Some are serious; one says, "All zoos should adopt 'Bokito Law,' where a creature is tranquillised rather than killed," while another calls for "Harambe's Law" to bring in tougher legal consequences for the killing of animals and is signed by over 200,000 people.

Exploitation of girls in Jalgaon had carried on unchecked for many years. The men would scout college campuses, beauty parlours, ice cream parlours, hospitals and bus terminals, for girls. A few victims claimed they were tranquillised before being sexually assaulted and photographed.

A series of mass meetings in the Manchester region, Birmingham, and London over the next few months alarmed the government. "Your country [i.e. county] will not be tranquillised until blood shall have been shed, either by the law or the sword", the Home Secretary wrote to the Lancashire magistrates in March. Over the next few months the government worked to find a legal justification for the magistrates to send in troops to disperse a meeting when riot was expected but not actually begun.

He also learns that Ian had borrowed several books about viruses, and assumes that Sayle plans to use the Stormbreaker network to release a computer virus into Britain's computer infrastructure. Alex investigates the Dozmary mine and, following the path left by his uncle, discovers a large computer manufacturing facility, where the Stormbreaker computers are being filled with a strange fluid. Alex realises that the 'viruses' being investigated by Ian are not computer viruses, but biological weapons. Alex is detected, and nearly escapes but is eventually caught and tranquillised.

As a demonstration of his power he even created a virus to destroy a small town, Prattlewell. Eventually, Vek was tranquillised whilst in human form, and was kept imprisoned underground, where, as he required ultraviolet light for sustenance, he starved to death and his corpse was triumphantly paraded as a trophy. However, he had transferred his life- force to a sympathetic scientist named Denby, and upon becoming Vek once more, lost patience with humanity and decided to carry out the death sentence. However, before he could do so, another servitor, Zom, arrived with the task of destroying both humanity and Vek.

Wilmot had strong anti-Catholic and anti- French views once saying "Lower Canada would [not] be tranquillised and restored to a proper state, till all the French distinguishing marks were utterly abolished, and the English laws, language, and institutions, universally established throughout the Province." In 1837, James Pierce, the publisher of the paper The Gleaner and Northumberland Schediasma was arrested and jailed for printing that Wilmot had "told an untruth" in the House of Assembly. They are also seen, in skeleton form, in Nick's office. A Smilodon appeared for the first time in episode 2.3, where it is responsible for a number of deaths at a theme park. When the team hear of this, Connor wonders why the Anomaly detector he has recently built didn't detect an Anomaly in the theme park; it is later revealed that the Smilodon had came through its Anomaly as a cub years before the events of the episode, and had been kept as a pet by a ranger called Valerie who had lost control of it as it became more aggressive and turned man-eater upon maturing; she was certain that her pet would never hurt her after all she had done for it over the years, but was proved wrong when it later killed her. At the end of the episode, Oliver claims the cat is dead, killed by an apparent heart attack after being tranquillised; Nick questions how this could have happened when it was a perfectly healthy animal.
