The community is situated 1 km north of the Village of Stirling just off the CANAMEX Corridor between Lethbridge and the Canada–US border. The community has become a bedroom community to Lethbridge, with many newer acreages being developed in the area. The footprint of Maybutt is defined by its historic boundary roads, Young St. (Range Rd. 195, {undeveloped}), Sunnyside Ave.

Tree cover dominates the publicly owned acreage, and is a significant component on privately owned lands. Oak-hickory is the predominant timber type, however, many other commercially important timber species also occupy significant acreages. More than 500 wildlife species can be found in the Forest, including 48 mammals, 237 birds, 52 reptiles, 57 amphibians, and 109 species of fish. In many cases the commissioners accepted the evidence of Māori over that of the claimants. They found boundaries to be inadequately described in most deeds, the acreages grossly exaggerated, the claims overlapped, with Māori usually having little idea of area or boundaries in English terms. The commissioners allowed 490 claims; most of those disallowed were greater than 1000 acres, with 241 disallowed because the claimants failed to appear at the hearings. Westholme is a community located in the Chemainus River Valley alongside the Island Highway, between Chemainus and Duncan in British Columbia, Canada. The castle belonged to the Brosterups lineage in the late 15th century and was subsequently transferred to the Gjedde family. When Bornholm was handed over from Sweden to Denmark according to the Treaty of Copenhagen in 1660 the Castle was, together with 17 other acreages, handed over to the Swedish king as compensation. It was then used for housing by the lieutenant colonel and later the colonel of the Skånska husarregementet. Today it is used for art shows; the shows were planned to stop after the 2013 season.

Wamberal is the next suburb from Terrigal, with the two suburbs being separated by the Terrigal Lagoon Estuary. The suburb has two distinct areas; there is a coastal strip which includes Wamberal Beach and the Lagoon estuary which houses medium to high density residential properties, as well as a semi-rural area, slightly west of the beach. The latter contains coastal acreages and ridges of bushland which are legislated non-development areas in order to retain the area's ecosystem. The main thoroughfare through the suburb is the Central Coast Highway through the north and south, previously known as The Entrance Road.

Genstar Development Company based out of Canada owned a massive tract of land in south Orange County Florida totaling up to 3,840 acres. Planning of the upscale community began as early as 1984 with an official kick-off construction announcement in 1986, noting that this was a 15- to 20-year project. Genstar sold much of the remaining development in 1987 for $25,832,000 to American Newland Associates, a California general partnership. August of 1997 AG Land Associates, LLC (f/k/a American Newland Associates) sells some of the undeveloped acreages to Westbrook Hunter's Creek, LP for $42,589,200.

This idea allowed exploitation in the harvest of natural resources such as oysters, lumber, and salmon. The proof of this mismanagement is shown in the lack of conservation efforts taken by oyster harvesters in the early days of the industry boom. After the native oyster beds of Northern California and Oregon had been depleted, sailing ships began to travel to Willapa Bay which contained vast acreages of native oysters that had been allowed to grow for many years.

Snell's residence on the Isle Snell Isle is a neighborhood in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States that centers on Snell Isle Boulevard. The street is named after local developer C. Perry Snell (1869–1942), a Kentucky druggist who moved to St. Petersburg in 1900 and began buying properties he developed into upscale residential neighborhoods, commercial buildings, and public parks. Originally, Snell purchased 40 acres of mangroves located near Coffee Pot Bayou and continued to collect large acreages in land to build the property. His goal was to create an area that would attract people from all over the country.

Ellison is an unincorporated community located approximately midway up the Okanagan valley within the local government jurisdiction of the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The Ellison community is founded upon a heritage of agriculture, rural acreages and scattered residential neighbourhoods within scenic valley terrain. The settlement name of Ellison was adopted 1 December 1955, and is named after Price Ellison (1852-1932), a stock raiser and wheat grower that settled here in 1876, and at one time owned or controlled 80% of the property in the area. The Ellison Post Office was opened 1 May 1912, with Thomas Clinton as postmaster, and closed 15 May 1920.

Parramatta was first occupied by the soldiers and convicts who worked the Government Farm established there by Governor Phillip in November 1788. The town "Rose Hill" was laid out two years later, in November 1790 and was renamed Parramatta in 1791. Phillip was determined to have a "planned" town, occupied not just by convicts but also by free settlers. By 1800 a total of 19 town leases had been granted to individuals, the majority were members of the New South Wales Corps, prominent civil servants or churchmen. With the exception of 5 leases, these were all located away from the main streets of the town on larger acreages.

They acquired some 12,000 acres of pine-forested land that included a turpentine camp, which became their temporary headquarters. They set up a sawmill, cleared land, and built the town from scratch. Building lots were also sold, and buyers of these acreages became members of a cooperative called the Ruskin Commongood Society that made infrastructure improvements to the burgeoning town, including building a new Ruskin College. Some members of the new community came from two Ruskin-inspired colonies elsewhere in the South that had failed: the Ruskin Colony in Tennessee (where there were plans, never finalized, for another Ruskin College), and Duke Colony in Ware County, Georgia.

The Hope Park mansion house and the mill were photographed by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) in the 1930s. Detailed measured drawings of the mansion house were made in the 1930s, and of the mill in the 1970s; all can be viewed on the Library of Congress website. A plaque from the U.S. Department of the Interior commemorating this activity sits in the mansion house. As of the time of this article's composition and subsequent to the Barnes' tenure, ownership of the Hope Park mansion house (and its fluctuating acreages due to sales or inheritances) has been held by, the Newmans, Zimmerman, the Mattinglys, the Flints, and the Warhursts.

After the acreages were added up, the Norris family beat out the Johnson family by just a few acres. Thus, as the story goes, it was named Norris City. William Norris was the head of the Norris family at that time so it was said to have been named after him. Another version is that a meeting was held and the railroad had been doing some business with William Norris so they decided to name the town Norris City after him. Pat's Creek used to be an open channel through the town but is now channelled through a culvert under the town streets, re- emerging at the mouth on the Peace River at the Riverfront Park. A farmhouse facing Brownsboro Road built by the Schneider family, who operated a truck farm on the site, is one of the few pre-World War II buildings remaining in Barbourmeade. After World War II, potato production in the area declined and farm acreages in Springdale and along Brownsboro Road were reduced or sold off. Garry oaks and their ecosystems are the focus of conservation efforts, including communities such as Tacoma, Washington, where an Oak Tree Park has been established; Oak Bay, British Columbia, which is named after the tree; and Corvallis, Oregon, which has protected the oak savannah remnants around Bald Hill. Oak Harbor, Washington, named after the tree and home to Smith Park that contains a dense grove of mature Garry Oak trees, is actively pursuing conservation of the city's namesake tree with the formation of the Oak Harbor Garry Oak Society. In southwest Washington, significant acreages of Garry oaks are preserved in the Scatter Creek Wildlife Area, in sites such as the Scatter Creek Unit, which contain some of the few remaining areas of south Puget Sound prairie. In Oak Bay, British Columbia, a fine of up to $10,000 may be issued for each Garry oak tree cut or damaged.

Finally, in March 1985, the leadership of the Akali party began to be released from prison under orders from the new prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. With a view to improving the situation and creating the conditions for a negotiated settlement of Sikh demands, the prime minister's confidante, Arjun Singh who was posted as the Governor of the state, also relaxed the censorship on the Punjabi press, withdrew army control over certain districts, announced his willingness to institute a judicial enquiry into the November 1984 killings, lifted the ban on the All India Sikh Students Federation and agreed to review the cases of thousands of Sikhs imprisoned since the army's arrival in Punjab the previous June. Within a few days, the first 53 were released. The same system was adopted in Ireland when that country was conquered under Henry II. The magnate who had been enfeoffed by his sovereign for his honour of land could provide the knights required either by hiring them for pay or, more conveniently when wealth was mainly represented by land, by a process of subinfeudation, analogous to that by which he himself had been enfeoffed. That is to say, he could assign to an under-tenant a certain portion of his fief to be held by direct military service or the service of providing a mercenary knight. The land so held would then be described as consisting of one or more knight's fees, but the knight's fee had not any fixed area, as different soils and climates required differing acreages to produce a given profit requisite to support a knight and his entourage. This process could be carried farther till there was a chain of mesne lords between the tenant-in-chief and the actual occupier of the land.
