"O’Toole becomes Bishop of Plymouth", The Tablet, 30 January 2014 In O'Toole's homily during the Stella Maris Mass for seafarers on 25 September 2014 in Plymouth Cathedral, O'Toole expressed an affinity with the mission of the Apostleship of the Sea, the Catholic charity that provides pastoral and practical support to all seafarers.

On July 20, 1922, Gojdič entered St. Nicholas Monastery on Chernecha Hora, near Mukachevo, where taking the habit on January 27, 1923, he took the name Pavel. Appointed Director of the Apostleship of Prayer, he became instrumental in spreading the practice of frequent confession and holy communion throughout the Eparchy of Mukachevo. Stanisław Musiał (1 May 1938, Łososina Górna, Poland - 5 March 2004 Kraków) was a pioneer and leader of Catholic-Jewish dialogue and Polish-Jewish reconciliation. He studied philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Kraków and theology at the Bobolanum Theological Faculty in Warsaw, as well as in Rome in Munich. He was ordained as priest in 1963. A long-time member of editorial board of Poland's Tygodnik Powszechny, he also directed Kraków's Apostleship of Prayer Publishing House in the years immediately following the Solidarity revolution in Poland.

The Mission to Seafarers has operations in over 200 ports around the world. In over 120 of these ports, the Mission has seafarers' centres - known as Flying Angel Centres, or Flying Angel Clubs - which offer communications facilities and rest and relaxation areas, and in some cases, accommodation. Sometimes, seafarers' centres are provided in ecumenical partnership with other organisations such as the Apostleship of the Sea. The rest of the charity's presence is made up of part-time or full-time chaplains, who offer on board support services to seafarers.
