character Sean Tully in Coronation Street.

After releasing three joyful singles, "Hasta Mañana" (1990), "Jungle Jive" (1991) and "He's My Guy" (1991), RCA Records/BMG decided that the follow-up record to come out would be the pop ballad "The Last Song", composed by Jacques Zwart and his partner, the Luv' singer Marga Scheide. Like any track from the 1991 Sincerely Yours album, Zwart produced the song, surrounded by a team of session musicians (Bert Meulendijk, Eddie Conard, Hans Jansen, Lex Bolderdijk and Ton op 't Hof) who worked with popular Dutch artists (like Bolland & Bolland, Paul de Leeuw, Gordon, Lee Towers, Herman Brood, and Dolly Dots). Moreover, Omar Dupree (a former member of America Gypsy and Band of Gold, famous bands in the Dutch scene in the 1970s and 1980s) recorded background vocals on "The Last Song". Despite the participation of the successful above-mentioned musicians, the single flopped and failed to make any chart impact.

Among prominent British television shows filmed in (and based on) Yorkshire are the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, the drama series Heartbeat, and the soap opera Emmerdale. Last of the Summer Wine in particular is noted for holding the record of longest-running comedy series in the world, from 1973 until 2010. In the sitcom The New Statesman, Alan B'Stard resided in a fictional town in North Yorkshire where he was MP. Several noted films are set in Yorkshire, including Kes, This Sporting Life, Room at the Top, Brassed Off, Mischief Night, Rita, Sue and Bob Too, The Damned United, Four Lions, God's Own Country and Calendar Girls.

After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II (where he worked under Walter Schumann), he joined the Artie Shaw big band and wrote many arrangements for him. After his stint with Shaw, he was then hired by Mitch Miller in 1954, then head of A&R; at Columbia Records, as their home arranger, working with several artists including Rosemary Clooney, Marty Robbins, Frankie Laine, Johnny Mathis, Guy Mitchell and Johnnie Ray. He wrote a top 10 arrangement for Don Cherry's "Band of Gold" in 1955, a single that sold more than a million copies. Among the hit singles he backed with his orchestra (and eventually with a male chorus) were "Yes Tonight Josephine" and "Just Walkin' in the Rain" by Johnnie Ray; "Chances Are" and "It's Not for Me to Say" by Johnny Mathis; "A White Sport Coat" and "The Hanging Tree" by Marty Robbins; "Moonlight Gambler" by Frankie Laine; "Up Above My Head", a duet by Frankie Laine and Johnnie Ray; and "Pet Me, Poppa" by Rosemary Clooney.
