Crabbe was born in 1908 to Edward Clinton Simmons Crabbe, a real estate broker, and Lucy Agnes (née McNamara) Crabbe, in Oakland, California. When Balabushka first started repairing cues while working at his pool room, he started converting into custom cues. Many of these house cues were made by Brunswick. When he started building his own cues in 1959, he used blanks purchased from Brunswick for their "Titlist" cue line; the same used in the construction of the house cues he had been converting. Many of the fine cuemakers working during the same era as Balabushka did likewise, including Frank Paradise (Paradise cues), Eugene Balner (Palmer cues, named after Arnold Palmer) and Ernie Gutierrez (Ginacue), all following in the footsteps of earlier master cuemaker, Herman Rambow.
In the late 1960s Balabushka met Penndel, Pennsylvania, native Gus Szamboti at a tournament. Szamboti had been working for RCA as a draftsman and designer, but RCA layoffs were common at the time, and he had started designing and selling pool cues as a more stable job path. Though he too started production with Titlist blanks as well as blanks manufactured by WICO of Chicago, Szamboti later began making his own. Balabushka was very impressed with Szamboti's blanks and, in addition to the two men becoming fast friends, he became Szamboti's first customer, buying blanks from him for $18 apiece.

Titlist Kid Williams With McNulty in his corner, Ertle took the bantamweight title from Kid Williams in a close bout on September 10, 1915 in St. Paul, Minnesota while still just 18 years of age. The first three rounds appeared even, but Williams clearly led in the fourth. At the end of the fourth, Williams was first warned for a low blow after throwing a vicious left uppercut to Ertel's stomach. Williams was disqualified in the middle of the 5th, immediately after throwing a right uppercut to Ertel's midsection that Ertel, the referee, and an examining doctor confirmed was a low blow.

Gamboa got off to a hot start, winning the first four rounds and using his superior foot speed and hand speed but was caught and dropped by a right hook in the fifth round. Gamboa continued to fight back but was dropped again in the eighth and finally was stopped in the ninth round after two knockdowns and a huge right hook by Crawford. Kevin John Hickey (February 25, 1956 – May 16, 2012), was an American left- handed pitcher who spent six seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Chicago White Sox (1981–1983) and Baltimore Orioles (1989–1991). It was with the White Sox that he was a reliever with the American League (AL) West titlist in 1983 and a batting practice pitcher for the 2005 World Series Champions. Hickey was born on February 25, 1956 in Chicago's South Side and was raised in the Brighton Park neighborhood. He first attended St. Rita of Cascia High School on a basketball scholarship, but was expelled for excessive truancy.

Arthur "Dutch" Bergman was a back with George Gipp on the Notre Dame teams of the 1920s. He was later assistant football coach at the University of Minnesota and the University of New Mexico, and head coach at Catholic University, winning their first Orange Bowl in 1936, and head coach of the Eastern Division titlist Washington Redskins of 1943. Dutch was also an Army flyer in World War I, a mining engineer, a top-level Government official, a sports writer, a broadcaster and, finally, manager of the D.C. Armory and RFK Stadium. The "Timmie Awards" are the name given to the awards that the club awarded beginning in 1946.
Enrique Solis returned his name to the winning column on his next fight, when he faced Felix Trinidad Sr. on December 18 in San Juan, knocking out the former Puerto Rican national Featherweight titlist in round nine. Solis took 1980 off but returned in 1981 to defeat 9-7-3 Heriberto Olivares by a ten-round decision in San Juan, after which he was granted a shot at the USBA's Super Featherweight title against the undefeated, 17-0 John Verderosa. The Verderosa-Solis bout took place on June 4, 1981, also at the Felt Forum in New York. Solis lost a twelve-round unanimous decision and decided to retire afterwards.

He is a four-time Skeet Shooting medalist in the World Championships, and a four-time Olympian, with his 5th position in Beijing 2008 being to date (as of 2017) Cyprus’ third-best all time placing at the Olympics, after Pavlos Kontides’ silver medal in Laser sailing in London 2012 and Antonis Nikolaidis’ 4th place in Skeet Shooting in Beijing 2008. He was the national flag bearer at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Achilleos has the existing distinction of being the inaugural Cypriot athlete to set a World Record in an Olympic Sport.

An aggressive and powerful fighter who utilizes boxing heavily, Özkul is also known to employ hard low kicks and as well as spinning kicks. Jean's only loss as professional came in 2014 against light welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson, in Peterson's hometown of Washington, D.C.. After the sole loss, Jean dropped down to lightweight where he won four fights in a row. With a dominant performance that mixed superlative boxing skills with crunching power, Crawford knocked out Jean in the 10th round to retain the WBO light welterweight title in front of 11,020 hometown fans. Crawford landed 169 total punches out of 533 thrown, and an impressive 40% of his power shots. Over the last three rounds, Crawford out-landed Jean 59 to 9.

On 27 February, promoter Eddie Hearn announced that Yafai would travel to Germany for his first fight not on home soil on the undercard of the WBA (regular) light middleweight title fight between Demetrius Andrade and Jack Culcay at the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Ludwigshafen, Rhineland- Palatinate. Yafai put on a concrete display throughout the six round fight to win via unanimous decision against Georgian journeyman Khvicha Gigolashvili.
