Until 10 October 2017, Wiggin was a non- executive director of Philip T English International Financial Services Ltd in Banbury. The position came with remuneration of £5,000 a year with him spending approximately 60 hours a year on the job. Wiggin has accepted donations and donations in kind from a number of sources, including the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (two days' shooting and two nights' accommodation in 2011 and 2012 at Catton Hall, Derbyshire; total value £1,527) and one day of shooting with Cubitt Consulting in 2004. In 2008, Wiggin accepted an expenses-paid trip to Malaysia, by palm oil conglomerate Sime Darby.

A week after entering the mayoral race, Sgro was the subject of some controversy when Joanna Chapman, a retired businesswoman and former Dundas town councillor, told local media that Sgro was the accountant who approved former Mayor Larry Di Ianni's financial statements during his 2003 mayoral campaign. In that campaign, Di Ianni accepted donations that exceeded the legal limit required by the Municipal Elections Act. In 2006, Di Ianni plead guilty to violating the Municipal Elections Act and was forced to return $26,000 in illegal contributions, make a $4,500 donation to charity, and write an essay on his actions.

The Wolves of Vinland raised $3000 on GoFundMe to purchase materials for a Viking-style longhall, and accepted donations from white nationalist organizations such as Counter Currents Publishing. Members of the group routinely post photos of ritual animal slaughter on Instagram. Prior to his resignation from the organization in late 2018, author Jack Donovan was an outspoken supporter of the Wolves, as is Kevin DeAnna, the founder of the now defunct Youth for Western Civilization. One member of the group, Maurice "Hjalti" Michaely, served two years in prison after being found guilty of attempted church arson against the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, a historic black church in Gainesville, Virginia.

The station, then known as WVGN, was acquired by Caribbean Broadcasting Network (then known as LKK Group; Keith Bass, President) from Calypso Communications in 2002. While Caribbean Broadcasting Network is a company whose television stations are affiliates of commercial networks, WVGN was operated under a separate arm, Caribbean Community Broadcasting, and solicited and accepted donations from listeners, as would most other NPR members. Caribbean Broadcasting Network reached a deal to sell WVGN to R.J. Watkins, owner of WHPR-FM and operator of W33BY-D in Detroit, on August 7, 2014; the sale was completed on February 17, 2015, accompanied by a call sign change to WVIE. WVGN's NPR programming continued through March 15, 2015; Watkins replaced this programming with contemporary music and talk shows.

The largest of several funds established for the families of the fallen firefighters raised nearly $1.2 million to benefit the families of the fallen firefighters. This figure does not include an additional $100,000 donated by the Leary Firefighters Foundation, nor several other funds established since the incident. In addition, Sofa Super Store owner Herb Goldstein established the Charleston Nine Scholarship Endowment with a startup donation of $100,000, which will help defray the costs of college tuition for first responders and to children or dependents of both first responders currently serving and those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Other shops and businesses around the city also accepted donations or contributed a portion of their sales towards the families of the fallen firefighters.

The law school has a reputation for conservative teaching which increased with the renaming in 2016 for Scalia, who was a conservative. The Washington Post editorial board wrote that "university officials aren’t fooling anyone if they contend that naming the school after such a polarizing figure doesn’t give it an ideological brand." In 2019, the law school received a gift of $50 million, the largest ever received by the university, from the estate of Allison and Dorothy Rouse to "fund a chair or chairs that will promote the conservative principles of governance, statesmanship, high morals, civil and religious freedom and the study of the United States Constitution". The university has accepted donations from conservative donors in exchange for allowing the donors to have a say in hiring and firing for the Mercatus Center, the university's think tank, and to be notified of any change in the law school's leadership.

In April 2008, after the news that Huang Fu- yuan, the Director of Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) North Branch, allegedly committed bribery by handing out NT$20 million to ensure his promotion to the position of Vice President of Taipower, Economic Affairs Minister Steve Chen for the first time admitted in the Legislative Yuan that it was Chen Chin-jun who recommended Huang and that also many people were in support of the appointment. Chen however responded that although many people recommended Huang for the position, he only conveyed the message to the Ministry. In 2011, Chen and two others were found guilty of corruption for their actions in the 2008 legislative elections. The Taipei District Court ruled that Chen, former Veteran Affairs Commission Secretary-General Cha Tai-chen and then deputy defense minister Hu Chen-pu had accepted donations from RPTL International, Ltd.

In preparation for that year's conference held in Aparecida, Brazil, he authored a paper on globalization and the new evangelization that linked the devaluation of local cultures and traditional community-sanctioned norms to the economic forces behind mass migration and environmental damage. At the conference, he served on the drafting committee headed by Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio (later Pope Francis) that produced a conference statement that endorsed key elements of liberation theology recast as less overtly political and integrated into the Church's mission. In 2008 he discussed the relationship between the Mexican bishops and drug traffickers who at times funded the construction of local churches. After several other bishops denied the Church accepted donations of funds from illegal activities, Aguiar said the drug lords "are generous and often they provide money for building a church or chapel" and "install electricity, establish communication links, highways [and] roads" in poor communities.

Despite a 36-year-old ban against federal contractors making federal political expenditures, Restore Our Future has accepted donations of $890,000 from at least five such companies, who are taking advantage of a legal gray area created by the U.S. Supreme Court's 2010 ruling in Citizens United v. FEC. Oxbow Carbon, a major coal and petroleum company founded by William Koch that contracts with the Tennessee Valley Authority, gave $750,000, and has insisted such donations are now legal. Another company, M.C. Dean, a Virginia-based electrical engineering company, donated $5,000, but has asked the funds to be returned after consulting with lawyers. The other companies are: B/E Aerospace, a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, which gave $50,000; Clinical Medical Services, which contracts with the Department of Veterans Affairs, donated $25,000; and Suffolk Construction Co., which is building a U.S. Naval base, donated $60,000.

In an effort to clean up both the British National Party's discourse and public image, Griffin publicly distanced the party from the skinhead subculture after he became its chairman in 1999. The party expelled skinhead members, although it has allowed white power band members to join and has accepted donations from neo-fascist skinhead concerts in the early 2000s. In 1990 the European Parliament's Committee of Inquiry into Racism and Xenophobia reported that the violent and racist skinhead subculture was "by far the most worrying development since the last Committee of Inquiry report [in 1985]." The deaths of Donaldson in a car crash in September 1993, followed by Nicky Crane who succumbed to AIDS in December, led to the takeover of Blood & Honour by Combat 18, "a more extreme, semi-terrorist neo-Nazi splinter group", and eventually to bloody internal feuds between Combat 18 supporters and Blood & Honour loyalists in the mid- and late 1990s.
