The painting became famous almost overnight with critics of the Salon speculating about Gerome's sources for the incident depicted in the painting. (The theme seems to have been in fashion; Thomas Couture dealt with the same subject in 1857 with Le Duel après le bal masqué, now in the Wallace Collection). The painting was acquired in 1858 by the duc d'Aumale.

The rooms are not only subject to painting, but their floor-covering and curtains are also revised accordingly. He was again hired by Bel Peol and went to Misaki City, badly wounding the Flame Haze by surprise attack and he then set another part of the "Psalm" into Yuji.

Sydonay seems to care for her a lot. Bel Peol always mentions her having "eternal existence". Her position is very important with respect to what the Bal Masqué plans to do with the Midnight Lost Child, since she is the one who can take the power of the Midnight Lost Child and send it out to everything in Seireiden. :Hecate is a sad, quiet character, who has taken up the habit of prayer - despite having no one to pray to and despite Bel Peol considering it an odd thing to do - and frequently laments that she is 'empty'.

Masque of the Red Death is a 1989 American horror film produced by Roger Corman, and directed by Larry Brand, starring Adrian Paul and Patrick Macnee. The film is a remake of the 1964 picture of the same name which was directed by Roger Corman. The screenplay, written by Daryl Haney and Larry Brand, is based upon the classic 1842 short story of the same name by American author Edgar Allan Poe, concerning the exploits of Prince Prospero, who organizes a bal masqué in his castle while the peasants of his fiefdom die from the plague in great numbers.

The production opened on 17 November 1869 to ecstatic reviews and was performed a total of 65 times, notwithstanding that the opera was also being performed that same season in Italian at the Théâtre-Italien. Le bal masqué was followed by Michael William Balfe's three-act The Bohemian Girl, in a revised and highly adapted French version by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges. In the light novels, it is implied that Hecate is praying to the Bal Masqué's god, the Snake of the Festival (God of Creation). In contrast to her counterpart in the anime, the light novels depict Hecate as a cold and feared leader that even the entire Bal Masqué itself fear her. She has hobby of trekking in mountain tops, yet she despises mountain climbers who litter her favorite sites, so she slaughters them on sight. She is extremely skilled in combat using Aster, a Power of Unrestraint which shoots energy beams like meteor shower, and is capable in grappling as well which equals to Shana's skill.

Suzette, a French maid, has attracted several men, including a jealous gendarme, Paul Lecuire, and a waiter at the hotel where she works, Charles Brown. She must choose an escort to the upcoming bal-masqué. But things are complicated when several visitors to the hotel all call for the pretty maid, including an Indian Prince, his attaché, and Jack Brown, an English soldier who is the waiter's twin brother. In traditional French style, Suzette strings them all along, causing confusion in the lives of all concerned, including the aristocratic Admiral and Lady Hawser, their niece Dorothy and her lover, Harry, who gets involved in situations full of jealousy, disguises and misunderstandings.

As one of the first prolific choreographers to have studied both modern dance and ballet, his choreography began to create the hybrid between modern and ballet that is very common today. Cooking, however, is one of her weaknesses; this was made even more evident in the second season, after her attempts at cooking crashed Chigusa's kitchen. :Wilhelmina dislikes Yuji as an overprotective mother might dislike her daughter's boyfriend, and constantly refers to him as "the Mystes", though later on, she occasionally refers to him by his proper name. She has, in the anime, advocated killing him so as to keep the Reiji Maigo out of the hands of the Bal Masqué and had to be stopped from performing the deed herself twice by Shana. In the anime's second season, Wilhelmina has begun to, more or less, accept Yuji's presence, if not his influence on Shana, and, at Shana's request, becomes Yuji's training partner when Shana is otherwise not available.

When the Snake of the Festival emerges, it merges its consciousness with Yuji's, assuming command over Bal Masqué, and together they formulate an elaborate plan to create a parallel world called Xanadu, which will serve as a paradise for Denizens with unlimited Power of Existence. Shana, and all of the other Flame Haze around the world, oppose the creation of Xanadu, which would eventually cause a large-scale disruption in the human world, the Crimson Realm and Xanadu itself. Shana formulates a countermeasure and is ultimately successful in adding a single law to Xanadu where the Denizens are not allowed to eat humans anymore. With Xanadu created, the Denizens depart to the new world, soon followed by hundreds of Flame Haze determined to help enforce order on it.

Thus, in memory of their first baby, they named the second baby Yuji, which means "second (child) who shall live long". Yuji is a kind person who puts others before himself. This often causes Shana much confusion and annoyance, as in her experience other Torches exhibited selfish attitudes. At the same time Yuji's compassion and empathy sow the seeds of attraction between him and Shana, and surprisingly, also the reason for their separation, as both Yuji and Sairei no Hebi's main objective is to create a new world between the Human Realm and the Crimsom Realm named "Xanadu" in which the Crimson Denizens and Lords can live peacefully without interfering on both worlds, and thus ending the conflict between the Flame Hazes and Bal Masqué This plan is opposed by Shana and her allies who fear that an eventual collapse of Xanadu would further degrade the balance between the worlds.

Guise dancing was observed in the late 19th century by Cornish antiquarian M. A. Courtney who reported that the practice had been largely eliminated by 1890 in Penzance due to a decline in the traditional nature of the celebrations and a rise in anti-social behaviour, the practice however could be found in St Ives, Newlyn and Mousehole St Ives finally ceasing in the 1970s. Mummer's Day in Padstow is considered by many to be the last form of traditional Guise dancing left, but is distinguished by the use of different music and the lack of masks, which are replaced by blackened faces. Masks are the most notable feature of Guise dancers both historic and modern with "Bal masqué"Edmondes, Richard :from the Transcripts of the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society 1851 being a common type of mask on display, animal masks, and plainer masks also present. William Bottrell in his book Traditions and Hearthside Stories of West Cornwall (1870–80) describes in detail the guise dancers in Penzance, including their traditional costume.
