In 1997 representatives from the University of Nottingham and the departments of Occupational Medicine at two Danish hospitals, Skive Syghus and Herning Syghus, wrote an enabling document that laid the foundation for an organizing committee, the purpose of which was to create a European organization dedicated to supporting “research, teaching and practice” in OHP. The EA-OHP came into existence in 1999. The organization operated out of the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations, at the University of Nottingham, under Tom Cox's leadership and "actively supported by a pan-European team of individuals and institutions." The organization developed working groups in research, teaching, and practice. The EA-OHP’s leading activity was organizing annual conferences that facilitated the sharing of research findings and educational and practice information. Attendance at the Academy’s conferences increased steadily.

The foundation of what would become Dúné was founded in 2001 by elementary school class mates Mattias Kolstrup (Vocals), Malte Aarup-Sørensen (Drums) and Simon Troelsgaard (Guitar) in Skive, Denmark. After a couple of shifting band names and line up's at a handful of local gigs the three friends were permanently joined by class mate Cecilie Dyrberg (Synth) and Piotrek Wasilewski. Wasilewski, who was trained in classical music in his native Poland, got to hold an electric bass for the first time in his life at his first rehearsal with the band. In early 2002 the five young musicians changed their name to Dúné and after Kolstrup bought his first analogue Synthesizer the band started writing their own material strongly inspired by 80’s pop heroes like Depeche Mode, Erasure and local Danish bands. In 2003 Dúné recorded their first demo CD entitled “Let’s Jump”.
In February 2012, Turboweekend signed a deal with EMI Nordic (now Parlophone), for the release of their 3rd full length studio album Fault Lines. In Denmark the album went #1 in the week of its release and first single On My Side was elected Hit Of The Year (shared 1st place) by listener votes on national radio P3. In April the band went on a 24 date European tour through The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland and in March they released the Shadow Sounds ep containing stripped down versions of 6 songs from previous releases, which the band had rearranged for a small mini- tour in February at a handful of intimate venues. The European tour in April was followed up by a couple of festival shows in Switzerland, The Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany, as well as gigs in Denmark at Skive, Nibe, Trailerpark and Skanderborg festivals.
The level 4 league match, that Viborg FF won 3–2 in windy rain, is reportedly the largest match attendance to a lower ranking Danish league game, outside of the top three divisional structure. Large renovations and expansions to the stadium began in 1998. At that point, club members referred to the 55 years old ground as the most outdated division stadium in Denmark. As a consequence of the first phase, that involved the running tracks for the athletes having synthetic coating installed by 1999 and hence upgrading them to international standards, Skive IK was forced to relocate their professional association football home matches to Egeris Idrætsanlæg (more specifically Bane 1) in the south part of the city — the team played a last game at the stadium, before the renovations commenced, against Skovshoved IF in the fall of 1997 as part of their 1997–98 Danish 2nd Division campaign.
In August 2019, Lystrup IF reached national Danish media following an incident, which involved first-team players attending Smukfest, an annual music festival, meaning that Lystrup were forced to forfeit their Danish Cup matchup against Skive IK. After facing pressure from Divisionsforeningen, representing the Danish divisions, and criticism from Skive's director of football, Rasmus Brandhof, Lystrup head coach John Stoltze Madsen stated that he simply did not have enough players available to compete. Club chairman Susanne Pedersen later explained that Smukfest was not the reason for players cancelling the cup match, but that the main reason was the club's relegation from the Denmark Series to the Jutland Series, which had seen many players leave the club during the summer. The following day, Lystrup announced that a mixture of first-team and veteran's team footballers could form a competitive team, which meant that cancellation was avoided. The match was played on 8 August, and ended in a 16-1 loss to Lystrup.
Farum BK was placed in the second group of the Denmark Series, the fourth tier in the Danish football pyramid, though it gained promotion to the first group after the club's maiden season. Jørgen Andersen, a former goalkeeper for Hvidovre, took over as the club's first head coach in 1992; the club stayed in the Denmark Series first group for six years. Under the guidance of manager Jørgen Tideman, who took over in 1994, Farum qualified for promotion into the 2nd Division in the 1997–98 season and subsequently turned professional for the first time in club history. Farum's first full season as a professional club was a fruitful one, edging out Aalborg Chang and Skive to fifth place by one point, gaining promotion for the second time in two years into the 1st Division. The club's meteoric rise was slowed at first with the new challenge of playing in the Danish second tier, though it was not stopped however, ending the 1999–2000 campaign with a respectable eighth-place finish, winning the same number of games as it lost.
Growing up in the countryside near the small town of Skive, Langer was born to schoolteachers who raised him on singer/songwriters like Neil Young, Rickie Lee Jones, Bob Dylan, and Carole King. From a young age he found his imagination sparked by his surroundings, an idyllic dreamland of forests and farmland and rivers. (“As a child I loved writing all these dark poems and horror stories about ghosts—I was always drawn to the supernatural,” he recalls.) Although he pursued training in jazz piano throughout his school years, Langer decided against attending The Royal Danish Academy of Music after high school, and instead moved to Copenhagen to make music on his own. “For a while I quit piano,” he notes. “I got a guitar and taught myself without theory, and it was so liberating to just play by ear and by my heart.” Once in Copenhagen, Langer began recording demos in his apartment and later landed a deal with Copenhagen Records, who released his full-length debut Attention Please in 2006.
