Glen Canyon Dam has two tunnel spillways capable of allowing to bypass the dam's regular spillways. Malchiodi received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the International School for Advanced Studies in 2000 under the supervision of Antonio Ambrosetti. He is a professor of mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore at Pisa. He was previously professor of mathematics at the International School for Advanced Studies and at the University of Warwick. The 10,000 Year Explosion: How Civilization Accelerated Human Evolution is a 2009 book by anthropologists Gregory Cochran and Henry Harpending. The Requirements Modeling Framework (RMF) is an open-source software framework for working with requirements based on the ReqIF standard. RMF consists of a core allowing reading, writing and manipulating ReqIF data, and a user interface allowing to inspect and edit request data. RMF is the first and, currently, the only open-source reference implementation of the ReqIF standards. It also has a higher transformation rate than 3A assembly, and it does not require the involved plasmids to have different antibiotic resistance genes. This method reduces noise from uncut plasmids by amplifying a desired insert using PCR prior to digestion and treating the mixture with the restriction enzyme DpnI, which digests methylated DNA like plasmids. Eliminating the template plasmids with DpnI leaves only the insert to be amplified by PCR.

EnVision's low-eccentricity, near-polar and relatively low altitude orbit offers the opportunity to obtain a high-resolution gravity field at each longitude and latitude of the Venusian globe. The analysis of the gravity field together with the topography gives insights on the lithospheric and crustal structure, allowing to better understand Venus's geological evolution.

On December 16, 2012, the plant operator Nuclenor has begun shutting down the nuclear power plant, which was due to close in mid-2013, to avoid producing taxable power during 2013. The decision was spurred by an impending law, which would impose a tax in the annual sum of about €150 million. The safety upgrades required for extension of the operation would have cost some €120 million. The most common source of energy data for energy baseline calculation is utility invoices. Some softwares allow to extract the energy data directly from the pdf of the utility invoices, allowing to speed up the process considerably.

It consisted in a pneumatic system with a series of air tubes which activated a mesh of tiles, that each one had a black face and a white face. In February 2011, the Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group published a report about the top 25 species of turtles most likely to become extinct, with a further 40 species at very high risk of becoming extinct. In its native range, the fanned tail is distinctive, allowing to distinguish this species from the freckled duck (Stictonetta naevosa) which has similar size, colouration, and habits. A researcher at the Industrial Materials Research Institute, Alessandro Malutta, devised an experiment that demonstrated the trapping action of ultrasonic standing waves on wood pulp fibers diluted in water and their parallel orienting into the equidistant pressure planes. The time to orient the fibers in equidistant planes is measured with a laser and an electro-optical sensor. This could provide the paper industry a quick on-line fiber size measurement system. The façade seen from the lake The façade of the church is visible from the lake or from the square in front, which now is part of the monastery of Benedictines nuns. It is in Romanesque style, despite the modifications occurred in the 16th century, that include a pronaos and a serliana window on top of it. Napięcie Theatre (Polish: Teatr Napięcie) is a non-institutional theatre established in 2005 in Łódź, Poland, by Łukasz Pięta. Napięcie creates mainly full-length plays allowing to find adjustable equivalent (in moves, words and scenic architecture) to reality influenced by dreams and brain/body weaknesses. Since 2007 they have worked on utilizing subliminal effects and signals on theatre scene. Since October 2008 NT have organized a series of theatrical actions and events (performances, plays etc.) called Dynamofaza Wittenberga (The Wittenberg's Dynamo-phase), an action which is aimed at creating the so-called ‘counter-theatre’ being a real alternative to unreal, contemporary alternative culture. The authors of NT describe their theatre as ‘a synergetic theatre of imagination movements’.

Latin artist Marc Anthony's self-titled English-language album released in 1999 had singles that crossed over to the AC charts. In a laboratory setting, 3D grain maps using X-rays as a probe can be obtained using laboratory diffraction contrast tomography (LabDCT), a technique derived from 3DXRD.

In 2016, a new approach was described for producing hybrid photovoltaic wafers combining the high efficiency of III-V multi- junction solar cells with the economies and wealth of experience associated with silicon. The technical complications involved in growing the III-V material on silicon at the required high temperatures, a subject of study for some 30 years, are avoided by epitaxial growth of silicon on GaAs at low temperature by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Si single- junction solar cells have been widely studied for decades and are reaching their practical efficiency of ~26% under 1-sun conditions. Increasing this efficiency may require adding more cells with bandgap energy larger than 1.1 eV to the Si cell, allowing to convert short-wavelength photons for generation of additional voltage.

This decision to bind the users of the gun in buying only the company spare parts, certainly made logistic problems as it disabled the compatibility in using that particular magazine directly in Uzi (which cannot be put in the magwell due to the steel insert), or buying the standard 25- or 32-round Uzi magazine on the surplus market to be used as a spare one for XC 900 carbine. Other usable addon to the design is the Picatinny rail, allowing to easily place scopes and other equipment, which was in the original XC troublesome.

Over time, as other discoveries were made, the Freeport Sulphur Company also used the Port Sulphur facility to support their other Frasch Process sulphur mines located at Garden Island Bay, Lake Pelto, and Caillou Island; a land- based mine at Chacahoula; the first offshore sulphur mines at Grand Isle and Caminada Pass; and a large operation 50 miles offshore from the Mississippi River Delta in 300 feet of water, at Main Pass Block 299 in the Gulf of Mexico. The facility was also used to process and ship recovered sulphur obtained by oil and gas refining. The terminal was able to filter and store liquid hot molten sulphur in large insulated heated tanks, and "vat" liquid sulphur into acres of long term dry storage by forming blocks of bright yellow sulphur by spraying molten sulphur into metal forms on the ground and allowing to cool. The site is valuable because of its proximity to sulphur producing areas near the Gulf of Mexico, its docking sites along the Mississippi River and back bay marsh.

Tantalum carbide is widely used as sintering additive in ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) or as a ceramic reinforcement in high- entropy alloys (HEAs) due to its excellent physical properties in melting point, hardness, elastic modulus, thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, and chemical stability, which makes it a desirable material for aircraft and rockets in aerospace industries. Wang et al. have synthesized SiBCN ceramic matrix with TaC addition by mechanical alloying plus reactive hot-pressing sintering methods, in which BN, graphite and TaC powders were mixed with ball-milling and sintered at 1900 °C to obtain SiBCN-TaC composites. For the synthesis, the ball-milling process refined the TaC powders down to 5 nm without reacting with other components, allowing to form agglomerates that are composed of spherical clusters with a diameter of 100nm-200nm. TEM analysis showed that TaC is distributed either randomly in the form of nanoparticles with sizes of 10-20nm within the matrix or distributed in BN with smaller size of 3-5nm. As a result, the composite with 10 wt% addition of TaC improved the fracture toughness of the matrix, reaching 399.5MPa compared to 127.9MPa of pristine SiBCN ceramics.

On 8 October 1842 the Synod deposed Lang for slander – calling the Synod a synagogue of Satan particularly displeased the brethren – divisive courses and contumacy by an 8–4 vote. Ultimately, on 9 September 1851, the Presbytery of Irvine in Scotland declared Lang no longer a minister of the Church of Scotland, but did not tell Lang what was afoot nor give him an opportunity to defend himself.

SYS file is limited to a few kilobytes under MS-DOS/PC DOS (up to 64 KB in most recent versions), whereas the file's size is unlimited under DR-DOS. This is because the former operating systems (since DOS 3.0) will compile the file into some tokenized in-memory representation before they sort and regroup the directives to be processed in a specific order (with device drivers always being loaded before TSRs), whereas DR-DOS interprets the file and executes most directives line-by-line, thereby giving full control over the load order of drivers and TSRs via `DEVICE` and `INSTALL` (for example to solve load order conflicts or to load a program debugger before a device driver to be debugged) and allowing to adapt the user interaction and change the flow through the file based on conditions like processor types installed, any type of keys pressed, load or input errors occurring, or return codes given by loaded software. This becomes particularly useful since `INSTALL` can also be used to run non-resident software under DR- DOS, so that temporary external programs can be integrated into the CONFIG.SYS control flow.

In court, in what must have been quite embarrassing for his political opponents, Su Shi made a confession explaining how his poems were derogatory to his political enemies, in most explicit detail, but pointing out that he was not guilty because he had said nothing and allowed nothing that was directly demeaning of the emperor or the state itself, and that the verses in question merely and legitimately mocked officials who in fairness deserved to have their deficiencies as public servants made public.
