The first digit of a road's number should be the number of the zone it occupies. If the road occupies multiple zones, then the furthest-anticlockwise zone is the correct one. The following tables list all British roads which are anomalously numbered.

Once a sign convention has been chosen, it has to be maintained for the whole structure. The traditional engineer's sign convention is not used in the calculations of the moment distribution method although the results can be expressed in the conventional way. In the BMD case, the left side moment is clockwise direction and other is anticlockwise direction so the bending is positive and is called sagging.

Annually in October, The Festival of Sidecars takes place. No solo machines compete, but sidecars of all categories are entered, including three-wheelers such as those made by the Morgan Motor Company. Summit trig point, with Black Combe on left horizon Caw is a hill in Cumbria, England, near the village of Seathwaite above the Duddon Valley, reaching and having a trig point at the summit (OS grid SD231945). It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. His anticlockwise route from Seathwaite returns over Pikes at and Green Pikes at .

Sinistral and dextral, in some scientific fields, are the two types of chirality ("handedness") or relative direction. The terms are derived from the Latin words for "left" (sinister) and "right" (dexter). Other disciplines use different terms (such as dextro- and laevo-rotary in chemistry, or clockwise and anticlockwise in physics) or simply use left and right (as in anatomy). Relative direction and chirality are distinct concepts.

Playing toguz korgool Players move alternately. A move consists of taking stones from a hole and distributing them to other holes. On his/her turn, a player takes all the stones of one of his holes, which is not a tuz (see below), and distributes them anticlockwise, one by one, into the following holes. Boundary stone on Heughscar Hill, Ullswater in distance Heughscar Hill is a hill in the east of the English Lake District, east of Ullswater and north of High Street, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches and Wainwright's route is an anticlockwise circuit starting at Askham. He describes it as "A gem for aged fellwalkers"'.

The relics in the Central Zone are characterised by an anticlockwise p-T-evolution, at ca. 2.55 Ga. In the NMZ repeated crustal remelting and intrusion of charnoenderbitic magmas continued to 2.58 Ga, producing counterclockwise p-T paths. In contrast the SMZ consists of medium to high pressure granulites, which underwent a clockwise p-T-evolution at ca. 2.69 Ga, followed by decompression and isobaric cooling.

The eastern half of the list circles the Mediterranean neatly anticlockwise from south to north or, in continental terms, from Africa, through Asia, to Europe. The arrangement of the western half is less tidy, though it is approximately anticlockwise from north to south, or from Europe to Africa. Theodor Mommsen had dated the provincial situation in the list to 297, but later research changed the estimate to 314–324 for the Eastern Half and 303–314 for the Western Half of the Roman empire. The Birmingham SuperPrix circuit was laid down on public roads, just to the south of Birmingham City Centre. Slightly unusually the circuit ran anticlockwise. The start-finish straight was in the southbound lane of Bristol Street, the A38 road. The pit area was located on the forecourt of the Bristol Street Motors Ford dealership, with garaging for teams and cars housed in a multi-storey car park adjacent.

State Highway 78 begins at State Highway 1 just north of the CBD. It follows Sefton Street East for to Stafford Street, where it becomes the Port Loop Road. The road then proceeds northeast over the South Island Main Trunk Railway, before turning anticlockwise around a loop, passing under itself parallel to the railway line. The highway terminates at the intersection of Port Loop Road with Marine Parade.

The origin corresponds to the point on which the observer is fixating. The polar angle is considered to be zero degrees when a locus is horizontally to the right of the fixation point and to increase to a maximum of 360 degrees going anticlockwise. Distance from the origin is given in degrees of visual angle; it's a measure of eccentricity. Each polar axis is a meridian of the visual field.

The village is served by Marple station on the Hope Valley line between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield. The village has several bus services running through it. The most regular services run on a Stockport circular route to Romiley and Bredbury (383 anticlockwise) and to Marple and Offerton (384 clockwise). There is also an hourly 394 service to Glossop in Derbyshire and Stepping Hill Hospital in the other direction.

The start and finish are located behind the pavilion building and are a short walk from the car park. The course follows the perimeter of two Clifton playing fields and alongside Fairham Brook. The route is run mainly on grass and consists of two full anticlockwise laps of the perimeter and a further short lap of part of the large playing field. Boat How Boat How is a hill in the English Lake District, near Boot, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches and Wainwright describes an anticlockwise circuit from Boot. He says: "Its proliferation of ancient remains makes it a happy hunting ground for walkers with an eye for relics of days long past", mentioning the presence of four stone circles.

In 1966 Sir Fred Hoyle examined the arguments in favour of an astronomical purpose for the holes and concluded that the 28 day lunar cycle could still have been indicated by moving a marker stone representing the moon anticlockwise by two holes every day, ending up with 56 holes in total. By moving another marker anticlockwise two holes every 13 days, which represented the Sun, an annual journey around the circle could also be made. Two further marker stones would also have had to be moved round 3 holes per year to represent the points where the moon (or rather its marker) crossed the Sun marker's path. Hoyle proved that this could have been used to produce a much more reliable method of predicting eclipses as whenever the moon and sun markers are directly opposite each other and the other two stones occupy those same opposing points, an eclipse can be guaranteed.

The earliest geological units found in the Western Block are formed in Neoarchean , when the major crustal accretion and reworking took place. The Neoarchean rocks in the Precambrian basement are mainly composed of greenstones, high-grade metamorphic rocks and granitoids. Mineral examinations show an isobaric cooling-type anticlockwise pressure-temperature (P-T) path, indicating there were intrusions and underplating events during the crustal growth in Neoarchean.Jin, W., Li, S.X., Liu, X.S. (1991).

In addition, many scripting languages, such as Perl, include the C-style `atan2(y, x)` function. The single-argument arctangent function cannot distinguish between diametrically opposite directions. Wainwright's route is an ascent from Bothel via the northern summit St. John's Hill at St John's Hill is listed in the index to Wainwright's book, but is not mentioned on the first page of the chapter as is his convention for named or nameless summits. Source for height of St. John's Hill in an anticlockwise circuit. There are traces of a 1st-century AD Roman fort to the east of the summit.

For an ocean current with a typical speed of , the radius of an inertial circle is . These inertial circles are clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere (where trajectories are bent to the right) and anticlockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. If the rotating system is a parabolic turntable, then f is constant and the trajectories are exact circles. On a rotating planet, f varies with latitude and the paths of particles do not form exact circles.

Within about a kilometre of this point are streams whose waters make it to Linlithgow, Larbert and Kirkintilloch on their way to their destinations. The next tributary is the Garbethill Burn near Jawhills followed by the Rashiehill Burn. The next tributary, near Slamannan, is the Culloch Burn which also starts in Longriggend but takes a more easterly course initially. The Culloch Burn flows anticlockwise round Slamannan and joins the Avon just to the north.

A race day fixture might take in up to two, three or more matches. In a team event, the winning team is the one with most points at the end of the day. State Highway 8 is one of New Zealand's eight national highways. The small and dry island is located about 700 m southwest from the shores of Antiparos. England was almost entirely contained within the Avalonian block, as shown in the map, and thus shares its geolocation chronology. In the early Cambrian, the supercontinent Pannotia broke up and Avalonia drifted off northwards from Gondwana. This independent movement of Avalonia started from a latitude of about 60° South. The eastern end of Avalonia collided with Baltica, a continental plate occupying the latitudes from about 30°S to 55°S, as the latter slowly rotated anticlockwise towards it.

The complex junction offers multiple paths between feeder roads. The outer circle carries traffic in a clockwise direction, like a normal roundabout (in places where traffic drives on the left hand side of the road), and less proficient users may choose to use only the outer circle. The Distillery Loop is at the southern end of the Cherry Street streetcar line, which has a junction with the King Street line at its northern end. The stronger the force from the Coriolis effect, the faster the wind spins and picks up additional energy, increasing the strength of the hurricane. Air within high-pressure systems rotates in a direction such that the Coriolis force is directed radially inwards, and nearly balanced by the outwardly radial pressure gradient. As a result, air travels clockwise around high pressure in the Northern Hemisphere and anticlockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.

In one with anticlockwise (or counterclockwise) rotation, the force acts to the right. Deflection of an object due to the Coriolis force is called the Coriolis effect. Though recognized previously by others, the mathematical expression for the Coriolis force appeared in an 1835 paper by French scientist Gaspard-Gustave de Coriolis, in connection with the theory of water wheels. Early in the 20th century, the term Coriolis force began to be used in connection with meteorology.

As HMS Investigator was commencing its anticlockwise circumnavigation, a French expedition under Nicolas Baudin was exploring the coastline in a clockwise direction. The two expeditions famously encountered each other in 1802 at what would be named Encounter Bay in South Australia, then Baudin continued westward, arriving at King George Sound in February 1803. There, botanist Jean Baptiste Leschenault de la Tour, assisted by gardener's boy Antoine Guichenot, collected plant specimens including A. cuneatus, A. obovatus and A. sericeus.

The Sun follows a right-to-left trajectory through the northern sky unlike the left-to-right motion of the Sun when seen from the Northern Hemisphere as it passes through the southern sky. Sun-cast shadows turn anticlockwise throughout the day and sundials have the hours increasing in the anticlockwise direction. During solar eclipses viewed from a point to the south of the Tropic of Capricorn, the Moon moves from left to right on the disc of the Sun (see, for example, photos with timings of the solar eclipse of November 13, 2012), while viewed from a point to the north of the Tropic of Cancer (i.e.

The crustal thinning associated with the transtensional rifting process led to HT/LP metamorphism in the North Pyrenean Zone, its onset being dated at about 108 million years ago.

It is a climbing herbaceous plant growing to 2–4 m tall, with stems that twine anticlockwise. The leaves are spirally arranged, heart-shaped, up to 10 cm long and 8 cm broad, with a petiole up to 5 cm long. It is dioecious, with separate male and female plants. The flowers are individually inconspicuous, greenish-yellow, 3–6 mm diameter, with six petals; the male flowers produced in slender 5–10 cm racemes, the female flowers in shorter clusters.

The Hertfordshire Way is a circular walk around the County of Hertfordshire, England. The total length is which was originally fully waymarked in the anticlockwise direction but is now waymarked in both directions. One section has two optional routes reducing the possible length to . The walk is mainly in open countryside, some less than 20 miles from central London, but also passes through the historic city of St Albans, the County town of Hertford and the towns of Royston and Bishop’s Stortford.

The race is due to be held on a temporary street circuit on the streets of Hanoi. The circuit, going anticlockwise, is being designed by Hermann Tilke in collaboration with City of Hanoi authorities. The circuit will initially feature a hybrid of public roads and a purpose-built section which will later be opened to the public. Satellite imagery the next day indicated that the system had developed an eye, and it passed within of Futuna. Raja reached hurricane strength on 26 December, as it slowed and began to interact with what would become Severe Tropical Cyclone Sally. Scout Scar "The Mushroom": memorial shelter on Scout Scar Limestone vegetation on Scout Scar Scout Scar, also called Underbarrow Scar, is a hill in the English Lake District, west of Kendal, Cumbria and above the village of Underbarrow. It reaches . Scout Scar is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland, but the summit he describes is a lower summit at , 270m south of the highest point. Wainwright's anticlockwise recommended route also includes Cunswick Scar at .

This line is called Cantlie's line. Other anatomical landmarks include the ligamentum venosum and the round ligament of the liver, which further divide the left side of the liver in two sections. An important anatomical landmark, the porta hepatis, divides this left portion into four segments, which can be numbered starting at the caudate lobe as I in an anticlockwise manner. From this parietal view, seven segments can be seen, because the eighth segment is only visible in the visceral view.

The Ellsworth–Whitmore Mountains (EWM) is the innermost of the four or five allochthonous terranes, or tectonic blocks, that form West Antarctica. EWM was located in an embayment off Natal, South Africa, before the break-up of Gondwana during which it was rotated 90° anticlockwise. The EWM is named for the Ellsworth and Whitmore mountain ranges. The EWM was deformed during Gondwanan Late Permian–Late Jurassic orogenic events and is underlain by Grenvillan crust that much older than the amalgamation of Gondwana.

Throughout the day Thameslink provide a typical service of 2 trains per hour to St Albans City via Wimbledon (clockwise around the loop) and 2 trains per hour to Sutton (anticlockwise). Services to Sutton then continue on to St Albans City via Mitcham Junction. In addition, Southern operate a limited service to London Bridge via Wimbledon and Tooting during the early evening peak. The station exit is adjacent to the third carriage for southbound trains, and to carriage six for northbound trains.

Four mice In mathematics, the mice problem is a continuous pursuit-evasion problem in which a number of mice (or insects, dogs, missiles, etc.) are considered to be placed at the corners of a regular polygon. In the classic setup, each then begins to move towards its immediate neighbour (clockwise or anticlockwise). The goal is often to find out at what time the mice meet. The most common version has the mice starting at the corners of a unit square, moving at unit speed.

The black-breasted buttonquail forages on the ground in large areas of thick leaf litter in vine forest, and thickets of vines or lantana. Leaves fall on these areas year-round. A covey of birds scrapes out up to 100 plate-shaped shallow feeding sites, though between 10 and 40 is more usual. The buttonquail makes these by scratching at the ground with alternate legs in a circular pattern moving either clockwise or anticlockwise, creating the 20 cm depression and pecking for invertebrates in the exposed ground.

Its simple wheel train turned a dial marked on the margin with a scale of 24 equal hours and 10-minute intervals. The dial rotated anticlockwise against a fixed pointer, showing mean time, and could be adjusted if necessary by intervals of 10 minutes of time by sliding out a pinion of 12 teeth that meshed with the 144 teeth of the main dial.

Lothian-branded services are the core of the Lothian Buses group. There are some core services in the Lothian network that have followed more or less the same route since they were operated by trams in the 1950s, like services 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 16. However, the routes and timetables of most services are frequently modified in minor ways. For example, in recent years several confusing details such as letter suffixed routes and clockwise/anticlockwise circular services have been removed from the map.

The severe heat wave in Pakistan was also exacerbated by Vayu. The anticlockwise rotation of the cyclone's wind field caused typical cool onshore winds to be replaced by hot winds from the desert to the north. Bingham Loop is a station and turning loop at the eastern terminus of the 503 Kingston Rd streetcar lines of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). It lies between Victoria Park Avenue and Bingham Avenue, just north of Kingston Road in Toronto. Streetcars loop anticlockwise from Victoria Park Avenue and stop on the south side of the platform, while buses enter in the other direction from Bingham Avenue and stop on the north side. The island platform is covered by a one-piece long canopy.

According to the beliefs of the time, the threads on these fabrics had to be spun in the form of an "S" in an anticlockwise direction. This thread, which had a magical character, was called lloque and, according to legend, the garments were infused with supernatural powers and served as protection in the afterlife. Feathers were inserted into a main thread which was then sewn onto the fabric. The Chancay also manufactured dolls and other objects covered with pieces of woven fabric and various threads.

According to some sources, the wild haggis's left and right legs are of different lengths (cf. Sidehill gouger or Dahu), allowing it to run quickly around the steep mountains and hillsides which make up its natural habitat, but only in one direction. It is further claimed that there are two varieties of haggis, one with longer left legs and the other with longer right legs. The former variety can run clockwise around a mountain (as seen from above) while the latter can run anticlockwise.

The plane of the wheels is flat, and the motors are set to run at slightly different speeds. This means the ball will spin about an axis perpendicular to the ground, causing it to swing due to the Magnus effect. If the ball is spinning anticlockwise (looking from above) the ball will swing from right to left; clockwise spin results in a swing from left to right. This means that if the coach slows down the wheel on one side, ball will swing in that direction.

Typically, positive angles represent rotations toward the positive y-axis, and negative angles represent rotations toward the negative y-axis. When Cartesian coordinates are represented by standard position, defined by the x-axis rightward and the y-axis upward, positive rotations are anticlockwise, and negative rotations are clockwise. In many contexts, an angle of −θ is effectively equivalent to an angle of "one full turn minus θ". The monument on Latterbarrow Latterbarrow is a hill in the English Lake District, east of Hawkshead, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches and is surmounted by a monument, but Wainwright, unusually, makes no comment on the monument's age or purpose, merely mentioning this "... elegant obelisk being prominently in view from Hawkshead and the Ambleside district." He recommends an anticlockwise circuit from Colthouse, near Hawkshead, and describes it as "a circular walk needing little effort yet yielding much delight".

When the control is at the anticlockwise end, the pulse width is very high (pulse output stays high for most of the cycle) and the sloped output is an upward sawtooth wave. At the clockwise end, the pulse width is very low (pulse output stays low for most of the cycle) and the sloped output is a downward sawtooth wave. At midway, the pulse width is 50% (pulse output is a square wave) and the sloped output is a triangle wave. The pulse output is available through the patch panel.

Click for animation. Lagrangian points are the constant-pattern solutions of the restricted three-body problem. For example, given two massive bodies in orbits around their common barycenter, there are five positions in space where a third body, of comparatively negligible mass, could be placed so as to maintain its position relative to the two massive bodies.

Each bid is a number, and the highest bidder undertakes that his or her side will win in tricks at least the number of points bid. When you stand at the soccer field of Ojapi Primary School, the ranges anticlockwise from Mt. Liru include Kodro, Gala, Kadri, Adrofiya and Njeke (or Njakai). On the south side of Ojapi as you move from Oliapi Primary School to Orani (which also has a rock named after the place), you will see Adada and Luturujo (which translates as The House of/ on a Hill). Despite all these rocks, the farmlands are very productive and agriculture is the predominant economic activity. Crops grown include maize, cassava, ground nut, soya, coffee and beans.

At that time the second half of the single line would sail along the leeward side of the first. As they sailed, the wind could be anywhere on the weather side, from bow to stern. It could not be from a disallowed direction. If, reasoned Nelson, the enemy fleet was first seen to windward, it was probably extended so that the van (front) could not help whatever was behind it. Such a scenario implies the enemy stretched across Nelson’s port bow quarter moving anticlockwise, but he did not know where the wind would be.

Nevertheless, the summit has wide views to High Pike to the south, and to the Solway Firth and beyond to Scotland to the north. Wainwright's recommended route, "to make a worthwhile walk", is an anticlockwise circuit from Caldbeck, mostly on minor roads. The fell is largely covered by heather, and there is a small abandoned quarry just to the east of the summit. Prominently seen from the summit are two broadcasting antennas to the north, which lie just outside the Lake District National Park boundary, which passes just north of Faulds Brow.

Humber Loop consists of two separate anticlockwise loops, one loop turns cars coming from the east via the Queensway, the other turns cars coming from the west via Lake Shore Boulevard. It is a turnback point for streetcars on the 501 Queen from Neville Park Loop and Long Branch Loop, located south of the Queensway, just west of the Humber River. The loops are on a section of a private right-of-way that connects tracks on the Queensway to the east and Lake Shore Boulevard to the west.

The hour numbers also run in opposite directions, so on a horizontal dial they run anticlockwise (US: counterclockwise) rather than clockwise. Sundials which are designed to be used with their plates horizontal in one hemisphere can be used with their plates vertical at the complementary latitude in the other hemisphere. For example, the illustrated sundial in Perth, Australia, which is at latitude 32 degrees South, would function properly if it were mounted on a south-facing vertical wall at latitude 58 (i.e. 90-32) degrees North, which is slightly further North than Perth, Scotland.

When force is applied to the piston, it pushes down; at the same time, the outer corners of the rhomboid push out. They push on two cranks/flywheels which cause them to rotate, each in opposite directions. As the wheels rotate the rhombus progresses its change of shape from being flattened in the direction of the piston axis at top dead centre to being flattened in the perpendicular direction to the piston axis at bottom dead centre. In the pictured example the left crank/flywheel turns clockwise and the right crank/flywheel anticlockwise.

The borough shares a long boundary with Greater London—the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to the north, with which the border is formed by the Thames itself, and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames to the east. Running anticlockwise from the northwest, Elmbridge borders the Surrey boroughs of Spelthorne, Runnymede, Woking, Guildford and Mole Valley. Elmbridge is almost entirely within the bounds of the M25 motorway. There is only one civil parish, Claygate,Surrey County Council while the remainder of the area has two rather than three tiers of local government.

The circuit had been included on the calendar, but was cancelled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The circuit, going anticlockwise, is located next to the Mỹ Đình National Stadium and consists of a temporary street section and a purpose-built layout that will be open to the public once completed. It also features one of the longest straights on the calendar at in length. The purpose-built section draws inspiration from several existing circuits including the Circuit de Monaco, Suzuka Circuit, Sepang International Circuit and the Nürburgring "GP-Strecke".

Any direction can be the reference vector, as long as it is clearly defined. Quite commonly, azimuths or compass bearings are stated in a system in which either north or south can be the zero, and the angle may be measured clockwise or anticlockwise from the zero. For example, a bearing might be described as "(from) south, (turn) thirty degrees (toward the) east" (the words in brackets are usually omitted), abbreviated "S30°E", which is the bearing 30 degrees in the eastward direction from south, i.e. the bearing 150 degrees clockwise from north.

The water circulation is primarily wind driven. Gordon's Bay is in the wind shadow of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains for south easterly winds, and this causes a semi-permanent anticyclonic eddy and associated anticlockwise gyre, in the opposite direction to the usual cyclonic circulation of the main part of the bay. In the summer to early autumn (January–March), cold water upwelling near Cape Hangklip causes a strong surface temperature gradient between the south- western and north-eastern corners of the bay. In winter the surface temperature tends to be much the same everywhere.

In mathematics, the azimuth angle of a point in cylindrical coordinates or spherical coordinates is the anticlockwise angle between the positive x-axis and the projection of the vector onto the xy-plane. The angle is the same as an angle in polar coordinates of the component of the vector in the xy-plane and is normally measured in radians rather than degrees. As well as measuring the angle differently, in mathematical applications theta, θ, is very often used to represent the azimuth rather than the representation of symbol phi φ.

At all other times services operate as shuttles to and from Dandenong, connecting with a Pakenham line train. Weekday morning and weekend services run anticlockwise through the City Loop, while weekday afternoon services run clockwise. The only freight traffic was cement traffic from Waurn Ponds near Geelong to Lyndhurst, this ended in 2009 after Pacific National increased the costs charged to Blue Circle Southern. In September 2019, Qube Holdings commenced operating a daily service on a short section of the line hauling containerised cemen to the Kimberly-Clark siding at Dandenong South.

If they move clockwise, the sun will be in the south at midday, and if they move anticlockwise, then the sun will be in the north at midday. Because of the Earth's axial tilt, no matter what the location of the viewer, there are only two days each year when the sun rises precisely due east. These days are the equinoxes. On all other days, depending on the time of year, the sun rises either north or south of true east (and sets north or south of true west).

Hesk Fell from the cairn on The Pike Hesk Fell is a hill in the south-west of the English Lake District, between the Duddon Valley and Eskdale near Ulpha, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches and Wainwright's route, an anticlockwise circuit from the Birker Fell road, also visits The Pike at . Wainwright admits that the fell "has many shortcomings" and that the view of Scafell Pike and its neighbours is "the only reward for the ascent".

Practically all trekkers hike the route anticlockwise, as this way the daily altitude gain is slower, and crossing the high Thorong La pass is easier and safer. In addition to the Annapurna Circuit Trek, Annapurna Seven Passes Trek or Annapurna Seven Hills trek is also popular in the region. However, this is less traversed and is off the beaten path trek in the region. The mountain scenery, seen at close quarters includes the Annapurna Massif (Annapurna I-IV), Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, and Paungda Danda.

In order to control the rotozoan and navigate within the ooze, the player is given a default option to use the Wii Remote controller, holding it in a horizontal position. The direction pad is used to move the rotozoan in any direction, while pressing the 1 and 2 buttons will respectively spin the rotozoan anticlockwise and clockwise. Alternatively, the Wii Classic Controller can be used instead of the Wii Remote. The Classic Controller offers the player greater precision, as the controller's left and right analogue sticks are supported for both movement and rotation.

To be able to analyze systems with poles on the imaginary axis, the Nyquist Contour can be modified to avoid passing through the point 0+j\omega. One way to do it is to construct a semicircular arc with radius r \to 0 around 0+j\omega, that starts at 0 + j (\omega-r) and travels anticlockwise to 0 + j (\omega+ r). The metamorphic event has an anticlockwise pressure-temperature-time path with nearly isobaric cooling. The anti-clockwise path indicates the metamorphism is related to the intrusion of magma within the Earth's crust. During prograde and peak metamorphism, temperature and pressure are increased and a large amount of mafic material is added to the crust, whereas after the peak metamorphism, the intrusion of magma stops, resulting in isobaric cooling. Structurally, these Late Neoarchean rocks are dome-shaped, for example, the Jinzhou dome in southern Liaoning and the Huadian dome in southern Jilin.

Retrieved 21 March 2020 Adjacent parishes are Pencombe with Grendon Warren at the north, Much Cowarne at the south-east, Stoke Lacy at the east, and Ullingswick at the west anticlockwise to the south-east. The parish is rural, of farms, arable and pasture fields, managed woodland and coppices, water courses, isolated and dispersed businesses, residential properties, and the nucleated settlement of Little Cowarne village.

Some cylinder valve models have axial spindles - in line with the cylinder axis, and are not handed. Standard side-spindle valves have the valve knob on the diver's right side when back-mounted. Side-spindle valves used with manifolds must be a handed pair - one with the knob to the right and the other with the knob to the left, but in all cases the valve is opened by turning the knob anticlockwise, and closed by turning it clockwise. This is the convention with almost all valves for all purposes.

Holy Week Services are especially solemn and are the highlight of the Orthodox Church calendar. The Good Friday evening service, which is officiated by the Assistant Bishop to Archbishop Nikandros of Dorylaeon, includes an anticlockwise procession on the streets with an epitaph being carried from the church at approximately 9:30 p.m. Police accompany the clergy and crowd for the entire procession, and close down the southbound lanes of South Road while the crowds walk behind the clergy and the epitaph. Each coil leg contains several bends before reaching the outside of the armature to be able to pass radially through the ferrite ring before the ends finish 90 degree apart. At the outer edge each copper strip has a crimp forming an electrical connection to its companion 90 degrees rotated. The inner edge of the copper strips have the insulation removed on the front face only, to form the commutator surface where the brushes make contact.

The clockwise traffic uses Infirmary Road and then Oxford Street, passing by Leicester Royal Infirmary and De Montfort University, whilst anticlockwise traffic uses Welford Road and Newark Street. West of the city centre, the two roads merge into the dual carriageway Vaughan Way. Just north of this is Saint Nicholas Circle, providing access into the old town and western retail core, and also west to the nearby bridge over the River Soar. Southgates Underpass provides access for traffic going straight on at Saint Nicholas Circle, and joins up with Vaughan Way again at the north.

Road races were held on public streets around Mugello from the 1920s. Giuseppe Campari won there in 1920 and 1921, and Emilio Materassi took victories in 1925, 1926 and 1928. The Mugello GP was revived in 1955 and from the 1964 to 1969 as a Targa Florio-like road race consisting of eight laps of 66.2 km each, including the Passo della Futa. The anticlockwise track passed the towns of San Piero a Sieve, Scarperia, Violla, Firenzuola, Selva, San Lucia. It counted towards the 1965, 1966 and 1967 World Sportscar Championship season.

Since they can now store less "right roll" forward angular momentum, they will have to release some back into the spacecraft, which will be forced to start an unwanted roll to the right. The only remedy for this loss of control is to desaturate the CMGs by removing the excess angular momentum from the spacecraft. The simplest way of doing this is to use Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters. In our example of saturation along the forward axis, the RCS will be fired to produce an anticlockwise torque about that axis.

The ocean's currents are mainly controlled by the monsoon. Two large gyres, one in the northern hemisphere flowing clockwise and one south of the equator moving anticlockwise (including the Agulhas Current and Agulhas Return Current), constitute the dominant flow pattern. During the winter monsoon (November–February), however, circulation is reversed north of 30°S and winds are weakened during winter and the transitional periods between the monsoons. The Indian Ocean contains the largest submarine fans of the world, the Bengal Fan and Indus Fan, and the largest areas of slope terraces and rift valleys.

However, a rotation of −45° would not be the same as a rotation of 315°. In three-dimensional geometry, "clockwise" and "anticlockwise" have no absolute meaning, so the direction of positive and negative angles must be defined relative to some reference, which is typically a vector passing through the angle's vertex, and which is perpendicular to the plane in which the rays of the angle lie. In navigation, bearings are measured relative to north. By convention, viewed from above, bearing angle are positive clockwise, so a bearing of 45° corresponds to a north-east orientation.

The fours record was set 16 August 1995 at 7 hours 54 minutes. Two rowers from Southampton ARC (Chris Bennett and Roger Slaymaker) set the two-man record in July 2003 at 8 hours 34 minutes, and in 2005 Gus McKechnie of Coalporters Rowing Club became the first adaptive rower to row around, completing a clockwise row. The route around the island is about and usually rowed anticlockwise. Even in good conditions, it includes a number of significant obstacles such as the Needles and the overfalls at St Catherine's Point.

The spiral box search pattern An underwater spiral box search is a search procedure conducted by a diver swimming around a starting point on a pattern based on compass directions and increasing distances. The pattern resembles an outward spiral with straight sides and equal distances between legs swum on the same bearing. The legs are normally swum with 90 degree change in direction between them, and very often the cardinal directions are used for ease of navigation. The spiral may be clockwise or anticlockwise, and in theory there is no limit to the area which can be covered.

The distance and total ascent between any two points, in either direction, can be obtained from The South West Coast Path Association Distance Reckoner. A survey carried out in 1999 and 2000 found that at that time the path had 2,473 signposts or waymarks, and included 302 bridges, 921 stiles, and 26,719 steps. In practice, any such calculation is soon out of date because of path diversions due to landslips or access changes.

Two other anticlockwise snails were discovered and sent to the university; however, these two snails mated with each other instead, producing 170 right-coiled 'normal' snails. One of the left-coiled snails later mated with Jeremy, producing 56 offspring, all of which were also 'normal' with right-coiling shells. It is believed that the genetic mutation might reappear in a later generation due to a recessive gene. In snails, shell-coiling direction is thought to be an example of a maternal effect - a trait that is determined not by an organism's own genotype, but by the genotype of its mother.

Later, when Preston became part of Brighton, Dyke Road formed the border between the Boroughs of Hove and Brighton. The centre of Brighton is about 1.2 miles (2 km) to the southeast, and central Hove lies to the southwest. Anticlockwise from the south, the boundaries of Prestonville are defined as Seven Dials, Chatham Place, Howard Place, the Brighton Main Line between Brighton and Preston Park stations, Tivoli Crescent North and Dyke Road. Old Shoreham Road, a major road at the southern end of Prestonville, formed the northern boundary of Brighton Borough, and therefore the boundary between Brighton and Preston parishes, until 1873.

Data travels from node to node, with each node along the way handling every packet. Rings can be unidirectional, with all traffic travelling either clockwise or anticlockwise around the ring, or bidirectional (as in SONET/SDH). Because a unidirectional ring topology provides only one pathway between any two nodes, unidirectional ring networks may be disrupted by the failure of a single link.

Part of the TTC's 5-year service plan and 10-year outlook reports published in 2020 show route 501 Queen split into 2 sections: 501A streetcars would operate between the existing eastern terminus at Neville Park and Sunnyside loop, while 501B streetcars would operate between the existing western terminus at Long Branch and a new loop near Broadview Ave.

Anticlockwise loop northeast of McCaul Street and Stephanie Street, western terminus of the 502 Downtowner and a turnback point for the 501 Queen in either direction. Streetcars both ways on Queen can turn north onto McCaul and then can turn into the loop, exiting onto McCaul southbound to return to Queen either eastbound or westbound. The loop was originally in the open air, but was covered when the Village by the Grange mixed-use development was built over it in 1976.A Brief History of McCaul Loop The minimum radius of curvature for this loop is .

A border marker between Vera de Bidasoa and Biriatou Following the provisions of the treaties of Bayonne, the border is physically marked on the ground by 602 cairns showing the division between the two countries. These markers are numbered from west to east: one located on the Bidasoa and the last in Cap Cerbere, marked with consecutive numbers and letters. Another 45 cairns mark the border around Llivia; they are numbered anticlockwise from the number 1 at the entrance of the French road RD-68 in the enclave. Maintaining this signaling runs either on behalf of both states.

The practice is popular in the Catholic Church as an act of both penance and charity. In addition, the Methodist church teaches that the works of mercy are a means of grace which lead to holiness and aid in sanctification.

The method gained wide recognition when Jules Verne used a turning grille as a plot device in his novel Mathias Sandorf, published in 1885. Verne had come across the idea in Fleissner's treatise Handbuch der Kryptographie which appeared in 1881. One of the many variations on a Fleissner grille which can be rotated clockwise or anticlockwise. Fleissner Grilles were constructed in various sizes during World War I and were used by the German Army at the end of 1916. Dunnerdale Fells is an upland area in the English Lake District, between Ulpha and Broughton Mills, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. Wainwright's route starts from a minor road on the west of the fell, in the valley of the River Duddon, to reach a cairned summit at , and returns on the same route for part of the way before making a small anticlockwise loop.

Brant Fell, with part of Windermere in the background Brant Fell is a hill in the English Lake District, near Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches . Wainwright's route leaves Bowness along the path of the Dales Way, makes an anticlockwise loop over the viewpoint of Post Knott to the summit, and either returns along the Dales Way or follows a woodland path to Helm Road from where another viewpoint, Biskey Howe, is only a slight detour before continuing down Helm Road to Bowness.

The route is circular and is described anticlockwise from the northernmost point, Pooley Bridge, although it can be walked in either direction from any point, in full or in part. There are connections with buses or boats at several points so the path can be walked as a series of short sections. From Pooley Bridge the walk passes the Iron Age farmstead of Maiden Castle and Watermillock church, with an optional ascent of Gowbarrow Fell, to reach Aira Force. From here to Glenridding the path is close to the lake shore, passing the spot where Wordsworth saw his inspiring daffodils at Glencoyne Deer Park.

The technique is to start at the estimated position of the target, at a distance above the bottom to provide the best view, and to swim in a cardinal direction a distance roughly equal to or slightly greater than the visibility range. The estimate of distance is commonly by kick counts, so using a whole number of kicks is necessary, and preferably a number which can be mentally accumulated by the diver. Call this distance n kicks, where n is usually 2, 4, 5, 10 or 20 as these are easy numbers to multiply mentally. The direction of turn may be clockwise or anticlockwise as best suits the search.

Box Hill has been popular with cyclists since the 1880s and by the 1890s, Dorking Cycle Club was organising camps for amateur cyclists from across the south east of England. The 2012 Summer Olympic cycling road races included mid-race circuits of Box Hill. An estimated 15,000 spectators travelled to the hill on 28 July 2012 to watch the men's race, which included nine circuits and the following day, competitors in the women's race climbed Box Hill twice. The Box Hill Olympic circuit is generally cycled in an anticlockwise direction and begins to the south of the village of Mickleham with an ascent of the hill via the Zig Zag Road.

This is not about Lambert van Haven, since the spire was added to the church almost 50 years after his death, but the designer of the spiral spire, Laurids de Thurah. There is no truth in the myth though, since Thurah died in his bed seven years after the spire was completed, and there is nothing in the records that indicates that he should have been unhappy with his work in any way.

In a three-level diamond interchange, the two main roads are on separate levels, and on a third level, usually in the middle, there is a square of one-way roads. The square circulates clockwise where traffic drives on the left, or anticlockwise where it drives on the right. At each corner of the square is the terminal of an exit ramp from one main road and an entrance ramp to the other main road. At the very beginning of the Mongol Empire, around 1204, Genghis Khan defeated the Naimans and captured a Uyghur scribe called Tata-tonga, who then adapted the Uyghur alphabet—a descendant of the Syriac alphabet, via Sogdian—to write Mongol. Its most salient feature is its vertical direction; it is the only vertical script still in use that is written from left to right. (All other vertical writing systems are written right to left.) McIntyre was lead pilot while Goble, who was Chief of the Air Staff at the time, acted as commander and navigator. The pair took off from Point Cook, Victoria, on 6 April 1924 in a single-engined Fairey IIID floatplane. The Blackburn Outer Circle was a circular service that connected schools, hospitals and leisure opportunities around the edge of the town. It was started by Blackburn Borough Transport in 1980 as the 50 (clockwise) and the 51 (anticlockwise). The Transport Department did not register the service for commercial operation, and after deregulation, it became one of several routes in the area won by GM Buses on a nil tender basis. GM Buses found out that these services were not as profitable as they had imagined and pulled out of the area entirely, on 26 January 1987 the route was returned to Blackburn Transport, who re-instated Leyland Atlantean double-deckers to operate the service.

The formation of the Red Sea – Gulf of Suez rift system was caused by the anticlockwise rotation of the Arabian Plate with respect to the African Plate. This model is consistent with near orthogonal rifting along the entire length of the rift system. Alternative models that suggest initiation by strike-slip faulting and pull-apart basin development along the axis of the rift have not been supported by detailed studies of the rift geometry. Towards the end of the Miocene, the Arabian Plate began to collide with the Eurasian Plate leading to changes in the plate configuration, the development of the Dead Sea Transform and cessation in rifting in the Gulf of Suez.

In plane geometry, and in particular, area surveying, Green's theorem can be used to determine the area and centroid of plane figures solely by integrating over the perimeter.

Crookdale Beck in winter The Crookdale Horseshoe is a group of hills on the eastern edge of the English Lake District, in Cumbria, west of the A6 road. They are the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. Wainwright describes an anticlockwise walk starting along the valley of Crookdale Beck (which joins Borrow Beck before flowing into the River Lune) to reach Lord's Seat (one of several English summits of that name, and also known as High House Fell) at , and returning over Robin Hood at and High House Bank at . As he points out, the ridge forming the northern part of the "horseshoe" is described in his Wasdale Horseshoe chapter.

The next roundabout is Bierley which connects with an Asda supermarket and the Bierley housing estate and is slightly unusual by featuring a cut-through for clockwise traffic. Continuing westwards is the elevated Staygate roundabout which connects with the M606 spur of the M62, and the A6036 to Stump Cross near Halifax. From the M606 clockwise traffic negotiates Staygate roundabout into Mayo Avenue while anticlockwise traffic is diverted past the roundabout to the end of the M606 up a slip road which was once part of Birch Lane into the ring road. At Staygate the road heads north along Mayo Avenue and crosses the A641 Huddersfield to Bradford road at Manchester Road.

Before clocks were commonplace, the terms "sunwise" and "deasil", "deiseil" and even "deocil" from the Scottish Gaelic language and from the same root as the Latin "dexter" ("right") were used for clockwise. "Widdershins" or "withershins" (from Middle Low German "weddersinnes", "opposite course") was used for counterclockwise. The counterclockwise or anticlockwise direction The terms clockwise and counterclockwise can only be applied to a rotational motion once a side of the rotational plane is specified, from which the rotation is observed. For example, the daily rotation of the Earth is clockwise when viewed from above the South Pole, and counterclockwise when viewed from above the North Pole (considering "above a point" to be defined as "farther away from the center of earth and on the same ray").

Intrusions such as hotspots or rifts at mid-ocean ridges commonly produce metamorphic rocks displaying anticlockwise P-T-t paths patterns with near- isobaric cooling P-T trajectories, and the reason is as follow: # During prograde metamorphism until peak, initial heating and compression until reaching a low pressure-high temperature (LPHT) peak is shown, implying an event of heating generated from below and the crust is slightly thickened. New Zealand's situation (like Iceland's) is a small island in a large basin, and the peaks and troughs of the M2 tides sweep continuously anticlockwise around New Zealand. When it is high tide on the west coast, it is low tide on the east coast, and vice versa: the straightforward notion of tidal bulges aligned with the moon is insufficient. It has somewhat better UV resistance, and is more abrasion resistant. Polypropylene is preferred for low cost and light weight (it floats on water) but it has limited resistance to ultraviolet light, is susceptible to friction and has a poor heat resistance. The anticlockwise or counterclockwise direction Widdershins (sometimes withershins, widershins or widderschynnes) is a term meaning to go counter- clockwise, to go anti-clockwise, or to go lefthandwise, or to walk around an object by always keeping it on the left. Literally, it means to take a course opposite the apparent motion of the sun viewed from the Northern Hemisphere (the centre of this imaginary clock is the ground the viewer stands upon). The earliest recorded use of the word, as cited by the Oxford English Dictionary, is in a 1513 translation of the Aeneid, where it is found in the phrase "Abaisit I wolx, and widdersyns start my hair." In this sense, the "to start widdershins" means "to stand on end".

The subway system was constructed as one large circular loop almost long and extends both north and south of the River Clyde. The tracks have the unusual narrow gauge of , and a nominal tunnel diameter of , even smaller than that of the deep-level lines of the London Underground ( at their smallest); the rolling stock is considerably smaller. The system is described as two lines, the Outer Circle and Inner Circle, but this simply refers to the double track, having trains running clockwise and anticlockwise respectively around the same route although in separate tunnels. One of the chapters of Alfred Wainwright's The Outlying Fells of Lakeland is a circular walk anticlockwise around Devoke Water, starting and finishing on the road to the east. He describes the summits Rough Crag at , Water Crag at , White Pike at , Yoadcastle at , Woodend Height at and Seat How at , and says that "it is predominantly for the mountain prospect that this walk gains a strong recommendation", noting that the view from the summits includes Pillar and nearby fells to the north, the Scafell group to the north north east and the Bowfell group to the north east, as well as the Isle of Man and Sellafield power station. He warns that "Linbeck Gill is uncrossable dryshod after rain". All six summits are classified as Birketts.

The horizontal deflection effect is greater near the poles, since the effective rotation rate about a local vertical axis is largest there, and decreases to zero at the equator. Rather than flowing directly from areas of high pressure to low pressure, as they would in a non-rotating system, winds and currents tend to flow to the right of this direction north of the equator (anticlockwise) and to the left of this direction south of it (clockwise). This effect is responsible for the rotation and thus formation of cyclones (see Coriolis effects in meteorology). For an intuitive explanation of the origin of the Coriolis force, consider an object, constrained to follow the Earth's surface and moving northward in the northern hemisphere.

A 90° anticlockwise rotation of the EWM during the Gondwana break-up is supported by palaeomagnetic data from several primary remanences: the Late Cambrian Frazier Ridge Formation and the Nash Hills. The origin of the crustal blocks of West Antarctica and Zealandia remained enigmatic for decades largely because of their locations on the Pacific margin of Gondwana from where they were transported large distances. The EWM formed part of Gondwana's southern margin, Earth's longest and most long-lived active margin. Stretching from South America over South Africa, West Antarctica, Victoria Land, New Zealand, and Eastern Australia, this margin was the location of the -long Terra Australis orogeny that began during the Neoproterozoic break-up of Rodinia and culminated in the closure of the Adamastor and Mozambique oceans.

Starting in the east, with a roundabout, with exits to the east (the A47, and Humberstone Gate to the west), it passes south along St George's Way, until it joins the route of the London Road (the A6), and becomes Waterloo Way for a short distance. It then turns south-west, leaving the railway station on the outer side of the ring-road, and continues south-west, parallel to the railway line, crossing New Walk. Towards the end of this section it nears Leicester Tigers ground, and a section of the old Waterloo Way near this end has been renamed Tigers Way. It is here that the inner ring-road splits, with a one-way system causing clockwise and anticlockwise traffic to take different routes.

Because the full length of the third-base line had to be fitted between the north stand (the original grandstand) and the new south stand, they could no longer be parallel to each other. As a compromise between placements suitable for the two stands, the football field was rotated anticlockwise away from the north stand.Illustration at: Thus, the only seats as close to the field as before were those near the eastern end zone, and no seats had as good a view of the whole field as the centre-field seats before the conversion. Although the Argonauts recorded average attendances of above 40,000 fans per game in the first few seasons following the stadium's expansion, by the mid-1980s average attendance had fallen to fewer than 30,000 fans per game.

Sometimes the sticks were dropped immediately, but on many occasions the G-Cars would circle the scene several times (to the delight of the troops) before the commander made his final decisions. Very often the K-car occupants would see the enemy (or any perceived enemy), and then the Helicopter Gunner/Technician would attack them with his 20 mm cannon, using bursts of two to four shells (but no more than five). The accuracy of this firing was extraordinary, due to the machine flying in tight anticlockwise circles just a few hundred feet above the ground. All Saints church In the village, the Brooks Path is a picturesque causeway along the Loose Stream that joins the two ends of the village, dividing the mill pond which once fed the village mill. All Saints Church in the Diocese of Canterbury, overlooks this section of river. A local tradition has it that whoever sticks a pin in the old yew tree in the churchyard, then runs around it anticlockwise at midnight, will on looking through a small window above the Charlton Memorial against the church wall, see a vision of a woman killing a baby. The Reverend Richard Boys was vicar here and also chaplain of St Helena during Napoleon Bonaparte's exile on the island."Napoleon's chair found in storage", BBC Kent, 6 July 2009 He is buried in the churchyard.

The VN model was introduced to Bob Jane's AUSCAR category in the 1990/91 season. AUSCAR was based on America's NASCAR stock car racing, with the major differences being that the cars were based on the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon road cars and were not pure space frame chassis like NASCAR. AUSCAR's also ran smaller V8 engines (5.0 L compared to 6.0 L) which developed less power, and as the cars are right hand drive, raced clockwise on the ovals tracks (the Jane owned Calder Park Thunderdome and the ½ mile Speedway Super Bowl at the Adelaide International Raceway) whereas the NASCAR's being left hand drive raced anticlockwise. The theory being that the driver was positioned on the side of the car that was furthest from the outside wall.

His boat, the Nephele, a Beneteau First 325, encountered a severe storm 60 miles northwest of Arranmore and 40 miles from Tory Island, off the coast of Ireland, and was overwhelmed but remained afloat. The voyage started on 5 June 2005, from Gillingham, and the severe storm, force 11 on the Beaufort scale, caught him on 3 July 2005. His mayday call was relayed to the Malin Coastguard, and the rescue operation lasted 24 hours.

When the rock is later uplifted, due to the escape of fluids at an earlier stage, there is not enough fluids to permit all the new minerals to react back into the original minerals. Hence, the minerals are not fully in equilibrium when discovered on the surface. Therefore, the mineral assemblages in metamorphic rocks implicitly record the past P-T conditions that the rock has experienced, and investigating these minerals can supply information about the past metamorphic and tectonic history. The P-T-t paths are generally classified into two types: clockwise P-T-t paths, which are related to collision origin, and involve high pressures followed by high temperatures; and anticlockwise P-T-t paths, which are usually of intrusion origin, and involve high temperatures before high pressures.

The GE 7FDM, also known as the GE V228, is a series of marine engines from GE Transportation Systems for propulsion and electric generator usage. Engine model numbers for the 7FDM series of engines take the form of 7FDMXXZYY, where XX is the number of cylinders, Z is the engine series, and YY is an additional differentiator between engines. GE Transportation is now producing 7FDM engines in the "D" and "E" series, which both feature very low NOx emissions, electronic timing, and other state-of-the-art features. The additional YY designation refers to the direction of engine rotation (clockwise or anticlockwise), or other physical attributes of the engine. GE 7FDM engines are available in models from 8-cylinder to 16-cylinder, 900 rpm to 1,050 rpm, and 1,308 kW to 3,052 kW(continuous).

Because the sun played a highly important role in older religions, to go against it was considered bad luck for sun-worshiping traditions. It was considered unlucky in Britain to travel in an anticlockwise (not sunwise) direction around a church, and a number of folk myths make reference to this superstition, e.g. Childe Rowland, where the protagonist and his sister are transported to Elfland after his sister runs widdershins round a church. There is also a reference to this in Dorothy Sayers's novels The Nine Tailors (chapter entitled The Second Course; "He turned to his right, knowing that it is unlucky to walk about a church widdershins...") and Clouds of Witness ("True, O King, and as this isn't a church, there's no harm in going round it widdershins").

It is listed in A. Wainwright's Pictorial Guide to the Outlying Fells, where the author gives an anticlockwise circuit from High Nibthwaite reaching the summit by way of a nameless summit at (actually one of two cairns visited on the western edge of Brock Barrow), Low Light Haw at , High Light Haw at , and returning to the west. This walk is a little over four miles and involves about a thousand feet of climb. Wainwright's location is not the highest point of the fell, being 100m to the west of the true summit and 1m lower.Database of British and Irish Hills The western slopes (named Selside, from which the hill derives its name) are entirely forested, but a path zigzags up the steep fellside from a parking area at grid ref.

As the Earth rotates about its axis, everything attached to it, including the atmosphere, turns with it (imperceptibly to our senses). An object that is moving without being dragged along with the surface rotation or atmosphere such as an object in ballistic flight or an independent air mass within the atmosphere, travels in a straight motion over the turning Earth. From our rotating perspective on the planet, the direction of motion of an object in ballistic flight changes as it moves, bending in the opposite direction to our actual motion. When viewed from a stationary point in space directly above the north pole, any land feature in the Northern Hemisphere turns anticlockwise—and, fixing our gaze on that location, any other location in that hemisphere rotates around it the same way.

The cross product appears in the calculation of the distance of two skew lines (lines not in the same plane) from each other in three-dimensional space. The cross product can be used to calculate the normal for a triangle or polygon, an operation frequently performed in computer graphics. For example, the winding of a polygon (clockwise or anticlockwise) about a point within the polygon can be calculated by triangulating the polygon (like spoking a wheel) and summing the angles (between the spokes) using the cross product to keep track of the sign of each angle. In computational geometry of the plane, the cross product is used to determine the sign of the acute angle defined by three points p_1=(x_1,y_1), p_2=(x_2,y_2) and p_3=(x_3,y_3).

A third console room design was unveiled in the 2012 Christmas special "The Snowmen". This set echoes the machine-like 1980s TARDIS console, but is coloured in the more shadowy blues, greens and purples of the 1996 TV movie. Though the central pillar is still connected to the ceiling – a design element introduced in the 1996 movie, and continued in the 2005 series – it is now joined to three circular connectors marked with Gallifreyan symbols that rotate clockwise and anticlockwise when the TARDIS is in flight. Showrunner Steven Moffat stated that the new design was meant to be more 'scary' and machine-like than the previous bright orange design, which was more 'whimsical' to reflect upon the light-hearted and fairy-tale-like nature of the episodes following its introduction in "The Eleventh Hour".

There is an alternative route around Weymouth and Portland along the South Dorset Downs, which reduces the footpath distance by . Just the loop around the Isle of Portland can be omitted, reducing the journey by . The coast path then heads towards the Isle of Purbeck, via Bat's Head, Swyre Head, Durdle Door—a natural arch which has been described as "one of Dorset's most recognisable features"—and Lulworth Cove, "the most visited geological locality in Britain".

The station is in London fare zone 1. On the District and Circle lines, the station is between Westminster and Temple, and, on the Northern and Bakerloo lines, it is between Charing Cross and Waterloo. The Circle and District lines serve the same platforms at Embankment, but the Bakerloo and Northern lines each have their own platforms. Train frequencies vary throughout the day, but generally District line trains operate every 2–6 minutes from approximately 05:27 to 00:40 eastbound and 05:47 to 00:35 westbound; they are supplemented by Circle line trains every 8–12 minutes from approximately 05:39 to 00:18 clockwise and 05:51 to 00:23 anticlockwise. The SPAD S.VII was designed around Marc Birkigt's Hispano-Suiza engine, and when the new fighter entered service in September 1916 it came armed with a single Vickers gun synchronized with a new gear provided by Birkigt for use with his engine. Unlike most other mechanical gears, the "SPAD gear" as it was often called, did without a pushrod altogether: the firing impulses being transmitted to the gun torsionally by a moving oscillating shaft, which rotated through about a quarter of a revolution, alternately clockwise and anticlockwise. This oscillation was more mechanically efficient than the reciprocating motion of a push rod, permitting higher speeds. Officially known as the Systeme de Synchronisation pour Vickers Type II (moteurs fixes) the Birkigt gear was later adapted to control two guns, and remained in use in French service up to the time of the Second World War.

Since stronger high-pressure systems contain cooler or drier air, the air mass is denser and flows towards areas that are warm or moist, which are in the vicinity of low- pressure areas in advance of their associated cold fronts. The stronger the pressure difference, or pressure gradient, between a high-pressure system and a low-pressure system, the stronger the wind. Thus, stronger areas of low pressure are associated with stronger winds. The Coriolis force caused by the Earth's rotation is what gives winds around low-pressure areas (such as in hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons) their counter-clockwise (anticlockwise) circulation in the northern hemisphere (as the wind moves inward and is deflected right from the center of high pressure) and clockwise circulation in the southern hemisphere (as the wind moves inward and is deflected left from the center of high pressure).

A common procedure is that after the cards have been shuffled, the dealer sets the cards face-down on the table near the player designated to make the cut. This is usually the player to the dealer's right in clockwise games and the player to his left in anticlockwise games. The cutter initiates a cut of the deck by taking a contiguous range of cards off the top of the deck and placing it face-down on the table farther from the dealer; the dealer completes the cut by taking the original bottom portion of the deck and placing it on top of the just-moved cards. Another common procedure is that the person making the cut, places the top part of the cut closer to the dealer, as the deck originally was placed nearer to the cutter.

The main lanes of the anticlockwise carriagway at junction 4 lead to the exit, meaning through ring road traffic must move to the left, in a turn off to stay on arrangement, and then subsequently move back to the right to avoid the junction 3 exit. The section between junctions 4 and 5 is the features the ring road's only concave section, meaning clockwise traffic bears left rather than right. Junction 5 provides access to the southeastern part of the city centre, via the B4544 New Union Street, and also links to a pair of roads heading south towards the suburb of Cheylesmore. Junction 6, the southernmost junction, links to the A429 Warwick Road, signposted for Kenilworth, and is also the exit for the University of Warwick and Coventry railway station, which lies just outside the ring road loop.

Because of the Coriolis effect, falling bodies veer slightly eastward from the vertical plumb line below their point of release, and projectiles veer right in the Northern Hemisphere (and left in the Southern) from the direction in which they are shot. The Coriolis effect is mainly observable at a meteorological scale, where it is responsible for the opposite directions of cyclone rotation in the Northern and Southern hemispheres (anticlockwise and clockwise, respectively). A cluster of CMGs can become saturated, in the sense that it is holding a maximum amount of angular momentum in a particular direction and can hold no more. As an example, suppose a spacecraft equipped with two or more dual-gimbal CMGs experiences a transient unwanted torque, perhaps caused by reaction from venting waste gas, tending to make it roll clockwise about its forward axis and thus increase its angular momentum along that axis. Then the CMG control program will command the gimbal motors of the CMGs to slant the rotors' spin axes gradually more and more forward, so that the angular momentum vectors of the rotors point more nearly along the forward axis. While this gradual change in rotor spin direction is in progress, the rotors will be creating gyroscopic torques whose resultant is anticlockwise about the forward axis, holding the spacecraft steady against the unwanted waste gas torque.
