A scramble of approximately along the east ridge will bring you to the summit although care should be taken near the top as there is a "bad step", a notch in the ridge to negotiate. This could be scrambled down until recently but a rockfall now means it must be avoided, downclimbed or abseiled. The ship's crane had been positioned in such a way as to make it hard or impossible to abseil onto the deck, forcing troops to descend directly to the roof. Soldiers met no physical resistance as they secured the ship, but reportedly encountered verbal abuse. Passengers cooperated with the soldiers, were not handcuffed, and kept in their cabins during the trip to Ashdod. An İHH cameraman on board the Defne Y claimed to have been beaten and interrogated for five hours over a hidden videotape.

A zip-line is in essence a Tyrolean traverse which is traveled down quickly with the assistance of gravity. Several sources claim that the name comes from the Tyrolean Alps, where climbers are said to have developed the system in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In rock climbing a Tyrolean traverse is most often used to return to the main part of a wall after climbing a detached pillar. Lost Arrow Spire, a detached pillar in Yosemite Valley, is often abseiled using a dramatic Tyrolean traverse.

They had to climb through deep snow in bad weather. Dam Flags: Alan was the only player who had previously abseiled, but he purposely missed the harder flag and went to the easier one, since he (correctly) thought it was unlikely that Abby or Bev would be able to get the harder flags. He also spun Bev around as much as possible from the dam floor, disorienting her. Treasure Hunt: Alan's road violation was deliberate, and he only sought one treasure in the first place.

In later life, by her own admission, Dot's attitude to Australia changed, from seeing it as a land of empty spaces yet to be explored to seeing it as a land needing regeneration to repair the damage that had been done to it. An avid conservationist, Dot worked with the Colong Foundation and campaigned, in particular, against the flooding of Lake Pedder and for the establishment of the Myall Lakes National Park. In the 1980s, she was involved in the campaign to save the last piece of lowland tropical rainforest inland from Cape Tribulation, which became a World Heritage Site in 1988. In 1991, at age 80, Dot climbed and then abseiled down the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as part of Seniors' Week activities.
