The first dam is where woodworking enterprise pollute the water. The second dam is cleaner, but on its banks there are various industrial buildings. Behind the second dam Sviyaga becomes a small streamlet and then in Kuzovatovo becomes a small river proceeding for some kilometers on wide floodplains. Here the upper part of Sviyaga is deeper because of an abundance of springs from underground aquifers.

The name of Horní Moštěnice is from the time of Great Moravia, when there was an important way connecting Velehrad with Přerov and Olomouc, leading through hags and marshes, so the path had to be hardened by bundles of wicker called moština, giving later the name to the village. This ibis breeds solitarily. It was first recorded breeding in 1910 on Mount Kenya at 9,000 feet. Later breeding records of this ibis have been made adjacent to water in East Africa. One nest was discovered at the headwaters of the Pesi River in the northern Aberdares in mixed Juniperus/Podocarpus forest, and another at a streamlet near the Thiririka River in the southeastern Aberdares in mixed Podocarpus/Ocotea forest.

The resulting battle known as the Battle of Bloody Run took place at a point in the eastern limits of present-day Richmond, Virginia, now known as Bloody Run spring. So many were slain in the battle, that the tradition is that the streamlet from the spring ran with blood. The Kandanchira Thodu, starting from chudala motta, near Kannur Engineering College, flows along from east to west of the panchayath, to which another stream which flows out from Kunhikulam and joins near Parakkadav. This streamlet reaches Irinav, where it is called Irinav puzha, and at its mouth a saline water regulator was constructed, connecting the islet of Madakkara. Recently, this was converted into a bridge. In the last century, Kolath vayal primarily planted paddy fields, but now it almost entirely consists of coconut plantations.

It spends the daytime buried in the top layer of sand. It forages mostly at night and sometimes in the morning. As an ambush predator, when foraging, it poises in the streamlet channel where water is flowing, supported by a tripod formed by its pelvic and anal fins, spreading both its very long barbels and the filamentous dorsal and pectoral-fin rays, thus forming a kind of "drift-trap". When the fish intercepts food, it will lunge at these food particles; after lunging for a short distance, it will return to its previous hunting spot.

Pleven is in an agricultural region in the middle of the Danubian Plain, the historical region of Moesia, surrounded by low limestone hills, the Pleven Heights. The city's central location in Northern Bulgaria defines its importance as a big administrative, economic, political, cultural and transport centre. Pleven is away from the capital city of Sofia, west of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and south of the Danube. The river Vit flows near the city and the tiny Tuchenitsa river (commonly known in Pleven as Barata, literally "The Streamlet") crosses it.

Rising at Tunshill, just south of Tunshill Farm, where it is almost immediately fed by a small streamlet, the brook flows in a south- westerly direction towards Milnrow, is culverted under the M62 Motorway, then runs along the eastern boundary of Tunshill Golf Course, then down a clough through Claylands Head, to the hamlet of Butterworth Hall. Flowing past Good Intent, it is again culverted beneath Church Terrace before passing under Bilson Bridge on Newhey Road, joining the River Beal, behind Milnrow Precinct. Glashagarriff Bridge situated west of Coachford village in County Cork, Ireland is the meeting point of four townlands (Carhoo Lower, Carhoo Upper, Carrigathou and Coolnagearagh), two catholic parishes (Aghabullogue and Aghinagh) and two civil parishes (Aghinagh and Magourney). Referred to as 'Clashgarriff Br.' on the 1841 surveyed OS map, and 'Glashagarriff Br.' on the 1901 surveyed OS map, the bridge spans the Glashagarriff River before it joins the River Lee a short distance to the south. Glashagarriff is an anglicised version of the Irish Glaise Gharbh (meaning ‘rough streamlet'). Smith in 1750, refers to the 'Glashigarriff' river.

The place name Firbeck is thought to derive from a wood streamlet, or beck of the Frith An oval field in the village marks what was once the private racecourse of 18th century racehorse owner Anthony St Leger, who originated the St Leger Stakes. While the first "St. Leger" race was held on Cantley Common in 1776, was not so named until over a year later, and moved to Doncaster Racecourse in 1778, local legend holds that the race was being run in Firbeck prior to this. St Leger lived at Park Hill, an estate to the south of Firbeck.

Very few clumps of mangroves remain in the lower reaches of Round Hill Creek along the western margin but the caravan park developed in 1978 has a cover of mature native trees while the unreserved Crown land along the foreshore adjacent to Captain Cook Drive has an impressive covering of mature tall Cabbage palms, probably predating Cook's landing. The spring which fed a streamlet rising on the slope above Captain Cook Drive and running out on the beach only stopped flowing in 1992. It had yielded a bucket of water every 25 seconds at peak flow in 1989. This was probably the stream mentioned by Cook.
