Numerous changes were made to the engine ancillaries over the years. Early diesel-engined models had an inline electrical fuel heater, which invariably stopped working after a couple of years. The 200Tdi, produced and of torque, which was nearly a 25% improvement on the engine it replaced (although as installed in the Defender the engine was de-tuned slightly from its original Discovery specification due to changes associated with the turbo position and exhaust routing). This engine finally allowed the Defender to cruise comfortably at high speeds, as well as tow heavy loads speedily on hills while still being economical. In theory it only replaced the older Diesel Turbo engine in the range, with the other four-cylinder engines (and the V8 petrol engine) still being available.

Honda started to introduce their third and final round of upgrades ahead of the , focusing on the internal combustion engine and associated exhaust parts with the aim of improving the efficiency of the MGU-H and gradually introducing new parts over the next three rounds. The engine ancillaries were reconfigured to allow for better packaging within the chassis, while the axial compressor was replaced with a more conventional—albeit smaller—design. The exhaust wastegate was also updated ahead of planned development for 2016, with the exhaust outlets reconfigured to improve the engine's power curve. Honda chose to focus on the internal combustion engine instead of directly addressing the problems with the MGU-H as they felt that the problems could not be adequately addressed with their remaining allowance for in-season development, and instead deferred development of the MGU-H until the end of the season when the restrictions on development would be lifted.

Class 111 DMU with twin C6NFLH in each power car Horizontal versions, such as the C6NFLH (H for horizontal), were also produced for railcars and mounted beneath the floor. This engine was not completely horizontal, with the cylinders inclined slightly upwards at 17½°. Wet sump lubrication was used. Many of the ancillaries and servicing points were relocated to what were now the sides of the engine, so that they could be serviced from the sides of the railcar, rather than having to lift out floor panels. The C6NFLH produced 180 bhp at 1,800 rpm. It was used by Metropolitan-Cammell in the Class 111 DMUs of the late 1950s and 1960s, rather than the 150 bhp BUT engines used in earlier classes. Two engines were used for each power car, marshalled into two or three car sets with a power car at each end, giving 720 bhp overall. This extra power was also used for the BRC&WC; 'Calder Valley' sets. An eight- cylinder version, C8NFLH, of 238 bhp at 1,880 rpm was also used. A single unit was used in each power car of the 112 and 113 classes.

Among the Nifty companies, LIC's holding in terms of value in 2012 were estimated to be the highest in ITC (₹27,326 crore), followed by RIL (₹21,659 crore), ONGC (₹17,764 crore), SBI (₹17,058 crore), L&T; (₹16,800 crore), and ICICI Bank (₹10,006 crore). The share price drop in ITC on 18 July 2017 had caused LIC a major loss of around 7000 crores during the financial year. LIC also holds 51% stake in IDBI Bank, making it the only insurer in India to own a bank, since regulations prohibit insurers from holding more than 15% stake in any company, LIC will have to decide a timeline for paring its stake in IDBI bank; also LIC may have to pare its stake in LIC Housing Finance Ltd as a company cannot be the promoter of two finance companies carrying out same housing finance business in India.
