Gantacurium chloride (formerly recognized as GW280430A and as AV430A) is a new experimental neuromuscular blocking drug or skeletal muscle relaxant in the category of non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking drugs, used adjunctively in surgical anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. Gantacurium is not yet available for widespread clinical use: it is currently undergoing Phase III clinical development.

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptor 5\. Mitochondrion Neuromuscular-blocking drugs block neuromuscular transmission at the neuromuscular junction, causing paralysis of the affected skeletal muscles. This is accomplished via their action on the post-synaptic acetylcholine (Nm) receptors. In clinical use, neuromuscular block is used adjunctively to anesthesia to produce paralysis, firstly to paralyze the vocal cords, and permit intubation of the trachea, and secondly to optimize the surgical field by inhibiting spontaneous ventilation, and causing relaxation of skeletal muscles.

BW A444U was an experimental neuromuscular blocking drug or skeletal muscle relaxant in the category of non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking drugs, intended to be used adjunctively in surgical anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. It was synthesized and developed in the early 1980s. BW A444U represented the first-generation of tetrahydroisoquinoline neuromuscular-blocking drugs that are nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonists or antinicotinics. It was an intermediate- duration non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking drug or skeletal muscle relaxant.

Allowing these groups to be eligible, in effect, raised the income eligibility threshold for WIC services. Participants in the WIC program are now viewed as those that are inherently eligible because of an income at 185% below the poverty line or adjunctively eligible through eligibility and participation in the aforementioned programs. Catechol-O- methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors are used adjunctively with levodopa and dopamine dearecarboxylase (DDC) inhibitors to inhibit peripheral levodopa metabolism, increasing the amount of levodopa delivered to the brain. There are three COMT inhibitors available to treat adults with Parkinson’s Disease and end-of-dose motor fluctuations: opicapone, entacapone and tolcapone. Tolcapone has been available for several years however its usefulness is limited by possible liver damage complications and therefore requires liver function monitoring. Entacapone and opicapone have not been showed to cause significant alterations to liver function.

Laudexium metilsulfate is a neuromuscular blocking drug or skeletal muscle relaxant in the category of non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking drugs, used adjunctively in surgical anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. Laudexium is no longer used in clinical practice, though it was introduced clinically in the early 1950s. It has about half the potency, a slower onset of action and a duration of action much longer than that of d-tubocurarine. As with all clinically established (as well as experimental agents) with a non-depolarizing mechanism of action, its pharmacological action can be antagonized by anticholinesterases.

Vecuronium operates by competing for the cholinoceptors at the motor end plate, thereby exerting its muscle-relaxing properties, which are used adjunctively to general anesthesia. Under balanced anesthesia, the time to recovery to 25% of control (clinical duration) is approximately 25 to 40 minutes after injection and recovery is usually 95% complete approximately 45 to 65 minutes after injection of an intubating dose. The neuromuscular blocking action of vecuronium is slightly enhanced in the presence of potent inhalation anesthetics. If vecuronium is first administered more than 5 minutes after the start of the inhalation of enflurane, isoflurane, or halothane, or when a steady state has been achieved, the intubating dose of vecuronium may be decreased by approximately 15%.
