As part of the £2.2 billion Private Finance Initiative (PFI) partnership with Amey Plc, a large proportion of street trees across Sheffield are to be felled and replaced. Sheffield City Council (SCC) indicate that up to 10,000 trees are to be replaced although wording in the PFI contract indicates a target of 17,500. SCC have denied that 17,500 is an actual target. However, there is evidence from an SCC Cabinet Meeting that in 2010 that SCC planned to remove and replant 17,500 trees as part of the PFI contract and an interview with the SCC Head of Highways in December 2012 indicated the Contract would include replacement of "half of the city’s 36,000 highway trees".

The Sheffield tree felling protests are a series of ongoing protests and unrest happening since 2014 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The protests began as a response to the mass felling of healthy street trees across Sheffield since 2012 as part of the controversial ‘Streets Ahead’ Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract signed by Sheffield City Council (SCC), Amey plc and the Department for Transport, despite plans to replant the felled trees with saplings. The protests have resulted in many arrests across the city along with threats of legal action against Sheffield City Council and Amey plc in order to help prevent unnecessary felling of street trees in Sheffield. Due to a pause of tree felling in 2018 as part of a new approach developed by Sheffield City Council to maintain street trees, the number of protests have reduced since 2018.

After the album's release She Rockers with Betty Boo got signed to a major as did DJ Loose, who joined Cash Crew, Sir Drew, Iroc, and Flex became Mighty Ethnicz, Mell-o-D formed NSO and the scratch DJ DJ Streets Ahead gained worked on TV. After the album the label started the Positive Beat Roadshow linking in with Sahara Sound System for the next two years. The Roadshow worked by taking artists from the Known 2 Be Down project and local street poets, emcess, Djs and beat boxers around London to community centres and cultural events. The mainstays of the Roadshow were MC Reason a local b-girl and emcee, DJ Chin, Jonie D, Scare 437, Rapski and Echo the human beat box.
