When the city of Watenstedt-Salzgitter was created in 1942, the entire area was attached to the state of Brunswick both politically and ecclesiastically. Thus, all parishes of Salzgitter now belong to the Church of Brunswick.

Philip Burnard Ayres (1813–1863) was a British physician, botanist and plant collector. He was born at Thame in Oxfordshire on 12 December 1813. He initially began to collect plants in his native United Kingdom and also in France. In 1856 Ayres was appointed by Queen Victoria to superintendency of quarantine on Flat Island, Mauritius under governor Robert Townsend Farquhar.

He was unable to accomplish this task, however, as his plans to include an anglophone in cabinet broke down on the issue of educational funding for the province's Protestant minority. Cauchon opposed the creation of a Protestant Superintendency for the province, while all of his potential anglophone ministers supported it. Accordingly, Cauchon stood aside, and Pierre Chauveau became the province's first Premier instead.

When he moved to Michigan as a missionary, he became involved in Michigan politics and ultimately designed the state's public school system as part of their organization for statehood. After his superintendency, he was elected to the state legislature and served on Michigan's 1850 constitutional convention before retiring to his farm outside Ypsilanti for the last thirty years of his life.

He tendered his resignation, but it was refused and he was offered the opportunity to assume the Superintendency of All People's Mission in Winnipeg's North End. For six years he worked with the poor and immigrant families, and during this time, he wrote and campaigned for compulsory education, juvenile courts, the construction of playgrounds, and other initiatives in support of social welfare.

Bankers felt the shortage and started to loan money to themselves to maintain their recently acquired properties. The cash flow started to decrease abruptly. The superintendency of banking, controlled by bankers, authorized the issuance of currency without support; this fired up a rapid currency devaluation. Bucaram had no alternative but to take economic measures which affected people on lower incomes.

Many of Monro's supporters stayed away, as Robinson was never expected to be able to win. Robinson and Monro received 425 and 409 votes, respectively. Saxton had been representing Waimea South on the Provincial Council since 1853.

Thomas King resigned in 1855, but the seat was not filled before the next general election through a by-election. Brown resigned on 16 August 1856 to (unsuccessfully) contest the Taranaki superintendency. He was again elected in 1858 and resigned in 1860, when his militia service required his full attention. In between Brown's terms, Lewthwaite represented the electorate, who resigned in 1858.

The board awarded Maeser a Doctor of Letters and Didactics degree that same year. Maeser also continued writing in the Juvenile Instructor in the 1890s to clarify church educational policies. During this same time Maeser served in the General Superintendency of the Deseret Sunday School Union. He was the Second Assistant to General Superintendent George Q. Cannon from July 1894 to January 1899.

German Church, Gothenburg The church was part of the established Church of Sweden and was initially named "Gustavi church" after Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. It was also known as the Swedish Church (), to distinguish it from Gothenburg's German Church (). With the change from superintendency to bishopric and the establishment of a cathedral chapter in 1665,Lilla Uppslagsboken Vol. 4, 1974. p. 513.

By the end of the war hundred thousands of parishioners and hundreds of pastors were fleeing westwards. The Ecclesiastical Province of Pomerania tried to relocate its Stettin-based institutions, the consistory, general superintendency, and pertaining offices, to Greifswald. Between April and July 1945 the Soviets handed over all of Pomerania on both banks along the Oder and east thereof to Poland.

In 1901, Tanner succeeded Karl G. Maeser and became the second Commissioner of Church Education for the LDS Church. At the same time, he became the second assistant to Lorenzo Snow in the general superintendency of the church's Deseret Sunday School Union. When Snow died and was succeeded by Joseph F. Smith, Tanner became Smith's second assistant in the church's Sunday School.

Brandon was elected to the Wellington Provincial Council in its first election in 1853. He represented the Wellington Country electorate until 1865, and then the Porirua electorate until the abolition of the provincial governments in October 1876. He served on various Executive Councils (comparable to a cabinet) between 1857 and 1871. He was Provincial Solicitor during the superintendency of Isaac Featherston.

The Indian Superintendency gave a report to Congress in November 1848. It was an overview on native population figures in the recently gained Pacific Coast and Southwest. Congress was advised to fund and hire new Indian agents in these new territories. A report presented to Congress in 1850 by William Carey Jones surmised information he gathered on land title in California.

In 1875, he became editor of Le Courrier de Saint-Hyacinthe and became owner in 1877. In 1877, he was named to the Legislative Council of Quebec for the Rougemont division. A Quebec Conservative, he was Speaker of the Council from 1882 to 1889 and again from 1892 to 1895. He resigned in 1895 and was appointed superintendency of public instruction.

Before Thorn left the superintendency, the United States Congress passed a bill requiring that henceforth the president would select the superintendent of the Coast and Geodetic Survey with the consent of the U.S. Senate. This practice has continued for senior positions in the Coast and Geodetic Survey and its successor organizations ever since.Sailing Close to the Wind, pp. 41–42.

He contributed to the journals Eco della borsa and Il Pungolo (The Sting), then worked as press secretary for the superintendency of Cremona. He also wrote using the pen name of "Sordello". When Mantua became part of Italy in 1866, he returned and founded the political journal La Favilla (The Spark), which was published from 20 November 1866 to 17 August 1879.

This was intended to allow parents to transfer their children to a school with passing scores. Since the 2005-2006 Report Card, Warren has had the status of "Supplemental Educational Services" under the federal law. This requires Warren to offer free outside tutoring to economically disadvantaged students. The first NCLB report card was published in the fall of 2003, the first year of Dr. Sobocinski's superintendency.

Milton Henry Hardy (September 26, 1844 – August 23, 1905) was an American educator and was the founder of and a member of the inaugural general superintendency of the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association (YMMIA) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). From 1876 to 1880, Hardy was the first assistant to Junius F. Wells, the first president of the YMMIA.

The University Pereira Technology has received the High Quality Accreditation by Resolution No. 2550 dated June 30, 2005. Bureau Veritas Certification has awarded certificates in management (ISO 9001: 2000) and governance in administrative processes that support the teaching, research and extension (NTC GP 1000: 2000). The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce gave the university an accreditation as a certification body to allow them to issue patent stamps.

He arrived in Nelson on the ship Fifeshire, where he farmed on fifty acres of land he had purchased at Wakapuaka, and called his property 'Thackwood'. He was followed to New Zealand by his younger brother Edward. In August 1853, Francis Jollie was one of the three candidates in the inaugural election for the superintendency of Nelson Province. Jollie came last, and Edward Stafford was successful.

During the time of Edward Hyatt (1903), a new county courthouse on Main Street was built. At that time, the superintendency remained an elected position, but the office was part of county government until it gained fiscal independence in 1975. The Riverside County Office of Education has grown to nearly 2,000 employees working at offices in Riverside, Murrieta and Indio, with a budget of $257 million.

In October 1863, Patrick Henry housed the floating Confederate States Naval Academy at Drewry's Bluff, where instruction for 52 midshipmen began under the superintendency of Lieutenant William Harwar Parker. Numbers later increased to sixty, with thirteen teachers in attendance. Sometimes she took part in action with the midshipmen on board. When Richmond was evacuated on 3 April 1865, Patrick Henry was burned to prevent capture.

He served two separate terms in the 2nd New Zealand Parliament as representative for the Grey and Bell electorate. He was elected at the general election on 8 November 1855 and resigned on 16 August 1856 to (unsuccessfully) contest the superintendency. He contested a 17 May 1858 by- election against Dillon Bell in the Grey and Bell electorate. Brown and Bell received 75 and 61 votes, respectively.

After World War II, the Brazilian Amazon became part of the national development process. The creation of the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) in 1952, the establishment of regional development agencies such as the Superintendency of Development for the Amazon (SUDAM) in 1966 and the Free Economic Zone of Manaus in 1967 began to contribute to the settlement of region and in the execution of projects focused on the region.

In 2017, Nelson left LISD to accept the superintendency at the Waco Independent School District in Waco, Texas. In 2014, twelve LISD schools fell short of minimum state standards and were placed on the Public Education Grant list.

Kankrej chiefs agreed with British in 1819-20 to become protectorate and came under Mahi Kantha Agency. It continued part of the Mahi Kantha till, in 1844, on account of its nearness to Palanpur, it was transferred to the Palanpur Superintendency. Kankrej was under Palanpur Agency of Bombay Presidency, which in 1925 became the Banas Kantha Agency. After Independence of India in 1947, Bombay Presidency was reorganized in Bombay State.

From 1816 to 1821 he was presiding elder of the Steubenville, Ohio, and Lebanon districts. In 1821 he was sent as missionary to the Wyandot people, where he remained six years. Retaining the superintendency of this mission for two years, he subsequently continued in the itinerant ministry as pastor and presiding elder till 1845, when he was appointed chaplain of the Ohio Penitentiary. He retained this office till 1849.

At the nomination meeting, the election was contested by Robinson and W. R. Nicholson. A show of hands indicated a majority for Robinson, who was thus declared duly elected. Edward Stafford, the first Superintendent of Nelson, resigned from the position in September 1856. Robinson and David Monro contested the superintendency on class issues. Monro had represented Waimea in the 1st Parliament and thus had a high political profile.

The Superintendency had often been a stepping stone to higher prominence in the Army. Four Superintendents became Chief of Staff of the Army: Hugh Lenox Scott, Douglas MacArthur, Maxwell Davenport Taylor, and William Westmoreland. The list of Superintendents includes five Medal of Honor recipients: Oliver Otis Howard, Douglas MacArthur, Albert Leopold Mills, John McAllister Schofield, John Moulder Wilson. Many Superintendents later became Commanding Generals, such as Joseph Gardner Swift.

The Hudson's Bay Company had lost a full year in the northern fur trade, and pressed for further steps to be taken to prevent another smallpox outbreak. Dr. D.W.J. Hagarty was appointed as medical superintendent of the Manitoba and North-West Superintendencies in October 1878. His mission was to vaccinate all Native persons resident in the Manitoba Superintendency. Every spring vaccinations were administered to thoe people who were not away hunting.

Cargill Sr. rarely spoke in the house and found travel to parliament in Auckland difficult. Regarded as the father of Otago, he had also been the first Superintendent of Otago Province. In July 1859, he announced "that it has been his feeling for some time past, under a sense of advancing years, to retire from the Superintendency". He did retire at the next provincial election in November 1859.

However, he was ignored by Carlton with disastrous results for the Navajo. In 1863, Steck's one-year-old son born in July 1862, died August 1862, in Santa Fe and was soon followed by his wife October 3, 1864. He subsequently married Elizabeth Wood and they had 3 children. Following his resignation from the Superintendency in 1865, he became involved with the New Mexico Mining Company from 1865 to 1880.

This branch of the business was under the management of R. Stockwell, Jr., who had been superintendent of the yards since 1877. The house, with office at No. 68 West Water street, under a separate management, nearly controlled the salt trade of the city, and had a large shipping trade with the interior. This department conducting salt trade was under the superintendency of P.H. Kershaw, the junior partner of the house.

In 1860 he was elected superintendent (an ecclesiastical position equivalent in the Lutheran church to that of bishop), serving the Bratislava superintendency. Kuzmány was a co-founder and vice-president of the Slovak League (). The group, which promoted Slovak culture and learning during the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, first met in 1863. As vice-president, Kuzmány was responsible for directing the group's activities, a responsibility he maintained through 1870.

In November 1858, Anderson accepted the office of Superintendent for the Middle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. In February 1859, he was advanced to the General Superintendency of the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railway. In less than a year, however, Anderson was called to be Superintendent of Transportation on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, a position in which the opening of the American Civil War found him.

Gary E. Everhardt (born 1934) was the ninth Director of the US National Park Service (NPS). He began his NPS career as an engineer in 1957 and rose to the superintendency of Grand Teton National Park in 1972. Favorable notice there propelled him to the directorship in January 1975. As director he oversaw a great increase in park development and interpretive programming for the Bicentennial of the American Revolution.

When the Jamaican Assembly dismissed John James and his son from the superintendency of Trelawny Town, and appointed the inexperienced Thomas Craskell as superintendent, then Montague James took control of Trelawny Town, and dismissed Craskell from his post.Siva, After the Treaties, pp. 129–32. It is possible that Maroon colonel Montague James took his name from that of the son of John James, the white superintendent John Montague James.

Reid represented Taieri on the Otago Provincial Council from 1863 to 1876. In the 1871 election, he unsuccessfully contested the superintendency against James Macandrew. He represented the Taieri electorate from to 1869 when he resigned, and from to 1878, when he again resigned. Never an enthusiastic politician, he was not at ease with the compromises required for political leadership, Reid then left public life — aside from a period on the Otago Harbour Board.

The Instructor began publication in 1930, when the Sunday School ceased publication of The Juvenile Instructor, its official publication since 1901. Like its predecessor, The Instructor was targeted primarily at the LDS Church's youth and young adult membership. The first editor of the periodical was George D. Pyper, a member of the general superintendency of the Deseret Sunday School Union. With the implementation of the Priesthood Correlation Program, The Instructor ceased publication in 1970.

In 1948 the new constitution of the March of Brandenburg ecclesiastical province, now named Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg renamed the general superintendency of Kurmark into Sprengel Neuruppin (1949) with a smaller territory. Also after the merger of the Silesian and Berlin- Brandenburg evangelical church bodies into today's Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia in 2004 the Sprengel Neuruppin continued to exist. Despite the name, the general superintendent is seated in Potsdam.

Randy Collins became superintendent of West Sioux in 2012, and concurrently served in the same role at Akron–Westfield Community School District. Though Collins remained with Akron–Westfield, he left West Sioux in 2016. Ryan Kramer was named superintendent for the 2016–17 school year, and served as superintendent until 2019. Steve Grond, who was superintendent of Boyden-Hull School District, assumed a dual superintendency at Boyden–Hull and West Sioux in 2020.

The princely state was founded in the fifteenth century. From 1803 - 1815 it was occupied by mighty neighboring Gurkha kingdom Nepal. On 20 December 1815 it entered the British raj by accepting a protectorate, restoring its autonomy, now within British India, colonially controlled under the Simla Hill States Superintendency of the Punjab States Agency. Although its revenue was only 700 rupees, a private purse of 3000 rupees was awarded to the ruling Ranas.

Registration is useful when title is insufficient to support a conclusion of ownership under the traditional recording system, or is clearly defective, and the putative owner desires to make the title good and marketable.History of the Land Court The court employs a staff of engineers and surveyors to help accomplish the task of determining land title and boundaries. The Land Court also has superintendency authority over the registered land office in each registry of deeds.

Sedalib began operations on February 1, 1977. On May 6, 1993 was registered in the National Superintendency of Tax Administration (SUNAT) of Peru as "Public Law Enterprise" in the category of taxpayer and It was typed with the name of Sedalib SA, the company was assigned the taxpayer code N° 20131911310. The company had been administrated by a directory not renewed since 2002; In 2012 was elected a new directory for Sedalib.

On leaving the superintendency, Patrick for two years directed truck driving instruction at Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale, Arkansas. The institute provides trained drivers for such firms as the Arkansas-based J. B. Hunt Company. From 1989 until his retirement from public education in 1996, Patrick was superintendent for the Winslow School District in Washington County. The Winslow district was consolidated with Greenland schools in 2004 and renamed the "Greenland School District".

Featherston served in the first, second, third, and fourth Parliaments. He represented the Wanganui and Rangitikei electorate in the first parliament until he resigned on 9 August 1855, and then represented the City of Wellington electorate in the second, third and fourth parliaments. In 1858, he resigned his seat in Parliament and his Wellington superintendency, apparently wanting to return to England. Instead, he successfully stood for re-election in both positions within months.

Edward McGlashan stood for election in the first Otago Provincial Council, and represented the Dunedin Country electorate from 28 September 1853 to 15 September 1855. He was unsuccessful at some later provincial elections. In 1865, he contested the superintendency, but was beaten by Thomas Dick. He would later represent the North Harbour electorate in the 6th and 7th council, from 17 March 1871 until the abolition of the provincial governments on 31 October 1876.

As part of the Westphalian Provincial Church (now the Church of Westphalia), Siegen became the seat of a Superintendency. A similar entity still exists in Siegen, known as the Kirchenkreis, or church district, to which all the city's parishes nowadays belong, unless they are Free Church parishes. This church district encompasses the whole of South Westphalia all the way to Olpe. The town's Catholics, even after the Reformation, still belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz.

The first three regular agents were appointed to the Oregon Superintendency in 1850. They were assigned to geographical areas rather than to particular tribes. The agencies in Oregon Territory were Rogue River, Warm Springs, Puget Sound District, Southeastern District, Port Orford, Siletz, Grand Ronde, Umatilla, Klamath and Malheur. The agency structure in Oregon was complicated because of the removal of Indians from their original homes and the attempt to concentrate them on reservations.

The Caminhos Ecológicos da Boa Esperança Environmental Protection Area was created by state governor decree 8.552 of 5 June 2003. It was to be administered by the Superintendency for Forest Development and Conservation Units (SFC). The purpose was to maintain the environmental quality of the territory it covered and to act as a buffer zone for the Wenceslau Guimarães Ecological Station. It became part of the Central Atlantic Forest Ecological Corridor, created in 2002.

Its construction was funded by the Region of Calabria, designed by technicians of the Superintendency of Public Works of Catanzaro and built by local craftsmen. In the House of Culture are located: the gallery " Leonida and Albertina Repaci", the ethnographic museum "Raffaele Corso", the library "Domenico Topa", the antiquarium "Nicola De Rosa", the museum music "Francesco Cilea and Nicola Antonio Manfroce", the plaster casts "Michele Guerrisi", the State Archives of Reggio Calabria - Section of Palmi.

Apart from what is stated above, little is known of his early life before his first employment. He appears to have been self-taught in botany, after taking up the superintendency. In 1775 L'Héritier was appointed a magistrate in the Cour des Aides in Paris. This was a court which dealt with tax offences, but under its president Malesherbes it became perhaps the only French government institution to protect ordinary citizens against a corrupt state.

The Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (), or Sudene () for short, is a Brazilian governmental agency created in 1959, during the government of President Juscelino Kubitschek (1956-1961), to stimulate economic growth in the northeastern region of Brazil, one of the poorest of the country, that faces chronic droughts and has a semi-arid climate. Sudene was created by suggestion of economist Celso Furtado, one of the leading intellectuals of Brazil, who was the agency's first director.

Stevens stood for and was elected to the Canterbury Provincial Council in 1863. He served in Tancred's provincial executive until 1866 during Samuel Bealey's superintendency. He left provincial politics on the election of William Sefton Moorhouse as superintendent in that year. Instead, he stood in the newly created Selwyn electorate for a seat in the House of Representatives in early 1866. As there were no other candidates, he was returned uncontested to the 4th New Zealand Parliament.

Daniel Isom Vanderpool (1891-1988) was a minister and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene. Born September 6, 1891, in Missouri, Dr. Daniel Isom Vaderpool was converted in a Free Methodist Church and began preaching in country schoolhouses within three months. Joining the Church of the Nazarene in 1913, Dr. Vanderpool was educated at John Fletcher and Pasadena (Nazarene) colleges. Nineteen years as district superintendent preceded his election to the general superintendency in 1949.

Cubberley served as superintendent in San Diego and later taught at Stanford University, Strayer taught at Teachers College, Columbia University, and Elliott taught at the University of Wisconsin. In 1911, the idea of the superintendent as a separate professional emerged. The emergence of the superintendency was linked to the adoption of a business organizational model in education. Beginning in 1914, Columbia and other universities began to teach courses on educational administration, including school finance, business methods, budgeting, and organization.

Charles Fooks (a brother-in-law of Guise and Joseph Brittan) and Edward Dobson were defeated (at 51 and 21 votes, respectively). Bealey remained a provincial councillor until the dissolution of the first parliament on 14 July 1857. From October 1854 to May 1855, he was a member of the executive council during the superintendency of James FitzGerald. Bealey was again elected onto the Provincial Council on 8 May 1862, this time in the City of Christchurch electorate.

38, 1880, pp. 1-10 In excavations by the Superintendency of Antiquities in 1953, Rosario Carta produced precise illustrations of the sculptures and Prof. Luigi Bernabò Brea took photographs which were published in a volume which allowed the sanctuary to be seen in the wider context of the diffusion of the cult of Cybele through the Greco-Roman world. The recognition of the unified structure of the site, however, was only established by the detailed study of Prof.

This was New Zealand's first public railway. A telegraph line was built along the rail corridor between Lyttelton and Christchurch, and when it opened on 1 July 1862, it was the first telegraph line in New Zealand. New Zealand Post celebrated the centenary with the publication of two commemorative stamps. His father's most important project was the superintendency of the Lyttelton Rail Tunnel, an engineering feat that is recognised with a Category I heritage protection by Heritage New Zealand.

SUDAM was established in 1966 during the government of Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco. Its purpose was to promote the development of the Amazon region, creating special financial and tax incentives to attract private investors, national and international. SUDAM replaced another municipality called the Superintendency of Economic Recovery Plan of the Amazon (Superintendência do Plano de Valorização Econômica da Amazônia, the SPVEA), created by Getúlio Vargas in 1953. The SPVEA also had the objective of developing the Amazon region.

Giovanni Becatti (1912–1973) was an Italian Classical art historian and archaeologist. Born at Siena, Becatti was educated at the University of Rome under Giulio Giglioli. Becatti was appointed to the Superintendency of Ostia in 1938. He was professor of Archeology and History of Classical Art at the University of Pisa (1941–1944) and at the University La Sapienza of Rome (1945–1946). From 1947 to 1950, he was Director of the excavations of Ostia Antica.

Howard V. Miller (1894–1948) was a minister and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene. Howard V. Miller was born in Brooktondale, New York, and joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1922. He served as pastor, district superintendent, and college professor until his election to the general superintendency in 1940. Miller was married to Rhea Miller, who wrote the words of the popular hymn "I'd Rather Have Jesus", which was subsequently set to music by George Beverly Shea.

In the 1990s, Jader was involved in several corruption scandals and risked impeachment. Facing the threat of impeachment in connection with fraud and corruption scandals, he resigned from the Senate in October 2001. Barbalho was implicated in a funding scandal at the regional development agency the Superintendency for Development of the Amazon (SUDAM) where over 2 billion dollars went missing. He is alleged to have used his power base in the Amazonian state of Para to influence which projects were approved by SUDAM.

Bennion was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and from 1943 to 1949 he was the sixth general superintendent of the church's Deseret Sunday School Union. His assistants were George R. Hill and A. Hamer Reiser. Bennion succeeded George D. Pyper in this position; Bennion had been Pyper's first assistant in the general Sunday School superintendency since 1934. Bennion was a member of the Sunday School general board for 40 years, beginning in 1909.

James Russell Soley The work of preparing for publication of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Navies in the War of the Rebellion, which was begun 7 July 1884, was organized under the superintendency of Professor James Russell Soley, United States Navy, at that time librarian of the Navy Department, afterwards Assistant Secretary of the Navy. Compilation of the OR was begun in the Library soon after its organization, and was definitely appropriated for by act of July 7, 1884.

Polícia Rodoviária Federal in the new livery The Federal Highway Police was created in 1928 during the administration of President Washington Luís, under the name Roadway Police (Polícia das Estradas). It is present in all units of the federation and is managed by the Federal Highway Police Department (PRF), headquartered in Brasília. The states are divided into administrative units known as regions. A region can be a "superintendency", in the case of larger states, or a "district" in smaller states.

After the war, in parallel to the abandonment of the population that moved to the coast, the castle was left in an advanced state of decay. After a few urban interventions inappropriate in recent decades has taken place for rehabilitation and restoration of the fortress under the auspices of the Superintendency and the Fine Arts, the building making a positive recovery. He recently completed a two-year excavation campaign (1999/2000), which has unearthed artifacts, ancient foundations and the moat.

Minot went from the Erie to the Michigan Southern Railroad, as general manager, a place he held until December 1859. Then he was recalled to the general superintendency of the Erie. He remained at the head of the operative department until December 31, 1864, when he was succeeded by Hugh Riddle. For a time Mr. Minot held an office with the Company known as consulting engineer, but he retired from that and returned to his native place, where he died.

The Jhansi State and the Jalaun and Chanderi districts were then formed into a superintendency. In 1854 Bundelkhand Agency was placed under the authority of the newly created Central India Agency, headquartered at Indore. The widow of the Raja of Jhansi, Rani Lakshmi Bai, protested against the annexation because her adopted son was not recognised as the heir to his adoptive father, and because the slaughter of cattle was permitted in the Jhansi territory. The Revolt of 1857 found Jhansi ripe for rebellion.

Of the four superintendents of Indian affairs, the others were the governors of Michigan, Florida and Arkansas territories; Clark had by far the largest superintendency. Though Clark tried to maintain peaceful relations with indigenous nations and negotiated peace treaties, he was involved in President Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy. This included "his duty to oversee removal". He managed retaliation against Black Hawk and those allied with him in the Black Hawk War, when hostilities arose between them and the Americans.

She began to write for the press at the age of 16, and, besides constant contributions to papers and magazines, she produced two serials for New York papers and 10 books. In 1873, she was elected professor of English language and literature in the Illinois Wesleyan University. After that, she was connected as trustee or teacher with several literary institutions. In 1874, she was nominated, with a fair prospect of election, to the superintendency of public instruction in the State of Illinois.

"Gracie, Archibald" reports that his mother was "a Miss Bethune, of Charleston, S.C."; "Bethune" was also a prominent family in New York. After his elementary education, Gracie traveled to Germany for five years of further studying at the University of Heidelberg.Gerard A. After arriving back in the United States Archibald started his education at West Point, at the time of Robert E. Lee's superintendency.

She led in the movement to organize a Christian association, formed of the women of all denominations, for the assistance of the helpless women of Mormon faith. In 1886 she was made trustee of an orphan's home on a farm in the West. Finally, she persuaded the national executive committee of the Women's Home Missionary Society to adopt the movement, and in 1891 she and her husband were appointed to the superintendency of that work, the Mothers' Jewels' Home, near York, Nebraska.

Thompson participated in the Territorial Republican Constitutional Convention from July 13, 1857 to August 29, 1857. He also served as Superintendent of Indian Affairs for the U.S. Executive Branch (Lincoln and Johnson Administrations) in the Northern Superintendency from 1861–1865. In this capacity, he was supervisor of Ojibwe, Dakota, and Winnebago agencies in Minnesota as well as the LaPointe Ojibwe agency in Wisconsin. The U.S.-Dakota War and the subsequent removals of Minnesota's Dakota and Winnebago occurred during his term of office.

The creation science dispute and the Thompson-Smith-Ackal scandal may have worked against Nix politically. He was unseated as superintendent in the primary election held on October 22, 1983, by his previous rival, Thomas Clausen. Since leaving the superintendency in 1984, Nix has been the president of J. Kelly Nix and Associates, a firm involved in commercial real estate in both Louisiana and Mississippi. Year later in 2011, Nix was inducted into the Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame in Winnfield.

Abandoning field research, Tusa dealt with the administration of cultural heritage in the roles of the Sicilian Region, leading the superintendency of Trapani. In 2004 he was appointed as the first Superintendent of the Sea by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Sicilian Region. He organized archaeological missions in Italy, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq. In 2005, he led the excavations at Motya, bringing to light, the submerged road that leads to the island, as well as structures identifiable as quays.

With the Protestant Reformation in the Electorate of Brandenburg, starting officially in 1539, the following year the first general superintendent of Kurmark was appointed. In 1815 the usage of the title was interrupted. Within the March of Brandenburg ecclesiastical province of the Evangelical Church in Prussia, established in 1817, the Kurmark formed again a general superintendency from 1829 to 1948. Two other general superintendencies within the March of Brandenburg ecclesiastical province were that of the New March and Lower Lusatia and that of Berlin.

The church shall be granted a pastor whose > duties and privileges (SIC) shall conform to the manual; and at this time > all missionary control shall be relinquished except such superintendency as > provided for in the manual."The Policy of the General Missionary Board of > the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene to Govern the Work in Japan", 3 March > 1914, quoted in Gailey, 2. Under the policy, foreign districts would be granted the same rights as US districts, with control passing from missionaries to local leaders.Gailey, 2.

Bradford began teaching as a young married woman in Leadville, Colorado. She also taught in Colorado Springs and in Denver before moving into administrative positions, as superintendent in Adams County in 1902, and in Denver in 1908. He claimed significant differences in opinion with his executive, as well as a need to devote more time to his private financial affairs, as reasons for his resignation. During his Superintendency, he championed the first New Zealand Exhibition and was its chairman when it was held in Dunedin in 1865. In 1867, he contested the Dunedin mayoralty. There were four candidates running for the second time that the mayor was elected. Harris, James Turner, Thomas Birch and John Millar received 340, 273, 200 and 101 votes, respectively.

Prior to his call as a general authority, Buehner served in the LDS Church as a bishop and stake president and was a member of the Church Welfare Committee. In 1952, he was called as second counselor to the church's Presiding Bishop Joseph L. Wirthlin. He served in this capacity until 1961, when Wirthlin was succeeded by John H. Vandenburg. Immediately following his release, Buehner was called as second assistant to Joseph T. Bentley in the general superintendency of the church's Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association.

Edward Dobson's most important project was the superintendency of the Lyttelton Rail Tunnel, an engineering feat that is recognised with a Category I heritage protection by Heritage New Zealand. His son Arthur prepared many of the sectional drawings. Shortly afterwards, the Ferrymead branch line was closed, and it became the first public railway to be disused in the country. The chief surveyor, Thomas Cass, commissioned Arthur Dobson in 1864 to find out whether there is a suitable pass from the Waimakariri watershed to the West Coast.

From 1871 to 1873, Hardy was a LDS Church missionary in the United States. Beginning in 1875, church president Brigham Young asked Hardy, John Henry Smith, and B. Morris Young to tour the wards of the church and establish YMMIA programs in each of them. When this was completed, Young asked Junius F. Wells to be the inaugural general superintendent of the organization; Wells selected Hardy and Rodney C. Badger as his assistants. The superintendency served until 1880, when Wells was released and replaced with Wilford Woodruff.

In July 2008, preparatory work for the raw gas pipeline began in Glengad. Under Gilligan's superintendency over forty arrests were made in the summer of 2008. The Irish Navy were brought in to provide assistance in dealing with possible protests on water. Local businessman and fisherman Pat O'Donnell accused the Gardaí of selective policing, alleging that they made no answer to call for assistance in defending his private property, in the form of crab pots that were in the path of the pipe laying vessel, Solitaire.

In the Pindari War between 1818-19 he commanded the Rajputana column and made a separate agreement with Amir Khan. He detached him from the Pindaris, and then, interposing his own force between the two main divisions of the enemy, brought the war to an end without an engagement. He was afterwards made Resident and Political Agent of Malwa, thus having the entire superintendency of the affairs of central India.J. J. The idea for publishing a patients' journal likely originated during the superintendency of Dr Amariah Brigham, a firm believer in the curative value of mental occupation. Prior to the birth of The Opal, Brigham had included several pieces of patient writing in his American Journal of Insanity, which was also produced in the printing office of the institution. Though Brigham died in 1849, the decision of his successor (Dr Nathan Benedict) to launch a patient publication was clearly influenced by Brigham's ideas.Eannace, M. (2001).

Involved in the Forward Movement and in the raising of funds for the Central Hall, Westminster, the mission's base was finally to be Kingsway Hall in Holborn. Here the West London Mission entered a second defining phase of its life with the Superintendency of Donald Soper (later Lord Soper), under whose control it suffered catastrophic decline. Upon Lord Soper’s retirement the Mission moved its base to its current home at Hinde Street Methodist Church in Marylebone, from where it runs a number of specialist social care ministries.

Dick was active in politics in the Otago District of New Zealand. He was elected to the Otago Provincial Council on 12 February 1859. He was Provincial Secretary for several years and was Superintendent from 1865–1867. The 1865 election for the Superintendency was caused by the resignation on 23 June 1865 of John Hyde Harris, who claimed significant differences in opinion with his executive, as well as a need to devote more time to his private financial affairs, as reasons for his resignation.

The momentum and progress of his reforms continued more easily through the superintendency of his successor, William Westmoreland and into the 1970s. In 1957, while at West Point, he was promoted and confirmed to the rank of lieutenant general. After West Point, Davidson returned to Seventh United States Army as its commanding general, posted in West Germany as a forward deployed force during the Cold War. During the Berlin Wall crisis in the summer of 1961, Davidson would have commanded any American military response or intervention.

In August 2011, a Brazilian television show accused the company of using sweatshops for their outsourced production. The Regional Superintendency of Labour and Employment of São Paulo, Brazil, closed a factory that produced Zara's clothing for its poor labour conditions. Zara's representatives said the accusations of slave labour made against the retailer represent a breach of the code of conduct for workshops of Inditex. The company also states factories responsible for unauthorized outsourcing have been asked to regularize immediately the situation of the workers involved.

In 1880, young women's work was made a department of the National WCTU, and Barnes was appointed General Secretary. In 1890, she was appointed fraternal delegate to the annual meeting of the British Women's Temperance Association (BWTA), held in London, 21 and 22 May, at which time she so acceptably-presented the subject that the department of young women's work was immediately organized, and Lady Henry Somerset accepted the superintendency. As an outgrowth of that interest, sixteen branches were organised in Great Britain the first year.

Francis Henney Smith (October 18, 1812 - March 21, 1890) was an American military officer, mathematician and educator. After graduating from West Point and a brief service in the United States Army, he became the first Superintendent of the Virginia Military Institute on its establishment in 1839, and held that post until shortly before his death. His superintendency included the four years of the American Civil War, during which he served as a major general in the Virginia militia and a colonel in the Confederate States Army.

In theology he upheld the Arminian doctrines of unlimited atonement, free will, and conditional election against the Calvinist doctrines of unconditional election and limited atonement. His Arminian theology is most clearly outlined in his famous Checks to Antinomianism. He attempted to confront his (and John Wesley's) theological adversaries with courtesy and fairness, although some of his contemporaries judged him harshly for his writings. His resignation on doctrinal grounds of the superintendency (1768–1771) of the Countess of Huntingdon's college at Trevecca left no unpleasantness.

66 According to Adam Elmslie, a young Superintendency clerk who was present, Elliot sent a message at 2 pm, warning the Chinese that if they did not receive provisions in half an hour, they would sink the junks. When the ultimatum expired with no results, Smith ordered his pinnace to fire, after which Elmslie observed: The cutter Louisa (centre) in 1834 At 3:45 pm, the shore batteries opened fire in support of the junks. By 4:30 pm, the Louisa had fired 104 rounds.

Clausen worked to enhance the process of school accreditation. He also provided the transition to an appointed superintendency beginning in 1988 under the administration of Edward's second successor, Governor Buddy Roemer. Clausen was a member of the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry during the administration of Republican Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster, Jr., like Clausen a native of St. Mary Parish. For the last two years of his life, Clausen was a special education teacher at Valley Park Alternative School in Baton Rouge.

In January 2010, Bachelet enacted a law creating the Ministry for the Environment. The new legislation also created the Environmental Evaluation Service and the Superintendency for the Environment. Half of the ministries in her first government were occupied by women; in her successor's team, Sebastián Piñera, 18% were.

The Pico do Jabre State Park was created through decree 14.843 of 19 October 1992 with an area of about with great natural diversity of flora, fauna and rocky outcrops. Objectives were to reconcile protection of fauna, flora and landscape with scientific research and recreation. It is administered by the Environmental Management Superintendency of Paraíba (Sudema). In April 2016 the public prosecutor's office filed a public civil action against the cellular operators Tim, Oi and Embratel, and against 24 owners of property on the Pico do Jabre.

The construction was carried out by Jakob Vivian, the later Architect to the Imperial Court. In the course of the Josephinist reforms, the monastery was abandoned in 1782. The same year, both a Lutheran and a Reformed congregation were able to constitute themselves in Vienna due to the Patent of Toleration of 1781. The parish based in the Lutheran City Church is the oldest of the Lutheran Superintendency of Vienna’s parishes. The Lutheran and the Reformed congregation both bought a part of the former Queen’s Monastery in 1783.

Hardy C. Powers (1900–1972) was an American minister and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene. A native of Texas, Dr. Hardy C. Powers was converted in the Alhambra, California Church of the Nazarene, and took theological training for the ministry at Pasadena College in Pasadena, California. After 12 years in the pastorate and 8 years as superintendent of the Iowa District, Dr. Powers was elected to the general superintendency in 1944, and served in this capacity until his retirement in 1968. He was general superintendent emeritus until his death in 1972.

86 an "active influence" in the church, Sunday school, and YMCA, and asserted that "no one living in Bellefonte...could interest and command capital as Mr. Gephart did." After his death, Bellefonte and Nittany Furnaces, though owned by separate groups of investors, came under a single management. The Bellefonte Furnace investors were more closely tied to the Central Railroad, and that furnace operated somewhat more frequently than Nittany, to generate traffic for the railroad. The superintendency of the Central Railroad was assumed by Gephart's son Wallace, who was soon made its president.

David Lawrence McKay (30 September 1901 – 27 October 1993) was the eighth general superintendent of the Sunday School of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1966 to 1971. McKay was a member of the general superintendency of that organization from 1949 to 1971. McKay was born in Ogden, Utah, the oldest son of future LDS Church apostle and church president, David O. McKay. David Lawrence McKay became the second assistant to George R. Hill, the general superintendent of the Deseret Sunday School Union in 1949.

When the Great Depression of the 1930s hit the country, Wentworth, like many institutions across the country, struggled to survive. In 1933, Colonel James M. Sellers assumed the superintendency of the school and was soon joined at the helm by Colonel Lester B. Wikoff, treasurer and business manager. Together, Sellers’ natural leadership and Wikoff's business acumen would lead the school to new heights. Colonel Sellers and Colonel Wikoff guided the school through the lean years of the 1930s and into the prosperity of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

Rodney Carlos Badger (September 8, 1848 – April 12, 1923) was an inaugural member of the general superintendency of the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association (YMMIA) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Badger was born in Salt Lake City a year after his Mormon pioneer parents arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. His father was Rodney Badger, who drowned when young Rodney was five years old. Upon reaching adulthood, Badger was a LDS Church missionary to California and worked as a surveyor and telegraph operator with the Utah Central Railroad.

Because of the lack of housing, in the 1920s they built the cidade flutuante ("floating city"), a type of residence that was consolidated in the 1960s. To try to stem the crisis, the central government of Brazil created the Superintendência de Defesa da Borracha ("Superintendency of Defence of Rubber"). It was inefficient and unable to effect real change, and, for this reason, it was eliminated soon after its creation. In the 1930s, Henry Ford, the United States automobile pioneer, undertook the cultivation of rubber trees in the Amazon region.

The Crown of Castile's main treasury body was the Supreme Finance Council created in 1523 and deeply reformed in 1658. Along with this, existed and accountant body of royal servants that existed from the very beginning of the Kingdom of Castile and the General Superintendency of Finance created in 1687. The Crown of Aragon had as its main finance institutions were the General Manager and the Rational Master of the Court. In both cases and during the 16th and 17th centuries there was one for each of the territories that make up the Aragonese Crown.

In the LDS Church, prior to his call as a general authority, Hill was a bishop three times and a regional representative. From 1967 to 1971, Hill was a member of the general superintendency of the church's Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association, where he served under G. Carlos Smith and W. Jay Eldredge. In 1987, he became a member of the church's First Quorum of the Seventy. In 1989, he was transferred into the newly created Second Quorum of the Seventy, and held this position until he was released in 1992.

Perkins was named to the board of directors of the CB&Q; in 1875. In March 1876 he was named the company's vice president,Klein, 2006, p. 391. but continued to hold the vice presidency and superintendency of the company's business operations west of the Missouri River. At this time, the CB&Q; was part of the "Iowa Pool," a group of three railroads (the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad ("the Rock"); Omaha and Northwestern Railroad (O&N;); and the CB&Q;) with major freight facilities in Omaha, Nebraska.

The latter is the responsibility of the Superintendencia de Servicios Públicos Domiciliarios (SSPD) or Superintendency for Residential Public Services, a multi-sector regulatory agency. The Government aims at improving the performance of the water and sanitation sector through: (1) strengthening the regulatory framework; (2) implementing technical assistance programs; (3) providing financial support to promote modernization and efficient management as well as to subsidize the poor; and (4) rationalizing the institutional framework at the national level to improve coordination in the sector. The government also supports private sector participation in the sector.

In 1949, when George R. Hill succeeded Bennion, Reiser became Hill's first assistant in the general superintendency of the Sunday School organization. During his time in the Sunday School, Reiser wrote a variety of books and lesson manuals, including a 1945 history of the LDS Church for children. Reiser served in the Sunday School until 1952, when he was asked to become the president of the British Mission of the church. During his time in England, Reiser organized the church's purchase of the property for the construction of the London Temple.

The church would have to stand for the defense of the Christian culture of the Occident. In this respect Dibelius regarded himself as consciously anti- Jewish, explaining in a circular to the pastors in his general superintendency district of Kurmark, "that with all degenerating phenomena of modern civilisation Judaism plays a leading role".In the German original:"... daß bei allen zersetzenden Erscheinungen der modernen Zivilisation das Judentum eine führende Rolle spielt". The Superintendency said that many of the groups mentioned were authorized by the Departments of Sucre and Córdoba, but not by the Antioquia government; it also added that Álvaro Uribe, then Antioquia's governor, had eliminated the legal liability of eight CONVIVIR groups in 1997. It was also mentioned that the paramilitary leader known as "Julian Bolívar" had not yet been identified as such and was not associated with any CONVIVIR during the authorization of these groups.Superintendencia de Vigilancia salió en defensa del Presidente frente al debate de Gustavo Petro. Spencer J. Condie. Russell M. Nelson: Apostle, Surgeon, Father After returning to Salt Lake City, he was called as priest quorum advisor in the Garden Park Ward, working with over 50 boys ages 16 to 18. He next served as member of the Bonneville Stake YMMIA superintendency (a position roughly equivalent to a modern counselor in the stake young men's presidency) and then as a counselor in the bishopric of the Garden Park Ward. He was set apart as a counselor in the bishopric by Joseph Fielding Smith, whose son-in-law was the bishop.

A new No. 1 and 3 were built, and the site of No. 2 used for stoves for the new furnaces, which were built in 1880 and put in service in 1881. Joshua Hunt resigned the superintendency on January 1, 1882, six months before the death of his father-in-law, David Thomas. By this time, the iron furnaces also boasted a substantial plant railroad. This began with the construction of a private wagon and rail bridge (which the company opened to the public) across the Lehigh River in 1847 to facilitate ore shipment.

So the plan which she at first thought of only as a relief to her own Children's Home became in the course of time the means of creating homes in the different counties of the state. Washington County was one of the first to act under this law, and a farm of was purchased for this purpose. When all was ready for the children's arrival, she was asked to take the superintendency of the home, in 1870. But she declined the offer as she had married by then.

Losardo worked alongside Alberto Fernández in the insurances superintendency from 1989 to 1996; from then on she worked in his staff during his term in the Buenos Aires City Legislature from 2003 to 2005. In 2005 she was appointed Secretary of Justice, working under the successive administrations of justice ministers Horacio Rosatti, Alberto Iribarne, Aníbal Fernández and Julio Alak. In 2006 she served as the Executive Power's representative to the Council of Magistracy. She left the secretariat in 2009 at the behest of Alak; her successor was Héctor Masquelet.

These are six in number, of the annual value of 80l. each, tenable for two years—one for classical, another for mathematical, and the third for philosophical eminence. The scholarships may be competed for by students of any of the Scottish universities who have taken the degree of M.A., or have qualified for that degree within the two years preceding. The administration of the fund is conducted by the permanent trustees under the superintendency of Mathew Stobie Tait, by whom an annual report is prepared and submitted to the trustees.

He was in the line of promotion to the general superintendency, and as he was very popular with the employees, they were delighted with the prospect of having him as their superintendent. James P. Kirkwood was also mentioned in connection with the place. W. H. Stewart ran what was called the night line, and, in expectation of hearing the news somewhere along the line that Post had been elected superintendent, he had a big transparency, inscribed "S. S. Post, General Superintendent," all ready to light and display on his train.

A large meeting was held on Saturday, 8 July, to discuss who should contest the superintendency election, and who could represent the Bruce electorate in parliament. On the latter question, John Cargill and William John Dyer were discussed as candidates. There was concern about John Cargill's suitability as their representative, and the meeting finished with passing the following resolution unanimously: > That this meeting does not consider Mr. John Cargill a suitable person to > represent Bruce, and request Mr. W. J. Dyer to offer himself as a candidate > for the representation of the County.

What today looks like an austere house was in fact a quadrifrons arch similar in appearance and scale to the so-called Arch of Janus in the Velabrum (actually named the Arch of the Divine Constantine), in Roman times. The arch's current name (House or Arch of Malborghetto) derives from the place where it is located, Malborghetto. It contains a museum and a branch of the Superintendency of Cultural Properties. The arch's vault stood over the crossroads of two important roads, the Via Flaminia and the Via Veientana, interesting remains of which have been brought to light in the area around the monument.

Later the two manors were sold to Alexandre Gaspard di Châtillon and from him to the Baron Marius de Vautheleret. In 1872 Marius de Vautheleret had to sell the two castles to pay his debts: Issogne was acquired by the painter Vittorio Avondo and Verrès by countess Paolina Crotti di Castigliole who sold it to Alfredo d'Andrade in 1894. For its part, Programar Televisión filed a criminal complaint against Minister of Information Technologies and Communications David Luna and requested precautionary measures before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce in order to stop the bidding, arguing that it was not true that the company had surrendered the timeslots it had until 2013. The ANTV defended itself by arguing that the adjudication in 2003 was made to a temporary union between Programar and RTI and which also applied for the 40-month extension that was given to the licensees in 2013, though RTI and Programar did not agree.

In the years since 1817 during the constitutional reforms of the Evangelical Church in Prussia, including the then March of Brandenburg provincial subsection, the title General Superintendent was reintroduced in 1828, with each general superintendency () supervising a number of deaneries. The title superintendent referred to the head of a deanery. In the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia, a successor church body of the former, the term Superintendent refers to the head of a deanery (). The term General Superintendent refers to the each head of one of the three regions (), each comprising several deaneries.

He became a master mechanic at Aurora. In 1886, he was made superintendent of the St. Louis division of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy R. R. In December, 1888, he returned to Aurora as superintendent of the Chicago division of the same road. In 1890, he was asked to take the superintendency of the Montana Central Railroad, with headquarters at Helena, Montana. In less than three years, he was made superintendent of the Michigan division of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad, and in July, 1897, became general superintendent of the Norfolk and Western Railway.

He originally had his name forward as a candidate at the April 1865 Bruce parliamentary by-election, but supporters of him withdrew his nomination three days before the election. Clapcott was briefly a candidate for the August 1865 Otago superintendency election, but retired prior to the election in favour of Thomas Dick, who was eventually the successful candidate. Clapcott resigned from the provincial council on 16 August 1865; it was rumoured that this was brought about by a mixture of personal affairs, and the mocking he received while standing for the role as superintendent. He afterwards withdrew from public life.

Restoration projects in this period included the Scuola Levantina in the Venetian Ghetto, the church of the Gesuiti in Cannaregio, and the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on the island of Torcello (the latter in partnership with Venice in Peril and the IFM). Tintoretto’s massive Paradise, the largest Old Master painting on canvas in the world, was a significant restoration too, the first of many conservation treatments to benefit this artist. During this period SVI also began to fund local restorers and researchers as well as to support a conservation laboratory run by the Superintendency of Fine Arts.

William Sefton Moorhouse announced his candidacy months later, was less experienced and the worse public speaker of the two candidates. It was Ollivier's support as a skilled orator that gained Moorhouse the Superintendency at the election on 30 October 1857 and Ollivier was regarded as the 'kingmaker'. Ollivier had a reputation as 'perhaps the best after-dinner speaker'. Ollivier served on the Executive Council from 8 December 1857 to 8 November 1859, and again from 21 November 1859 to 2 January 1860. He was Speaker of the Council from 30 May 1865 to 7 May 1866.

Alfred Cumming (September 4, 1802 – October 9, 1873) was appointed governor of the Utah Territory in 1858 replacing Brigham Young following the Utah War, when President James Buchanan wanted a non-Mormon governor. He was born in Augusta, Georgia. Cumming also served as mayor of Augusta, Georgia, sutler to Zachary Taylor during the Mexican War and at Jefferson Barracks in Missouri, and superintendent of the Upper Missouri Indian Superintendency Cumming was a Democrat and was appointed by President Buchanan. He served as governor until 1861 and returned to Washington, D.C. His wife Elizabeth died in 1867.

Thayer School is named for Sylvanus Thayer, an alumnus of Dartmouth in the class of 1807. Thayer was known as "the father of West Point" for his sixteen-year superintendency of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he developed an extensive engineering curriculum unlike any other in the United States at the time.Kershner 139. After thirty years of professional service in the Army Corps of Engineers, Thayer endowed Dartmouth College with $40,000 in 1867 (and increased the gift to $70,000 by 1871) for the establishment of a school of engineering initially called the Thayer School of Civil Engineering.

James Alexander Robertson Menzies (21 February 1821 – 18 August 1888) was the first Superintendent of the Southland Province in New Zealand from 3 August 1861 to November 1864 during its breakaway from Otago Province (1861 to 1870). He continued serving on the Provincial Council after his superintendency ended. During his tenure as Superintendent, two railways projects were undertaken, a railway to link Invercargill to the port at Bluff and a wooden railway to Winton. The former is now known as the Bluff Branch, while the latter was upgraded to the standards of a normal railway and extended to ultimately form the Kingston Branch.

All these departments maintained a certain independence from each other, to the point that the directorates-general functioned as today autonomous bodies do. and an organic subordination barely existed. To avoid conflicts of competence that could arise between the Secretary of State of the Treasury and the Superintendency of the Treasury, they were resolved by making the holder of both were the same person: the Secretary of State. However, they were strong organs and a good proof of this was the construction in the main cities of the Kingdom of palaces destined to house their employees.

In August of that year, the county board of commissioners approved an additional county-wide property tax as well as a three cent poll tax for schools. A general move toward school consolidation began in the late 1920s under the superintendency of R. E. L. Plummer. He actually stepped down to become principal of the consolidated school in Healing Springs High School. When the 1st New Zealand Parliament was called, FitzGerald was elected MP for the Lyttelton electorate, and represented it from 1853 to 1857, when he resigned during the term of the 2nd New Zealand Parliament. Despite his election to Parliament, he chose to retain the Superintendency of Canterbury, a decision criticised by some. In Parliament, FitzGerald argued strongly in favour of "responsible government" once again, attempting to make New Zealand's executive responsible to Parliament rather than the Governor. The acting Governor, Robert Wynyard, eventually agreed to appoint FitzGerald, Henry Sewell, Frederick Weld, and Thomas Bartley to the Executive Council.

In 1880 Maxwell was hired to start a training school at Montreal General Hospital, however she found it a frustratingly slow experience. She left after six months and travelled to Europe, where she visited a number of hospitals. She returned to America and in November 1881 she was offered the superintendency of the Training School for Nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. In 1889, she moved to New York to be director of nursing at St. Luke's Hospital, and from there became superintendent of nursing at the Presbyterian Hospital of New York from 1892 to 1921.

He also completed his Doctoral Dissertation during that year. Bill and Polly had three children: Carol Joan Hadley, born September 17, 1937 in Foley, Alabama; Rita Mable Hadley, born August 8, 1939 in Mobile, Alabama; and John William Hadley, born February 13, 1951 in New York City, New York. In June 1951 Bill accepted an Associate Professorship at the University of Texas at Austin, and he moved his family there. After 13-1/2 months at the University, he accepted the Superintendency of Schools in Alice, Texas and two years later moved to Midland, Texas as Superintendent of Schools there.

"Professor Maspero resigned his office of directorship on June 5, 1886, and was succeeded in the superintendency of excavations and Egyptian archaeology by M. Eugène Grébaut. In the same month Grébaut started upon the work of unbandaging the mummy of the Theban King Sekenenra Ta-aken, of the eighteenth dynasty. It was under this monarch that a revolt against the Hyksôs, or Shepherd Kings, had originated, in the course of which the Asiatics were expelled from Egypt.

Reiser was a member of the Utah State Parks and Recreation Commission and from 1938 to 1948, he served as the secretary to the Utah Centennial Committee. As a member of the LDS Church, Reiser held a variety of prominent positions. Beginning in 1921, David O. McKay selected him to be the secretary to the general superintendency of the Deseret Sunday School Union, a position he would hold for over 20 years. In 1926, Reiser became a member of the general board of the Sunday School, and in 1943 he became the second assistant to general superintendent Milton Bennion.

Combining text and detailed illustrations, each Uigwe preserves the records of the Superintendency (dogam), set up temporarily to plan and carry out special state rites. These rites included investitures, coronations, weddings, banquets, the painting of royal portraits, funerals and ancestral rites. Each Uigwe, some in several volumes with several copies, was written either by hand but more often printed using woodblocks for the History Archive copies. Most of the Uigwe, had one exclusive edition for the king, distinguished by silk covers, high quality paper, binding, superior handwriting and overall presentation, was intended to serve as the royal viewing copy.

Neves was cast as candidate for having approval by the military and for being considered a moderate. In the military arena, the support that former President Ernesto Geisel offered was very decisive. But Neves's moderation was a target of criticism by the Workers' Party (PT), which did not accept the electoral college. Neves also gained influence inside the Democratic Social Party PDS when meeting with governors of the Northeast (all nine of them were elected by the PDS and were, in majority, politicians from a new generation that admired Neves) during the meetings with the Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast.

However, the Centre Iron Company, which had formerly owned the furnace, had made an exclusive contract to ship its products over the Bellefonte, Nittany & Lemont (by that time part of the Bald Eagle Valley Railroad). A court initially found in favor of the Nittany Valley, but the judgement was reversed on appeal in 1895 and the contract was held to be binding upon Valentine Iron. Gephart stepped down from the presidency of the iron company and the superintendency of the Nittany Valley in the wake of the affair. He was replaced as superintendent of the railroad by Mortimer O'Donoghue.

The road, traced by Drusus and "fitted" by Claudius, passed directly (or a branch of it, the question is still debated) through the Lamonese territory in the direction of Castello Tesino. A settlement developed in the first centries of the Christian era, where the hamlet of stands today, a geomorphologically suitable point for controlling the street. This is evidenced by the findings of the necropolis located downstream of today's hamlet, from which objects of burial tombs have been discovered. Recently the area has been the subject of investigations by the Superintendency which has highlighted several 2nd and 3rd century AD burials.

In 1945, he established the Western Steel Company, a steel manufacturing company in Utah that grew to be the largest steel fabricator between the Mississippi River and the west coast, and was later acquired by Joy Manufacturing in 1974. He later served on the U of U's board of trustees and was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the school in 1965. In 1973, he was awarded the Jesse Knight Industrial Citizenship Award from Brigham Young University (BYU). From 1966 to 1971, Derrick was the second assistant to David Lawrence McKay in the general superintendency of the LDS Church's Sunday School organization.

Moorhouse was encouraged by some voters to make himself available for the Avon by- election but he stated that he was not prepared to stand; his financial difficulties were not public knowledge at the time. On 22 May 1868, Rolleston was elected unopposed to the highest political office in Canterbury. Rolleston had since 1865 been a public servant, appointed by Premier Frederick Weld as the Under Secretary in the Native Department. Rolleston needed to wind up his role in Wellington and left for the capital after he announced his candidacy for both the Superintendency and the Avon electorate.

In first couple of decades of the district, it only served students from grades 9 through 12, with younger students in elementary superintendency union districts. Even after the district grew to encompass students starting in kindergarten, pre-highschool students had little exposure to students from the other towns in the district, other than through programs like sports camps, like the Nashoba Summer Baseball Camp, which was founded in 2002. In 2010, a summer theatre camp was started at the high school to help students from the three towns get to know each other. The district also includes education programs for preschoolers.

Her husband died on February 4, 1875, and Little was at chosen by the board of trustees as his successor. One of her challenges concerned the main building of the institution, which had been destroyed by fire in 1874. To the difficulty of carrying on the school work in small and inconvenient quarters was added the supervision of the erection of the enlarged new building. During the time of her superintendency, the Wisconsin School for the Blind was one of the best managed institutions of the kind in the country, and she was recognized as a leader in educational circles.

On his second return to Italy in 1909 he took an art history course in Bologna and in 1910 married Drusilla Tanzi, with whom he had a son, Andrea. In the same year as his marriage he became a volunteer at the Superintendency of Arts in Florence, later becoming its inspector (1913) and director. He also taught art history at the Collegio della SS. Pullen retired from the superintendency and became the fifth University President in 1964 bringing with him a new vision of the University of Baltimore's place in the state's educational landscape. That vision included accreditation of academic programs by the regional Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and construction of a new university library and expanded classroom facilities, which he knew would be necessary to obtain accreditation. H. Mebane Turner succeeded to the presidency in 1969. Pullen continued his involvement as a trustee and his goals were realized in the fall of 1971 when the new Academic Center opened and the university received full regional accreditation.

On 22 July 1915, in Lortallino, during the excavation works of the road from Bolzano Novarese to Ameno, two burials were identified. The research conducted by the Superintendency to verify whether it was isolated tombs or a necropolis was initially unsuccessful, but it was understood that other burials must have been present in the area. In the summer of 1936, following the accidental discovery of a new tomb (A 140), the honorary Inspector of Monuments for the Riviera di San Giulio, engineer Giulio Decio, conducted new excavations, identifying three other burials (A 141-143) . The materials identified can be dated from Golasecca IC to II A (690-550 BC).

George Richard Hill Jr. (April 10, 1884 – August 13, 1971) was an American educational administrator and was the seventh general superintendent of the Sunday School organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1949 to 1966. Hill was a member of the general superintendency of the LDS Church Sunday School from 1934 to 1966. Hill was born in Ogden, Utah Territory, and was raised on a farm in Springville, Utah. Hill obtained a B.S. degree from Brigham Young University in 1907, a B.S.A. degree from the Utah State Agricultural College in 1908, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1912.

The HD feed would return to the operators, after a ruling by the Supreme Court of Bogotá and the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, in 2017. Shortly before the beginning of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Caracol HD2, a digital subchannel carrying some sports events and simulcasting the main HD feed the rest of the time, would be launched. Gravestone, Bozeman, MT Throughout 1890 and 1891, Doane, while assigned to the Presidio in San Francisco and at Fort Bowie, Arizona Territory, made extensive personal and written appeals to U.S. Army and Montana authorities for him to be given the Superintendency of Yellowstone National Park. The U.S. Army never supported him in this endeavor, to his deep disappointment. In February 1892, Doane returned to Bozeman, Montana, on six months medical leave awaiting his official retirement from the U.S. Army. He fell sick during an influenza epidemic in April and eventually died in his sleep from heart failure on May 5, 1892, in his Bozeman home.

During the 1857 election he supported construction of the Lyttelton Rail Tunnel although both Brittan and FitzGerald thought such a long expensive tunnel too risky for a small colony and favoured a longer rail connection via Sumner with a short tunnel or a horse tramway over Gollans Pass. He served as Superintendent until February 1863, and another term from May 1866 to May 1868. After his first superintendency, he represented the Kaiapoi electorate as a provincial councillor from March to October 1863, and then represented the Heathcote electorate from February 1864 to May 1866. From 27 October to 17 November 1863, he was a member of the Canterbury Executive Council.

Since this period, on the first Monday of Holy Spirit, a pilgrimage (both religious and devotional) occurs in the parish. When in the 18th century, Pais Amaral de Mangualde was made the donatarys of Abrunhosa-a-Velha, he also received for the small village, the category of vila (town). In addition to Vila Mendo de Tavares, this region was part of one municipality: Tavares, with its own civil judge and comarca administration. The captain-major and five ordinance officials guarded the outpost, while a superintendency for local tithes was invested in the juízo de fora of Mangualde and Tavares (in addition to two smaller municipalities at the time).

Like many villas and historic buildings, the palace was used during the third war of independence from the Austrian army and as a military hospital during the First World War. The locomotive, numbered 127, emerged from Stratford Works in 1888, having been built to a 'Departmental and Personal' account (DP203) rather than the normal 'letter' account, indicating its experimental status. It was partly, doubtless, under the influence of a feeling that reparation was due that Hilgard was elected to the presidency of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for the year 1875. He, however, continued in charge of the Coast Survey office and in the performance of a great variety of scientific work until his appointment to the superintendency in 1881. The duty of conducting the work of the office of Weights and Measures also devolved upon him as assistant superintendent during that time, and he was essentially active in shaping the legislation concerning the legalization of the metric system in the United States. 45 In 1918 Perkins resigned his superintendency to become Executive Secretary of the Portland Chamber of Commerce. He was also President of the Portland Rotary Club (1916-17), a Four Minute Man during World War I, and a board member of United Americans, a group of super-patriotic organization. In January 1925, Perkins spoke at a public hearing of the Maine Legislature regarding altering the direct nomination primary system. He claimed that “we are ready, the fight is on, and 10,000 Knights of the Ku Klux Klan will stand behind the Direct Primary.” Six months later in July 1925, he was publicly introduced as Grand Dragon of the Maine realm of the Ku Klux Klan.

In March 1752, Schlatter returned to Philadelphia with the money and preachers, and in 1755 withdrew from his pastoral activities to become superintendent of the establishment of the schools among the Germans under the auspices of the Society for the Propagation of the Knowledge of God among the Germans, a group of people from London, of whom William Smith was secretary. The schools were unpopular with the Germans, and in 1757 Schlatter resigned his superintendency. He then accepted an offer by Lord Loudoun to become chaplain of the Royal American regiment, which he accompanied on an expedition to Louisburg. He remained with the army until 1759, and then preached at Chestnut Hill and surrounding places.

He is credited with firing the shot that put an end to Kaiana, who had seceded from the invading army en route and joined Kalanikūpule, king of Oahu and Maui. At the close of this contest, when Kamehameha was called back to Hawaii island to suppress the rebellion of Namakaeha, Young was left on Oahu to adjust the new regime's affairs, then with a number of foreigners who also joined Kamehameha at Hawaii island. Beginning about 1800 or 1802, he was appointed as the Royal Governor of Hawaii island after chief Mokuhia, whom Kamehameha had picked, was murdered by a rival. This included his superintendency of tax gatherings when he returned to Kawaihae.

In 1542 Menius moved to Mühlhausen, being appointed by Maurice, Elector of Saxony, for the ordering of the church there. On the death of Myconius (1546) he was entrusted with the oversight of Gotha, in addition to that of Eisenach; to Gotha he returned in 1547. The remainder of his life was not happy. He was against the Leipzig Interim (1548) with its compromise on some Catholic usages, and was involved in controversies and quarrels; with Georgius Merula, against whom he maintained the need of exorcism in baptism; with Osiander's adherents in the matter of justification; with his colleague, Nicholas von Amsdorf, to whom he had resigned the Eisenach superintendency; with Flacius Illyricus, and others.

John H. Clark was born in 1829 in Union Township, the scion of one of Champaign County's oldest families,A Centennial Biographical History of Champaign County Ohio: Illustrated. New York and Chicago: Lewis, 1902, 453-455. and after studying at the Starling Medical College, he began practicing in the nearby village of Mutual in 1853. Although he moved to Decatur, Illinois in 1859, he returned to Champaign County two years later, and from then until his 1901 death was a prominent Mechanicsburg resident, except for his membership on the United States Sanitary Commission during part of the American Civil War and his superintendency over Ohio's insane asylum at Dayton from 1874 to 1876.

Prosser began to think that schools should help train boys for trades with the help of a Ph.D.. He would not return to the superintendency at New Albany. Dr. Prosser later began to work with other organizations including employment as the superintendent of the Children's Aid Society in New York City where evening industrial instruction classes were offered to the public. He later became Deputy Commissioner of Industrial Education for Massachusetts from 1910 to 1912, and then Secretary of the National Society for the Promotion of Industrial Education again in New York City from 1912 to 1915. While Prosser was Secretary of the National Society, he traveled widely forming and enthusing many individuals and groups.

A Chinese plate was found in Jorhat which was deciphered and found to be the verification tally issued in the fifth year o-f the Yong- le reign (1407/08) to the "Di-ma-sa Pacification Superintendency" In the 18th century, a divine Hindu origin was constructed for the rulers of the Kachari kingdom and it was named Hidimba, and the kings as Hidimbesvar. The name Hiḍimbā continued to be used in the official records when the East India Company took over the administration of Cachar.This is clear from a seal of the Superintendent of the District of Cachar of 1835. Logo of the Military Academy The Commandant of Cadets is the ranking officer in charge of the Corps of Cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. The commandant is head of the Department of Tactics and, under the superintendent is responsible for the administration, discipline, and military training of cadets at the academy. A model for all cadets, the commandant is an academy graduate of impeccable character and bearing who has demonstrated accomplishment in both academic excellence and active military service in the field. During the superintendency of Sylvanus Thayer, the corps of cadets was organized into a battalion of two companies with an officer of the army appointed as commander.

The adoption was in the presence of the British political officer who was given a letter from the raja requesting that the child should be treated with kindness and that the government of Jhansi should be given to his widow for her lifetime. After the death of the raja in November 1853 because Damodar Rao was adopted, the British East India Company, under Governor-General Lord Dalhousie, applied the Doctrine of Lapse, rejecting Damodar Rao's claim to the throne and annexing the state to its territories. The Jhansi state and the Jalaun and Chanderi districts were then formed into a superintendency. In March 1854, Lakshmibai was given a pension of Rs. 60,000 and ordered to leave the palace and the fort.

In 1867, Thompson's brother-in-law, John Wesley Powell, organized an expedition to the Rocky Mountains to collect specimens for the Illinois State Natural History Society. Thompson acted as the entomologist of the party. After the expedition, in 1868, Thompson resumed the superintendency of the Bloomington, Illinois, schools. He was appointed acting curator of the Illinois State Natural History Society in 1869. Following the completion of Powell's first expedition through the unexplored canyon country of Utah and Arizona in 1869 (of which Thompson was not a member), Powell and Thompson began plans for what became known as Powell's Second Expedition, which intended to retrace the earlier route to provide photographs, more accurate maps, and further scientific study of the Colorado River and the surrounding country.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) of the Philippines, Bank Indonesia (BI), Bank of Thailand (BOT), Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) of Peru and National Banking and Securities Commission of Mexico comprised the initial core group of six member institutions. Since its inception, approximately 300 designs have been honored the Award, covering a wide range of products such as racing bikes, portable sewing machines, desks, sofas, vases, clothes hangers, drawers, clocks, desk lamps, telephones, electric fans and coffee machines. Some of the awarded designs are exposed in Milan, in the Collection of the Premio Compasso d'Oro ADI. On 22 April 2004, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism – through its Superintendency for Lombardy – declared the collection of "exceptional artistic and historical interest", thus making it part of the national cultural heritage.

The ecclesiastical province had its headquarters, the 1815-founded Royal [or Evangelical (as of 1918)] and general superintendent, domiciling in Stettin, taken over from the Brandenburgian Pomeranian Lutheran Church, the latter's local Köslin Consistory had been dissolved in 1815. The Swedish Pomeranian former Greifswald Consistory and the local were stripped of their competences and dissolved in 1849 and 1815, respectively, the general superintendency in Greifswald was not restaffed after 1824. Since initially the office of general superintendent was not provided as a function in the new Evangelical Church in Prussia at all, the respective offices had not been restaffed when their previous incumbents retired, causing a vacancy. However, since the late 1820s the Evangelical Church in Prussia appointed general superintendents in all its ecclesiastical provinces.

"Pacific demonstration" in Guatemala City, on April 25, 2015 after the first corruption allegations against the Pérez Molina Administration. La Línea corruption case began in Guatemala on April 16, 2015, when the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala () and State prosecutors accused a number of politicians in the administration of President Otto Pérez Molina of setting up a customs corruption ring with the help of high-ranking officials in the tax and customs administration. Several demonstrations ensued, calling for the resignation of Pérez Molina and his vice-president Roxana Baldetti. Among the accused were the retired captain Juan Carlos Monzón, (at the time Baldetti's private secretary) and the directors of the Tax Administration Superintendency or ', (SAT), an entity analogous to the US Internal Revenue Service.

In 1994, special legislation authorized Charles R. Larson to resume the superintendency of the U.S. Naval Academy, then a two-star billet, as a full admiral. When the long- serving director of the naval nuclear reactor program, Hyman G. Rickover, was finally compelled to retire in 1982, his successor was promoted to admiral and appointed director of naval nuclear propulsion, institutionalizing the position as a permanent four-star billet. To compensate, another four-star billet was eliminated by merging Allied Forces Southern Europe with U.S. Naval Forces Europe. Similarly, when the U.S. Atlantic Fleet commander (CINCLANTFLT) was separated from the Atlantic unified commander in 1985, the number of four- star billets was conserved by eliminating the chief of naval material position.

Although it determined that all topographic responsibility outside of coastal areas would henceforth reside in the U.S. Geological Survey, it approved of the Coast and Geodetic Survey continuing its entire program of scientific research, and recommended that the Coast and Geodetic Survey remain under civilian control rather than be subordinated to the U.S. Navy. It was a victory for Thorn and Colonna. Another victory followed in 1887, when Thorn headed off a congressional attempt to subordinate the Survey to the Navy despite the Allison Commission's findings, providing Cleveland with information on the previous lack of success of such an arrangement. When Thorn left the superintendency in 1889, the Coast and Geodetic Survey's position in the U.S. Government had become secure.

In the early 1860s the crisis in Kansas prompted Gilpin to join the Republican Party, putting him at odds with many citizens of Missouri. His political alignment with the new administration of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was rewarded in 1861 when Lincoln appointed him governor of the newly formed Territory of Colorado. His selection over the local favorite William Larimer came as a surprise to many, and was motivated in part by the fact that Gilpin was backed by the Governor of Missouri, a slave state that Lincoln was eager to keep in the Union. The US Government's Official Register for 1861 lists Gilpin as both Governor of Colorado (at a salary of $1,500 a year) and as governor and ex officio superintendent of the Indian Office's Colorado Superintendency ($2,500 a year).

However, the story of the reassembling of Michele Valori's private archive actually began as early as 1980, as Tonelli realised the importance of acknowledging his indisputable skills with a complete collection. With perseverance and determination, she was able to recover all her husband's papers, both professional and academic, from across his studios and their home. In this way, she succeeded in reconstructing a body of documentary information of great value to the Italian architectural scene, and which was extremely significant in terms of the memories it encompassed and the affection it showed. In 1995, the archive of Michele Valori's projects and writings was declared of historical interest by the Archival Superintendency of Lazio, who described it as "a precious resource for the history of architecture and urbanism in Italy".

In the 2003 bidding cycle was grouped in a consortium with RTI. Programar Televisión didn't file for the extension of 2014 due to internal conflicts with R.T.I. On September 24, 1966, following an authorization from the Superintendency of Banks and Financial Institutions of Bolivia, the Bank of Santa Cruz de la Sierra S.A. was officially inaugurated in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. In July 1992, its corporate name was changed to Banco Santa Cruz S.A. Within the next few years, the company quickly developed and expanded its network of branches to all major cities in Bolivia, including La Paz, Cochabamba, Oruro, Sucre and Tarija. Banco Santa Cruz was renowned for its innovative operations, becoming the first financial company in Bolivia in implementing online banking, drive- through banking agencies, a comprehensive network of ATMs and the largest network of branches in the country and abroad. On July 12, 1998, 90% of the shares of Banco Santa Cruz S.A. were sold to the Spanish Banco Central Hispano.

The spirit of the 1991 constitution led to reform of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) in order to foster competition and protect consumer rights by strengthening its capacity to prevent monopolistic activities and promote competition and market access. Offenses against free competition, collusion, and abuses of market power were defined, and the SIC gained the capacity to sanction individuals and firms for violations. The changes also strengthened a period of trade liberalization, increasing the degree of competition in domestic markets after a long period of import-substitution industrialization and export-promotion policies. The earliest evidence of human settlement in the area now known as Gioia del Colle dates back to the 9th century BC. Archaeological excavations have revealed that at that time a Peucetian village was located in the area of Monte Sannace, about from Gioia). Monte Sannace site, 5 km away from the town in the direction of Turi, has been the subject of archaeological excavations since 1957 by the Superintendency of Antiquities in Apulia and Matera. The excavations, completed in 1961, have brought to light a settlement of the ancient Peucetian village dating back to the 9th century BC and which continues, with brief interruptions, until the Hellenistic-Roman period (approximately until the first century AD). General James Rodgers Allen (November 17, 1925 - August 11, 1992) was commander in chief of the Military Airlift Command, with headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, He served as a pilot in combat during parts of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and otherwise was in training, training others, or contributing in planning, administrative or management capacities. While a planner in the Pentagon, "he was a principal architect of a joint Army-Air Force helicopter raid in 1970 on a camp in North Vietnam, where American prisoners were believed to be held. No prisoners were found." He was Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy during 1974-1977, and was its seventh Superintendent in that role. During his superintendency, the first women cadets started at the academy: on 26 June 1976, 157 women entered, of whom 97 would eventually graduate in 1980.

In 1793 began a continuous period of wars that did not end until 1845 and the main resource that sustained them was the public debt that did not stop growing and that had, among other consequences, the creation of the Bank of Spain, the establishment of a confiscation policy and the creation of a budgetary system to control the deficit. In 1795 the Superintendency of the Treasury was suppressed assuming its responsibilities the ministry. Between the Peninsular War (1808-1814), it existed two treasury ministries, one belonging to the Napoleonic government and other to the Spanish one. For a better organization, in 1824, during the reign of Ferdinand VII, it was created the Directorate-General for the Treasury —that still exists today— as a redistributive body of public funds and in 1834 the current Undersecretariat of Finance was created with multiple bodies depending on it.

She devoted herself to writing some publications on the civilization of the Conca d'Oro ('Golden Valley'), the fertile plain among mountains where Sicily's capital city Palermo is situated, and of the Grotta del Vecchiuzzo in Madonie Regional Natural Park. She remained the director of the Archaeological Superintendency of Western Sicily from the 1930s to the 1960s. During World War II she took charge of moving the exhibits kept at Palermo's Regional Archeological Museum Antonio Salinas by personally relocating them to the convent of San Martino delle Scale in Monreale; in view of the great devastation that the museum suffered, this allowed them to save the greater part of the collection. At the end of the war she was in charge of the museum's reconstruction and reorganization, so much so that if Antonio Salinas is the one who created the museum, Jole Bovio Marconi is considered the one who created it anew.

The government made improving the provision of public utilities to the vulnerable sectors of society a key goal. These general objectives became the responsibility of the Public Utilities Regime, which provides for increasing coverage, promoting privatization of utilities, developing a tariff regime, and giving consumers a supervisory role. The regime created three regulatory commissions (for electricity, telecommunications, and water and sanitation) and an organization for the promotion, supervision, and control of competition called the Residential Public Services Superintendency (SSPD). As a result of the reforms, which naturally generated resistance in certain sectors of society, particularly among union workers, provision of all services has improved significantly. For example, between 1990 and 2003 electricity coverage increased from 80 to 95 percent of the population; drinking water, from 67 to 87 percent; sewerage, from 50 to 72 percent; and local telephone service, from 8 to 22 percent.

The Nevada State Superintendent of Public Instruction reported to the 27th Session of the Nevada Legislature that the Mission style is "especially adapted to one-story structures " and that "there is nothing better for school purposes than one-story buildings. The one-story plan eliminates the stair climbing so destructive to the nervous strength of pupils and teachers, and also renders danger from fire impossible." Under Billinghurst's leadership, Washoe County was the first in the state to introduce middle schools, and in 1930, B.D. Billinghurst Middle School was established and named in his honor, one of five such middle schools established during his superintendency. He was also associated with educational reforms such as the establishment of the Nevada State Textbook Commission, laws providing free textbooks for public school students, compulsory attendance laws, laws requiring medical examination of public school students, education finance laws, and improvement in Nevada public school curriculum.

On that same day, the local newspapers The Press and the Lyttelton Times published a requisition signed by 362 electors addressed to William Rolleston, urging him to stand, as well as his lengthy response acceding to that request. In his response, Rolleston outlined his political views: in contrast to the outgoing Superintendent of Canterbury, William Sefton Moorhouse, Rolleston wanted to be prudent with his capital programme and cut back public debts; he favoured the careful and deliberate abolition of provincial governments but saw no haste to action this measure; he advocated a better system of distribution of the provincial revenues handed to the central government (as Canterbury paid more than its fair share). The by-election unfolded during the upcoming election for the superintendency of the Canterbury Province. Moorhouse, whose popularity had sunk to a low, had resigned in early April 1868 over personal financial difficulties.

While working at CEPAL, Furtado and Prebisch were decisive for the formulation of socioeconomic policies for the development of Latin America which emphasized industrialization and import substitution. Upon his return to Brazil in 1959, he published his most famous book – The Economic Growth of Brazil: A Survey from Colonial to Modern Times (in Portuguese: Formação Econômica do Brasil) – and was appointed the director of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDE) in charge of issues concerning states of the northeastern region, which are poor and face chronic droughts and desertification. During this period, he developed a plan which resulted in the creation of the Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene), a governmental agency that worked to stimulate economic growth in that region, and was appointed by Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek (1956–1961) the agency's first director. During the government of president João Goulart (1961–1964), Furtado became Minister of Planning and was responsible for Brazil's Triennial Plan of development.

The "Japanese" or "dwarf" pirates, most of whom were actually disaffected Chinese, forced Quanzhou's Superintendency of Trade to close completely in 1522.. During the Qing Dynasty, the Sea Ban did not help the city's traders or fishermen: they were forced to abandon their access to the sea for years at a time and coastal farmers forced to relocate miles inland to inner counties like Yongchun and Anxi. The bay began to attract Jardines' and Dents' opium ships from 1832. Following the First Opium War, Governor Henry Pottinger proposed using Quanzhou as an official opium depot to keep the trade out of Hong Kong and the other treaty ports but the rents sought by the imperial commissioner Qiying were too high.

Knowing of the management problems at the Coast and Geodetic Survey, Thorn at first approached its personnel with a degree of hostility, but during his three weeks on the Treasury investigative committee he determined that many of the accusations made against Survey personnel were petty or could not be substantiated, and concluded that in many cases the accusers were motivated by the potential for their own career advancement if they destroyed the careers of others. Upon assuming the superintendency, he quickly concluded that Coast and Geodetic Survey employees were largely innocent of wrongdoing and that he could manage the problems that did exist. He then set his mind to the issues of rebuilding the Survey's integrity and reputation and ensuring that it demonstrated its value to its critics. He knew that the Survey's improper financial and budgetary practices had to end and that increased scrutiny resulting from investigations into the Survey's operations would mean tight budgets in the future.

A YMMIA general superintendency (later renamed "general presidency") was formed by church John Taylor in 1880. In 1901, the YMMIA was divided into junior and senior classes. In 1911, the church followed the pattern developed by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and created the YMMIA Scouts. The organization was officially integrated into the BSA on May 21, 1913. In the 1970s, the YMMIA was briefly merged with the church's Aaronic priesthood and young women's organizations and officially renamed the Aaronic Priesthood MIA Young Women. In June 1974, this consolidation was reversed: an independent Young Women organization was established and the name of the Young Men organization was changed to Aaronic Priesthood. Also in 1974, the church eliminated the YMMIA General Presidency, placing the organization under the direction of the Presiding Bishopric. The organization's name was changed to Young Men in May 1977 and a general presidency was reinstated. Aaronic Priesthood MIA Young Women was the name of the LDS Church's official young men organization between 1972 and 1974.

Transportation in Colombia is regulated within the functions of the Ministry of Transport and entities such as the National Roads Institute (INVÍAS) responsible for the Highways in Colombia, the Aerocivil, responsible for civil aviation and airports, the National Infrastructure Agency, in charge of concessions through public–private partnerships, for the design, construction, maintenance, operation, and administration of the transport infrastructure, the General Maritime Directorate (Dimar) has the responsibility of coordinating maritime traffic control along with the Colombian Navy, among others and under the supervision of the Superintendency of Ports and Transport. The road network in Colombia has a length of about 215,000 km of which 23,000 are paved.Champin, J., Cortés, R., Kohon, J., & Rodríguez, M. (2016). Ernesto Andrés Livacic Gazzano (March 23, 1929 – May 29, 2007) was a prominent Chilean academic and author who published more than 50 books on literature and on the field of education. Livacic was born in the southern Chilean city of Punta Arenas to a family of Croatian origin. He earned a Master of Education degree and worked for 14 years as a teacher in a number of secondary educational institutions in Chile. In 1961 he became a professor at the University of Chile, and in 1962 he also became an educational authority and planner for UNESCO. Livacic worked for the Chilean Ministry of Education for 8 years as technical secretary of the Superintendency of Education (1965–1969); he later served as Sub Secretary of Education (1969–1970). He was also a distinguished member of the National Council of Education in Chile from 1965 to 1973. Since 1983 he was a principal member of the Chilean Academy of Language, where he served as Secretary (1983–1999), Vice-Director (1995–1998) and the president of the Commission for Literature (1999–2005). He was an academic in the Catholic University of Chile from 1955 to 1994 where he held the post of Director of the Institute of Letters for four years.
