III "Britain, ask of thyself" – Solo Bass and Chorus (Tenor and Bass) Britain, ask of thyself, and see that thy sons be strong, See that thy sons be strong, Strong to arise and go, See that thy sons be strong, See that thy navies speed, to the sound of the battle-song; Then, when the winds are up, and the shuddering bulwarks reel, Smite, the mountainous wave, and scatter the flying foam, Big with the battle-thunder that echoeth load, loud and long; Britain, ask of thyself, and see that thy sons be strong, See that thy sons be strong, Strong to arise and go, If ever the war-trump peal; See that thy squadrons haste, when loos'd are the hounds of hell; Then shall the eye flash fire, and the valourous heart grow light, Under the drifting smoke, and the scream of the flying shell, When the hillside hisses with death, and never a foe in sight. Britain, ask of thyself, and see that thy sons be strong. So shall thou rest in peace, enthron'd in thine island home. So shall thou rest in peace, Enthron'd in thine island home, So shall thou rest in peace, enthron'd in thine island home.

In time of sorest need we have learned to come to Thee - our Rock and our Fortress. Thou knowest the dangers and snares that surround us on march and in battle. Thou knowest the dangers that constantly threaten the humble, but well beloved homes, which Thy servants have left behind them. Oh, in Thine infinite mercy, save us from the cruel hand of the savage, and of tyrant.
And the apocryphal Acts of Thomas describes a baptismal ceremony which, though it does not explicitly contain a breathing ceremony, may imply one, "Let the gift come by which, breathing upon thine enemies, thou didst make them draw back and fall headlong, and let it dwell in this oil, over which we name thy holy name."Acts of Thomas, §157; trans. in New Testament Apocrypha, ed. Words of the Prayer from Raccolta: :O blessed Virgin, Mother of God, look down in mercy from Heaven, where thou art enthroned as Queen, upon me, a miserable sinner, thine unworthy servant. Although I know full well my own unworthiness, yet in order to atone for the offenses that are done to thee by impious and blasphemous tongues, from the depths of my heart I praise and extol thee as the purest, the fairest, the holiest creature of all God's handiwork. I bless thy holy Name, I praise thine exalted privilege of being truly Mother of God, ever Virgin, conceived without stain of sin, Co-Redemptrix of the human race. I bless the Eternal Father who chose thee in an especial way for His daughter; I bless the Word Incarnate who took upon Himself our nature in thy bosom and so made thee His Mother; I bless the Holy Spirit who took thee as His bride.

For Thou desirest no sacrifice, else would I give it Thee: but Thou delightest not in burnt- offerings. The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O God, shalt Thou not despise. O be favourable and gracious unto Sion: build Thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, with the burnt-offerings and oblations: then shall they offer young bullocks upon Thine altar.
Ours Is the Kingdom is the fourth album by English metal band Forefather. Its title is a play on the line of the Lord's Prayer "For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory". Though urine has been believed useful for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in several traditional systems, and mentioned in some medical texts, auto-urine therapy as a system of alternative medicine was popularized by British naturopath John W. Armstrong in the early 20th century. Armstrong was inspired by his family's practice of using urine to treat minor stings and toothaches, by a metaphorical reading of the Biblical Proverb 5:15 "Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well", and his own experience with ill-health that he treated with a 45-day fast "on nothing but urine and tap water". Starting in 1918, Armstrong prescribed urine-therapy regimens that he devised to many thousands of patients, and in 1944 he published The Water of Life: A treatise on urine therapy, which became a founding document of the field. Armstrong's book sold widely, and in India inspired the writing of Manav mootra (Gujarati: Urine therapy; 1959) by Gandhian social reformer Raojibhai Manibhai Patel, and many later works.
Making music can be extremely therapeutic and making To Thine Own Self Be True was a rebirth and a re-ignition for me." Slaine had a similar take on the project's therapeutic value: "You don't put as many years in the game as we have without having ups and downs. We all have gone through struggle and adversity-personally and professionally. This album was recorded as I walked out of a very dark time toward a place of truth and understanding.
The second and third lines end in two stressless syllables (tri-us, on you). Having ten syllables, they are structurally parallel to masculine lines, even though they do not end in stressed syllables. The metrist Marina Tarlinskaja (2014, 124) proposes to classify cases like Demetrius or fawn on you as masculine endings (her example is "To sunder his that was thine enemy", from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet). Thus for Tarlinskaja, "syllable 10 in masculine endings can be stressed or unstressed".

As Polonius's son Laertes prepares to depart for a visit to France, Polonius offers him advice that culminates in the maxim "to thine own self be true." That night on the rampart, the ghost appears to Hamlet, telling the prince that he was murdered by Claudius and demanding that Hamlet avenge him. Hamlet agrees, and the ghost vanishes.

Hunter's works are good in colour and evince considerable talent.
An important part of Amish life is Gelassenheit (), yieldedness, letting be, or submission to the will of God (in modern German approximately: composure, tranquility, serenity). This concept derives from the Bible when Jesus said, "not my will but thine be done," thereby making individuality, selfishness, and pride, abhorrent; see humility. "He submits to Christ, loses his own will, and yields (Gelassenheit) himself in all areas."Leonard Gross, Golden Apples in Silver Bowls, Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1999, p.

Formal public and personal prayers are addressed to "Our Father in Heaven" or "Heavenly Father", and are closed in the name of Jesus Christ, followed by amen. When a prayer is given in public, it is customary for all attending to say "amen" at the prayer's conclusion. English-speaking members are encouraged to use "thee," "thou," "thy" and "thine" when addressing God, as a form of both familiarity and respect. Members who speak other languages use similar familiar, respectful language in prayer.
He thought that the meaning of a dream image could involve puns and could be understood by decoding the image into its component words. For example, Alexander, while waging war against the Tyrians, dreamt that a satyr was dancing on his shield. Artemidorus reports that this dream was interpreted as follows: satyr = sa tyros ("Tyre will be thine"), predicting that Alexander would be triumphant. Freud acknowledged this example of Artemidorus when he proposed that dreams be interpreted like a rebus.
Bea enters, disguised as a lawyer, and makes Nick confess that he stole from the Money Box, and tells the judge that beheading him would be redundant because he has already lost his head. At this station the human learns that whatever he desires for himself he has to grant others and thus is cleansed from selfishness. The third station is the station of "neither mine nor thine“. This is the station where the Sufi learns that nothing is owned by humans, but everything comes from the Lord. The human is freed of the shackles of materialism and is raised to the station of angels. At the fourth station there is "neither me nor you“.
Musically, Hellig Usvart features a musical output similar to the early 1990s Norwegian primitive, lo- fi, old school black metal music. The first three songs feature a more obscure output, while songs such as "Thine Hour Hast Come" and "Invert the Inverted Cross" are more groovy. The album is said to contain outstanding drumming, for Sherlock was primarily a drummer. Lyrically, Hellig Usvart features indirect praise for God, and is known for its anti-satanic approach, as implied by the song titles.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

The title may have come from a line by Percy Bysshe Shelley in his work "To Jane: The Invitation" (1822): :Best and brightest, come away! Shelley's line may have originated from English bishop and hymn writer Reginald Heber in his 1811 work, "Hymns. Epiphany": :Brightest and best of the sons of the morning, :Dawn on our darkness, and lend us thine aid. A still earlier, and more pertinent, use of the phrase is in the letter of Junius published February 7, 1769, in the Public Advertiser.
The name also refers to the cloth flap 'collar' on a sailor's shirt or top, used to keep macassar oil off the uniform. Macassar oil was an unguent for the hair commonly used by men in the early 19th century. The poet Byron called it "thine incomparable oil, Macassar". The fashion for oiled hair became so widespread in the Victorian and the Edwardian period that housewives began to cover the arms and backs of their chairs with washable cloths to prevent the fabric coverings from being soiled.
Sun-Treader, his best known work, is scored for a large orchestra. It was inspired by the poem "Pauline" by Robert Browning, particularly the line "Sun- treader, light and life be thine forever!". The most common intervals in the piece are minor seconds, perfect fourths and augmented fourths. One group of intervals he uses are fourths in sequence where the respective notes are either 13 or 11 semitones apart; the other is three notes which are chromatically related, though often separated by an octave.

It is now largely archaic, having been replaced in most contexts by you. It is used in parts of Northern England and in Scots (). Thou is the nominative form; the oblique/objective form is thee (functioning as both accusative and dative), the possessive is thy (adjective) or thine (as an adjective before a vowel or as a pronoun) and the reflexive is thyself. When thou is the grammatical subject of a finite verb in the indicative mood, the verb form typically ends in -(e)st (e.g.

Although the music is lost, aspects can be deduced from the later cantata for Reformation Day. Probably the first aria contained an instrumental cantus firmus of Luther's chorale Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, sung by the soprano in BWV 80\. Both recitatives begin secco and end as an arioso. The first one stresses the text "daß Christi Geist mit dir sich fest verbinde" (that Christ's Spirit to thine be firm united), the second "dein Heiland bleibt dein Hort" (your Saviour remains your shield).

To Thine Own Self... was GPF's second major storyline, or "mega-arc". It began on November 20, 2005; originally scheduled to finish in October 2006, it was extended due to the hiatus in Fall of 2006. The story concerns Nick and Ki's wedding, and the attempts by Emperor Nicholas the Puissant, who is from a parallel dimension, to steal Project Velociraptor. On the night of his wedding, Duchess Ki, one of the Emperor's agents, kidnaps Nick and forces him to work on Project Velociraptor.
When Dulness chooses her new king, she settles on Bays, who is seen in his study surveying his own works: The base of Cibber's pile of sacrificed books is several commonplace books, which are the basis of all his own productions. Although Cibber confesses: The accidental common sense was The Careless Husband. When Cibber casts about for new professions, he, unlike Theobald in 1732, decides, "Hold—to the Minister I more incline;/ To serve his cause, O Queen! is serving thine" (I 213–214).
Mees also created the stage designs for music artists such as Diana Ross and The Beach Boys. He worked on two films, Second Serve and Maniac. Mees was awarded an Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Series alongside Richard D. James in 1990 for The Next Generation episode "Sins of the Father". He was nominated on four other occasions, in 1989 for "Elementary, Dear Data", in 1991 for "The Best of Both Worlds", in 1992 for "Unification" and in 1994 for "Thine Own Self".
In Luke 10 and Luke 20 it belongs to the textual group 1167. In Matthew 6:13 it has an unusual ending of the Lord's Prayer: > ὅτι σοῦ ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία καὶ ἡ δύναμις καὶ ἡ δόξα, τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ > καὶ τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας. ἀμήν (For thine is the kingdom and > the power and the glory, of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit > for ever. Amen.) This ending have only two other manuscripts: 157 and 418.
Ylla tells Yll about her dreams, and Yll learns more as Ylla speaks while she sleeps. Yll hears Ylla singing the 17th century song "Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes" (with lyrics from the poem "To Celia" by Ben Jonson), in English she doesn't understand. Yll becomes bitterly jealous, sensing his wife's inchoate romantic feelings for one of the astronauts. After taking a weapon similar to a gun under the pretense of hunting, he kills both First Expedition astronauts as soon as they land on Mars.
In 2012, La Coka Nostra released their second album, Masters of the Dark Arts. Since their debut, the group has become known for their energetic live performances and controversial subject matter, including on To Thine Own Self Be True. "This album was created during a time of unique and individual transformation for each member of the group," Ill Bill stated.
The tune of "Thine Be the Glory" was written by Handel in 1747, intended for use in Handel's Joshua oratorio; however, when it was played, it was popular enough that Handel added it to Judas Maccabaeus. In 1796, Ludwig Van Beethoven composed twelve variations on it for both piano and cello. In 1884, Edmond L. Budry used Handel's tune and wrote words for them, which he titled "A Toi la Gloire." It is reported that he was inspired to write it after the death of his first wife, Marie de Vayenborg in Lausanne, Switzerland.
His poem 'In memoriam: T. E. Brown' was selected by William Cubbon for inclusion in his A Book of Manx Poetry, published in 1913, and included the striking stanza:'In memoriam: T. E. Brown' by Stephen Hughes-Games, in A Book of Manx Poetry ed. by William Cubbon, Douglas: Brown & Sons Ltd., 1913 > :Poet and Patriot, strong, :Tender and wise, :All notes were in thy song, > :Mirth in thine eyes. Hughes-Games moved to St. Lawrence, Thanet, in 1906, and in around 1908 he moved to a new position in Clifton, Bristol.
The Four Evangelists each cite the last words of Jesus; according to Luke the Evangelist, these last words came from verse 5 (KJV) of Psalm 31, "Into thine hand I commit my spirit". Similarly, according to nineteenth-century English Anglican bishop John James Stewart Perowne, this verse constituted the last words of many Christian figures, including Polycarp, Saint Bernard, Jerome of Prague, Martin Luther, and Philip Melanchthon. James Limburg notes that this makes the psalm suitable for preaching, and that it is often intoned at the time of death.
Polonius's most famous lines are found in Act 1 Scene 3 ("Neither a borrower nor a lender be"; "To thine own self be true") and Act 2 Scene 2 ("Brevity is the soul of wit"; and "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't") while others have become paraphrased aphorisms ("Clothes make the man"; "Old friends are the best friends"). Also, the line he speaks when he is killed by Hamlet in Act 3 scene 4 ("O, I am slain!") has been subject to parody and ridicule due to its obviousness.
On the south face of the tower is a limestone sundial inscribed with "The day is thine", with a similar sundial on the north face which bears the words "The Night cometh". The nave is supported on the south aisle by Norman arches, whereas those on the north aisle are later Gothic period. The church organ is Victorian. The stained glass windows in the chancel depict scenes of the life of the St Guthlac, including one in which he is seen sailing through what is now the fens to establish a monastery, now Crowland Abbey.

First edition (publ. Faber and Faber) The Left Was Never Right was a book published in June 1945 by Quintin Hogg, the Conservative MP for Oxford, which examined the speeches and policies of politicians from the Labour Party and the Liberal Party concerning armaments and appeasement. These were contrasted to quotes by Conservative MPs such as Winston Churchill and Sir Austen Chamberlain supporting British rearmament and against appeasement of Germany. The books dust-jacket quoted Jesus' remark: "Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee" from Luke 19:22.
Both Mirrha and Hiren owe much to "Venus and Adonis", and their author pays the following tribute to Shakespeare at the close of Mirrha:— :But stay my Muse in thine owne confines keepe, :And wage not warre with so deere lou'd a neighbor, :But hauing sung thy day song, rest and sleepe, :Preserue thy small fame and his greater fauor: :His song was worthie merrit (Shakspeare hee) :Sung the faire blossome, thou the withered tree: :Lawrell is due to him, his art and wit :Hath purchas'd it, Cypres thy brow will fit.
There have been several attempts to rewrite the words. In the nineteenth century there was some lively debate about the national anthem as verse two was considered by some to be slightly offensive in its use of the phrase "scatter her enemies." Some thought it placed better emphasis on the respective power of Parliament and the Crown to change "her enemies" to "our enemies"; others questioned the theology and proposed "thine enemies" instead. Sydney G. R. Coles wrote a completely new version, as did Canon F. K. Harford.

Prometheus praises her, but demands that she recalls the curse he laid upon Jupiter. The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the Byzantine text- type. Aland placed it in Category V. In Matthew 6:13 it has doxology in the Lord's Prayer in this version: > ὅτι σοῦ ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία καὶ ἡ δύναμις καὶ ἡ δόξα, τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ > καὶ τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας. ἀμήν (For thine is the kingdom and > the power and the glory, of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit > for ever. Amen.) This ending appears in only two other manuscripts: 157 and 225.

In 1884 the Swiss writer Edmond Louis Budry wrote new French words to the tune, creating the Easter hymn "", which was later translated into English as "Thine Be the Glory". "See, the Conqu'ring Hero Comes!" gained familiarity as the tune invariably played by brass bands at the opening of new railway lines and stations in Britain during the 19th century. The military march "" (1891) by the Italian-born Chilean composer Pedro Césari uses the melody in its middle section. It is the official parade march of the Chilean Air Force Aviation School.
Edmond Louis Budry (August 30, 1854 – November 12, 1932) was a Swiss hymn writer famous for writing the lyrics to the hymn "Thine Be the Glory" ("À toi la gloire") to music from Judas Maccabaeus by George Frideric Handel. Born in Vevey, he studied theology in Lausanne and was a pastor at Cully and Sainte- Croix between 1881 and 1889. He then became pastor of the Free Church in Vevey for a further 35 years, retiring in 1923. Besides writing original hymns, he translated German, English, and Latin lyrics into French.
The next morning, Ryuji discovers that Reiko's face is blurred in a photo, much like those of the teenagers were. Despite Reiko's objections, Ryūji watches the tape and tells her to make him a copy, which they start reviewing the next day, aside from a brief interruption from Ryuji's student Mai Tokano. Studying further, the two find a hidden message embedded within the tape saying "frolic in brine, goblins be thine". The next morning, Ryuji has found that the message is in the form of a dialect from Izu Ōshima Island.

Coming up to Smith, Barlow began to tell the story of which he just lived and Smith stopped him, telling him, "I saw it all; you have no need to tell me." Smith proceeded to give Israel a blessing, saying, "Thee and thine shall never want."Ride Faster In Nauvoo, Barlow was one of the bodyguards of Joseph Smith. After Smith's death, Barlow was a Mormon pioneer and traveled with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to the Salt Lake Valley in 1848; he settled in Bountiful.
No man is an island, entire of itself; no man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were. Morieris. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. Morieris. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
" In Stanza V, Shelley confesses that in his youth, while he was searching for spiritual reality, chiefly by reading Gothic romances, the shadow of Intellectual Beauty suddenly fell on him. He shrieked and clasped his hands in ecstasy. As a consequence of this experience, he tells us in Stanza VI, he vowed that he would dedicate his "powers / To thee and thine," and he has kept his vow. The experience also left him with the hope that the Spirit of Beauty would free "this world from its dark slavery.

In the foregoing tale about the Stone mover, the giving of the gift of clothing unwittingly worked as a charm to expel him from the area: as J. F. Campbell says, "he was frightened away by a gift of clothes". The motif of the disdain for the gift of clothing also occurs in other tales where the fenodyree helps the farmer, and pronounces a similar phrase, "Though this place is thine, the great Glen of Rushen is not", and disappears somewhere. John Rhys supposes that it is to Glen Rushen he has gone off to.

Then the priest says a prayer very similar to the one used at Theophany, but when he immerses the hand cross into the water three times, instead of singing the troparion of Theophany, he sings the troparion of the Cross: > Save, O Lord, Thy people and bless Thine inheritance, granting unto the > faithful victory over enemies. Karaite Jews do not wear tefillin in any form. According to Karaites, the Biblical passages cited for this practice are metaphorical, and mean to "remember the Torah always and treasure it". This is because the commandment in scripture is "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart"... "And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for forehead ornaments between thine eyes". (Deuteronomy 6:5,9) Since words cannot be on one's heart, or bound on one's hand, the entire passage is understood metaphorically. Furthermore, the same expressions ("And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand" as well as "and they shall be as frontal ornaments between thine eyes") are used in Exodus 13:9 in reference to the commandments of Ḥagh HaMaṣṣot, in Exodus 13:16 in reference to the ritual of redeeming the first born, in Deuteronomy 6:8 in reference to the ‘Aseret HaDevarim (the Ten Utterances, usually mistranslated as "the Ten Commandments"), and in Deuteronomy 11:18 in reference to all the words of the Torah, indicating that, from a Karaite perspective, they must be metaphorical in nature (because one could never ritually "write" and "bind" upon their hearts themselves).
The film begins with a close-up of the inscription above the stage in the ballroom of the Blackpool Tower: "Bid me discourse, I will enchant thine ear", from the poem Venus and Adonis by William Shakespeare. As the camera pans around the ballroom giving a view of the dancers, a voice-over explains that in Japan, ballroom dancing is treated with suspicion. Sonnet 40 is an English or Shakespearean sonnet, composed of three quatrains followed by a final couplet. It follows the typical rhyme scheme of the English sonnet, ABAB CDCD EFEF GG. It is written in iambic pentameter, a type of poetic metre based on five pairs of metrically weak/strong syllabic positions. Line four exemplifies a regular iambic pentameter: × / × / × / × / × / All mine was thine, before thou hadst this more. (40.4) All four lines in the second quatrain have a final extrametrical syllable or feminine ending: × / × / × / × / × / (×) But yet be blam'd, if thou thy self deceivest (40.7) :/ = ictus, a metrically strong syllabic position.
The Power and the Glory is a 1940 novel by British author Graham Greene. The title is an allusion to the doxology often recited at the end of the Lord's Prayer: "For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen." It was initially published in the United States under the title The Labyrinthine Ways. Greene's novel tells the story of a renegade Roman Catholic 'whisky priest' (a term coined by Greene) living in the Mexican state of Tabasco in the 1930s, a time when the Mexican government was attempting to suppress the Catholic Church.
Common pious additions to the Rosary occur after each decade and after recitation of the Hail Holy Queen. Some Catholics recite the Fatima Decade Prayer at the end of each decade, preceding or following the Glory Be. Some add the Miraculous Medal prayer "O Mary, conceived without sin..." or the Fatima Ave refrain ("Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! Ave, Ave, Ave Maria!"). Others add a praying of the pious Eucharistic prayer "O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine" at the end of each decade in honor of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
The Nurse also admits to being something of a fool, proclaiming, "were not I thine [Juliet's] only nurse, I would say thou hadst suck'd wisdom from thy teat."Romeo and Juliet Act 1, Scene 3, Lines 67–68 She is implied to be ugly by Mercutio, who urges the Nurse's servant Peter to fetch her fan quickly, "to hide her face; for her fan's the fairer face." Mercutio also mentions her age, calling her an "ancient lady" as he exits from the same scene. Some illustrations even depict her as an obese or big boned woman, because of how Mercutio insults her.
Some speakers and writers use an before a word beginning with the sound in an unstressed syllable: an historical novel, an hotel. However, this usage is now less common. Some dialects, particularly in England (such as Cockney), silence many or all initial h sounds (h-dropping), and so employ an in situations where it would not be used in the standard language, like an 'elmet (standard English: a helmet). There used to be a distinction analogous to that between a and an for the possessive determiners my and thy, which became mine and thine before a vowel, as in mine eyes.
Convinced that Superboy intentionally caused the accident, Luthor kills wealthy businessman Warren Eckworth and tries, unsuccessfully, to take his place via plastic surgery. In the guise as Warren, Lex (Howard) takes over Eckworth's "Superboy Gun" project and tries to kill Superboy with the weapon. In the Season Four two-parter "Know Thine Enemy", Luthor's childhood is explored when Superboy relives Lex's life via the 'psychodisk'. Similar to his post-Crisis origin, Lex is raised by an abusive father and neglectful mother; Lex becomes rich when he takes out an insurance policy on his parents and then kills them both.

Llef (in English "A Cry") is a popular Welsh hymn, written by David Charles (1803-1880) (son of David Charles (1762–1834)). The tune was composed in 1890 by Griffith Hugh Jones (Welsh language name Gutyn Arfon) (1849–1919) and was written in memory of his brother Dewi. The meter is 8-8-8-8 and it is played in the keys of D minor and E minor. English texts also commonly sung to the tune include "Bow Down Thine Ear, O Lord, and Hear", "Glorying in the Cross of Christ" and "The Day of Wrath".
"Zion's Daughter" is a 1982 Christmas single by German band Boney M., the second single to be released off their Christmas Album, released in November 1981. It was a re-worked up-tempo version of See, the conqu'ring hero comes!, a chorus from Georg Friedrich Händel's 1746 oratorio Judas Maccabaeus with English lyrics by Fred Jay. The tune is also used for the German advent hymn and the English hymn Thine Be the Glory, and is well known in England as part of Henry Wood's Fantasia on British Sea Songs (1905), performed every year at the BBC's Last Night of the Proms concert.
In this sonnet, the poet is urging the 'fair youth' to preserve something of himself and something of the image he sees in the mirror by fathering a child, "Now is the time that face should form another". The message is reiterated in the last lines of the poem: "But if thou live, remember'd not to be, / Die single, and thine image dies with thee." Not only will the youth die, but so will his image — the one in his mirror, and also his image that may be seen borne by his yet-to-be child.
His capacious and elegant Victorian building has in turn been succeeded by a new rectory built close by in 1983. The indefatigable Henry Preston brought education for all to Tasburgh when he founded a public elementary school on his rectory land alongside Church Hill (in those days, School Hill). The school was officially opened on 15 September 1844 with this prayer, 'Oh Lord my God, hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth unto Thee today, that Thine eyes may be open towards this house, night and day'. There were sixty-two children attending school that first year.
After Supermachiner released Rise of the Great Machine and after Converge had completed recording Jane Doe, Bannon started writing and recording solo material under the name Dear Lover. The track was supposed to be part of en EP titled The Blood of Thine Enemies, but the EP was never released. The track was later featured on Supermachiner's 2009 album Rust.

A type of archaism is the use of thou, the second-person singular pronoun that fell out of general use in the 17th century, while you or ye, formerly only used to address groups, and then also to respectfully address individuals, is now used to address both individuals and groups. Thou is the nominative form; the oblique/objective form is thee (functioning as both accusative and dative), and the possessive is thy or thine. > Though thou hast ever so many counsellors, yet do not forsake the counsel of > thy own soul. :— English proverb > Today me, tomorrow thee.
The Khandana Bhava–Bandhana was written by Swami Vivekananda in Bengali as a hymn to his guru, Sri Ramakrishna. The English translation by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood is used by English speaking Vedanta Centers in the evening vesper worship services: Breaker of this world’s chain, We adore Thee, whom all men love. Spotless, taking man’s form, O Purifier, Thou art above the gunas three, Knowledge divine, not flesh; Thou whom the cosmos wears, A diamond at its heart. Let us look deep in Thine eyes; They are bright with the wisdom of God, That can wake us from Maya’s spell.
His friends, however, joined a resistance movement in Emperor Nicholas's dimension, but while they succeeded in finding Nick and capturing Emperor Nicholas, they were faced with an alien invasion that threatened the alternate Earth. The storyline included the tying of loose ends from Surreptitious Machinations, as well as plotlines from Years 5–7, and, like Surreptitious Machinations, introduced new developments in the story, such as what may be the elimination of The Gamester and Mischief by Pandemonium. To Thine Own Self... officially ended on March 4, 2008, concurrent with GPF's break from Keenspot, and immediately preceding the beginning of the comic's Year Nine.
A 1990 film Césio 137 – O Pesadelo de Goiânia ("Caesium-137 – The Nightmare of Goiânia"), a dramatisation of the incident, was made by Roberto Pires. It won several awards at the 1990 Festival de Brasília.UraniumFilmFestival.org: Roberto Pires "Thine Own Self", a 1994 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, was partially inspired by the Goiânia accident. A 1992 episode of Captain Planet and the Planeteers depicts a somewhat loosely-based version of this event in the episode "A Deadly Glow," albeit with a happier ending for all involved, and blaming the contamination of the town on an eco-villain.
The next episode "To Thine Own Self" shows Clay learning of Otto's murder of a nurse, ending the RICO case. He is shown, for unknown reasons, trying to save Jax from Romeo and warns him to work with the cartel long enough to make the Club legitimate and leave. He refuses stating "I'm done bowing down to greedy men who have nothing to believe in". When Jax reveals a new deal to the Club, which would allow the Mayans and Triads to take over muling the cocaine and selling big guns, respectively, Clay votes yes along with everyone else.

In Knowledge and Censorship (2008), Stavans explains the "acquisition of knowledge in multi-ethnic environments, the role that dictionaries play in the preservation of memory, the function of libraries in the electronic age, and the uses of censorship." Mordecai Drache, who writes for Zeek: A Jewish Journal of Thought and Culture, discusses with Stavans the Bible as a work of literature in With All Thine Heart (2010). Steven G. Kellman published The Restless Ilan Stavans: Outsider on the Inside (2019), the first book-length study of the author and his work (Latinx and Latin American Profiles, Pittsburgh).
It is followed by a semi- chorus in three parts ("To Thee all Angels cry aloud"), plaintive in style, and leading to the full chorus ("To Thee, Cherubin and Seraphim"), which is majestic in its movement and rich in harmony. The fifth number is a quartet and chorus ("The glorious Company of the Apostles praise Thee"), dominated by the bass, with responses from the other parts, and is followed by a short, full chorus ("Thine honourable, true, and only Son"). The seventh number is a stirring bass solo with trumpets. A fanfare of trumpets introduces the next four numbers, all choruses.

That brotherly love as a universal principle of humanity has been taught by the rabbis of old, is disputed by Christian theologians,JewishEncyclopedia_com - BROTHERLY LOVE who refer to the saying attributed to Jesus in Matt. v. 43: "Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy, but I say unto you, Love your enemies," etc. Güdemann thinks that Jesus' words had a special political meaning, and that they refer to a view expressed by the zealots who wanted to exclude dissenters from the command of love by such teaching as is found in Abot:R. N. xvi.

Stebbins was well equipped in the musical department of his work, as well as in the others, for he studied voice with some of the most celebrated teachers in the United States. Much as his voice was heard in different parts of the world, he is remembered foremost by the music which he composed, which has long survived him and demonstrated an appeal across time and cultural boundaries. Stebbins' lasting legacy, the hymns that have become gospel music classics. Among those are Jesus Is Calling, Jesus I Come, Have Thine Own Way, Lord, and Take Time to Be Holy.

Twice every day the Jew recites the Shema Yisrael, which contains the words: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might" (Deut. vi. 5). This verse is understood to enjoin him to willingly surrender life and fortune whenever the cause of God demands it, while it at the same time urges him to make God beloved by all his creatures through deeds of kindness, as Abraham did (Sifre, Deut. 32).
The north elevation bears the arms of West Hartlepool within a wreath. Located on the top of the obelisks' pedestal is the leading inscription "The Great War 1914–1919" followed by the inscription derived from the King George V's message to the next of kin of the dead of the British Empire, > In grateful remembrance of the men of this town who at their country's call > left all that was dear to them to hazard their lives that others might live > in freedom. Their name liveth for evermore. The southern elevation contains the words "THINE O LORD / IS THE VICTORY" surmounted by a cross.
Their accounts are all similar to that of Apollonius of Rhodes, with a few variations and additional details. In his Heroides 6, Ovid has Hypsipyle, in an angry letter, rebuke Jason for having forsaken her for Medea, whom she says "intrudes upon my marriage-bed".Ovid, Heroides 6.153. She says that Jason spent two years on Lemnos, and that, although he promised her "thine own will I ever be", and told her of his hope to share in the parenting of their offspring then in her womb, she now knows that Jason has taken up with Medea, and calls all these words of Jason "lies".
Nyman did not base his score on that he wrote for Prospero's Books, but began a new score from scratch, occasionally interpolating music from the previous score as is his wont. He chose not to set Ariel's songs or the Masque, which he had already set, but he allows for them to be interpolated into the opera. Some of the music, such as in "The fringed curtains of thine eye advance" and "Ye elves" are known to be derived from La Traversée de Paris. The instrumental piece that became "Ye elves" is retitled "Miranda Previsted" on The Very Best of Michael Nyman: Film Music 1980-2001.
Others have likened some aspects of Akhenaten's relationship with the Aten to the relationship, in Christian tradition, between Jesus Christ and God, particularly interpretations that emphasize a more monotheistic interpretation of Atenism than a henotheistic one. Donald B. Redford has noted that some have viewed Akhenaten as a harbinger of Jesus. "After all, Akhenaten did call himself the son of the sole god: 'Thine only son that came forth from thy body'." James Henry Breasted likened him to Jesus, Arthur Weigall saw him as a failed precursor of Christ and Thomas Mann saw him "as right on the way and yet not the right one for the way".

Pope John denied this request and was subsequently arrested and imprisoned for two weeks during the reign of the Fatimid caliph Al-Zafir. During John's papacy, the expression Life-giving was added to the liturgical confession, which became: This is the Life-giving Flesh that Thine Only-Begotten Son, Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, took from our Lady .... Pope John V died on 4 Pashons, 882 A.M. (29 April 1166 AD) after 18 years, 8 months, and 4 days on the Throne of Saint Mark.
The translators have sought to follow the principles of translation used in the original King James Version, which the NKJV revisers call "complete equivalence" in contrast to "dynamic equivalence" used by many contemporary translations. The task of updating the English of the KJV involved significant changes in word order, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. One of the most significant features of the NKJV was its replacement of early modern second- person pronouns, such as "thou" and "thine"; and corresponding verb forms, such as "speakest"; with their twentieth-century equivalents. The Executive Editor of the NKJV, Arthur L. Farstad, addressed textual concerns in a book explaining the NKJV translation philosophy.
In "To Thine Own Self" Clay meets with Tig telling him he missed having him at his side and will always have a spot open for him. Tig refuses stating that Clay broke up their friendship and leaves. When Jax reveals a new deal allowing the Club to leave the cartel by delegating the muling and gun-running to the Mayans and Triads respectively, Tig votes yes and is shown to have a new level of respect and admiration for Jax. In the season finale, Jax takes Tig to a garage in the middle of nowhere to allow Pope to murder him per their deal.
There was also a Dear Lover double album planned titled Wear Your Wounds to be released on Icarus Records. In January, 2005 Dear Lover recordings were said to have been in the editing and mixing process, and it was believed there would be multiple releases of Dear Lover recordings which included the Wear Your Wounds double album throughout the year, however this did not happen. In March 2008 the single "The Blood of Thine Enemies" was released on Deathwish, Bannon released the song under the name J.Bannon. Bannon has said the song was never intended it to be part of an album, only to be a stand-alone piece.

Vladimir Nabokov's short story "The Vane Sisters" is known for its acrostic final paragraph, which contains a message from beyond the grave. An acrostic poem written in English by Edgar Allan Poe is entitled simply "An Acrostic": Elizabeth it is in vain you say "Love not"—thou sayest it in so sweet a way: In vain those words from thee or L.E.L. V-by-One HS is an electrical digital signaling standard that can run at faster speeds over inexpensive twisted-pair copper cables than Low-voltage differential signaling, or LVDS. It was originally developed by THine Electronics, Inc. in 2007 for high-definition televisions but since 2010 V-by- One HS has been widely adopted in various markets such as document processing, automotive infotainment systems, industrial cameras and machine vision, robotics and amusement equipments. While high-definition televisions had generally used LVDS to transmit pixel data, timing-skew problems among conductors appeared by increasing data rate based on requirements of higher- resolution and more color-depth.
The Deathless Sermon was a sermon given during the decline of Hyper-Calvinism in England. It was preached by Particular Baptist Minister, William Carey on 30 May, 1792 at the Friar Lane Baptist Chapel in Nottingham as an effort to arouse his pastoral contemporaries to intentional evangelistic action. The message is rooted in the text of Isaiah 54:2-3: : Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

And thine only-begotten Son, our Lord and God Jesus Christ, is holy …"; and so he comes to the words of Institution: "in the night in which He was betrayed, taking bread in His holy and blameless hands and looking up to Thee, His God and Father, and breaking He gave to His disciples saying: This is the Mystery of the New Testament; take of it, eat. This is My blood shed for many for the remission of sins.
Unlike with other noun phrases which only have a single possessive form, personal pronouns in English have two possessive forms: possessive determiners (used to form noun phrases such as "her success") and possessive pronouns (used in place of nouns as in "I prefer hers", and also in predicative expressions as in "the success was hers"). In most cases these are different from each other. For example, the pronoun I has possessive determiner my and possessive pronoun mine; you has your and yours; he has his for both; she has her and hers; it has its for both; we has our and ours; they has their and theirs. The archaic thou has thy and thine.
For this purpose, there are often smaller "kissing icons" hung on doorposts of Holy Doors (on the picture above, they can be seen as two small gold squares to either side of the Holy Doors). If there are no "kissing icons" they will venerate the major icons of Christ and the Theotokos on the Iconostasis. As they venerate the icon of Christ, the deacon says the following troparion: > We venerate Thy most pure icon, O Pure One, asking the forgiveness of our > transgressions, O Christ God. For of Thine own will Thou was well-pleased to > ascend the Cross, that Thou mightest deliver from bondage to the enemy them > whom Thou didst fashion.
During the Parliament of 1397 he was one of the pledges for the prosecution of Thomas, duke of Gloucester. He was elected Knight of the Garter in 1399, the last in the reign of Richard II. He is generally supposed to have been the Vache referred to in Chaucer's poem Truth which says " Therfore, thou Vache, leve thine olde wrechednesse; Unto the world leve now to be thral.". It supposedly refers to a period between 1386 and 1389 when Vache was out of favour at court and had temporarily lost his positions there. His father-in-law, Sir Lewis Clifford, was a close friend of Chaucer's and Chaucer knew Sir Philip well.
English derives from Old English (sometimes referred to as Anglo-Saxon), a West Germanic variety, although its current vocabulary includes words from many languages. The American educator: a library of universal knowledge ..., Volume 3 By Charles Smith Morris, Amos Emerson Dolbear The Old English roots may be seen in the similarity of numbers in English and German, particularly seven/sieben, eight/acht, nine/neun, and ten/zehn. Pronouns are also cognate: I/mine/me and ich/mein/mich; thou/thine/thee and du/dein/dich; we/wir and us/uns; she/sie; your/ihr. '" The Methodist funeral liturgy for non- Christians beseeches God to "look favorably ... upon those ... who scarcely knew your grace. ...Grant mercy also to those who have departed this life in ignorance or defiance of you. We plead for them in the spirit of him who prayed, 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'" Likewise, the Church of England, mother Church of the Anglican Communion, has a prayer for the unlearned: "God of infinite mercy and justice, who has made man in thine own image, and hatest nothing thou hast made, we rejoice in thy love for all creation and commend all mankind to thee, that in them thy will be done.
Abel then told Cain that in murdering him, he would carry the weight not only of his sin but also of the sins of his victim: "'For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as thine, for thou wilt be among the companions of the fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong.'" The victim, as a result, in suffering the injustice, would be forgiven his own sins and the murderer, while being warned, would consequently increase his own sin. Abel preached powerfully and reminded Cain that the punishment for murder would be that he would spend the afterlife in the fires of Hell.
The secret doctrine might not be discussed in public. Ecclesiasticus inveighs against its study: "Seek not out the things that are too hard for thee, neither search the things that are above thy strength. But what is commanded thee, think thereupon with reverence; for it is not needful for thee to see with thine eyes the things that are in secret."Ecclesiasticus 3:21-22 The Mishnah says: "Ma'aseh Bereshit must not be explained before two, nor Ma'aseh Merkavah before one, unless he be wise and understands it by himself";Hagigah 2:1 The Talmud then goes on to explain that the chapter- headings of Ma'aseh Merkavah may be taught, as was done by R. Hiyya.

More recently, Faith's songs on Moorish poetry evoke an exotic, middle eastern quality. In the beautiful setting of Ben Jonson's "To Celia" (commonly known as "Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes"), Faith, by stressing the poem's inherent passion, brings a fresh outlook to a lyric which had become too familiar in arrangements of the old English setting. He achieves this through an operatically conceived vocal line: high and sustained, and encompassing a range of an octave and a fifth. Two works that do not necessarily fall into specific stylistic categories, but deserve mention nonetheless, are Percy Bysshe Shelley's "Music When Soft Voices Die" and the miniature "Remember Me" by the Victorian Christina Rossetti.

Most of her poetry relates to her journeys, classical Greek and romantic themes, and ironic commentary on the Habsburg dynasty. Her wanderlust is defined by her own work: O'er thee, like thine own sea birds I'll circle without rest For me earth holds no corner To build a lasting nest. While in Berlin, she and friends discussed the benefits of teaching where students were cross-trained in both piano and voice, which would be advantageous to both. Such study would prevent pianists from losing the melodic focus and being overly technical and singers would gain technique rather than focusing solely on performance. As early as 1885, she was publishing songs and collaborating with poets for lyrics, including such works as "Cradle Song", "A Million Little Diamonds", "Only Thine Own Mine Art", "The Quest" and "She Kisses with her Eyes". Smith gained a reputation as a songwriter by the early 1890s and many of her works were translated into German during this period.
Divine Worship: The Missal provides the following Collect for use at Masses, Mattins, and Evensong in the Catholic Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham: :O GOD, who providest for thy people by thy power, and rulest over them in love: vouchsafe so to bless thy Servant our King (Queen); that under him (her) this nation may be wisely governed, and grant that he (she) being devoted to thee with his (her) whole heart, and persevering in good works unto the end, may, by thy guidance, come to thine everlasting kingdom; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
At the Phelonion: Your priests, Lord, shall clothe themselves with righteousness, and Your saints shall rejoice in joy, at all times, now and always and for ever and ever. Amen. After that priest and deacon go to the basin and wash their hands, saying: I will wash my hands in innocency; so will I compass Thine altar, O Lord, That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, and tell of all Thy wondrous works. LORD, I love the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thy glory dwelleth. Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with men of blood; In whose hands is craftiness, and their right hand is full of bribes.
Levellers' views on the right to property and the right not to be deprived of property as a civil and political right were developed by the pamphleteer Richard Overton. In "An Arrow against all Tyrants" (1646), Overton argued: > To every individual in nature is given an individual property by nature not > to be invaded or usurped by any. For everyone, as he is himself, so he has a > self propertiety, else he could not be himself; and of this no second may > presume to deprive of without manifest violation and affront to the very > principles of nature of the rules of equity and justice between man and man. > Mine and thine cannot be, except this.
The form of absolution provided in the order for the Visitation of the Sick reads, "Our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath left power to his Church to absolve all sinners who truly repent and believe in him, of his great mercy forgive thee thine offences: And by his authority committed to me, I absolve thee from all thy sins, In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."1662 BCP: The Order for the Visitation of the Sick, p. 4 of 7. Despite the provision for private confession in every edition of the Book of Common Prayer, the practice was frequently contested during the Ritualist controversies of the later nineteenth century.
Faithful cross, true sign of triumph, Be for all the noblest tree; None in foliage, none in blossom, None in fruit thine equal be; Symbol of the world's redemption, For the weight that hung on thee! Unto God be praise and glory: To the Father and the Son, To the eternal Spirit honor Now and evermore be done; Praise and glory in the highest, While the timeless ages run. The hymn is often sung in English with either the original Mode III tune or the tune FORTUNATUS NEW. The hymn was also loosely adapted into English as 'Praise the Savior' by the nineteenth-century Swedish minister Johan Wallin and set to the tune UPP, MIN TUNGA.
Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji's prescription: "Do not be angry with any one; search your own self and live in the world with humility. Shaikh Farid, a thirteenth-century Muslim saint whose compositions are preserved in the Sikh Scripture, says in one of his couplets: "O Farid, do good to him who hath done thee evil and do not nurse anger in thy heart; no disease will then afflict thy body and all felicities shall be thine" (GG, 1381-82). Righteous indignation against evil, injustice and tyranny is, however, not to be equated with krodh as an undesirable passion.
She presents herself also as a foe to negativism: "Nought I condemn but that Excess which clouds/The mental Faculties, to soothe the Sense:/Let Reason, Truth, and Virtue, guide thy Steps,/And ev'ry Blessing Heav'n bestows be thine."The final four lines of "The Pleasures of Contemplation" (1764) Retrieved 10 January 2016. Commentary by the theologian John Calvin relates this psalm to the belief that God had appointed a succession of rulers on Earth, starting with David and eventually leading to the messiah, who Calvin identified as Jesus. Calvin also implies that this psalm does not refer to a specific king, but to all kings. The Jerusalem Bible identifies both messianic and eschatological themes, and commends the application of this psalm to the idea of "Christ the King".Jerusalem Bible (1966), footnote a at the start of Psalm 21 Verse 9, the time of thine anger in the King James Version, the day that you appear in the Jerusalem Bible, and the reference to a blazing furnace "suggest a more ... eschatological perspective".
The music behind the opening credits of the series is an excerpt from the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from the ballet Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian. Other background music includes excerpts from Ralph Vaughan Williams's Symphony No. 5, Manuel de Falla's The Three-Cornered Hat, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 and Jean Sibelius's Tapiola, symphonic poem for orchestra. Traditional music, including folk songs and sea shanties in particular, are heard in abundance throughout the series, including such songs as "The Maid of Amsterdam," "Ruben Ranzo," "South Australia," "Maggie May," "The Sailor's Hornpipe," "Botany Bay," "Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes," "A Hundred Years Ago," "Blow the Man Down," and "On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at".
The Southern Gothic style-song is told from the perspective of a woman named Fancy, approximately thirty-three years old, looking back to the summer she was 18. Fancy's family (consisting of Fancy, a baby sibling whose gender is not mentioned, and their mother; the father having abandoned them) lived in poverty — "a one room, rundown shack on the outskirts of New Orleans". Her mother is terminally ill and has no one to care for the baby. In a last, desperate act to save Fancy from the vicious cycle of poverty, her mother spends her last money to buy Fancy a red "dancing dress", makeup and perfume, and a locket inscribed with the phrase "To thine own self be true".
According to the Vita by Sulpicius Severus: ::It so happened that the reader, whose duty it was to read in public that day, being blocked out by the people, failed to appear, the officials falling into confusion, while they waited for him who never came, one of those standing by, laying hold of the Psalter, seized upon the first verse which presented itself to him. Now, the Psalm ran thus: "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise because of thine enemies, that thou mightest destroy the enemy and the avenger." On these words being read, a shout was raised by the people, and the opposite party were confounded. It was believed that this Psalm had been chosen by Divine ordination.
Manifest thy > power as ever; for trusting in thee we cry aloud unto thee: Hail! as > afforetime did Gabriel, Chief Captain of the Bodiless Powers. The priest then removes his klobuk or kamilavka, bows his head, and gesturing with his right hand towards the Holy Doors, he says: > Stretch forth Thy hand, O Lord, from thy holy dwelling-place on high, and > strengthen me for this, Thine appointed service; that standing uncondemned > before Thy dread Throne, I may fulfill the sacred, bloodless sacrifice. They then make three metanias in front of the Holy Doors, bow to each other, and then to either side of the nave and enter the altar (sanctuary) by the two side doors ("Deacon's Doors") of the iconostasis.

The libretto, an abridgement of Shakespeare's play (with some slight wording changes) is divided into seventeen sections: #If by your Art, my dearest father (Act I, Scene 2) #Alas, poor Milan! (Act I, Scene 2) #Be't to fly (Act I, Scene 2) #This damned witch Sycorax (Act I, Scene 2) #The fringed curtains of thine eye advance (Act I, Scene 2) #There's nothing ill can dwell in such a temple (Act I, Scene 2) #How lush and lusty the grass looks! (Act II, Scene 1) #Riches, poverty, and use of service, none (Act II, Scene 1) #Sometime like apes/The master, the gunner,Shakespeare's text has "swabber" here, with "gunner" on the next line. Nyman's version has "gunner" in both places.
Redford argued that while Akhenaten called himself the son of the Sun-Disc and acted as the chief mediator between god and creation, kings had claimed the same relationship and priestly role for thousands of years before Akhenaten's time. However Akhenaten's case may be different through the emphasis that he placed on the heavenly father and son relationship. Akhenaten described himself as being "thy son who came forth from thy limbs", "thy child", "the eternal son that came forth from the Sun- Disc", and "thine only son that came forth from thy body". The close relationship between father and son is such that only the king truly knows the heart of "his father", and in return his father listens to his son's prayers.
There is a specific reference to a Talmudic legend in The Second Maiden’s Tragedy named Mariamme, which can be seen as a direct influence in the play. It appears in ib. Iii 115–120,“I once read of a Herod, whose affection/pursued a virgin's love, as I did thine, who for the hate she owed him killed himself, as thou too rashly didst, without all pity “. The woman, Mariamne commits suicide, throwing herself off a roof, in order to save herself from marrying Herod, who killed everyone else in her family. This is similar to The Second Maiden’s Tragedy because the Lady kills herself in order to escape the Tyrant, and she has no other family besides her imprisoned father, Helvetius.
Some Christians, such as Bill Gothard, of Institute in Basic Life Principles, hold that rhema are an integral part of even being able to claim to be Christian. He says that as "'No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost" (I Corinthians 12:3). Therefore, it is appropriate for the message of salvation to be a rhema." He goes on to cite "'The word [rhema] is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word [rhema] of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved….
Sonnet 26 is a typical English or Shakespearean sonnet, formed of three quatrains and a couplet, having a rhyme scheme of ABAB CDCD EFEF GG. It is composed in iambic pentameter, a type of poetic metre based on five pairs of metrically weak/strong syllabic positions per line. The seventh line exemplifies a regular iambic pentameter line. The next contains a final extrametrical syllable or feminine ending, of which this sonnet has six; it also exhibits an ictus moved to the right (resulting in a four-position figure, `× × / /`, sometimes referred to as a minor ionic): But that I hope some good conceit of thine In thy soul's thought, all naked, will bestow it: (26.7-8) :/ = ictus, a metrically strong syllabic position. × = nonictus.
THine announced the development of the transmission lines for V-by- One US on June 5, 2017. The new specification allows data rates up to 16 Gbit/s per lane, which is 4 times faster than the 4 Gbit/s of V-by-One HS. It enables 4K 60 Hz displays over 2 lanes and 8K 60 Hz displays over 8 lanes. On September 21, 2018, the company announced it had working samples of the V-by- One US chipset ready. The chipset supports two 16 Gbit/s signalling lanes, which enables a 4K display or four 1080p displays at 60 Hz. The chipset is able to data between 8-lane V-by-One HS and 2-lane V-by-One US.
She herself always insisted on their platonic nature and characterises her relationships as the "meeting of souls," as in these lines from "To my Excellent Lucasia, on our Friendship": > For as a watch by art is wound To motion, such was mine; But never had > Orinda found A soul till she found thine; Which now inspires, cures, and > supplies, And guides my darkened breast; For thou art all that I can prize, > My joy, my life, my rest. (9–16) Harriette Andreadis has argued that 'her manipulations of the conventions of male poetic discourse constitute a form of lesbian writing.'Harriette Andreadis, 'The Sapphic-Platonics of Katherine Philips, 1632–1664', Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society, 1989. The sonnets published in 1609 seem to be rebelling against the tradition. In the play Love’s Labour’s Lost, the King and his three lords have all vowed to live like monks, to study, to give up worldly things, and to see no women. All of them break the last part of the vow by falling in love. The lord Longaville expresses his love in a sonnet (“Did not the heavenly rhetoric of thine eye…”),Shakespeare, William. Love’s Labour’s Lost, IV,iii,56–59 and the lord Berowne does, too—a hexameter sonnet (“If love make me forsworn, how shall I swear to love?”).Shakespeare, William. Love’s Labour’s Lost, IV,ii,104–117 These sonnets contain comic imperfections, including awkward phrasing, and problems with the meter.
At the time Harvington was Wing Commander R G G F Harvington RAuxAF and Conservative member for North St Pancras. He felt it appropriate to quote this 18th-century prophecy: :"The time will come, when thou shalt lift thine eyes, :To watch a long drawn battle in the skies, :While aged peasants, too amazed for words, :Stare at the flying fleets of wond'rous birds, :England so long the mistress of the sea, :Where winds and waves confess her sovereignty, :Her ancient triumph yet on high shall bear, :And reign, the sovereign of the conquered air." However the quotation is misleading and based on selective editing of the original in which 'the battle' is a fleet of ships invading the moon and the aged peasants are moon-dwellers.
The Golden Dawn LBRP consists of three main parts, in this order: #Qabalistic Cross, sometimes repeated at the end of the LBRP. This is meant to construct an astral cross in the body of the magician, with points corresponding to Sephiroth on the Tree of Life. While constructing this cross, the magician vibrates Hebrew words from the last few lines of the Lord's Prayer (Thine is the kingdom, etc.). #Formulation of the Pentagrams, in which a banishing earth pentagram (for the Banishing Ritual) or an invoking pentagram (for the Invoking Ritual) is drawn in the air at each of the four cardinal points and an associated name of God is vibrated (YHVH, ADNI, AHIH and AGLA for East, South, West and North respectively).
In The Talents (play 24), Pontius Pilate delivers a rhyming speech in mixed English and Latin. A number of English political poems in the 14th century alternated (Middle) English and Latin lines, such as in MS Digby 196: > The taxe hath tened [ruined] vs alle, Probat hoc mors tot validorum The Kyng > þerof had small fuit in manibus cupidorum. yt had ful hard hansell, dans > causam fine dolorum; vengeaunce nedes most fall, propter peccata malorum > (etc) Several Anthems also contain both Latin and English. In the case of 'Nolo mortem pecatoris' by Thomas Morley, the Latin is used as a refrain: > Nolo mortem peccatoris; Haec sunt verba Salvatoris. Father I am thine only > Son, sent down from heav’n mankind to save.
Historically flat panel televisions used LVDS as its internal interface to transmit pixel data but, in accordance with televisions’ higher resolution and expansion in color depth, televisions had to face problems such as increasing numbers of twisted-pair cables and tangible skews problems among cables. V-by-One HS is a standard of a high- speed SerDes, introducing CDR specification and equalizer, that achieves 3.75 Gbit/s (giga bits per second), solves skew problems, and reduces the power consumption and EMI. On behalf of such features, V-by-One HS enables to reduce total costs of interface systems, including costs of cables and connectors. V-by-One HS standard is an open standard and its specification has been delivered by THine Electronics.
It appears to have been first used in a pejorative sense by Ben Jonson to suggest a mere tradesman fashioning works for the theatre. Jonson uses the word in his Epigram 49, which is thought to refer to John Marston: :Epigram XLIX — On Playwright :PLAYWRIGHT me reads, and still my verses damns, :He says I want the tongue of epigrams ; :I have no salt, no bawdry he doth mean ; :For witty, in his language, is obscene. :Playwright, I loath to have thy manners known :In my chaste book ; I profess them in thine own. Jonson described himself as a poet, not a playwright, since plays during that time were written in meter and so were regarded as the province of poets.
According to these the ostiaries are first instructed in their duties by the archdeacon; after this he brings them before the bishop who takes the keys of the church from the altar and hands them to the candidate for ordination with the words: "Fulfil thine office to show that thou knowest that thou wilt give account to God concerning the things that are locked away under these keys." Then follows a prayer for the candidate and a prayer for the occasion that the bishop pronounces over him. This ceremony was also at a later date adopted by the Roman Church in its liturgy. In Latin Western Europe, outside of Rome, in the late Roman era and the one following, the ostiaries were still actually employed as guardians of the church buildings and of their contents.
Kiddushin 70a, b A lover of nature, Judah was a close observer of the animal and plant life around him. "When in the springtime you see Nature in her beauty, you shall thank God that He has formed such beautiful creatures and plants for the good of mankind".Rosh Hashana 11a Several of his explanations of natural phenomena have been preserved,Ta'anit 3b, 9b as well as etymologies of the names of animals and descriptions of their characteristics.Hullin 63a; Mo'ed Katan 6b; Shabbat 77b According to him, piety consists chiefly in fulfilling one's obligations to one's fellow creatures and in observing the laws of "meum et tuum" (Latin: "mine and thine", referring to the respect of private property): It was probably for this reason that he applied himself chiefly to the Mishnaic treatise Neziḳin.
The animating principle of the workshop was taken from Psalm 25.8: I have loved, O Lord, the beauty of Thy house; and the place where Thy glory dwelleth. This, coupled with Felix Granda's own aspiration: I am moved by the ideal of employing all my strength to make beautiful Thy temples and Thine altars, became the motto of Talleres de Arte. The emblem of the workshop depicted a man praying at the foot of an olive tree shedding many of its branches. The words that the man speaks are written on a banderole: Vetera novis augere et perficere (a motto of Pope Leo XIII: To augment and perfect the old by way of the new) and Defracti sunt rami ut ego insererer (Romans 11.19: The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in).
Kite flying is also part of the tradition, as it symbolises "trying to reach the Divine". The happy, springtime atmosphere of Clean Monday may seem at odds with the Lenten spirit of repentance and self-control, but this seeming contradiction is a marked aspect of the Orthodox approach to fasting, in accordance with the Gospel lesson () read on the morning before, which admonishes: When ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face, that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret... (v. 16–18).

Yet not to thine eternal resting-place Shalt thou retire alone, nor couldst thou wish Couch more magnificent. Thou shalt lie down With patriarchs of the infant world—with kings, The powerful of the earth—the wise, the good, Fair forms, and hoary seers of ages past, All in one mighty sepulchre. The hills Rock- ribbed and ancient as the sun,—the vales Stretching in pensive quietness between; The venerable woods—rivers that move In majesty, and the complaining brooks That make the meadows green; and, poured round all, Old Ocean’s gray and melancholy waste,— Are but the solemn decorations all Of the great tomb of man. The golden sun, The planets, all the infinite host of heaven, Are shining on the sad abodes of death, Through the still lapse of ages.
Jeffrey R. Holland has stated: > We believe these three divine persons constituting a single Godhead are > united in purpose, in manner, in testimony, in mission. We believe Them to > be filled with the same godly sense of mercy and love, justice and grace, > patience, forgiveness, and redemption. I think it is accurate to say we > believe They are one in every significant and eternal aspect imaginable > except believing Them to be three persons combined in one substance. Latter-day Saints interpret Jesus' prayer in , "Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are" to refer to the characteristics, attributes and purpose that the Son shares with the Father in the hope that people can someday share in those as well.
In modern hymnals, some stanzas are omitted, for example as in the New English Hymnal: 1 O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home; 2 Under the shadow of thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is thine arm alone, And our defence is sure. 3 Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting thou art God, To endless years the same. 4 A thousand ages in thy sight Are like an evening gone, Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun. 5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream, Bears all its sons away; They fly forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day.
Despite Nicolson's use of pseudonyms and fictionalised characters, it was apparent to some of her contemporaries that her poems were deeply personal, even confessional. The "Dedication to Malcom Nicolson" that prefaces her last collection, written shortly before her suicide, provides an ambiguous disclaimer regarding the autobiographical origins of her poetry: > I, who of lighter love wrote many a verse, > Made public never words inspired by thee, > Lest strangers' lips should carelessly rehearse > Things that were sacred and too dear to me. Thy soul was noble; through > these fifteen years > Mine eyes familiar, found no fleck nor flaw, > Stern to thyself, thy comrades' faults and fears > Proved generosity thine only law. Small joy was I to thee; before we met > Sorrow had left thee all too sad to save.
292 :Sudden, thy shadow fell on me; :I shrieked, and clasped my hands in ecstasy! (Lines 59–60) Once he learns of Intellectual Beauty, he makes a vow, which begins stanza six: :I vowed that I would dedicate my powers :To thee and thine – have I not kept the vow? Stanza seven continues with the vow: :Thus let thy power, which like the truth :Of nature on my passive youth :Descended, to my onward life supply :Its calm – to one who worships thee, :And every form containing thee, :Whom, Spirit fair, thy spells did bind :To fear himself, and love all human kind. (Lines 78–84) The narrator breaks from the Wordsworthian tradition by realising that Intellectual Beauty, and not manifestations of it in nature, is what should be worshipped.
A chant, entitled Alma Mater, appeared in the 1914 Owl student yearbook and may have been a candidate to become, or a predecessor of, the current University of Pittsburgh Alma Mater that first appeared in the 1916 Owl. The author, who may have been Baird, was credited simply as "B.-'09", and although no mention was made of possible accompanying music, the Owl contained the following lyrics. Alma Mater A Chant for Unwreathed Victory ———— O Thou, who tread'st, with valiant feet, The rugged road of hostile years, Whose lot hath been the glean-ed ears Snatched from a world of garnered wheat, O hungered tender of the vine Wright of unguerdoned husbandry, O thirst-irked treaderout of wine Red crushed for others' revelry, Wreathed in new song, I bring to Thee The love of those whose hearts are thine.
The recension in Eusebius (E) can be found in Book XIII of Eusebius' Praeparatio Evangelica (Preparation for the Gospel), as translated in 1903 by E. H. Gifford. Within the HTML file, Pseudo-Orpheus is found in chapter 12, and consists of the first indented section of the chapter, from the words "I speak to those who lawfully may hear" to the words "store this doctrine in thine heart." The recension in Pseudo-Justin (J) can be found chapter 2 of Pseudo-Justin's De Monarchia in the poetic section which begins with the words, "I'll speak to those who lawfully may hear" and ending with the words, "The depths, too, of the blue and hoary sea." The translation is by G. Reith, as found in volume I of The Anti-Nicene Fathers, edited by Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson in 1885.

After occupying Halych in the early part of August, Vladimir requested his uncle Vsevolod III Yuryevich of Vladimir in Suzdalia to support his rule and, in return, promised to be Vsevolod Yuryevich's loyal vassal. He wrote to Vsevolod III Yuryevich: “My father and lord, help me to keep Galicia, and I shall be God’s and thine with all Galicia, always obedient to thy will.” Vsevolod III Yuryevich therefore demanded that all the princes pledge not to challenge Vladimir. In the autumn of 1196, Grand Prince Ryurik Rostislavich of Kiev sent his nephew Prince Mstislav Mstislavich of Trepol to Vladimir instructing him to join Mstislav Mstislavich in attacking the lands of Prince Roman Mstislavich of Vladimir-in-Volhynia who had attacked the domains of Ryurik Rostislavich's brother (Prince David Rostislavich of Smolensk) and son (Prince Rostislav Rurikovich of Torchesk).
It has effectively completely disappeared from Modern Standard English. The translators of the King James Version of the Bible (begun 1604 and published 1611, while Shakespeare was at the height of his popularity) had a particular reason for keeping the "thou/thee/thy/thine" forms that were slowly beginning to fall out of spoken use, as it enabled them to match the Hebrew and Ancient Greek distinction between second person singular ("thou") and plural ("ye"). It was not to denote reverence (in the King James Version, God addresses individual people and even Satan as "thou") but only to denote the singular. Over the centuries, however, the very fact that "thou" was dropping out of normal use gave it a special aura and so it gradually came to be used to express reverence in hymns and in prayers.

For pictures of the pacifist memorials at Gentioux-Pigerolles and at Équeurdreville-Hainneville and elsewhere see :fr:Monument aux morts pacifiste There seems to be no exact equivalent form of a pacifist memorial within the United Kingdom but evidently sentiments were in many cases identical. Thus, and although it seems that this has never been generally recognized, it can be argued that there was throughout the United Kingdom a construction of war memorials with reference to the concept of peace (e.g. West Hartlepool War Memorial in what is now known as Hartlepool (previously West Hartlepool) with the inscription 'Thine O Lord is the Victory' relating to amongst other architecture the 1871 Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences with a frieze including the same words and concluding 'Glory be to God on high and on earth peace').
B. Charlton, Shakespearean Tragedy (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1949), 105 When Marcus announces Titus' imminent arrival, he emphasises Titus' renowned honour and integrity; "And now at last, laden with honour's spoils,/Returns the good Andronicus to Rome,/Renowned Titus, flourishing in arms./Let us entreat by honour of his name/Whom worthily you would have now succeed" (ll.36–40). Marcus' reference to Titus' name is even itself an allusion to his nobility insofar as Titus' full title (Titus Pius) is an honorary epitaph which "refers to his devotion to patriotic duty."Waith (1984: 84n23) Bassianus then cites his own admiration for all of the Andronici; "Marcus Andronicus, so I do affy/In thy uprightness and integrity,/And so I love and honour thee and thine,/Thy noble brother Titus, and his sons" (ll.47–50).
Recite them when you stay at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as sign on your hand and let them serve as a symbol on your forehead; inscribe them on the doorposts of your house and your gates” (Deut. 6:6-9). Additionally, children are advised to seek the instruction of their parents: "Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask thy father, and he will declare unto thee, thine elders, and they will tell thee" (Deut. 32:7). The Book of Proverbs also contains many verses related to education: “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your mind retain my commandments; For they will bestow on you length of days, years of life and well-being“ (Prov. 3:1-2).
2005 It is the earliest text to refer to this rite as the Eucharist. Chapter 9 begins: > Now concerning the Eucharist, give thanks this way. First, concerning the > cup: We thank thee, our Father, for the holy vine of David Thy servant, > which Thou madest known to us through Jesus Thy Servant; to Thee be the > glory for ever... And concerning the broken bread: > We thank Thee, our Father, for the life and knowledge which Thou madest > known to us through Jesus Thy Servant; to Thee be the glory for ever. Even > as this broken bread was scattered over the hills, and was gathered together > and became one, so let Thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the > earth into Thy kingdom; for Thine is the glory and the power through Jesus > Christ for ever.
FPD-Link became the de facto open standard for this notebook application in the late 1990s and is still the dominant display interface today in notebook and tablet computers. This is the reason IC vendors such as Texas Instruments, Maxim, Fairchild, and Thine produce their versions of the FPD-Link chipset. FPD Link I serializer The applications for LVDS expanded to flat panel displays for consumer TVs as screen resolutions and color depths increased. To serve this application, FPD-Link chipsets continued to increase the data-rate and the number of parallel LVDS channels to meet the internal TV requirement for transferring video data from the main video processor to the display-panel's timing controller. FPD-Link (commonly called LVDS) became the de facto standard for this internal TV interconnect and remains the dominant interface for this application in 2012.
Morris has created eight works for the San Francisco Ballet since 1994, including the first American production of Delibes' Sylvia; three works for American Ballet Theatre including Gong with music by Colin McPhee and Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes with music by Virgil Thomson; and has also received commissions from the Joffrey Ballet and the Boston Ballet, among others. In 2009, the San Francisco Ballet toasted 15 years of collaborations with Morris by presenting the first all-Morris program, performing A Garden (2001), Joyride (2008) and Sandpaper Ballet (1999). His work is in the repertory of Ballet British Columbia, Ballet West, Boston Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Washington Ballet. Morris' ballets have also been performed by English National Ballet, Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Royal Ballet, and the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Prior to this period, Joseph Smith had promoted a non-violent policy, but this era of pacifism was coming to an end. In August 1833, Smith recorded a revelation that stated: This revelation encouraged church members "to bear it patiently and revile not" when "men will smite you, or your families" yet also justified self-defense: If, after being endangered three times, "he has sought thy life and thy life is endangered by him, thine enemy is in thy hands and thou art justified." Prior to 1838, the Latter Day Saint movement had two centers—one in Kirtland, Ohio and the other in northwestern Missouri. The headquarters and First Presidency of the church were in Kirtland, while the Missouri church was led by a Stake Presidency made up of David Whitmer, W. W. Phelps, and John Whitmer.
Thoth was inserted in many tales as the wise counselor and persuader, and his association with learning and measurement led him to be connected with Seshat, the earlier deification of wisdom, who was said to be his daughter, or variably his wife. Thoth's qualities also led to him being identified by the Greeks with their closest matching god Hermes, with whom Thoth was eventually combined as Hermes Trismegistus, leading to the Greeks' naming Thoth's cult center as Hermopolis, meaning city of Hermes. In the Papyrus of Ani copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead the scribe proclaims "I am thy writing palette, O Thoth, and I have brought unto thee thine ink-jar. I am not of those who work iniquity in their secret places; let not evil happen unto me."The Book of the Dead by E. A. Wallis Budge, 1895, Gramercy, 1999, p.
The fourth season maintained the darker look and feel of the third one and was the first in which no major cast changes took place. Noel Neill and Jack Larson (who portrayed Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen on the 1950s TV series Adventures of Superman) made guest appearances in the episode "Paranoia" as employees of the Bureau for Extra-Normal Matters. The trend of more mature stories also continued in episodes such as "To Be Human", in which Bizarro becomes human, only to be forced to give up his humanity to save Superboy's life and "Into the Mystery", in which a mystical, ghostly woman, apparently an angel of death, leads Superboy to his dying aunt's bedside. A memorable Luthor tale, "Know Thine Enemy", appeared in this season, featuring Superboy re-living Luthor's tortured memories of childhood via "psychodisk" while Luthor threatened to destroy all life on Earth.
The play is not thought to have been written any later than 1607, since, as Kermode notes, there are "fairly clear allusions to the play in 1607." One notable reference is in Francis Beaumont's Knight of the Burning Pestle, first performed in 1607. The following lines (Act V, Scene 1, 24–30) are, according to scholars, a clear allusion to the scene in which Banquo's ghost haunts Macbeth at the dinner table: > When thou art at thy table with thy friends, Merry in heart, and filled with > swelling wine, I'll come in midst of all thy pride and mirth, Invisible to > all men but thyself, And whisper such a sad tale in thine ear Shall make > thee let the cup fall from thy hand, And stand as mute and pale as death > itself. Simon Forman saw Macbeth at the Globe in 1610 or 1611.
In the Divine Liturgy of the Byzantine Rite, the priest sings, after the last line of the prayer, the doxology, "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages." Adding a doxology to the Our Father is not part of the liturgical tradition of the Roman Rite nor does the Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome contain the doxology that appears in late Greek manuscripts. However, it is recited since 1970 in the Roman Rite Order of Mass, not as part of the Lord's Prayer but separately as a response acclamation after the embolism developing the seventh petition in the perspective of the Final Coming of Christ. The Anglican Book of Common Prayer sometimes gives the Lord's Prayer with the doxology, sometimes without.
The name agora actually refers to three kinds of currencies that were used in Israel throughout its history. All of them have been subdivisions of the main currency units. This name was used for the first time in 1960, when the Israeli government decided to change the subdivision of the Israeli lira (a.k.a. Israeli pound) from 1000 prutot to 100 agorot.Banknotes and Coins of Israel: 1927–2006, Yigal Arkin, Bank of Israel, Currency Dept., 2006, p.91 The name was suggested by the Academy of the Hebrew Language, and was borrowed from the Hebrew Bible, I Samuel 2:36 ...every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver... (the term "piece of silver" appears in Hebrew as "agorat kessef"). In 1980 the Israeli lira was abolished and replaced by the shekel at a rate of 10 IP per 1 shekel.

Words of the prayer from Raccolta: :Most glorious Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, turn thine eyes in pity upon us, miserable sinners; we are sore afflicted by the many evils that surround us in this life, but especially do we feel our hearts break within us upon hearing the dreadful insults and blasphemies uttered against thee, O Virgin Immaculate. O how these impious sayings offend the infinite Majesty of God and of His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ! How they provoke His indignation and give us cause to fear the terrible effects of His vengeance! Would that the sacrifice of our lives might avail to put an end to such outrages and blasphemies; were it so, how gladly we should make it, for we desire, O most holy Mother, to love thee and to honor thee with all our hearts, since this is the will of God.
One of the stories about the Imam concerns an incident where Harun al-Rashid and the Imam were together before the tomb of Muhammad in Medina, when, to show his family ties to Muhammad, al-Rashid had said, "Salutation unto thee, O Prophet of God, unto thee who art my cousin!" In response, the Imam said, "Salutation unto thee, o my dear father!" which made al-Rashid furious. "Abul-Hasan, such glory as thine is truly to be vaunted of" said al-Rashid. Later, al-Rashid found the opportunity to question him, asking why he had permitted people to ascribe him to Muhammad and to call him: "O Sons of Allah's Apostle", while he was actually the son of Ali, and that one is ascribed to his father, and that Fatimah, his mother, was a container, and that Muhammad was his grandfather on the side of his mother.
Sirius, and the spider, and thy thoughts at this moment, and this last thought of thine that all things will return". However, he also expresses his thought at greater length when he says to his reader: > "Whoever thou mayest be, beloved stranger, whom I meet here for the first > time, avail thyself of this happy hour and of the stillness around us, and > above us, and let me tell thee something of the thought which has suddenly > risen before me like a star which would fain shed down its rays upon thee > and every one, as befits the nature of light. – Fellow man! Your whole life, > like a sandglass, will always be reversed and will ever run out again, – a > long minute of time will elapse until all those conditions out of which you > were evolved return in the wheel of the cosmic process.
This refers to the legend of St Mungo and is featured in Glasgow's civic and ecclesiastical heraldry since the sixteenth century. This addition alludes to the fact that Philip Tartaglia is a Glaswegian by birth, that he is a former pupil of St Mungo's Academy and is an ordained priest of the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Conforming to heraldic rules, the colours that feature in the arms – green, white and red – correspond to the Italian Tricolour, in reference to the bishop's family origins and to the years spent in Rome at the Pontifical Scots College, first as an undergraduate and post-graduate student, from 1969 to 1980, and ultimately as rector from May 2004 until November 2005, when he was ordained bishop. Tartaglia's motto, taken from the Latin hymn O Salutaris Hostia by St Thomas Aquinas, is Da Robur, Fer Auxilium ("Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow").
The book's title is taken from the metaphysical poet John Donne's series of meditations and prayers on health, pain, and sickness (written while Donne was convalescing from a nearly fatal illness) published in 1624 as Devotions upon Emergent Occasions, specifically Meditation XVII. Hemingway quotes part of the meditation (using Donne's original spelling) in the book's epigraph. Donne refers to the practice of funeral tolling, universal in his time. > No man is an Island, intire of it selfe; every man is a piece of the > Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe > is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of > thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I > am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell > tolls; It tolls for thee.
The Hebrew Bible requires immersion of the body in water as a means of purification in several circumstances, for example: : And when the zav is cleansed of his issue, then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes; and he shall bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean. There are also references to hand-washing: : And whoever the zav touchs, without having rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening. : I will wash my hands in innocency; so will I compass Thine altar, O LORD. Priests were required to wash their hands and feet before service in the Temple: :Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and the base thereof of brass, whereat to wash; and thou shalt put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.
Near the end of the video, Fancy visits her mother's grave in the backyard of the shack and sees her mother's ghost standing nearby. She tells her that she understands now and forgives her. As the video ends, Fancy departs in her taxi and a large sign is seen in the front yard that says that the property is to be the future home of the Fancy Rae Baker Home for Runaways, dedicated to the memory of her late mother, with the home's motto "to thine own self be true" (the engraving on the locket Fancy's mother gave her before she left, which she threw down before leaving but retrieved at her return and placed on her mother's gravestone). Though the song's lyrics indicate that the events described took place in the summer Fancy turned 18, in the video, the clothing worn by the characters, and the surrounding bare foliage, would appear to indicate winter conditions in southern Louisiana.
Despite the revisions undertaken by the LCMS, many members and congregations still rejected LW due to what many viewed as unnecessary and awkward modifications in language to well-known materials. Objections centered on the modifications made to Divine Service I and a number of well-known hymns. Following the precedent set by the LBW and the common trend around North American Christianity at the time, archaic language was widely updated, resulting in worshipers frequently stumbling over hymn verses and passages that had been familiar to them for many years. Examples of hymns that were significantly altered in the new hymnal include "My Faith Looks Up to Thee", "I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus", and "We Give Thee But Thine Own", all of which are well-known and familiar hymns among Lutherans but were heavily modified in LW ("My Faith Looks Up to Thee" is perhaps the most notorious example of all, as its first line was changed to "My Faith Looks Trustingly").
He also wrote a testamentary deposition, explicitly nominating him > [i.e. Ezel] as his successor [Walí], and added, 'Write the eight [unwritten] > Váḥids of the Beyán, and, if " He whom God shall manifest" should appear in > His power in thy time, abrogate the Beyán; and put into practice that which > we shall inspire into thine heart.' Now the mystery of his bestowing his > effects on Ezel according to the 'Number of the Unity' is perfectly evident, > namely that he intended the inner meaning thereof, that it might be known to > all his followers that after himself Ezel should bear the Divine influences. > And his object in explicitly nominating him as his successor also was to re- > assure the hearts of the weak, so that they might not be bewildered as to > his real nature, but that enemies and friends alike might know that there is > no intermission in God's grace, and that God's religion is a thing which > must be made manifest.
Rose Bowl, 1946. In reaction to public displeasure with the way tickets had been distributed for the 1946 Rose Bowl game, Warburton introduced a resolution that would have the City Council sponsor an "intersectional contest" in the Coliseum with all tickets, with the exception of a limited number assigned to competing colleges, 'sold to citizens on a first-come, first served basis.'""Council Moves for Competition With Rose Bowl," Los Angeles Times, December 28, 1946, page A-1 Shakespeare, 1947 Warburton suggested to his fellow councilmen that a quotation from William Shakespeare be placed in the City Council chamber to remind them all of the duties of their office, specifically, > This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night > the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. Member G. Vernon Bennett suggested "But too many issues confuse the politician," and Warburton responded with another Shakespeare quotation, "I have said too much unto a heart of stone.
Accessed 2007-04-02. The position of Lazarus Saturday is summed up in the first sticheron chanted at vespers on Friday:The Orthodox Church follows the Jewish tradition of beginning the day at sunset; thus, Lazarus Saturday begins at Friday vespers. Having completed the forty days that bring profit to our soul, we beseech Thee in Thy love for man: Grant us also to behold the Holy Week of Thy Passion, that in it we may glorify Thy mighty acts and Thine ineffable dispensation for our sakes, singing with one mind: O Lord, glory to Thee. During Friday vespers the reading of Genesis (which began on the first day of Great Lent) is concluded with the description of the death, burial and mourning of Jacob () and on Friday night, at compline, a Canon on the Raising of Lazarus by Saint Andrew of Crete is sung; this is a rare full canon, having all nine canticles.
In the second quatrain, the speaker says that the young man is not only betrothed to himself, but is also eating away at himself and will leave famine behind where there is abundance, thus making the young man's cruel self an enemy of his “sweet self”. Line five, "But thou, contracted to thine own bright eyes", suggests the young man is pledged to himself, as in a betrothal, but reduced to the small scope of his own eyes. Shakespeare then goes on to give the imagery of a candle eating itself, "Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel", which can be tied to gluttony in the thirteenth line. In the last two lines of the second quatrain, "Making a famine where abundance lies, Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel", Shakespeare uses the contrasting images of "famine" and "abundance" and then "sweet self" and "cruel" to describe the selfishness of the young man.
At the back center is a dish of wheat, and at the sides are a vessel of olive oil and a cruet of wine. > O Lord Jesus Christ our God, Who didst bless the five loaves and didst > therewith feed the five thousand: Do Thou, the same Lord, bless these > loaves, wheat, wine and oil; and multiply them in this holy habitation, and > in all the world; and sanctify all the faithful who shall partake of them. > For it is Thou, O Christ our God, Who dost bless and sanctify all things; > and unto Thee we ascribe glory: with the Father Who hath no beginning, and > Thine all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto the > ages of ages. During the words "loaves, wheat, wine and oil" above, he points with the loaf he holds in his right hand to each item as he names it, making thereby the sign of the cross.
Early English translations of the Bible used the familiar singular form of the second person, which mirrors common usage trends in other languages. The familiar and singular form is used when speaking to God in French (in Protestantism both in past and present, in Catholicism since the post-Vatican II reforms), German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Scottish Gaelic and many others (all of which maintain the use of an "informal" singular form of the second person in modern speech). In addition, the translators of the King James Version of the Bible attempted to maintain the distinction found in Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic and Koine Greek between singular and plural second-person pronouns and verb forms, so they used thou, thee, thy, and thine for singular, and ye, you, your, and yours for plural. In standard modern English, thou continues to be used in formal religious contexts, in literature that seeks to reproduce archaic language, and in certain fixed phrases such as "fare thee well".
Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant that they may quickly return to Thy Father's house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that there may be but one flock and one Shepherd. Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of the race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.
The Archbishop of Canterbury lifts St Edward's Crown from the high altar, sets it back down, and says a prayer: "Oh God, the crown of the faithful; bless we beseech thee and sanctify this thy servant our king/queen, and as thou dost this day set a crown of pure gold upon his/her head, so enrich his/her royal heart with thine abundant grace, and crown him/her with all princely virtues through the King Eternal Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen". This prayer is the translation of the ancient formula Deus tuorum Corona fidelium. The Dean of Westminster picks up the crown and he, the archbishop and several other high-ranking bishops proceed to the Coronation Chair where the crown is handed back to the archbishop, who reverently places it on the monarch's head. At this moment, the king or queen is crowned, and the guests in the abbey cry in unison three times, "God Save the King/Queen".
From Crowley's book Magick Without Tears: and from The Vision and the Voice (12th Aethyr): She is considered to be a sacred whore because she denies no one, and yet she extracts a great price — the very blood of the adept and their ego-identity as an earthly individual. This aspect of Babalon is described further from the 12th Aethyr: The concept contained within this aspect of Babalon is that of the mystical ideal, the quest to become One with All through the annihilation of the earthly ego ("For as thy blood is mingled in the cup of BABALON, so is thine heart the universal heart."). The blood spilling into the graal of Babalon is then used by her to "flood the world with Life and Beauty" (meaning to create Masters of the Temple that are "released" back into the world of men), symbolized by the Crimson Rose of 49 Petals. The Vision & the Voice, 1998, p.
The steel frame was made in 1984. To the left of the altar is an alabaster and black marble monument to Sir William Dyer erected in 1641 by his wife, Catherine, Lady Dyer (d. 1654).Susan Dunn Hensley, 'Katherine D'Oyley Dyer', in Carole Levin, Anna Riehl Bertolet, Jo Eldridge Carney, A Biographical Encyclopedia of Early Modern Englishwomen (Abingdon, 2017) p. 571. It has the following verse inscription: :If a large hart, joined with a noble minde :Shewing true worth unto all good inclin’d :If faith in friendship, justice unto all, :Leave such a memory as we may call :Happy, thine is; then pious marble keepe :His just fame waking, though his lov’d dust sleepe. :And though death can devoure all that hath breath, :And monuments them selves have had a death, :Nature shan’t suffer this, to ruinate, :Nor time demolish’t, nor an envious fate, :Rais’d by a just hand, not vain glorious pride, :Who’d be concealed, wer’t modesty to hide :Such an affection did so long survive :The object of ’t; yet lov’d it as alive.
Up, through sorrow and toil Thou hast struggled, my beautiful mother, Life wars, lures of the dust, pangs of becoming, flashes Of world-hate conquered and broken, twice purged by refining fires Phoenix-like, dowered with truth, Thou hast risen in strength from the ashes. Loyal are they and true, the sons of thy blest begetting, Proud with a son's just pride, loving, swift to defend, Doing God's work and thine in the fields of the world forever Till the hand of the sower be stayed and the song of the reaper shall end. White on thy mountain top thou shinest, my beautiful mother, Tented by sapphire skies and cloudbergs fashioned in gold, Gazing with thoughtful eyes o'er the vale to the world's last border Where the battle of Being is red and the new life wars with the old. Potent and wise are they who trim thy torch for the burning, Consecrate priests of the truth, masters of lore and deed, Pouring the miracle cruse that richer grows with the pouring, Making the base things high, sowing the perfect seed.
I beg of thee to have regard to my character and give not that advantage against me, either with God or good or bad men, whose ill use of it I most fear on a public account. I have just now received thine of 5th, 5th month and am very sorry that wicked man, D. L. could blow up any of his mermidons to such a pitch as thy account of William Biles relates that is a meer vox et praetara nihil, a cox comb and a pragmatic ingraine. That fellow's plantation is a robbery on Pennsbury and if there be a grant, was not a purchase from me nor toward land write for me was surveyed long before and done in my absence, formerly and Judge Monpresson can tell if I may not be deceived in my grant as well as the Crown, be it King or Queen Since if confirmed it was on. Surprize and rattle an Inquisition about his [William Biles'] ears if not a prosecution.
Mediaeval lavabo in the right-hand transept of Saint Mark's Church in Milan. The name ' ("I shall wash" in Latin) is derived from the words of Psalm (KJV; in the Septuagint it is Psalm 25), which the celebrant traditionally recites while he/she/they washes his/her/their hands: "I will wash my hands in innocence, so will I compass thine altar, O Lord". The washing of hands during the recitation of these psalm verses is of very ancient usage in the Catholic Church: > In the third century there are traces of a custom of washing the hands as a > preparation for prayer on the part of all Christians; and from the fourth > century onwards it appears to have been usual for the ministers at the > Communion Service ceremonially to wash their hands before the more solemn > part of the service as a symbol of inward purity.Report of the Royal > Commission on Ecclesiastical Discipline (Church of England) 1906 In most liturgical traditions, the priest washes his/her/their hands after vesting, before the beginning of the liturgy.
The Greek text is that of Johann Jakob Griesbach. The English text uses "Jehovah" for the divine name a number of times where the New Testament writers used "" (Kyrios, the Lord) when quoting Hebrew scriptures. For example, at Luke 20:42-43 it reads: "For David himself says in the book of Psalms, Jehovah said to my Lord, sit thou at my Right hand, 'till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet", where Jesus quoted Psalm 110:1. The text of the original edition's title page is as follows: :The Emphatic Diaglott, containing the Original Greek Text of what is Commonly Styled the New Testament (According to the Recension of Dr. J. J. Griesbach), with an Interlineary Word for Word English Translation; A New Emphatic Version, based on the Interlineary Translation, on the Renderings of Eminent Critics, and on the various readings of the Vatican Manuscript, No. 1209 in the Vatican Library: Together with Illustrative and Explanatory Footnotes, and a copious selection of references; to the whole of which is added a valuable Alphabetical Appendix.
