Romney was expressing mock amazement at Wawa's efficiency to underscore how the private sector is often more efficient than government, a point that was not evident without the full context of his remarks.

A second TV debate between the two candidates was held on 28 November, this time aired by Rai 1, the oldest and most popular Italian TV channel, again live and in prime-time. On 4 July 2006, Virginia Vallejo, a television anchorwoman romantically involved with Escobar from 1983 to 1987, offered Attorney General Mario Iguarán her testimony in the trial against former Senator Alberto Santofimio, who was accused of conspiracy in the 1989 assassination of presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán. Not long after her acting debut in Dinosaur Teacher, the teen actress starred in popular TV shows such as Reporting for Duty (1996) and Soonpoong Clinic (1998), while hosting the music program Inkigayo and appearing in numerous commercials (Kim was the first Korean teen star to earn more than from commercial modeling). Because of her preternaturally mature looks and poise, she was often cast in older roles, notably as a manipulative, villainous anchorwoman in All About Eve, which drew a peak viewership rating of 45.2% when it aired in 2000.

He quickly ran into controversy soon after his resignation when he told a CVM- TV anchorwoman to "go to hell" during a live programme; the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and the International Federation of Journalists condemned his outburst, while Jamaican women's groups called on Bruce Golding not to permit Warmington to run in the 4 April by-election. Despite the controversy, the by-election saw Warmington returned to his seat, though Golding declined to reappoint him State Minister for Water and Housing. Warmington faced a bigger challenge later that year in the general elections in December. Redistribution carried out in 2010 had been expected to harm Warmington's chances of re-election: a new seat for Saint Catherine Parish had been added, and the Sydenham division and parts of the Church Pen division, both JLP strongholds which contributed heavily to Warmington's 2007 re- election, were transferred to the new constituency.

Ever since its founding, the channel was viewed as a Fidesz-sympathizer broadcaster due to its owner's background and the political views of its anchors, a viewpoint that was typical until 2015. Several anchors who defined themselves as right-wingers later worked in the political scene: Ákos Krakkó, the Célpont anchor, worked from 2010 as press agent for the Fidesz parliamentary group, and from 2014 as press agent for the Prime Minister's Office; and in 2014, anchorwoman Éva Kurucz became the spokeswoman for Viktor Orbán's third government. In 2015, there was a breakdown in relationships between prime minister Orbán and the owner of Hír TV, Lajos Simicska, who had previously been head of Hungary's internal tax revenue service (APEH) in Orbán's first government; the dispute caused the channel's political stance to be modified. Since September 2015, the channel has been increasingly critical against the government and open to left-wing and right-wing intellectuals and opinions.

Stark is best known for her decades of work as an award-winning financial reporter and anchorwoman, most notably as the Business Correspondent for ABC News. Stark led the network's coverage of business and the economy from 1998-2010, a period that included the Great Recession. Her stories appeared on "ABC World News Tonight" with Peter Jennings and Charles Gibson, "Good Morning America," "This Week" and other ABC News programs. Over the course of her journalism career, Stark won four national Emmy Awards, including a 2005 Business Emmy for her enterprise reporting on “The Broken Pension Promise” and a 2009 Emmy for her contributions to ABC’s team coverage of “The Inauguration of Barack Obama.” She is the winner of two George Foster Peabody Awards, one for her contributions to ABC’s coverage of “9/11” and a second for her participation in ABC 2000 the network’s coverage of the dawn of the new millennium. Her story “Motherhood on Madison Avenue: The Neil French Flap,” exploring sexism in the advertising industry, was honored with a 2006 Gracie Award for hard news features from the Alliance for Women in Media.
